Chapter 2

Poor little guy, he's still terrified

Max heard a different 'voice' in his head this time. Opening his eyes, he saw a blue and black face, with red eyes and black floppy ears. "You're awake" the Riolu said excitedly, making Max flinch at the sudden noise. "oops, sorry" said the Riolu. "I'm Leo by the way" he added, looking at Max enquiringly

"I'm Max" replied Max

"Pleasure to meet you Max" said Leo. "So I guess my dad found you, he said you were terrified when he found you, and covered in scratches and dirt. What happened"

Upon hearing this, Max started to cry again.

"sorry, I didn't mean" Lio said, starting to panic, before Max cut him off.

"It's OK" Max responded. "it was a group of wild Arbok. They attacked my clan in their den. I managed to escape but my family didn't" he managed to get out, before breaking down into tears again.

Leo decided not to comment, instead wrapping his arms around Max and hugging him. Max found this strangely comforting, considering he'd only just met Leo. But he soon found himself feeling calm again, and slipping back into an exhausted sleep.
