Chapter 1

2024

Dr. Daniel Jackson had spent years working and living on Atlantis after the city ship was brought to Earth. He was no longer part of a team. Instead, he worked to teach new linguist and archeologist the ropes as he was now the expert on all things alien. He found himself single once more as his relationship with Vala ended years ago. Long gone are the days of sporting battle dress uniforms as he was now in an academic position and thus wore a jacket and tie. His hair was starting to show some gray and his face a bit rounder from age. His latest project was to write a book based on his life and experience but the pentagon was dragging out the approval processes.

He missed his friends the most. Jack was long retired and living full time at his cabin. Sam was commander of the latest deep space vessel and Teal'c was now a political figure in the new Free Jaffa government. Colonel Cameron Mitchell was given command of the Hammond and was off world most of the time.

He did make friends over the years with people on Atlantis. General John Sheppard now headed the city as the administrator and Dr. Rodney McKay was still heading the science department. Teyla and her son lived on the city as well. Ronin found fame as he was cast in a major motion picture as the lead actor for his looks alone.

Ironically, Daniel's social life had shrunk considerably. He sat at the table in his apartment sipping a cup of cold coffee and working on the laptop before him. He wore blue jeans, sneakers and a t-shirt as it was his day off. A knock came at his door.

"Coming." he called as he stood up. The door slid open as he pushed the control panel on the wall to reveal a very familiar face.

Jonathan O'Neill the Second, clone of Jack O'Neill stood in blue battle dress. He looked just like Jack but younger. He was now thirty years old and a very handsome man who seemed have all the ladies and some men swooning.

"Hey Jon!" he greeted his friend. "Come in." he welcomed him.

Jon stepped into the apartment and the door slid close behind him.

"How things going, Daniel?" he asked him.

"Not bad." he replied. "You?" he asked.

"Sheppard just gave me my own SG team." he told him. "They gave me the rank of Colonel."

"Congratulations." he gave a warm smile to the clone. He then wondered why Jon was telling him.

"I am handpicking my team." he mentioned. "I was wondering if you would be interested."

"I'm too old to do that now." he sighed.

"I got Cassie Frasier." he informed. "She's tech."

"Cassie is a good at what she does." he agreed. "Sam taught her everything she knows."

"Please!" he begged.

"I'm too old." he insisted.

"It's SG-1." he added.

"You hit Teal'c up yet?" he smirked amused.

He raised a finger. "He's next."

"Tell you what. If Teal'c agrees then I will come on your new team." he offered.

"Great!" he grinned. "Get changed. We're going to get T."

"Changed?" he cocked an eyebrow.

"You can't go off world in civvies." he stated.

"I am busy." he insisted.

He asked, "Doing what, Daniel? We got computers to translate now. You wrote a book that Pentagon is sitting on. You are bored out of your mind."

"I'm not that bored." he insisted. "I'm looking at taking early retirement."

"And do what?" he asked not amused.

"Um…" he pondered. "Fine! I'll go. I could use a visit to Chulak anyways." He looked at Jon, "SG-1, huh? What happened to the last team?"

"They were assigned to the fleet. No one wants a team anymore. Everyone wants a ship now." he told him.

"I noticed the teams seem to be going down." he admitted.

Jon motioned, "Get your stuff. Let's go, Daniel."

He agreed. "I'll change and get my stuff."

Chulak

Teal'c was growing ever so frustrated with politics. Bra'tac and his presidency was a success and many thought Teal'c would be the new president as Bra'tac was about to retire. He had no desire to run for president nor engage further in more political nonsense. The Free Jaffa government was becoming ripe with drama and scandal. Something that Teal'c despised.

He took himself on a walk to get away from the bickering and political strife. Up ahead the Gate came to life in the distance. Teal'c, dressed in gray robes made his way to greet the incoming visitors.

The Jaffa could not believe his eyes when he spied two familiar faces. Daniel and Jack's clone, Jon had stepped through wearing green battle dress. He secretly hoped for some kind of emergency that would require his assistance. He greeted. "DanielJackson. ColonelO'Neill."

