A/N The Brave Locomotive's an online train cartoon, about a little blue tender engine who's Casey Jr. from Dumbo like in appearance, but with some British features like Thomas and acts like Tillie from The Little Engine That Could. The Casey Jr. elements of Linus might TBL's creator used to work for Disney, which shows in the cartoon's overall style being almost like a Disney short, so people get classic Disney vibes.
Linus, an older sentient engine, had recently lost his engineer Henry. Scarlet, his widow, comforted the sad little engine, who was also concerned about dieselization. He began to cry, great wailing sobs as huge tears poured from his eyes as many and as fast as possible and he sniffled, long and loud. His face was wet with tear as he wept, loud and hard as he could.
Scarlet, on his buffer beam, pulled out a cloth from her pocket and softly dried his tears. "There, there, Linus," she said, a sympathetic expression on her face as she looked compassionately at him. "I miss Henry so much myself. I got your hanky, so just let it all out. I can handle it, because I'm not afraid of emotion. A good cry can bring relief, if you engines are anything like me. When I feel unhappy, I often feel so much better when I sob." She rubbed his sodden cheeks and wiped his tear-filled eyes.
Linus went on wailing, fresh tears welling up. He sniffled again, hard, coughed as he choked on his wailing sobs and hiccupped. He gasped and gulped, shaking as tears poured from his eyes, not once stopping and let Scarlet comfort him still.
She said, as she continued to wipe his tears away, " Cry it out, into your hanky. I'm here for you, to wipe your eyes until they're dry and offer my support and understanding. You've got my comfort until you feel better. I know how much you're hurting and have a broken heart, so I just want to dry your eyes. Your heartfelt wailing sobs tell me of your unspeakable pain.". She pressed the cloth to his eyes to let him sob into it and wiped all his tears away as best she could.
Linus wailed endlessly, until he had no more tears left. Scarlet dried his last tears away, wiping his cheeks and eyes until they were dry, then put the sodden cloth back in her pocket.
In the days to come, Linus had the comfort of Scarlet and Katrina and also got a new engineer. One day, he was told the board wanted a diesel to take over his job. Linus's engineer told him about the island of Sodor.
"You're a little engine, Linus, so maybe I can take you to the island of Sodor, when that diesel comes," his engineer said. "I shall have to speak to the controller, Sir Topham Hatt."
Linus asked, "Where's this Sodor?"
His engineer said, "It's a place where steam engine are safe, if they're Really Useful Engines. It's in the British Isles.".
"Is there anything I need to know about Sodor?" Linus asked.
His engineer said, "Because it's British, we need to learn some new words, as their English and ours differ some. It's called dialect."
They finished their talk. The days past and then the time for Linus and his crew to travel to Sodor came.
A/N This story's set in olden days, shortly after the end of the cartoon Linus is from, so old-fashioned talk's used some. This is multi-chapter, so next chapter will be Linus traveling to Sodor and then I'll tell the story of his life on the island, however much I feel like.
