In an abandoned subway system, the turtles were searching for something with their flashlights.

Mikey: What, you might ask would any sane turtle be doing in an abandoned subway tunnel deep under the city?

The ground started to shake, taking the turtles out of their thoughts. The ceiling started to crack above the turtles and it looked like it was going to fall on them.

A tunnel so decayed, it's going to collapse with just one little noise.

From the shadows, a giant monster started to roar at the turtles. Mikey was scared to death but Leo, Raph, and Donna were ready to fight. The ceiling started to collapse along with the wood beams supporting the ceiling.

Funny, I'm asking myself the same question.

The turtles ran back away from the falling ceiling.

Currently, Mikey was watching a horror movie. It was in black and white and two humans were about to be killed by a monster. "Doctor, I've never seen anything like it."

"Me neither, Velma. I'm rapidly becoming convinced..."

"There are some things... man was never meant to tamper with," Mikey said along with the doctor in the movie.

Then the movie went to a commercial. "I must be insane. I'd eat a bug to sell you a car." As Micky was eating his chips, the man in the commercial ate the bug. "Hmm, Mmm, That's good eating. If that don't tell you that I got the best used car deals in town..." Mikey turned off the TV and yawned as he stood up and stretched.

In Donna's labs, she was studying some blue crystals that were perplexing her. "Hey, D, whatcha doing?" He asked his sister.

"I'm checking these crystals we found when we moved in here. I'm trying to classify them but I can't find anything like them in the books. The microscopic crystal structures are linked, almost like mutated brain cells."

Mikey made a horror movie sound in her ear. "Ooh, wee, ooh!"

"Mikey, what are you doing? No, why are you doing that?" She asked him.

"Late night monster movies." He shined a flashlight on his face to look scary. "Perhaps there are some things man was never meant... to tamper with." He laughed at his joke but Donna just rolled her eyes. "Nothing says a turtle can't tamper though." Mikey grabbed the crystals and put them together. a light started to emit from them, confusing both Donna and Mikey. A loud sound also started to emit from it.

Splinter left his room once he heard the sound. "Donatella, what is it?" Leo got out of his room and yawned loudly. Raph and Leo jumped to the ground floor and walked to Donna's lab. "What is happening?"

"What's with the noise?" Raph asked as he followed suit.

"I'm... not quite sure," Donna told them. 'I've started books about crystals for weeks and learned how they are made and their structures but I've never heard of a crystal that emits notes.'

Deep underground, three monsters with glowing eyes could hear the sound emitting from the crystals.

After Mikey set the crystals on Donna's desk, she used a pair of big tweezers to pick up one of the crystals. "Are we in any danger, Donatella?" Splinter asked her.

She turned to him and said, "Maybe the harmonics of the energy signature of the crystaline structure..." She said a bit unsure.

Raph caught on to her unsureness. "You don't know, do ya?"

"Not a clue," She told him.

Mikey came up to Raph and Donna and put his hands on the shoulders. "I started the whole thing."

An alarm started to go off. "Now what is it?" Leo asked.

Donna set the crystal down and went to her computer. "Something tripped the perimeter alarm in one of the old subway tunnels," She told them as her brothers and father joined her. They watched the security footage and something ran so fast on the cams, they barely caught a glimpse of it.

"What in the..." Leo said shocked.

Raph prepared his sais and said, "Sewer rats are getting bigger."

"Yeah, time to cut the cheese," Mikey said determinedly. Leo facepalmed himself and Micky said, "That's not what I meant."

"Let's roll."

The turtles left to find the threat but before Donna walked out, she grabbed her bag of essentials just in case. 'A girl is always prepared, even for situations like this.'

Using the Sewer Slider, the turtles were searching for the creature spotted on the cameras. "Let's not announce ourselves. Switch to stealth mode." Donna pushed a lever forward and once they turned the corner where the creature was spotted, they parked the Sewer Slider.

They looked around some and they couldn't find anything. "Nothing."

Donna looked up and told them, "Don't be so sure." She pointed the flashlight and there were oddly shaped footprints on the ceiling. "This is odd." They followed the prints to a giant hold in the sewer and it wasn't a man-made hole.

