The wind through her wings makes her skin tingle in pure delight as Cattaleya soars over the buildings of Hell. Not using her full set of wings as she has had not trained them enough yet but instead sticking to the wings and way of flying she knows as she patrols the city. Making rounds. Some sinners on the ground actually wave at her which she returns, albeit a bit shyly before she shoots out of view. It has been a month since returning to Hell. She had hoped for a quiet way to do so but when she came back to Hell she had found out Vox had broadcasted her deeds on live television and now she is sort of a heroine figure of the lower class sinners.
A Hero. An icon. Someone people look up to and are grateful for as she had saved their existence and given them a more peaceful afterlife.
As peaceful as Hell can be certainly. It still feels strange to be praised for such gruesome actions, having killed the first man Adam by decapitation. It is not like she had done it to be praised either. She had done it because it was right. Done it for justice. For the one she loves. Not once had she thought about all the other sinners in that fleeting moment. In making that decision to indeed, kill him.
But here she is. A full fledged angel returned to Hell with people… Waving at her. They probably wouldn't be so wavy if they knew she actually had been granted the right to murder them too if they turn their sharps to the Heavens. Not that she is actually expecting such a revolution. Not in the coming decades at least. By Charlie's intel, Hell had never retaliated against Heaven nor the Extermination. Sinners have no way to actually even go to Heaven so it might all be a moot point. Sinners have no interest in overthrowing Heaven. They want to drink, fight and fuck. And even the more power hungry ones, the overlords, keep their boundaries to the barriers of Hell as far as Alastor has told her. Yet, it is still a good thing that she is there to now serve as a warning. Try attack Heaven and feel the consequences. If she can reign them back with just her presence, she can go and enjoy her happy afterlife in peace. Besides the fact that she is going to mingle again with Heaven politics. Yeah, not looking forward to that.
She never thought she would become an ambassador for redemption but it was one of the terms she had agreed on: Work with Charlie and Emily to present plans about redemption. It is a cause she will gladly put her heart into but she is not looking forward to long days in court and having to defend themselves and their plans. She wonders if the trouble will be worth it in the end or if they can actually come up with plans they all can stand behind. Though if Emily's and Charlie's enthusiasm are the indication for success, they will surely succeed one day.
With grace, she lands in the yard of the Hotel, stretching her limbs to release some tension. Happy as always after a good flight. She passes her own gravestone and she pats it, which has become a weird sort of habit when you think about her previous body actually rotting in the ground. Alastor had asked her a week ago if he should remove it, if she was uncomfortable looking at it, but she wasn't. In a way, it has become a symbol of their journey. What they have fought for. So no, she actually likes looking at it. Especially when thinking about earth and that body of hers probably rotting in a river somewhere.
When she enters the Hotel, Husker is the first to greet her. "Beat up any gangs for fun?" He slides a bottle of water over the bar to her, which she catches and opens it.
"How many times do I have to say no and tell you I am not allowed to randomly beat souls for the joy of it? I would be working all day if those were my guidelines." Gratefully she drinks the water before taking a seat.
"So circling around again?"
"It is a good thing I like flying." She says as she sticks out her tongue which has Husker grin in amusement.
"Go stick that somewhere else."
"He is not here."
"Ugh, don't plant those images in my mind. I see you face sucking him enough."
"You are happy that I am happy and you just don't want to admit it."
"I'll admit to that. But seeing creepy grin face all sucky still gives me goosebumps."
Again, she sticks out her tongue at their bantering. Angeldust walks into the room, stretching his limbs above his head as he had just woken up from a well deserved nap. "Morning Feathers."
"It's afternoon, Angel."
"Details." He takes a seat as well. "Do you know how much my Sinstagram is filled with random videos of you flying around? It's like a fucking Find Waldo version but then with you staring it."
Cattaleya, having no clue what Find Waldo actually means, simply shrugs her shoulders. "I can't really prevent people from taking videos of me. I would have preferred not to be this in the picture either."
It is true, news reporters and multiple hardcore fans visit the Hotel regularly. Her appearance and bitch ass violent broadcasted attacks have attracted… Some daring lusty sinners as well. Much to Alastor's credit, he only ate two of them before just kicking them away from the curb after her forbidding him to eat souls. I mean, she gets why he did it. They had been very forthcoming with their desires. And it is not like she likes the attention she gets. It is just that the thought of him eating a full body gives her some creeps.
