A/N This is Linus actually coming to Sodor.

Linus and his crew traveled across the sea to Sodor. He was taken to the Steamworks, checked and modified for work on Sodor.

Thomas, who was the one to take the new arrival there, said, "You've got to be a Really Useful Engine here.", then told Linus what that meant. Linus learned the British terminology his engineer, who was called his driver by the Sodor engines, had told him about.

After that time at the Steamworks, Linus learned the ways of Sodor better. He took on his first job for NWR. He met the other engines shortly before doing that job, but began to cry, breaking down in wailing sobs, his face covered in thick tears because of Henry. The engine's name overwhelmed him with grief. He sniffled, long and loud.

Linus's driver, since he was using Sodor terms, went to comfort his engine. "There, there, Linus," he said, as he climbed onto his buffer beam. "Let it all out. Go ahead and cry into your hanky. I know the name makes you sad and depressed, so let it all out.", as he dried his engine's tears with a cloth. He listened attentively, offering his caring and compassion to Linus.

Linus went on crying and wailing. He sniffled again, hard, coughed as he choked on his sobs and hiccupped. He gasped and gulped, shaking with sobs as he wept non-stop and let his driver comfort him.

Linus's wailing went on endlessly until he had no more tears left to shed. His driver dried his last tears away, wiping his cheeks and eyes until they were dry, then went back to the cab with the sodden cloth. His face was all red and his eyes were flame-red and puffy from the tears he cried. His crew gave him a drink and he then did his first job.

Linus said, "If it wasn't for that engine's name making me sad, I'd like Sodor. It's a safe place for me to work and be Really Useful, as Thomas says and I get all the coal and water I need to do my work.".

Linus went on with his remaining jobs. Then, when it was time to go to sleep in the shed he chose, his driver said, "Sleep well, Linus. You got an early train tomorrow.". Then, he left.