"What have you got?" Leo asked her.

"These prints burn right into the stone." They walked over to the hole and looked inside it.

"Whatever it was, it tunneled right into the cement."

Donna handed her flashlight to Raph and set her bag down to get a small hammer. She hid the concrete to get a sample of it along with the dirt. "Looks like molecules have become unbonded." It took a bit but she got a sample that looked like a piece of paper. "Maybe some kind of catalyst or an acid?"

Mikey, who was terrified, said, "Ok. This is the part in the monster movie where the first attack happens." He looked around for an attack that could come from any direction. "This first guy never makes it! And there is always a final girl! Need a say more!"

"Just calm down, Mikey until we find out what this is," Leo told him. He turned to Donna and asked, "What is this?"

She put her bag back on her shoulder and told him, "Another mystery. One thing's for sure though..."

"I've never seen anything like it," Mikey and Donna said at the same time.

"That's it! I'm outta here!" Mikey got in the Sewer Slider and got out his nunchucks. He was ready to fight any threat that came his way.

"Hey, what do you get when you cross a turtle with a chicken?" Raph asked Donna and Leo. They didn't answer him. "Mikey."

Donna smiled internally. "Mikey, those horror movies are going to make you scared of everything. Anyway, I need to get back to analyze this to find out just what we're dealing with here."

As Donna left with her brothers, a creature from the hole stared at them with red glowing eyes.

Back in the turtle's home, Donna was looking at the dirt she brought back home. With a protective face guard, she poured a green chemical on it. Nothing happened to it so she took off the face guard and looked at it with a curious look. "Hmm."

Mikey ran up to her desk and asked, "Was that a good 'hmm' or a bad 'hmm'?" The turtles looked at him as Mikey began to explain more monster movie logic. "Cause this is the part in the movie where we should be looking for the monster's one true weakness or we can kiss out shells goodbye. Trust me, you don't want to underestimate a MONSTER!"

Raph, who was drinking a glass of water, walked up to Mikey and splashed his face with the water."

Mikey shook the water off his face and said, "Thanks."

Splinter walked up and said, "What can you tell us, Donatella?"

"Well, it looks like that creature melted right through the stone. Being about to liquefy stone is the perfect ability for a subterranean lifeform," She told them.

"I am hearing answers that raise more questions. A wise strategist gathers all his information before deciding on a course of action."

Leo stood up from his sitting position and said, "Anybody up for a fact-finding mission?"

"If somebody's out there looking for us, I say we find it first," Raph told them.

"All in favor, say aye!"

"Aye!" Donna, Leo, and Raph put their hands in the center and they looked at Mikey. He smiled nervously at them. "Meep."

"Close enough."

"Good luck, my sons and daughter. May you return safely," Splinter told them.

Donna and Leo left to pack some essentials and Raph was about to join them but Mikey said, "Yes, my brothers and sister, good luck to you." He imitated Splinter and waved goodbye to them.

"Come on." Raph dragged Mikey away and the four of them packed what they needed for the long trip.

Leo grabbed the food that they would take with them, along with a grappling hook. Mikey was reading his monster comic books and was freaking out more and more with each page he read. Raph watched him and crossed his arms. Mikey smiled sheepishly and put the comic back in his bag. Donna put the crystals in her bag. She had a feeling that they would be useful later.

The turtles returned to the weird hole in the wall with everything they would need for the journey. Donna and Leo entered the hole first and Mikey gestured to Raph. "After you." Raph went inside and Mikey was sneaking away until Raph grabbed him and dragged him inside.

The turtles found an abandoned subway station as they were following the footprints of the mysterious creature. "What is this place?" Raph asked.

"There's a whole network of abandoned subway tunnels from the early 1900s down here," Donna told him.

"Abandoned? Right," Mikey commented.

"You hear that creaking?" She shined her flashlight on the ceiling and true to her word, there was creaking above them with dirt falling from the ceiling. "These old supports should have given out long ago. I suggest we all be really, really, quiet." As quiet as they could, they made their way down the tunnel. However, two creatures from the darkness were following them from behind.