It did do something good she thinks as she looks around the lobby. More sinners have checked in. Actual sinners who want to redeem themselves. Charlie is over the moon and even more fired up than before. The place is not flooded yet with souls but baby steps. Once they have more of a plan to present and not just the hope of 'might be able to achieve redemption' one day souls might be more inclined to check in.
"So when will I be granted to take this newest hottest rising celebrity out on a day of shopping and pampering? It has been long ago since we last did that and strawberry pimp has been hogging you."
Cattaleya chuckles at Angel's pouty complaints. He is not wrong though, Alastor has been hogging her. Mostly to get out of his own trauma of her death… Sadly, it affects him more than he would loudly admit. He wakes up at night, his body shaking and sweaty as he clings to her. She always manages to calm him down but it pains her to see him like that. It is getting better though. In time it will hopefully be gone. "I would like that. I do hope we will be able to go through the streets normally…" If people would not swarm her, they would be swarming Angel instead. It's like walking around with honey on their bodies and then running from the bees.
"Don't worry about that. I'll get us a good limo. Or you can get us a good limo. Valentino still is scared shitless of you. Even more now!" Angel laughs out in pure delight. True, Angel's work days have become lighter after she had… Kindly requested Val to look into his work schedule. She was glad she could help in that regard. "So, any news from the higher ups yet?"
Cattaleya shakes her head. "No. But we will be meeting with Emliy soon to make a start. The sweet thing wanted to give us time to settle back into normal routines before the real work starts."
"Angels do what angels do."
That is when Alastor walks down the stairs as he had expected her return indeed around that time. Yes, they have talked about the time she is allowed to be flying so he would not freak out. An easy agreement to calm his nerves. "Darling! Glad to see you returned to me safe and unharmed." He kisses her cheek. "Is there something I can provide you with? Are you hungry?"
She shakes her head and wiggles her bottle. "I am good."
"Splendid. Are you ready to go or do you want to change into an other set of clothes? Freshen up first?" He asks as he looks at his pocket watch. "We might be early but I haven't really arranged the meeting on a certain time."
"Ugh, where are you off to claiming her now? Can we have her for a few minutes as well?"
Alastor's grin widens more as he taps his cane against Angel's head, which earns him a delightful grumpy sound from the arachnid. "No. And you should spare yourself the false hope of getting them! Last time I checked she committed herself to me and not you so you can wait patiently for eternity."
Cattaleya chuckles and shakes her head. This man. He is a delight but a handful. Trying to act all tough and mighty and dominant while in truth, he would be just very sad if she leaves him alone. It is sweet to her because she knows it is just prideful talk and the wish to be near her. He would let her do whatever she wants if she asked. "Alastor." The simple call of his name in that tone has his grin melt to a tender smile as he shrugs.
"Alright then, fine!" Angel suddenly grins though, up to no good. "If I can't have her in private, then you can just be there when I try to pry away some dirty details of your sex life. I have been dying to know how you both roughen eachother up between the sheets. Acting all sweet and tender in view but I am certain you both are wickedly lustfully-"
"O-KAY, no riling up the demon who will literally eat you for such talk." Cattaleya stops as she sees the heat in Alastor's face rise to boiling and the look behind his eyes a dangerous mix of panic and manic. She stands and pushes him towards the door with her hands on his back. "We'll be home before dinner!" She calls out as they exit the Hotel. She stops pushing him and sighs in crisis averted.
"Darling, h-have you been-"
"No. Definitely not. That stuff is private." She sees a flood of relief on his face, wanting those parts of their relationship to be extremely private and confined to their bedroom. "Though, I must admit it would be a topic to proudly brag about."
She giggles as she sees him blink before grinning smugly. "I'd rather have you not doing that but-" He pulls her flush against him. "- it does me very good to hear you so thoroughly enjoy our bedroom antics."
She chuckles and gives him a soft kiss, not allowing it to become any more than that as they do have somewhere they need to be. "I do. Though…." She pouts in a playful way, not going to pass the opportunity to tease him slightly herself.
"Though?"
She steps out of his arms and turns her back. "Oh I don't know. I have seen some rather interesting and uncommon things in Angel's movies I would love to try." She sings out in complete bluff and skips away.
She can almost hear him crash for multiple reasons. "D-Darling, what things? What movies have you seen?... Dove!" She laughs as he skitters after her.
They stand together in the elevator up towards the upper level of the Carmine building, having requested a meeting with the Overlord herself. Alastor had not deeply questioned her intentions when Cattaleya had asked him to arrange it, instead trusting her and doing what had been asked. That was progress for the both of them.
