Summary: The Lotus Ninjas and Irma are dealing with a dangerous polymorph yokai.
In Eastman High, a popular blonde-haired mean girl was applying lipstick on her lips in front of her mirror inside the hallway. She then placed her lipstick inside and closed her locker. As she took her leave, she accidentally bumped into a mysterious young woman. She has pale skin, long black hair with a fringe, and violet eyes. She wore a long-sleeved violet blazer, a matching violet skirt, and greyish-blue leather boots.
"Hey, what's the big idea?" The mean girl snapped as she stared angrily at the mysterious woman. "You need to watch where you're going!"
The mysterious woman stared at the mean girl with narrowing eyes. The mean girl's eyes lit up in shock and fear when the mysterious woman opened her mouth and screeched menacingly, making her scream at the top of her lungs and turning around to run for her life.
The mysterious woman formed a wicked smile on her face.
"What a pathetic, weakling human. Not worth my time." The mysterious woman said.
At noon, the school bell rang for a lunch break. Donna and Irma sat together in front of the computers inside the computer lab, where they began typing on their homework assignments.
"Done and done." Irma smiled.
"Now, we'll have some free time." Donna said.
"I heard the school's having a food truck event tonight." Irma said.
"Oh yeah." Donna said. "Ellie told me about this morning. Seriously, how much food can that girl eat?"
"Tell me about it." Irma giggled.
Suddenly, Irma and Donna heard a low hissing. They looked around to search the lab room, but they saw nothing.
"Where's that sound coming from?" Donna asked.
"Beats me." Irma replied with a shrug.
Then, out of nowhere, the mysterious woman appeared in front of the opening door. Donna and Irma gasped in a mix of fear and surprise.
"Oh hello. Are you one of the substitute teachers?" Donna said.
"Maybe she's the sub for the art club?" Irma said to Donna.
"A teacher, no." The mysterious woman replied with a grin. "But substitute, you can say that."
Then suddenly, the mysterious woman's right arm extended into greenish-black razor-sharp claw. She stabbed past Donna and Irma straight to the wall, making the girls freak out in alarm.
"Run?!" Donna exclaimed.
"I'm good with that!" Irma shouted back.
Irma and Donna dashed out of the computer lab as they headed to a nearby classroom. The mysterious woman walked inside the classroom and searched around, unaware that the girls were hiding quietly under the teacher's desk.
"Okay, this is not right." Irma whispered. "That doesn't take me two minutes to know that the woman is a yokai. Like the one you and tour sisters fought before?"
"Yeah, no doubt about it." Donna said quietly.
Suddenly, the razor-sharp claw stabbed the desk past Donna and Irma. Donna and Irma stared at the claw with scared faces for a moment before moving away from the desk and out of the classroom. Irma and Donna then immediately ran away in different directions. Irma ran into the girls' restroom while Donna ran into the science lab.
Soon, the mysterious woman headed into the science lab and looked around for the girls. Up above, Donna was hanging on the ceiling. She then quietly dropped on her feet and held an icy blue-colored, orb-shaped potion in her hand.
As the mysterious woman spun around, Donna tossed her potion at it. Once the icy blue liquid covered the mysterious woman, Donna rushed out of the science lab and closed the door behind her just as Irma ran up to her.
"I don't know what you did there, but I don't think it's gonna hold her long." Irma said.
"Not to worry. It's my freeze-dry potion." Donna said. "It just takes a while to work."
Donna and Irma entered the science lab as they found only a piece of the mysterious woman's right claw frozen in ice on the floor.
"Oh no. She got away." Irma said.
"But at least, she left us a clue." Donna said.
Donna and Irma walked up to the frozen hand claw. Donna magically shrank it and placed it in an empty beaker.
"We can analyze this back in my lab, so we can see what she's been up to in our school." Donna said.
In the Crete Fortress, the Lotus Ninjas already finished their training session with Saldana in the dojo. They walked out of the dojo and headed into Donna's lab.
"Man, I'm beat." Ellie said with a heavy sigh.
"You and me both." Ella agreed. "At least we can relax."
"Not yet." Lee said. "Donna and Irma have something important they want to tell us first."
"And then relaxation?" Ellie pleaded.
"And then relaxation." Lee said.
"Alright, get this. Irma and I were finishing our Spanish assignment in the computer lab." Donna explained.
"And then what?" Ella asked.
"Then, this weird woman came out of nowhere and started attacking us all crazy." Donna added. "But the weirdest thing is her hand turned into crazy sharp claws. My freeze-dry potion caught her, but she disappeared without a trace. The only thing she left was her claw hand."
The Lotus Ninjas entered inside Donna's lab, where Irma was analyzing the mysterious woman's sharp claw on the scanner. The girls watched as the screen pulled up a holographic image of a featureless greenish-black liquid-esque creature with olive green eyes on its face.
