Chapter One- Figuring Things Out

Liliana woke up to a ray of sun hitting her directly in the eye. She cursed mornings.

'Why are my curtains not shut', she thought.

Taking a look around with one eye squinted open, she took in her surroundings.

'And where the hell am I?!', she wondered sitting up.

She was currently in a small, dilapidated, and ugly-looking bedroom that could use some work.

It was also strangely familiar.

Deciding that she needed to investigate wherever she had ended up, she moved out of bed to explore.

Her first finding was that something was wrong.

Not with the room per se, but with the fact that the distance between the bed and floor was greater than she anticipated.

Luckily, seeing as she wasn't a Clutz, she only stumbled a little, placing herself perfectly, or suspiciously (whichever way you want to believe,) in front of a mirror on the back of a door.

"Well fuck me sideways and call me Mike," she said in a strangely not worried voice.

"I'm a midget", she stated like a fact.

Trying to recall any memories of what happened she realized she couldn't come up with anything.

Looking at her reflection closer, she realized something else was wrong.

.

.

.

Something called whiskers-

.

.

.

Something she was sure normal humans didn't possess-

.

.

.

Something that she recalled only ever being pictured on a certain character from a certain anime-

.

.

.

A certain anime that she grew up watching-

.

.

.

As in, watching the television-

.

.

.

As in, he was a fictional character-

.

.

.

A fictional character in which it would be impossible for her to-

"WHAT THE FUCKING HELL!?" She finally proclaimed getting over her realization.

she lets the information process for a moment.

Despite her profanity, though, she was ecstatic.

"It happened", she states after a minute of silence.

"It actually has happened", she says again, this time with joy.

'All those years' she thinks, 'all those times wishing I could escape, and it has finally happened.'

Curiously, she starts to cry.

"Thank you," she states looking into space. "Thank you for this opportunity."

'I won't waste it', she promises to her reflection.

Liliana sits on the floor staring at her reflection for several minutes before getting up slowly, as if a sudden movement would break reality.

'This is real' she thinks to herself one final time.

'And I need a plan of action'.

She realizes something else quickly.

'If I'm in the Naruto verse, then I need to figure out where in the timeline I'm at exactly.'

She observes her reflection again.

In the mirror stands a five to eight-year-old-looking, blonde girl. (Sue her, she sucks at guessing ages.) The girl is dressed in an obnoxious orange set of pajamas that are too small. She also has a trademark set of blue eyes and whiskers.

'So, I'm either, right before the Uchiha massacre or right after it, she thinks.

'No wait,' she reconsidered, 'Naruto was always on the smaller side, so he's probably closer to eight or nine.'

'I'm right after the Uchiha massacre' she realizes.

"I can work with that," she says out loud.

'If I am eight then that will give me several years to get stronger before I need to be.'

Liliana, or Naruto from now on, then tries to recall everything from this world she can remember.

It seems Naruto now knows more than Liliana does because she recalls info from both personas; One from the eighteen-year-old with a too-imaginative brain and one from an eight-year-old with a too-imaginative heart.

She realizes quickly that she will be one of the few ninjas to willingly see a therapist.

"I wonder what will happen to the storyline if I just walk up to Danzo and tell him to choke on a bag of dicks…"

She contemplates.

.

.

.

"When I'm stronger" she adds with a grin promising anyone who could see that shit was going to go down.

After letting the new situation she found herself in sink in, she starts to walk over to the bed. Naruto sits back on her bed pondering over what is yet to come.

'I'm too late to save most of the Uchiha', she states to herself.

'Including Shisui', she thinks, feeling sad all of a sudden.

'But you bet your ass I WILL save the angel of a man that is Itachi.' She thinks with her resolve hardening.

' And Nagato, and Obito, and Zabuza.' she thinks confidently.

'Everyone that Naruto manages to change will be saved by these hands' she tells herself with something some would call a will.

'If Naruto could do it, then I WILL also manage.'

"Naruto was there for me when no one else was. I will be there to save the people who originally saved me." Naruto says to herself.

"But first, I need to be able to kick ass." She says getting off her bed.

To say that the village was the size of a city would be an insult to most cities.

Walking towards the Hokage tower (don't ask her how she knew- she just did), Naruto is confronted with the fact that she can easily see all sides of the village.