Jon grinned at him. "Long time, no see, T."

Daniel held out a hand, "Good to see you again, Teal'c. How are things?"

Teal'c shook Daniel's hand. "Well." he lied. He was most stressed from the political bickering.

Jon started, "Hey ah…T. I've been given SG-1 and I'm starting my own team. You think you might want to join?" He then continued, "I understand if you are too busy…"

"Indeed." he nearly jumped at the offer.

Jon blinked surprised. "You will?"

"Of course." he smiled to himself.

Daniel asked, "Aren't you busy with the senate?"

He replied, "I may leave at any time."

"Things okay?" he asked. He was surprised how fast Teal'c jumped at the chance to join Jon's new team.

He confessed. "The politics are irritating me."

Jon cheered. "Great! Now I got Teal'c, Daniel and Cassie."

"CassieFrasier?" Teal'c asked.

He nodded, "Tech expert. She's a captain now."

Teal'c looked to Daniel.

Daniel stated, "If she's going to go out there, least she will have us backing her up."

"Indeed." he agreed.

Atlantis, Earth

Teal'c returned to earth with Jon and Daniel after taking a leave of absence from his position in the Free Jaffa senate. He soon donned the old battle dress and was ready for another adventure. He walked into a ready room for the teams operating out of the city. He found John Sheppard at the head of the room with the men and women before him. He spied the back of the read headed woman standing next to Daniel and Jon. He immediately recognized her as Cassie Frasier. Her hair was placed neatly up in a bun much like how her adopted mother, Janet would sport her hair. He approached his teammates.

"CassieFrasier." he smiled at her.

Cassie had grown into a beautiful young woman about thirty years of age. She held the rank of Captain in the US Air Force and put much time in as a engineer on fighter craft. She grinned at Teal'c. "T." she whispered back excited to be working with Jon, Teal'c and Daniel on her new team.

"You are well." he assessed.

"I'm good." she told him. "I can't believe I got SG-1."

"You are well suited." he assured her. "Your mother would be proud."

"I know she would." she agreed.

General Sheppard spoke before the group. "Due to disclosure we are moving SG team operations. Atlantis is being turned over to total civilian control. They are even going to elect a mayor. We are going to be running operations out of the old mountain base."

Daniel groaned. "I like it here."

John smirked, "With reporters and Atlantis police running about?"

"Obviously not." he sighed. "Back to the old S.G.C., huh?"

"And I'm running it." John told him.

"Just wish we had windows." he muttered.

"You like Colorado." Jon told Daniel.

"I don't like it in winter." he complained.

Jon teased, "Stay here and run for city mayor."

"No!" he shook his head.

General Sheppard stated. "Dr. McKay will be in charge of R&D. Dr. Jackson will be in charge of his old department. And…we got Senator Teal'c back on SG-1." he smiled brightly.

A round of applause erupted for Teal'c.

Daniel mentioned, "I was originally on SG-1 too."

"So was I in a way." Jon miffed.

General Sheppard stated. "This operation will be a lot smaller than the old days. We are on a shoe string budget. Brass wants to phase out the SG teams completely. So, we have to do more with a lot less." he paused for a moment to let the information sink in.

Daniel asked, "How much of a budget cut are we looking at?"

"We will be running with only six teams." he informed. "A seventy five percent drop." He then gave a slight smile. "I have some good news. General Carter will be joining us in the mountain base."

"Sam is coming?" Daniel asked surprised.

Cassie miffed, "She found out that I was assigned to SG-1 and told me she's coming back to make sure I'm okay. She sent herself in to watch me."

Daniel smirked, "Lucky you."

She replied. "I got all of SG-1 with me. You, Teal'c…Jack's clone. Not sure why she had to do that. I'm an adult now."

"She's just worried about you." Daniel assured. "Once she sees you are doing fine, she will back off."

"I hope so." she muttered.