"According to the scanner and the files from the yokai data, the woman that attacked us is a yokai called a Phasm." Irma explained. "As polymorphs, they can change their size and shape at will as well as copying one's abilities. They are considered as one of the most dangerous yokais in history."
Phantom suddenly teleported into the lab and projected a holographic image of the high school through her eyes.
"Donatella, there's a Phasm sighting located at Eastman High." Phantom announced.
"Thanks, Phantom." Donna said.
"Keep searching more info however you can, Irma." Lee said. "The four of us will head back to the school for more clues."
Back at Eastman High, the Lotus Ninjas arrived inside the gymnasium and began searching around for the Phasm.
"I still don't get why a yokai blob would be in our school of all places." Ellie said.
"You and me both." Lee agreed.
"Looking for me, girls?"
The Lotus Ninjas got startled and immediately turned their heads to see the Phasm appearing on the bottom bleachers.
"Oh, snap! There it is!" Ellie exclaimed, pointing her finger at the blob yokai.
"That's right." Donna said.
"Care to explain why you attack Donna and Irma earlier?" Lee asked with a confused face.
"Just for fun, of course." The Phasm replied. "I've been shapeshifting into many humans throughout many centuries." It formed a tentacle and stretched it to point at Donna. "That is, until she uses a potion on me. No doubt you are a mystic as well as the rest of you." Its tentacle retreated to its body. "And since you came on this way to find me, let's have some fun."
The Phasm sprang up high in the air and landed on the floor. It began to morph itself into a perfect replica of Donna. That earned stunned faces from the Lotus Ninjas, especially Ellie.
"What the heck?!" Ellie screamed. "She transformed into Donna!"
With a smirk, the Phasm-Donna stomped her left boot and summoned a pillar of rocks towards the Lotus Ninjas. But the Lotus Ninjas dodged the rock pillar at swift speed. The Phasm-Donna created several pebbles from the floor and launched them at the Lotus Ninjas in a bullet-like fashion, making them scatter away from different directions.
"There's room for only one Donatella around here!" Donna yelled. "And that copycat got to go!"
"Yeah, you said it!" Ella agreed.
As the Lotus Ninjas evaded the compressed air spheres from the Phasm-Donna, Donna ducked in a full split and pressed both hands on the floor. Donna's earth magic erupted a large stone slab, knocking the Phasm-Donna up in the air and sending her to crash hard to the ground. The Phasm-Donna stood up and turned around with an angry growl, but her eyes widened in surprise when Donna snapped her fingers. The large stone slab then fell onto the Phasm-Donna and crushed her beneath it.
"Nice work, D." Ellie said with a thumb-up.
Donna walked up to stare at the stone slab and crushed it into tiny pieces that revealed an unconscious Phasm on the ground.
"Let's head to the science lab for more analysis." Donna said.
In the science lab, Donna looked at the unconscious Phasm on a dissection pan as Ellie, Lee, and Ella gathered behind her.
"Kaibō-gaku o akiraka ni suru." Donna casted as she lifted her glowing hands forward.
Surges of purple magical energy surrounded the dissection pan and projected a large image of external and internal anatomy of the Phasm.
"Anything worth our interest?" Ella asked as she placed her hands on her hips.
"Oh definitely. Not the Phasm can shapeshift into anyone it wants, but it can copy their abilities upon contact." Donna said.
"That would've explained it copied you earlier." Ellie said as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"Irma wasn't kidding when she said it is dangerous." Lee said.
The Phasm suddenly woke up, which the Lotus Ninjas took notice of. It leaped out of dissection pan and morphed itself into a perfect replica of Lee. The real Lee and her sisters backed away in surprise.
The Phasm-Lee growled and enveloped her fists with water energy. Before she can attack the real Lee, Ella quickly punched the Phasm-Lee away.
"Hey, stay away from our sister, you fake!" Ella yelled.
The Phasm-Lee growled and charged forward. Ella engulfed her hands with fire magic and blasted a fiery beam that hit the Phasm-Lee to the wall. The Phasm-Lee struggled to stand up as the flames melted her into a large puddle.
"Looks like we've found its weakness." Ellie said.
"Nice work, Ella." Lee commented.
"So, Phasms can't stand heat temperatures." Donna said.
"Let's head back to the fortress, so we can inform Irma what happened." Lee said.
Just as the Lotus Ninjas were ready to teleport to the Crete Fortress, the Phasm crawled and lashed onto Ellie's back.
With that, the Lotus Ninjas vanished out of the science lab.
The Lotus Ninjas reappeared inside Donna's lab, where Irma was waiting for them.
