It's over. It was finally over. The destruction was enormous, but she had finally made it. Homura lay on the ground, surrounded by rubble and very injured. Unable to move due to the instability of her soul gem.
"Wait a minute," Homura thought. "This scenario… that nightmare…" Aware of what was happening, Homura got up as best she could. She looked around her at the ruins of the city. She looked at her arm full of blood.
"Oh no… No no no."
She quickly turned her head away. Hitori lay on the ground, dying and very injured. Homura felt her heart break.
- Hitori!
Hitori remained on the ground.
- Homura…
She could barely speak.
- Hitori, we did it!
- Yes, we did... hooray...
Gathering her strength, Homura lifted Hitori off the ground. That nightmare that terrified her several days ago... was real.
- Hitori, get up. Let me heal your wounds!
- It's useless, Homura...
- No, it's not useless. I won't let you die here.
Homura hoped, with all her heart, that the end of her nightmare would be different now. Losing Hitori broke her inside. As soon as she picked her up, Hitori coughed, blood coming out of her mouth and staining Homura's uniform.
- I don't want to die, Homura... I don't want to die...
Hitori said with tears in her eyes.
- You will not die, Hitori. I won't allow myself to let you die.
Hitori hugged Homura.
- I don't want to go, Homura...
- You're not leaving, Hitori! I will heal your wounds!
Homura noticed that her soul gem had been cleaned by Hitori, however, hers was completely stained.
- Hitori, no... resist... I won't allow you to be a witch.
- I can't... become a witch, Homura.
- What...?
Hitori continued speaking with tears in her eyes.
- I should have told you before... - Another cough. – Homura… it's done… without Mami, without Sayaka or Kyoko… Madoka was saved.
- I know, but I won't let you die!
Hitori grabbed Homura's face and wiped away her tears.
- The karma... of your travels... all that desperation... all this time it was in you, Homura... My existence ends if you fulfill your goal...
- What? Hitori, don't say that. I will save you! I can turn back time and save you!
-After finally managing to save Madoka...?
Homura noticed one of Hitori's hands slowly disappear. On her knees, still hugging her friend, she began to cry desperately.
- Homura… I don't want to leave…
Homura hugged her friend tighter as she cried.
- Please don't go... You became someone important in my life, Hitori... Don't go!
- I'm sorry... - Hitori's body little by little disappeared. - I should have shown you this before...
Hitori used her powers to change her body. Homura froze in place when she saw her. Another homura, identical to her, lay in front of her. All this time, Hitori was Homura herself helping herself.
- Hitori... what are you?
Hitori smiled one last time.
- I'm sorry... promise me that you will take care of Madoka...
Homura let out a piercing scream as Hitori completely faded away, disappearing. In Homura's hands lay the only proof of Hitori's existence: her blue ribbon. Homura fell to the ground, crying. Despite having ensured Madoka's existence, she once again lost everything. That friend who helped her achieve what she tried for so long, that kindness that helped her, no longer existed.
- Hitori… why…?