When they come face to face with Carmilla, her face is set in steel. Showing nothing of what she feels except for the suspicions that glows behind her eyes. Alastor merely grins as Cattaleya smiles in a polite reserved kind of way. "Carmilla Carmine." Cattaleya starts as she walks forward and does a bow out of respect. "I thank you for granting us this meeting. I am certain you are quite a busy woman and we will not take much of your time."
"We finally meet. The last time I wanted to meet I was granted nothing but the air of your disappearance." She narrows her eyes at Alastor.
"Oh the details of events past." Alastor says as he swings his cane and holds it behind his back with his arms folded.
"I had not been informed of your wishes. If I had been, it might have gone differently." Alastor's smile twitches only slightly, the jab is the truth and said without malice but still a guilty pang in his chest. "But I am here now to correct that mistake. If you are willing to listen to what I have to tell. And I will of course answer some of your questions as well."
Carmilla scrutinizes her for a split second before motioning to the chairs, allowing them to sit as she does so herself behind her desk. "You are here in full angelic form."
"I am afraid so."
"Prove it. Show me you are an Angel as your-" She hesitates for a moment what to call Alastor. "- companion told me you formally bleed red." She has seen the footage of the battle. Seen her blood red indeed.
"Alright." She takes her sharp nail and runs it over her palm. Gold liquid drops out. "After death in my previous form I woke up in Heaven as a full blooded angel for reasons to me unknown."
"How come you were a demon, yet, your wings were coated in angelic steel." Carmilla has no trouble to ask the straight forward questions. Wanting to see her falter. See her lie.
But Cattaleya answers in honesty. "I truly have no clue. I have wondered about it often as well. Now knowing it had been angelic steel and not just normal steel. Of course I have wondered many times why I had fallen to Hell in a form like this. But I never got the answers. Heaven didn't give me answers either. So even if they know, they won't tell me. That is all in the past though as figuring that part of my descent out will give me only information I can't do a thing with anymore."
"But you do still have them."
"Six. I hid four as they literally kill my back. I do need to train walking with them a bit more." She says with a smile.
"And Heaven just let you come back? An angel to live in Hell?" Carmilla asks, not believing that to be plausible.
"No. They did not let me go without purpose." Cattaleya says as she leans forward, her elbows on the table and her chin resting on her intertwined hands. "You see, I killed their first man. And they did not take that lightly. I started an uprising with a part of their court appalled by my actions and a part of the court seeing it as justified by my story. The extermination a topic of discussion as well as it had come into existence because of the fear of Hell's residents uprising, as you know. But as you also know, Hell has never done that before. They fight and scream and murder but all to each other. But, Heaven is not that well faithed when it comes to trusting Hell. So I was sent back as a servant to prevent an uprising from happening. If I can do so, the extermination will be canceled forever. If I can't, they will not hesitate to come down and kill once more. If I endanger Heaven myself then they will claim my soul back and do whatever they see fit but giving me the benefit of the doubt at the moment. And that is why I came to talk to you."
Carmilla snarls a bit, a temper rising as Cattaleya sees the woman tensing up her muscles. Ah. Trained. A warrior herself. "Are you saying you are here because you see me as a threat?"
"I am here because I see you as a possible ally." This visibly takes Carmilla by surprise. "If you had wanted to attack you would have armed Hell already and retaliated long before my appearance in Hell. But you only decided you wanted to fight after learning of my abilities, my angelic steel, and after the first ever found dead angel. You are no fool, and you are apparently not one to get into offense either. When I asked Alastor how the conversation between the two of you had gone, a few words stuck out. Words you said."
"And those were?"
"We might have a protecting chance. You don't fight to fight, Carmilla. You fight to protect. That means you have something to protect and that you would never foolishly rally an army for a power grab. Am I correct?"
For the first time, since the start of the conversation, the look in Carmilla's eyes shifts. She closes her eyes for a brief moment and when they open, she is grinning. "I had not realized you were this cunning."
"That is my lady!" Alastor chimes in filled with pride as he watched the scene play out while holding his tongue. Which is pretty impressive for him he must admit.
Cattaleya gives him a fond smile before looking back at Carmilla. "Like I said, I want you as an ally. My goal is to prevent Hell from doing anything stupid that might earn Heaven's torment. Your goal is protecting what you have. As the main arms dealer of these lands you know everyone that buys, sells and stores weapons. Your influence and power stretches wide. Just as your eyes and ears. You would be the first to know if… Interesting transitions, encounters and deals take place. I want you to keep an eye out and report to me if necessary. If you do so, I can investigate, cut the head of the snake, and Hell can stay a completely chaotic shithole but without the extermination. Does that sound like something you can agree on?"