Then suddenly, the Phasm hopped off from Ellie's backs. They landed on the floor and began morphing into the perfect replica of Irma, which caught the girls' attention with shocking eyes.
"Hiya." The smiling twin greeted with a wicked smile.
"What the?!" Ellie cried out in shock.
"I thought we took care of this blob." Ella said in utter puzzlement. "My fire magic melted it."
"Well, I did further research and learned that Phasms are indeed vulnerable to fire." Irma explained.
"Someone did their research. Sadly, it wasn't strong enough to take me down. It was more of a sauna." Phasm said. "But you are missing one important detail about me."
The Phasm-Irma pulled out a portion of fluid from her body and dropped it to the floor one by one, transforming them into several fake Lotus Ninjas and Irma copies.
The real Lotus Ninjas and Irma gasped in shock.
"Get them!" The Phasm-Irma commanded, pointing her finger at the Lotus Ninjas and Irma.
The Phasm-Lotus Ninjas obeyed and charged forward. The real Lotus Ninjas delivered swift punches and kicks at each of morphic duplicates coming in their way. Lee, Ellie, Ella, and Donna then released their elemental magic to strike every morphic duplicate. But each morphic duplicate retaliated with their elemental magic, no matter how many kicks and punches they threw at them.
Then, the Lotus Ninjas huddled together side by side in fighting stances.
"There's no end to this!" Ellie shouted.
"There's gotta be a way to destroy these copies!" Ella said.
Irma began spreading out multicolored marbles at the Phasm-Irmas, exploding the morphic duplicates with explosions. But more Phasm-Irmas came dashing towards Irma. Irma continued throwing more explosive marbles, but more Phasm-Irmas kept on coming and tried to land a strike. After having no more explosive marbles in her possession, Irma quickly huddled with the Lotus Ninjas.
"I've got nothing." Irma said. "There's gonna be a way to end this fight."
Suddenly, Lee got an idea.
"Wait a minute. Remember how the yokai melted like a puddle back at the school?" Lee said. She turned her head to Ella. "What if Ella did it again, but supernova?"
"That might work!" Donna said. "But she got it to do it without burning up my lab and the entire fortress."
"You got it." Ella nodded.
"Concentrate your fire at full power. We'll take care of the rest." Lee said.
As Ella took off to the desk, the Phasm-Lotus Ninjas and Phasm-Irma assembled and charged forward to the red mystic kunoichi. Lee, Ellie, and Donna swiftly attacked the morphic duplicates with their magic just before Irma tossed icy blue marbles and encased them in solid ice.
"Thanks, girls!" Ella said.
Ella then hopped over to the desk and closed her eyes as she concentrated on her fire magic.
Three Phasm-Ellas ran up to Ella with quick speed, but Irma confined them in solid ice with her icy blue marbles.
"All of the duplicates are sealed. Now, we just have to deal with the real Phasm." Irma said.
Irma watched as Lee, Ellie, and Donna swiftly fought off the Phasm with effortless agility and reflexes. Her eyes widened wide in amazement to see the three mystic kunoichis battling the morphic yokai at lightning speed.
"It's official. I'm asking Saldana for ninja lessons." Irma said to herself.
Ella sprang high up in the air above everyone as she's already engulfed herself in a large barrier of swirling fire. Lee, Donna, and Ellie quickly took notice. They stood together and aimed their arms forward, forming a large multicolored force field around Ella and the Phasm. At the same time, Ellie's eyes glowed bright orange and telekinetically levitated the Phasm and her frozen duplicates in mid-air within the closing force field. Ella She then unleashed her fire magic in a fiery supernova that expanded all around the force field. The Phasm screamed in horror as she and her frozen duplicates were engulfed with scorching flames. Once three mystic sisters dropped the force field, Ella landed safely on the floor just as the Phasm melted straight into a large puddle on the floor while groaning in pain.
"Good work, Ella!" Lee smiled.
"No sweat." Ella smiled back with a thumb up.
"And as for you." Donna said as she turned to the groaning Phasm.
The Phasm looked shakily frightened when she saw Donna walking up to her. Donna conjured a high-tech metal tin box in one hand and opened the lid that unlocked a large vortex, pulling in the screaming yokai through the portal and shutting the lid tight.
"Whew, I'm glad that's over." Ellie said as she collapsed on a chair.
"What did you have time to make that?" Irma asked, pointing her finger at the tin box.
"I made this box to contain yokais since the whole Baku thing." Donna replied. "Nice job on the ice marbles by the way."
"Thanks." Irma smiled. "I was able to borrow your ice potion formula to make it work."
"Can we relax now?" Ellie whined. "I can really go for a pizza and a movie night."
"Heh, you read my mind, sis." Donna grinned.
