Table for Two
A couple weeks after the incident with the Vees and the Queen's returned, Lilith and Lucifer now sit across from each other in an empty restaurant.
Both the Queen and King are looking at the menu. Occasionally glancing at one another.
Eventually, Lilith speaks. "Lucifer."
The King didn't hesitate to answer his wife. "Yes, Lilith?"
"Thank you for meeting me. But did you really have to reserve the whole restaurant?"
At that, Lucifer sets his menu down. "Well, not like there was much choice. You said that you wanted a private talk. But you made it clear you were not ready to return home yet and you don't want to have it done at the Hotel. This was the next best thing."
After a few moments of silence, Lilith nodded in agreement. "Very well. You know what this is about?"
The King smirks, "You couldn't help but not be in the presence of this cutie? Right, Lily?"
That comment made the Queen grow as small smile. "Not going to lie. I did miss you," the smile dropped. "But no! This is about our granddaughter."
This made Lucifer giddy. "Isn't Celest so precious!?" he digs out his phone to show some photos he took with the little girl. "We totally should do a Grandparents Day! Just the three of us and we…"
"Lucy," Lilith reaches for her husband's hand to calm him down. "That sounds lovely. We can even take her to your Park," the woman smiles. "But this is a serious conversation. You and I both know that no matter what you do, Heaven will never accept a Hellborn child. Especially one related to you. Otherwise, they would have given Charlie wings."
The King simply shrugs. "I guess I was able to get through to them this time, Lily. It's not like Celest could have just willed her wings into existence."
"Did you even meet with Heaven about her?" Lilith asks and the silence is the only answer the woman needed. She sighs, "Perhaps she did will them," the Queen leans in a little. "And you know what that would mean."
Lucifer does his best to keep a straight face. "That's just myth and you know it."
"Many in the Human Realm consider you a myth."
"You know? I always enjoyed meeting Sinners like that. Most are heavily in denial. I remember this one Religious Fanatic who was convinced that this was a test from—"
"Lucy!" the woman snaps and glares at her husband. "Do not change the subject! This is serious! No matter how she came to be, Celest is still a forbidden child of Heaven and Hell. If she truly is—"
"She can't be the Nephilim!" the King shouts as his horns reveal themselves. "You saw what Heaven did when they decided that Hell was overpopulated! Who knows what they'd do if they even thought our granddaughter was the Nephilim!" he calms down before giving his own glare. "I will not let them take Celest and I'll be damned if I let them harm her."
Lilith stared at her husband for a moment before waving for a server. She then takes both hers and Lucifer's menus. "Our appetites have changed," the Queen passes the menus to the server. The woman gets out of her seat. "I've forgotten how adorable you are whenever you lose your temper," walks around the table. "How about we ditch dinner, find a room somewhere, and…" the Queen starts whispering into Lucifer's ear, getting him excited.
As the server was clearing the table they could not help but overhear what was being said. Their face went through different expressions. Surprise, intrigue, confusion, disgust, and horror.
"Now there is one more thing that I must know," the Queen then smiles while setting herself on Lucifer's lap and uses a suggestive tone. "Have you forgotten which rubber duck was my favorite?"
At this, Lucifer laughs. "Have I forgotten which rubber duck?" he then calms before picking up woman bridle style. "Like Hell I did!" and they vanish into light.
The server remains there with a dumbfounded expression before saying. "What the f—"