And that is how she got the one and only Carmilla Carmine as her first ally.
Alastor is in a splendid pride filled happy mood as he walks the streets with his dove at his arm. Not being bothered by fan sinners as Cattaleya has hid her wings and wears a hoodie to hide her face. "Truly darling, if you ever decide to start making deals and build up power as an overlord you might even outrank me!"
"Hmm, don't you think I already do in some way?"
"Ha, hilarious." His cane makes audience laughter sounds.
"I mean, if you truly think about it, I have complete utter control over your soul without having to make a deal. I have made an agreement with Carmilla Carmine herself. I mean, not to brag, but that is quite impressive and unheard off, don't you think?"
"Hmmm, I don't think I like you starting to use my way with words."
"What's yours?" They share a grin before he gives her hand a quick kiss as they enter Cannibal Town, the next stop on her list. Rosie.
When they enter her shop and she sees them, her smile actually turns a bit worried. Quickly she makes her way over to them. "Lovely seeing you both, what can I help you with?" She smiles politely but she is not as warm and welcoming as the last time they had met.
"Sorry for coming unannounced but I wish to speak to you."
"Sure sure! I will always make time for you both" She says with a wave of her hand as she leads them to her private room.
Cattaleya takes off her hoodie and takes a seat.
"What can I help you with?"
"I want to talk about the advice you had given Alastor before certain events." Rosie's smile dwindles into nerves, having expected it but not liking it at all. She even looks at Alastor for any indication how angry Cattaleya is but Alastor's smile shows nothing but calmth. "From what I understand, when Alastor had had his talk with Carmine he had come to you afterwards for advice in a frantic state, asking you how he should handle the situation. How to keep me safe. I know how Alastor can be when he gets… scared."
"Terrified." Alastor actually mutters, not above admitting how bad it had been when it is with Rosie.
"But then, for some reason, you told him to break my heart so badly that I would run to Heaven."
"I-"
Cattaleya holds up her hand to stop Rosie in starting her defense. "I wish to finish speaking first." Rosie swallows. "You understood very well that I certainly would never leave someone I love behind. Not ever. Especially not when dangers were coming to our doorsteps. You and Alastor both knew I would need a reason to leave that would outdo the reason to stay. Because of your advice, he had broken me mentally, psychically, pushed me to side with Heaven and just by sheer luck, I figured things out and sided with Hell before I actually died in battle, which was what all this torment was for. Preventing my death. Instead, your advice put us on a road of heartbreak and anguish as all that we had was put on the line. I know that I am lucky to be here, now that I have been granted the chance, I have come here to say-" Rosie actually clenches her eyes shut. "- I get it." Her eyes shoot back open as they widen, Cattaleya gives her a soft reassuring smile. "I can't say it had been the wisest advice and it could have been handled way differently if Alastor had just talked to me. But you felt like drastic measurements were needed. And so did Alastor. You gave that drastic advice with my safety in mind. It was Alastor's responsibility to listen or not to that advice. So I just want you to know, even if it was horrible advice to give to him in that state, I get your reasoning and I feel no malice towards you."
Rosie blinks twice, actually checking in with Alastor to see if it was true, when he nods, she sniffs. Sniffs again. And bursts out crying. Cattaleya is completely taken back by the loud heavy response but Alastor had already predicted it. He takes out a handkerchief and hands it to the sobbing overlord. "Oh look what you made Rosie do. Your way of wording it out really had her stressed and anxious to such a degree she bursts out in tears of relief! That is quite mean of you, my dear. Couldn't have started with words of forgiveness first?" He pokes as Cattaleya looks like a deer caught in headlights, not knowing how to handle the situation. Taking small delight in her normally so composed but now stressed demeanor.
"I-I didn't mean to! I mean, what I said was true but-"
"Oh it is fine! Alastor should just hold his tongue for a moment." Rosie says as she calms down slowly and blows her nose, unladylike for her doing, in the cloth. "Thank you, sweety. I would have understood though if you had come here with a different message. I mean, I did-"
"Water under the bridge. We are here. We are alive. And we are together. There is no reason to mull it over."
Rosie gives another grateful smile before she claps her hands together. "Who wants some tea and sweets!" Cattaleya gladly accepts while Alastor scrunches up his nose.
The end of the meeting with this overlord a happy chatty one as they catch up on time passed.