'I guess a child could manage to get lost here' she supposed.

'But with having the mind of an adult,' she thought, 'It's no worse than being at Disney World.'

Smirking slightly, she looked up on the roofs of the, at most, five-story-tall buildings, trying to catch a glimpse of the famous "ninja jumping" she'd read about.

She doesn't see anything.

Losing interest in staring at buildings, she looks forward again.

Several sneers and looks are sent her way.

'Ah,' she thinks, 'my reverse fanclub'.

She wondered when they would show up.

'This isn't so bad; most fanfiction writers always made it seem like it would be torture to be looked at like this all the time.' She thinks with a roll of her eyes.

'Then again, they probably were one of the kids that had a decent high school experience, unlike my own.'

Arriving at the Hokage tower after the short five-minute walk, Naruto opens the door leading into the building.

She's met with a look of constipation from a mid-twenties' woman behind a desk.

She rolls her eyes at the said woman.

"Hokage-Sama is too busy to see you at the moment, go away, you demon." The woman says, acting like it physically pains her to be in the same room as Naruto.

Naruto ignores her and walks up the stairs leading to the Hokage's office.

"Brat!" She says haltingly getting out of her chair.

"He is busy!" She continues while following Naruto as she reaches for the doorknob to said busy Hokage's office.

Naruto opens the door to meet three different men each sitting in separate chairs.

She recognizes all three of them.

'Perfect', she thinks.

"Naruto!" the banshee all but shouts into said person's ear from behind.

"I told you, Hokage-Sama was busy, you-"

She is interrupted by a door being slammed into her face.

Happy that she managed to rid herself of the vermin, she turns back around to face the men.

The Hokage and Yamanaka stare back at her with amusement.

The Nara stares back at her with amusement mixed with boredom.

She amuses them all further by walking over to the only unoccupied chair and dragging it over to be between the Nara and Yamanaka and in front of the Hokage.

It's a process that takes several seconds, as the chair is about twice the size of Naruto.

Settling in, Naruto decides to start the show.

"Whatcha guys talking about?" She asks while tilting her head.

The men look at each other and the Hokage lifts an eyebrow.

"May I ask, Naruto", the old man questions, " why you decided to grace us with your presence today?"

Naruto shrugs, then replies-

"I had something important to tell you and I didn't want to wait."

"Wouldn't you like to tell me when Shikaku-san and Inoichi-san here are gone? That way you will have my undivided attention?" He questions.

Naruto ponders for a second.

"No," she states, "It's really, super important."

Sarutobi gets a curious and slightly concerned look on his face then looks at the other two men present.

They seemed curious with traces of amusement still intertwined.

Then Naruto wipes the looks off of all the men's faces with one sentence-

"I know who my parents are." She says with a serious face.

The Sandaime narrows his eyes for a second before quickly, and quietly, signaling his Anbu to leave the room. He then pushes his chakra into a seal on the underside of his desk which enables the silencing of seals throughout the room.

Looking back at Naruto he speaks in a serious voice-

"And where did you learn that from?" He asks curiously.

Naruto hesitates for a split second before sealing her fate.

"No one told me, I know because I'm not from this world."

The air is quiet with disbelief from two of the ninjas before the third one speaks up.

"Really?", he drags, "Alternate universe? For being the self-acclaimed number one prankster, you sure are slow on coming up with a story on the spot." The Nara finishes.

The Sandaime sighs and decides to follow up the Nara's explanation.

"Naruto, I know you enjoy our times together, as do I, but we were in the middle of a very important discussion and-"

"Namikaze Minato and Uzumaki Kushina,"

Naruto interrupts in a bored voice.

The Hokage spluttered.

The Nara sits up straight.

The Yamanaka gets a surprised look on his face. He is the first one to speak.

"Hokage-sama, she can't be serious! The Fourth never had any children..." He trails off in an unsure voice.

The Nara looks at her more closely than before.

'I've thought she resembled Minato-san, but I never put too much thought into it. She does have both of their features though. It's not impossible.' He thinks while trying to catch a glimpse of his Hokage.

The Hokage keeps his face completely blank throughout this exchange.

"Now, tell me Naruto, where did you hear that from?" He asks, no longer the kind old man, but the questioning Hokage.

Naruto sighs.

