Chapter two- five years after hatching

Sunny is constantly worrying. She worries about her family. She worries about the war. She worries about what would happen to them if they were found. Even with Moonlight and her ability to read minds and Tompa's ability to see multiple futures at will, she was still nervous. Especially about giving away her secret ability, being able to turn anything into gold by just touching it. She can also use her fire, which is how she's kept her ability secret for so long. Forest and Sunshine have already shown theirs, and so has Tompa and Wind Wisher. They were working on gaining more control and getting stronger, better things to happen. It was still unknown what Wish, Grayling, and Moonlight could do, if they could do anything at all.

Sunny was just about to grab one of her scrolls when Duncan called for her. "Yes Duncan?" Sunny answered. "It's time for a bit of practice. Please come here." Duncan said. Sunny turned and went, not very enthusiastically, into the room next to hers. She hated this part of practice. She was always told to do something magical, but without her fire. And every time, she almost gives herself away. Her mother and the other guardians always growl, scold, or shove her for not being special like the others. They did the same to Moonlight, Wish, and Grayling. "I want you to touch this." She said, holding up a stone. Sunny went up and touched it. She sighed in relief when it didn't turn to gold.
Duncan sighed deeply and put the stone down. "Okay, time for your battle training with Tyro." Duncan growled. Sunny went to the training clearing. It was the same clearing she'd hatched in, only without the makeshift nest now. Tyro was having a, supposedly gentle brawl, with Wind Wisher. He was using his super speed to dodge attacks and get better hits on Tyro. Wind Wisher ran around three feet away, then ran behind and clawed Tyro's leg. "Ouch! No claws! Battle over!" Tyro hissed at him. "Sorry!" Wind Wisher paused and looked down.

Sunny knew he was secretly smiling. He was the rebel of their group. He's disobeyed many of the rules and doesn't listen to the guardians when he doesn't want to do something. "Tompa!" Tyro called, and she appeared from behind a tree on the other side of the clearing. "Yes?" She answered. "Could you maybe, um, grow a healing flower? Please?" Tyro limped over to a spot in the sun. Tompa nodded and dug her claws into the ground. A bright pink and white flower grew from the ground. She plucked the flower and handed it to Tyro, who took a petal off and ate it. His claw wound instantly turned into a scar.

Tyro took the flower and stored it in the spot full of other healing herbs and flowers Tompa has created. Her power, in short, was the ability to grow and merge flowers. She can reach a multitude of different flowers, herbs, and other plants to merge them into one flower that does what she wants it to. It's pretty amazing, if you asked Sunny. But she can only do it so often. The more flowers and herbs she has to merge, the more energy it takes to merge healing flower is one of the hardest ones, since it takes over ten healing herbs and an edible flower to create it. She could also make one that gives the dragon that eats it hallucinations and another that makes a dragon fall asleep for a given amount of time. The hardest and, by far, the most dangerous, is a flower that allows whoever eats the root to control the dragons who ate a petal.

"Ah, Sunny, you ready for battle training today?" Tyro said, stretching his back leg then standing back up. Sunny nodded nervously. They both went to the center, then ten steps away. Tyro ran towards Sunny, and instinctively she moved to the side and dodged his claws. She made a move towards him when she heard a roar split the air above them. "What was that?" Sunny asked, pausing mid step.

"I, think it was another dragon, but I don't think it was one of us." Tyro said. Suddenly, Sunny heard wingbeats, then saw shades of black and yellow. Two dragons, a SunWing and a MoonWing, landed in the clearing. "Sunny, run!" Tyro told her. "But, but I can help! Please let me help!" Sunny pleaded, but Wind Wisher grabbed her and dragged her out of the clearing. Tompa dug her claws in the dirt, then suddenly a vine grew out of the ground and wrapped around the SunWing's tail. "Huh?" He said, turning to see the vine. Wind Wisher used his super speed to dash in, slash the MoonWing's snout, then dash back out.

"I can help!"Sunny called. She found a few leaves, crumpled them up, then turned them into gold, which she threw at the MoonWing about to breathe fire at Tyro. The MoonWing looked in Sunny's general direction and focused. "There's another dragon here. I can hear their thoughts." Sunny held her breath. The SunWing breathed fire at Tyro, but Wind Wisher ran and pushed him out of the way. He just barely missed the main blast, and instead only got hit on the shoulder. "OW!" He cried, clutching his shoulder, which now had a small black burn on it. Tompa and the rest of the guardians came running into the clearing.

"Hah, you shouldn't've come out, at first we just thought it was a few loners," The SunWing smirked, then continued with, "but now we know it's the chosen dragonets." He flicked his tail in a sort of summoning motion, and more dragons appeared from the sky, surrounding the clearing. One also landed on top of Tompa and another on Wind Wisher. "Now tell me, where are the other six? I know you have them here somewhere." Said the MoonWing, puffing out a little blue smoke. Duncan instantly went and gathered them. When they got back, Tyro gave her a I-could've-taken-them look. "Perfect, Solar and Luna, chain them up to take to the queens." Two young dragons, SunWing and a MoonWing, came forward and snapped chains on the dragonets and guardians. The SunWing flashed something to the MoonWing, and they both nodded and took off, so did the rest of the dragons, dragging the dragonets and the guardians behind them.

What am I going to do? I'm useless, again. I can't even use my power, or I might turn my friends into gold and not just the chains. Sunny thought to herself. Moonlight looked at her, then she remembered she could read minds. Moonlight looked away, and Sunny knew that she had read her mind when she was thinking of her power, but Moonlight was good at keeping secrets. She knew her secret was safe with Moonlight. Suddenly, they all took a sharp left, and Sunny saw a giant castle in the distance. As they flew closer, she realized part of it was yellow and white, and the other was black, purple, and blue. From the looks of it, two queens lived here. The queen of the MoonWings, and the queen of the SunWIngs.

They landed in a central courtyard and came to an entrance that was part yellow and part black. A MoonWing and a SunWing. Wait, what were their names? Oh right, Luna and Solar, Sunny remembered. They led them to a large throne room, where two thrones, one made of gold and amber, the other out of obsidian, amethyst, and sapphire, were located in. On the obsidian one sat an elegant looking MoonWing with amethyst embedded in her scales along her wings and above her eyes, and wore a silver crown with sapphire on her head. The gold one had a bright yellow-gold SunWing with rubies embedded on her wings and above her eyes, and a golden crown with amber.

"Queen Void, Queen Sunspot, we found the dragonets, what shall we do with them?" Solar asked. The MoonWing, which Sunny assumed was Queen Void, spoke first. "Solar, thank you for asking. I want you to leave the two MoonWings and the two SunWings, and take the rest to our arena cells." She said, pointing to Sunny's friends. Solar nodded and unchained Moonlight, Night Watcher, Sunshine, and Sunfire. "Luna, I want you to stay. Solar, you and star can escort the rest to the arena." Queen Sunspot said, pointing from solar to an armored MoonWing then to their group.

Sunny and the remainder of them were led through a long purple hallway to a dungeon-looking room. Tyro and Wind Wisher were unchained and thrown into a cell, then Tompa and Snow, and Forest with Willow. Storm was with Grayling and Wave with Wish. Duncan, however, was not put in with Sunny, and instead was put with a different GoldWing, leaving Sunny alone. She sat in the darkest corner, wondering why she hadn't used her power while she still could. The thing she had always worried would happen, happened, and she didn't do anything.
