Chapter Eighty-Nine

While Makoto sat on top of Johanna as ethereal chains floated from it, the rest of the Phantom Thieves watched in awe. "A persona?" Fox questioned, unable to believe his eyes.

"No way. That's a bike," Mage corrected with awe.

"I've never seen anything like this…Not even in the wildest movie," Eleonora whispered with wide eyes.

"So this is what it feels like," Makoto whispered with glowing eyes. "This power. My power…."

"It always has been. All that held you back from wielding it was your lost heart," Johanna told her. "Now, it's time to remind this fool what you can do with it." Celadon light formed around Johanna's handlebars and Makoto's fists. The light exploded, revealing metal spiked knuckles around Makoto's fists.

"I like the sound of that," Makoto replied. "Let's gun it!" Makoto revved Johanna and charged toward Shadow Kaneshiro and his group of shadows.

"What are you fools waiting for?! I'm not paying you to gawk! Stop her!" Shadow Kaneshiro screamed with trembling irises. The guards nodded and with an explosion of inky-black energy, two Hallucinating Captains appeared in their place.

"We won't let you! Magaru!" The Hallucinating Captains exclaimed as their crystalized flapped, causing several cyclones to fly toward Makoto.

"That won't stop me!" Makoto shouted as she expertly weaved away from each cyclone. "Now get out of my way!" With a strong grip on Johanna's handlebars, she swung her feet and planted them on the side of her persona.

With a shout, the skidding Makoto lifted Johanna off the ground and performed a powerful swing, causing the spinning tires of Johanna to slam against both shadows, causing them to explode in defeat.

Due to the momentum of her swing, she began to turn her back to her opponent while seamlessly placing Johanna back on the ground, straddling her, and pulling her revolver from the holster that sprang from Johanna's side.

"Did she just lift a full motorcycle off the ground and use it like a sword?" Panther asked.

"She really did…" Lioness whispered.

"As surprised as we all are, we have a battle to undergo!" Pawn exclaimed as the ground became surrounded by shadows.

"You guys fight on!" Makoto instructed. "I'll take care of Kaneshiro!"

Without hesitation, Makoto fired at Shadow Kaneshiro, who squealed and pulled one of his guards in front of him to soak up the bullets, causing it to explode into inky-black energy. Shadow Kaneshiro looked at his remaining guards and screamed, "Unless you want me to kill you, all of you better earn your fucking keep and kill her!"

The guards nodded, albeit shakily, and charged toward Makoto, who smirked in response. "If this power was always in my heart…I won't lose sight of it. Never again," Makoto swore as she revved Johanna."From now on, I'll go full throttle and never let anyone's words sway me again! Charge, Johanna!"

Makoto drove toward the shadows, which exploded into two Chivalrous Fiends and a single Raging Water Demon. Makoto twisted her bike and lifted the back wheel off of the ground, where it began to spin with celadon energy.

The spinning wheel ground against the chests of all three shadows, leaving glowing tire marks against them, that exploded with pure energy, and while the two Chivalrous Fiends were sent skidding back from the attack, Raging Water Demon was blown off its feet and into the air, where it crashed onto its back.

Makoto spun on the front tire of Johanna before the motorcycle fell to the ground with a spin, where she placed both feet onto the ground and vaulted into the air in the direction of Shadow Kaneshiro.

Makoto landed in front of the fleeing shadow with her back turned to him and immediately twisted her body to kick Shadow Kaneshiro in the stomach, causing him to gasp and hunch forward.

Makoto followed up with an uppercut, sending the shadow into the air where he then slammed into the ground.

Makoto smirked and ran toward the downed Shadow Kaneshiro, only for both Chivalrous Fiends to slide into view. The first fiend swung his weapon at Makoto, who stepped to the left and proceeded to land rapid jabs to the shadow's chest before twisting her body and landing a roundhouse kick to the shadow's jaw, sending it crashing into its compatriot.

"Johanna!" Makoto shouted as an ethereal celadon portal appeared behind her. She back-flipped into the air as a bullet of celadon energy raced out of the portal before it trailed off, revealing Johanna. Makoto landed on Johanna and shouted, "Ram them! Frei!"

Makoto lifted the front wheel of Johanna off the ground as it glowed with rapid celadon energy and drove it into the chest of the front Chivalrous Fiend, causing the glowing tire to grind itself against the shadow's chest before it exploded through the first fiend and slammed into the chest of the second.

With a shout of, "Break Though, Johanna! Hell Thrust!" from Makoto, Johanna's front tire brightened, causing another tire mark to appear on the second fiend, causing it to explode and allowing for Johanna and Makoto to pass through the second fiend.

Makoto landed Johanna's front wheel back on the ground as it raced toward the now-rising Shadow Kaneshiro, only for Raging Water Demon to shout, "Get outta here, Boss! Aques!"