"I know it's hard to believe," she says quietly, looking at each man individually," but It's the truth."

None of the men believe her so she continues.

"I am not from this world. I'm from a world where there are no ninjas, there is no chakra, and there aren't any tailed beasts running around-"

A sharp intake of breath is heard from the Yamanaka.

"-And yes, I know about that too." She continues making the three men more worried.

The Nara speaks up with suspicion in his voice.

"How do you explain knowing about the Fourth and the Kyuubi then? If your world doesn't have them then you shouldn't know about them." He states edging back into a bored slouch.

"In my world, we have stories," she answers him, "and your world is one of them."

There is silence for a minute.

The Hokage speaks up again.

"So, we are a book to that world then? " He asks.

Naruto looks at him with surprise.

"Kinda, I suppose." She says uncertainty. Then more convincingly-

"And it's a book I've read completely through, several times." She lets the information sink in.

"So," the Nara once again draws, " since you've already read the book, you would happen to know what comes next then?"

His words register with both of the other men at the same time.

"Ah, yes," concludes the Hokage, "this would be important information after all." He says smiling slightly at Naruto.

"If," he continues, turning serious once more, "you can prove that what you are saying is true."

All of the men look at her expectantly.

'Hmmm, what to tell them'She thinks.

'I don't want to tell them everything because I don't want them acting without my opinion, then again, I want them to know most of what happens so I don't make anything worse and so that they can help me through this.'

'So, something small, but capable of showing them that I'm not lying.'

"Okay," she says after a minute of thinking, "On Naruto's third attempt at passing the ninja academy, he ends up failing to graduate. Mizuki, one of his sensei, tricks Naruto into sealing the forbidden scroll for Naruto to "pass"."

She takes a breath and then continues.

"Mizuki is later found out to have been working for Orochimaru." She concludes.

The Hokage takes in the information with a wince.

"So, you are accusing one of my men of being a spy?" He states clearly.

"Yes", she replies without hesitation.

"If you are to look, you will also find that he carries the curse mark" " she throws in.

At this point, Naruto and the two clan heads watch as their leader makes his way out of his chair and over to the window. All is silent for a couple minutes as everyone waits for his response.

Finally, the Sandaime looks back at his guest with a slightly depressed look on his face. He speaks with an air of certainty.

"The mere fact that you know of these things, such as your parents and the Kyuubi, tells me that you are not the Naruto any of us knows."

It takes Naruto a couple of seconds to realize what he is trying to get at before she replies with a mournful smile.

"I still am your Naruto, old man," Naruto says finally acknowledging it herself.

"I'm still the girl who grew up in the leaf village and I'm still the girl who will kick your ass for the title of "God of shinobi" and Hokage, Dattebayo!" She declares before quickly regretting her choice of words.

"Someone please kick me in the shin whenever I say that word…" she mentions with a look of horror on her face.

The Hokage chuckles to himself and both clan heads seem to relax finally after the declaration.

"Shikaku-san," the Sandaime asks, "what is your opinion of all this?"

The Nara looks at Naruto for a second.

"Troublesome," he replies, then looks back at the Sandaime.

"But I do believe she is telling the truth." He says with a nod.

The Sandaime looks at the Yamanaka next.

"She hasn't told a lie at all," he admits, "And if she proves right about the traitor then she must be telling the truth."

"So," the Hokage turns his head towards Naruto, "How do you suppose we go about this dimensional-travel claim, Naruto-chan?"

Relaxing a bit at the fact that everything is surprisingly going smoothly, she answers him.

"I will be honest with you three, I don't want to tell you everything that happens or everything that I know has happened. I hope you understand my reasoning, I don't want to change everything bad that happens. For one, if I start off the bat changing everything then I might not have control over the bigger things later on. And second," she hesitates to say what's on her mind, " And second, some things that have happened or are going to happen are, in the end, best for everyone." She finishes with a pointed look at Hiruzen.

The Hokage seems to get her point since a dark look comes over his face as he thinks about the sole Uchiha left in the village.

Meanwhile, there's a knock on the door.

"You may enter." The Hokage replies looking up.

The same Grinch from earlier walks in with a halfway-decent smile on her face.

"Hokage-sama, your next appointment is in fifteen minutes." She says ignoring Naruto this time.

"Oh, time sure flies, thank you, Mina-chan." he smiles back.