"Any sign of the creature's tracks?" Leo asked. He shined the flashlight around the tunnel they were in and Leo found a track on the ground. "Guys?"

They all looked at the print and Mikey's first words were, "Nope. Nothing. Let's go home." Without a word, Leo continued forward with the others following from behind and Mikey followed suit.

The ground started to shake and the ceiling looked more unstable as it shook. "Shh! Everyone, be still!"

Bad timing for Mikey as he needed to sneeze. "Ah... ah... AH...!" Raph covered his mouth quickly.

"Not a sound. Got it!"

Mikey pinched his nose and told him, "I got it. I got it." Leo, Donna, and Raph started to move forward when Mikey sneezed loudly. "AH-CHOO!"

Parts of the ceiling nearly came down but luckily nothing happened. "Mikey, for crying out loud. Next time bring an antihistamine."

"Hey! How am I supposed to stop a... a... huge grotesque and frankly quite horrifying monster?!" They looked at Mikey confused then they turned around and saw a large rock monster with glowing red eyes coming towards them. It roared loudly at them causing the ceiling to shake more. Leo looked up and the wooden beams keeping the rock above them started to fall. The turtles ran as fast as they could from the danger.

They ran into a deep cavern that looked untouched by man. "This just gets better and better."

"Relax, Raph! Give me a second." Donna took out the two crystals she brought with her. The crystals lit up the cavern they were in since their flashlights broke.

"You think that thing survived?" Raph asked.

"Know your monsters, Raph! It can melt rock!" Mikey nearly shouted at him.

"Oh, yeah. Maybe I forgot because I was trying not to get buried in a collapsing subway tunnel!" Raph shouted at Mikey.

"Everybody calm down! Let's keep moving," Leo told them.

Donna leads the way since she had the only light source for them. They soon found the same prints from the sewers and the tunnel. They followed them until they reached an area that looked like a large underground cave. 'Man, I know we live under New York but I never expected something like this to be here.' Donna handed the crystals to Mikey and she took out some rope. Mikey gave the crystals back to her. Donna tied one end of the rope to a sturdy rock and climbed down it. Once she was far enough down, the others followed suit unaware of the same rock monster and a tall blue monster watching them.

They arrived at the bottom and they were pretty exhausted. Donna sat on the ground and when Mikey reached the ground, he said, "I'm beat." He got to his knees and stretched his back out. "Even my backache's got a backache."

Raph and Leo joined suit and they were tired as well. "Let's make camp. You up for first watch?" Leo asked Raph.

Raph got his energy back quickly. He spun his sais in his hands and said, "You know me."

With the crystals being their only light source, they put the crystals in the center like a fire. Donna, Leo, and Mikey slept while Raph stood guard. Raph nearly fell asleep but he shook his head to keep himself awake. 'Stay awake, Raph. Gotta protect your brothers and sister.'

Mikey was passed out and he had a strange dream.

Mikey could see the lair in his dream. he walked to the door and the symbol lit up and flickered as Mikey walked towards it. He walked towards it and reached out to touch it. The door opened and a bright light engulfed him. When the light disappeared, he could see a huge underground city. "What the shell?" He rubbed his eyes then walked forward.

Mikey walked through the city and he didn't know where he was. "Whoa. Where am I?" The city seemed to be empty of all life. "Hello? Anybody here?" His voice echoed, indicating that he was indeed alone. Mikey turned the corner and saw a tall building with a sharp tip. It stood out to him since it was different from everything else. Mikey walked towards it. Before he could get any closer, a large, black, intimidating smoke appeared. It moved in a way that made it seem unreal. The smoke formed eyes and a mouth. "Uh, oh!" The smoke engulfed tried to engulf him but he ran away in fear.

In his sleep, Mikey kept saying, "No, no, no."

Meanwhile, Raph was trying to wake them up. "Guys, wake up! Rise and shine! Everybody up! We're under attack! Our friend is back!"

"So, running would be good, right?"

They could see from a high ledge that something was pushing a giant boulder towards them. "RUN!" The turtles quickly grabbed their things and ran as fast as they could. The boulder chased them down a tunnel like in an Indiana Jones movie.

