Maya then quickly puts on a swimsuit and grabs a towel. Before going, however, she remembered that beaches tend to be rather busy places, so she grabs the bottle of stroopwafel moonshine in the fridge, drinks a random amount, applies mouthwash, and then finally gets out. Her family was waiting outside.
"Well, now that everyone's ready, let's go to the beach!", Mrs. Schoppenboer happily said.
They all then began walking to the beach. It was just across the street from their hotel, so not much walking had to be done. However, the moonshine that Maya drank began kicking in just as she was crossing the road, and she began feeling the summer heat even more. By the time they all got to the beach itself, Maya was already sweating a lot, and began feeling shortness of breath.
Maya's dad then rented a chair for each and an umbrella, and they found a spot to place everything. Maya, of course, put her chair under the umbrella and began resting there.
"Hey, everyone!", Mrs. Schoppenboer said. "Don't forget to put on sunscreen!"
Then everyone in the family began putting it on, which was already a huge relief for Maya, as the sunscreen was very refreshing in comparison to the unbearable heat that she was feeling. Still, Maya felt very dehydrated and still had shortness of breath.
After a while, not even the sunscreen was protecting Maya from the heat, so she got up and said:
"Hey, everyone, I'm gonna go take a swim!"
"Go right ahead, Maya!", Mrs. Schoppenboer replied. "You look like you need some refreshing anyway!"
Maya giggled and ran straight to the sea. The water was quite cold, which was a gigantic relief to Maya. It took some effort to stay afloat and swim due to her drunkenness, but she was still enjoying every second of it. A while later, she remembered her swimming lessons from when she was a kid, and was curious to see if she still remembers what she was taught. So she took a dip and thrusted forward.
"Wow... I still got it!", Maya thought.
She swam like an absolute pro, even with her current state of inebriation. It felt amazing, too, and so did swimming back up to catch some air. Maya kept doing this multiple times for a very long time. It was like she was a child again, enjoying the most simple things in life and having fun.
Soon later, both Coco and Mymy entered the sea as well. Maya approached them.
"Hey, Maya!", Coco said. "We decided to go swimming with you too!"
"Hey, Coco!", Maya said. "You GOTTA see this!"
Maya then dived again, swam underwater for a while, and went back up. She looked back only to see a very impressed Coco.
"Oh, wow, Maya!", Coco said. "You're really good at swimming! Those lessons from years ago really paid off!"
"Yeah!", Maya replied. "I didn't even know I could still swim this well!"
"Bah, that's nothing!", Mymy smugly said. "Watch this!"
Mymy then took a dive, only to almost immediately go back up short of breath. Maya and Coco laughed.
"Hey, that's not funny!", Mymy angrily said before splashing water on the other two sisters, who replied by doing the same exact thing to her, suddenly having it turn into a water splashing fight. They were all laughing along.
Soon, their parents went to the sea too, only to get immediately splashed by the sisters, making them join in on the fun as well. They also started swimming around and showing to each other what they could do. And every single one of them was having a lot of fun.
A while later, the sun began setting, and the family had to go back to the hotel. So they dried themselves up, packed their things up, and went back to their hotel rooms to take a shower. Right after Maya took hers, she poured herself a small drink to calm down her tremors and began reminiscing about her day. Everything from arriving at the city to her time at the beach has been wonderful so far, some of the most wonderful moments of Maya's whole life. She knew for sure that she would cherish those moments for the rest of her life...
"...and it's all because of you!", Maya thought to herself as she looked at her cup and took another sip. "You made me so many friends, and you repaired my relationships with my family, which is exactly what led me here! Cato is such a sucker for thinking that I'm destroying myself with alcohol. She doesn't know me! So what if I have shakes and hallucinate? The cure to those is just another sip of alcohol anyway! It's simple!"
She then finished her cup, washed it, and left it to dry.
"Now, as much as I love being an alcoholic and wish I could drink some more... I need to stop for now.", Maya thought to herself. "I have something else to do, and I can't wait to be able to do it! Also, uh... I could really go for some dinner right now!"
Maya then ordered some food, had a nice little feast, and rested for a bit, laying down on her bed and looking at the ceiling.
"Well, everything is just amazing...", Maya thought as she sighed in pure relaxation. "But it could only get better..."
As night settled in, Maya relaxed herself enough to have a nice nap.
Suddenly, however...
Ding!
It was her phone. She picked it up, only to see a WhatsApp message from Yfke. It said:
"Hey, Maya, are you still up? I'm really feelin' like getting high right now."
"Here it is: the moment I've been waiting for...", Maya thought.
To be continued...
