"Now, just act natural, Marinette. You don't want to scare him," Tikki instructed Marinette as they walked towards Adrien Agreste. "There he is," Marinette sighed dreamily as she watched Adrien sign some autographs for a group of girls. "My future husband." "Don't think you should get to know him first?" Tikki asked, bursting her bubble. "Just act natural. Act cool." Nikki shook her head. "Mm-hm. Just act natural." "Got it."
Marinette felt her heart beating with every footfall of her feet, nervous yet excited.
"Hi, I'm Marinette Dupain-Cheng. I met you yesterday?" Adrien's green eyes lit up. "Oh, yes," he remembered, shaking her hand. "Your the girl who I gave my umbrella too." "Your dad is my favorite designer!" Marinette blurted.
"I have all his fashion magazines, and I have his guide to Introductory Sewing. I want to be a designer just like him someday." "Very nice to meet you, Marinette." He could tell the girl was a little starstruck, but it was the genuine kind, not the fake kind he'd witnessed often. Her bluebell eyes shone happily.
"Do you like modeling?" Marinette asked. Adrien blushed. "I mostly do it to please my dad, but when I get to meet fans like you, its not so bad." He could tell she could be a shy girl, shy, yet cute.
"Of course your model, your outfit's stellar," Marinette waved her hand at his outfit. "Now your just flattering me," Adrien grinned, but he did love his hunter green pullover and this brand of comfy jeans.
Marinette nodded, silently, looking down, her face now clouded over. What is she looking at?
He wondered. Marinette bit her lip for a second, then smiled brightly. "Well, it was nice meeting you. See you in class!"
Adrien watched her hurry away, the whispered to his Kwami. "Why did she run off like that?" "Didn't you realize she was giving a Miranda look from Devil Wears Prada?" Plagg asked. They had watched the movie recently. Adrien felt his stomach churn. "My shoes," it hit him. "Plagg, she didn't like my shoes!"
In the classroom….
"I think that first meet went well, don't you?" Marinette asked as she sat down. "Good job, Marinette! You didn't stammer or anything!" But Marinette wasn't listening. She drew out her sketchpad and immediately started sketching. "But did you see those awful orange shoes? I need to come up with a design right away!"
Tikki giggled as Marinette scribbled away frantically. She could already tell these two would be a perfect match someday. Now, about those shoes….