"Man, don't you hate when this happens?" Mikey asked them jokingly.

They ran away from the boulder until they reached a dead end. "Great, the bridge is out!" Raph told them.

"Now what do we do?' Mikey asked.

Raph got his grappling hook and spun it like a lasso. They saw that the boulder was started to get closer. "Hurry, Raph!" Leo shouted with urgency.

Raph threw the grabbling hook and it wrapped around a stalagmite. Raph made such it was sturdy by pulling on it. "Grab on!" The turtles grabbed the rope and jumped off the bridge just seconds before the boulder destroyed the broken bridge. "COWABUNGA!"

The turtles started to climb the rope and Raph told Mikey, "Mikey, I told you, no more cowabunga." Suddenly, the grappling hook started to lose its grip on the stalagmite. "It's slipping!"

"Now what?!" Mikey asked.

"Crack the whip! On my signal! One... two... THREE!" The turtles used their weight to get on the other side but in the process, Raph lost his grappling hook.

They walked over to the edge and Mikey commented, "I like a little excitement first thing in the morning."

"How are we going to get back with those things bowling for turtles?" Raph asked. The turtles didn't even see their sister walk off after noticing something.

"Boys, look at this!" She showed them an abandoned lab that looked destroyed. "Not to make things worse, but you'll notice the door was forced open. From the inside." She told them as she showed them the destroyed door. "Something was trying to get out."

"Oh, that doesn't make things worse," Mikey commented. "It makes things horrifying!" Leo shushed Mikey and they all went into the lab.

All over the lab equipment was destroyed and there were claw marks everywhere. "Anybody got a clue what this place is?" Raph asked them.

They took their bags off and look around the lab for any clue to what this place was and what happened. "You want a wild guess?" Mikey asked Raph.

Raph looked at Mikey in silence for a minute then said, "No."

They split up and looked around. Donna looked around the lab and recognized all the devices from the books she read. "Guys, I'm seeing devices related to physiology, biology, genome analysis. I'm pretty sure that this is a genetics lab. They were experimenting with mutation."

Mikey sang some horror that he often heard. Raph growled in annoyance causing Mikey to tumble a bit backward. However, he ran into a laser beam causing an alarm to go off. "MIKEY!"

The doors started to close and Donna gestured to a crystal that looked like the one they found in the lair.

"Whoa!"

"What the shell is that?!" Mikey asked as the crystal started to spark with electricity. The crystal started to make a shield that passed through everything it touched.

"It looks like some kind of forcefield, guys!"

Raph took his sais out and was ready to destroy the forcefield but it took it sai like it was nothing and started to push him back. "What now?!"

"Something's telling me, do not touch," Mikey told them.

Raph tried to stop the forcefield but nothing worked. "Gee, ya think?" Raph told him a bit annoyed. The forcefield made them walk back since they were unsure what it would do to them. Donna fell to the ground and Leo asked, "Donna, you okay?"

She put the crystals in her bag and told him, "Looks like this energy field only affects living tissue," She told them as she tried to push the forcefield back.

"Too bad that's exactly what we're made out of!" Raph told her.

Leo jumped over a panel as the forcefield continued to get closer and closer to them. "Donna, what do we do?" Leo asked her as the forcefield forced them against the wall.

"I'm thinking! I'm thinking!"

"Well, think faster or I'm going to be a whole lot thinner!" Mikey told her.

The forcefield was pushing on them hard and Donna looked at the center of the forcefield. "The crystal! It's somehow powering all this! Raph, your sai can go through the field. Aim for the crystal." With the little room he had, Raph grabbed his sai and threw it at the machine where the crystal was. The machine fritz's out with the sai inside it and the shield doesn't seem to let up then it went away. The turtles fell to the ground without a scratch to their shells and the doors opened. "That was a close one, boys," Donna told them as she, along with her brothers, stood up.

"And that's the end of that," Raph told them.