Makoto looked to her left to see a medium-sized bullet made of water coming her way before she looked ahead to see the smirking Shadow Kaneshiro transporting away. "Damn it," Makoto swore as she slammed her right foot against the floor to skid Johanna to the right and then charge forward. "It's time to finish this!" Makoto exclaimed. "Are you ready, Johanna?!"

"Born ready," Johanna confirmed.

"Then let's go!" Makoto exclaimed as she hopped up to Johanna's seat and then vaulted into the air. Johanna revved up and rammed through the water bullet before the windshield, with Johanna's serene face, popped into the air in front of Makoto.

Makoto screamed as nuclear energy flowed around her and the windshield, her scarf shining with energy. "Phantom Shot!" Makoto shouted as slammed her right fist against the windshield, causing Johanna's eyes to open behind the windshield as it became a projectile glowing with energy.

The shadow spun its weapon and swung against the glowing windshield but to its horror, its weapon shattered and the windshield slammed into its chest.

Makoto landed on the ground in a crouch and slowly, she stood upright, her scarf flowed with the fierce wind as a pillar of celadon energy appeared shooting through the ceiling.

"As long as I ride astride Johanna…" Makoto whispered before she sharply turned around with a determined gleam in her eyes. "Justice will prevail!" Behind her, the pillar exploded into an orb of energy, vaporizing the screaming shadow within the pillar in a flash of light.

"Wahoo! That was intense!" Eleanora cheered.

Makoto blinked and turned around to see Eleanora and the Phantom Thieves behind her, their opponents dispatched. Makoto flushed as rubbed the back of her neck with her left eye closed and a grin on her face as the group ran up to her.

Immediately, Eleonora jumped into her arms while everyone cheered. "Damn, you were amazing," Eleonora praised. "I bet Ryuji, Eiko, and Tsubasa will be proud."

"I hope so," Makoto said with a soft smile.

"I agree, you were great out there, Makoto," Joker agreed as he placed a hand on her shoulder. "I knew you'd be."

"You knew this would happen?" Makoto asked.

"I had a gut feeling," Joker replied.

"And when Joker has a gut feeling…" Panther started as she slung an arm around Joker's shoulders. "It's never wrong."

"Seriously, you were awesome! The way you lifted that motorcycle and swung it like a bat. Even I am not that strong," Noir smiled.

"How strong are you?" Mage asked with a tilt of his head.

"Hm, I haven't tested it in a while but I'm fairly strong," Noir answered.

"Do you think we should be so caviler while in this palace?" Pawn asked.

"Yeah, we're not quite the woods yet," Fox said.

"Their right," Joker agreed. "We have our way in and Shadow Kaneshiro knows his time is limited. For now, let's get while the gettings good."

Theme of Kaneshiro Junya: Dungeon ~ Black Market ~ Megami Ibunroku Persona]

Shadow Kaneshiro watched as the group escaped from his bank and sneered with anger, sweat pouring down his face.

That had been far too close for comfort.

"That damn whore will pay for striking me…" Shadow Kaneshiro growled.

"Having trouble, Bael?" A voice asked.

Shadow Kaneshiro turned around to see a young man with short red hair styled with curtain bangs and matching red eyes. The mysterious youth wore a steel gray and high-collared tailcoat atop a navy bodysuit, black arm gloves with red fingers, thigh-high boots, and a slightly opaque red mask.

In addition, he has two cutouts on his sides, a brown buckled belt, and two brown straps on his hips and below his arms.

And in his left hand was a suitcase.

Shadow Kaneshiro turned around and shivered in terror. "How did you get in here? W-Where is Black Mask?" the shadow fearfully asked.

"The boss couldn't make it, so I'm here to ensure things go according to plan," the mysterious teen explained. The teen walked over to the shadow's security screens and watched the group of teens running away.

"We've already had three failures, Bael," the teen commented. "Each one marked for death in return. Don't make our boss put you on that list as well."

"I-I won't, I swear it," Shadow Kaneshiro stammered.

The teen smiled and placed a suitcase down on the ground at Shadow Kaneshiro's feet. "This should help you with your infestation. Good luck, Bael. The boss is busy. Don't make him have to visit, alright?"

With those parting words, the teen turned away and walked up to a strange creature.

The creature was an anthropomorphic and bipedal owl-like creature. He has bright blue eyes and yellow sclera, a white mask almost shaped like a barn owl's head, a yellow beak, and blue-tipped feathers on the top of his head. He wears a black zip-up hoodie with white and red trim, gold buttons on the hem, and sleeves ending in quilted mittens.

"Ready to go, Wonder?" the creature asked.

The teen, Wonder, nodded with a grin. "Let's go, Ruferu. We're done here."

Ruferu nodded and with a flash of light, both were gone, leaving Shadow Kaneshiro shivering in place.

Captain Blues: And just like that, things have changed...