She leaves the room and closes the door behind her.

"Bitch," Naruto whispers to herself.

The Hokage raises an eyebrow and Naruto shrugs her shoulder at him.

"Well, today has been an interesting day, hasn't it, Shikaku-san? Inoichi-san?" The Hokage questions.

Both men smile before Inoichi replies.

"Like having the Yondaime back again." He says with a sad smile.

Everyone in the room returns his smile.

"Speaking of my father," Naruto asks, "did he or my mother leave anything for me to claim?"

The Hokage gets a contemplating look on his face.

"I will be honest with you, Naru-chan, both of your parents had plenty of money each and I am hesitant to even show you the number of scrolls and weapons those two managed to obtain in their youths." He speaks.

"Do you think I can have enough to help pay for a personal trainer?" She asks, getting down to the main reason she came to the Hokage's tower.

"Hmmm," the Hokage ponders, "what would you like to be trained in?"

Naruto takes half a second to answer him.

"I want to start on my basics and make sure they are perfected as soon as possible."

She takes a deep breath and internally screams at herself for her next words.

"I would like the help of a taijutsu master and would request Might Gai to be my teacher."

All three men sweatdrop at her declaration and look at her with worry for her safety.

"I'm sure you wouldn't need that much help with your taijutsu, Naruto-kun," Inoichi replies trying to talk the suicidal girl down.

Naruto sighs and proceeds to get up out of her chair and stand in a textbook academy stance.

Everyone winces.

"I will let Gai-san know he has an apprentice offer when he gets back from his mission in a week." The Hokage says while mentally preparing himself to get used to a "Might Gai" corrupted Naruto.

It isn't possible.

"We will meet here in a week and a half to go over your planned schedule with Might Gai, should he choose to accept you as an apprentice."

The Hokage then looks at the Nara who is now half asleep.

"And we will also discuss the findings with Mizuki then." He concludes to the others.

"Naruto-chan, you are dismissed for the moment, may I suggest that you head over to the library to pick out a few books on different fighting styles?" He asks her while reaching into his desk and pulling out a piece of paper.

He signs the paper and then hands it over to Naruto.

"This will get you into the genin section of the library, use it wisely Naruto." He says with a wink.

Naruto smiles up at him and takes the paper.

"Arigato, Jiji." She tells him.

And as she walks out the door-

"Have fun discussing Jiraiya-Sama's new book you three!"

All three of the men splutter and Naruto leaves with an evil and knowing smile on her face that makes the receptionist lady flinch away.

'Now, which way is the library' she tries to remember.

The original Naruto never needed to find it.

After about ten minutes of wandering around the same square, she manages to locate it. It's an indistinguishable building that's about the size of a three-story tall home.

Entering the building she realizes that it's pretty empty and that there is only one chunin guard at the front desk. She recognizes the guard on duty.

"Hello, ninja-san. Hokage-sama told me to give this to you." She says handing him the slip of paper.

Kotetsu takes it and looks at it for a second before handing it back to her.

"Alright, seems good," pointing to the corner on the side wall, "that's the genin section over there. The rest in this room is all civilian stuff so anything on this floor you can look at. Just don't go up the stairs." He finishes in a bored voice.

"Arigato, ninja-san." She replies, walking over to the section.

"No problem, gaki, if you need anything just holler." He replies going back to doing nothing.

At the scrolls, Naruto manages to pick out two different types of fighting styles that interest her. One of which is a defensive type of style that reminds her of what little she knows of Krav Maga. The other is a dancing type of fight called "whirling leaf".

She wonders if she can combine them both and mentally notes down to ask Gai-san if he accepts her.

Naruto spends about an hour alone with the books and guard before someone else walks into the library.

She recognizes him as Kotetsu's "other half".

Making her way back to the scrolls to look at anything else interesting she eavesdrops on their conversation.

"Fun day?" Izumo asks Kotetsu.

"Better than guarding the gate, at least we have an air conditioner in here." He replies with a stretch.

Izumo takes a side glance at the sole girl in the room.

"At least we don't interact with annoying brats at the gate," he says with a slight glare.

Kotetsu looked over at his friend with a slightly peeved look, then looked back at Naruto who was trying to pretend that she didn't just hear that even though she was only ten feet away.