Mikey threw Raph one of his sais and Donna told them, "Sorry, Raph. But this is only the beginning. Look at this." She showed them a flickering video. The video started up and it showed the symbol of the Foot Clan. Her brothers gasped at the sight. "It's the sign of the Foot."

"Every time we have trouble that foot symbol is stamped right on it," Raph told them. Meanwhile, Donna looked around to see if there was a way to play the video. "What is it this time?"

"Let's find out," Leo said.

Donna walked to the panel and found something interesting. "These look like some kind of archived video logs. I'll see if I can access them." She started up the video and it showed a few human scientists in the same lab that they were in but it looked brand new.

"Day One, project commences. Master Shredder believes his enemies have taken refuge underground. Our Foot Soldiers have been unable to locate them so the genetic division has been directed to mutate human subjects so that they can explore deeper into the earth." The video showed many Foot Scientists surround a human male strapped to a table. An armband was attacked to his arm and a green goo went inside of him.

"No, please!"

"The subject appears to be in some discomfort but this is a minor annoyance." They watched in horror as the human was mutated into a monster.

"That poor guy," Leo commented.

"This is starting to get really weird," Mikey told them.

"Starting?" Raph asked him.

"Day 345. The experiment appears to be a success. Though, the subjects are exhibiting reduced intelligence." They appeared to the same creatures from earlier inside tubes. The video fritz then returned to the same human scientist with sweat on his face and fear in his eyes. "Day 575. The creatures are showing signs of instability." The creatures in the tube were roaring as if they were in pain or anger. "Becoming angry and vicious." As they watched the video, Donna joined her brothers and Leo crossed his arms. "Certain aspects of the experiment have gone horribly wrong. Have we attempted too much in developing this unnatural life-form? Perhaps there are some things..."

"Man was never meant to tamper with..." Mikey said finished the man's sentence. "That's the one line in a monster movie you don't want to hear."

The video returned to normal and the man's voice seemed calmer. Acid burned down a solid ground wall as a tall blue creature and the same rock monster from earlier appeared in the video. "Through the generous use of shock restraints, the creatures have been trained to retrieve evidence from their explorations." A red monster also appeared to leave from the acid-burned hole. Along with the other monsters left the hole. The video transition to another day. "Day 699. The project is a success. Our creatures have found evidence of habitation underground which has been turned over to Master Shredder." The Foot Scientists were celebrating with each other. "I've been told he is quite pleased." The video transitioned again. The scientist looked exhausted. "Day 733. The settlement we found is not what Master Shredder was searching for." The scientist stood up and walked to a panel. "He has pronounced the project a failure. We have been ordered to shut down the operation and destroy the creatures." The video transition again and they were screaming everywhere. Men were running away in fear and roaring could be heard."The creatures have freed themselves! They are more intelligent than we ever dream!" The ceiling was falling down and fire was everywhere. Men were on fire and they were fine but knew they had to get out of there. There was static then the man appeared again and he was dripping with sweat and his glasses were gone revealing his cyan eyes. "They.. They have been manipulating us all along, waiting for their moment to escape." The man ran away and you can hear the creatures roaring in anger" Keep away!" The video shut down after hearing the man scream in fear.

The turtles grimaced at the sight. What happened in the lab was not pretty. Behind them, they turned around after hearing the creatures behind them. Mikey clung to Leo in fear. "So... there's always one guy in a monster movie who freaks out cause he can't take the pressure and I'm gonna do an impression of him right now and it goes something like this. Get me out of here!" Mikey ran off in fear leaving his brothers and sister behind.

"Not that I'd never agree with him but he's got a point," Raph told Donna and Leo.

"Agreed. Fun's over, let's go," Leo told them. Donna grabbed the crystals from her bag and lead the way back home. However after they left the lab and turned the corner, they saw the wall being melted away right in front of them. From the hole, a tall blue creature a large red creature and the same rock creature from earlier appeared. The blue creature could crawl in the wall like a spider and it landed in front of them right by the other two creatures.

The turtles grabbed their weapons and were prepared to fight the creatures in front of them. "Guys... this isn't the end of the movie. Is it?" Mikey asked them as the creatures started to walked closer to them then they ran at them ready to attack.