"Hey chibi-chan," Kotetsu calls to Naruto, "What is it you are studying so studiously over there?"

Izumo gives him a sideways glance now.

Putting one of the scrolls down on her table, she answers him.

"I'm having to relearn my fighting techniques. I've recently been made aware that my sensei has been teaching me wrong."

she tells him.

Both ninjas look at each other and then look at her again.

"How are you sure that it's your teacher being wrong and not you?" Kotetsu asks with his brows furrowed.

" Because" Naruto replies, "every other sensei has told me my stance is wrong, yet Mizuki- -sensei was the one to teach me and he says it's okay."

"Have you told anyone about your problem?" Izumo asks this time.

Naruto smiles at him.

"Hokage-Jiji knows. He said he will talk to Mizuki-sensei." She tells them both.

Izumo gives a small smile back at Naruto.

'What teacher would purposely try to salvage their student's work' Izumo thinks to himself in slight disbelief.

Kotetsu thinks along the same line.

'While she may be the holder of the monster, a sensei should never purposely corrupt his student' he tells himself while frowning.

Kotetsu then grins at both of them as he gets an idea.

"Hey, gaki, we were about to take a 30-minute break and close the place down for a while until someone else came for the evening shift. Would you like to go eat some dango with us?" He finishes, looking at her expectantly.

Naruto gets a surprised look on her face before turning towards Izumo.

"Would that be okay with you, ninja-san?" She asks him.

Izumo looks at Kotetsu then back at Naruto.

"It's okay with me I guess," he looks back at Kotetsu, " as long as he pays."

Kotetsu sighs.

"Just don't eat too much and we should be fine."

Naruto and Izumo both reply with a "yes, sir" and a smirk at the same time.

Kotetsu sighs again.

"Let me grab my scrolls really quick before we leave." Naruto then says.

"Okay", they both reply while standing by the entry.

Naruto then grabs her four scrolls; two on the taijutsu styles, one on a beginner fuinjutsu that she grabbed to test out, and the last on elemental jutsu to look into. Her hands are full walking towards the chunins. They both smirk at her.

"What a nerd", Kotetsu says.

Naruto rolls her eyes at them, and they leave the library together.

Comparative to the first half of the day, dinner was rather boring. Besides a single glance at her, the dango shop owner didn't say anything about Naruto. Whether that had to do with what type of person they were or the two chunins at her side, Naruto didn't know.

After saying goodbye and thanks to Kotetsu and Izumo, Naruto decided she would head home for the night even though it was only seven. Taking the quick way to her house, she breathed in the fresh, crisp air.

'I can't believe I've only been in this world for a few hours, I feel like this place has always been my home.' She thinks to herself.

Arriving at her apartment building, Naruto unlocks her door on the second floor.

Closing the door behind her and placing her scrolls on the kitchen counter, she takes in her room for the second time today.

'I guess tomorrow will be spent on changing this place around.'

She takes a look at her orange jumpsuit she has been ignoring all day.

'And getting a badass outfit' she adds.

Looking around the room again she wishes she had a TV or some company.

Clapping her hands together, she decides something.

"Yosh!" She speaks.

(Meanwhile, the Hokage for some reason jumps a foot in the air back in his office and scares his Anbu guard.)

"Tomorrow I will go and learn exactly what I am capable of!" She exclaims to no one.

'One step at a time towards badassery, Naruto.' she tells herself.

'We will get there soon.'

End chapter!

Author's note:

Hi, guys! I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself at the beginning, but you can call me Jean. I wanted you guys to have a look at my writing first before I told you this: This is my first time writing a fanfic or any story that is not a school-related activity (English was always my worst subject and I never actually wrote more than a 1,500 long essay).

Anyway, I've recently decided to try my hand at fanfiction. Yay me, right? I'm sure there are plenty of grammar mistakes in this first chapter, as I'm sure will be in the next ones. I will try my best to make sure they're not too atrocious.

Moving on to the actual story- What do you guys think so far? And where would you guys like me to go? I do have some ideas such as ships and how badass I want Naruto to be. Other than that, I'm kind of making things up as I go.

Also, I will explain more about how "Liliana" turned into "Naruto" in the next few chapters so bear with me until then, please!

P.s. I have no idea how often I will post new chapters (If I decide not to post them all at the same time.)
