Can't a Cat read in Peace?!
Another day, another reading session. Blake thought as she sat at a table in Beacon's vast library. The faunus of team RWBY loved to read, especially in peace. She loved books as soon as she was taught how to read. As a child, she grew up in a household that contained a plentiful collection of books. Whether it'd be about non-fiction, history, or even biographies, she loved being lost in books. Though she does favor the fictional stories, mainly to distract herself against Remnant's many problems.
Currently, Blake was reading Ninjas of Love, her favorite book series of all time. Though she'd never, ever admit that to anyone. Absolutely no one must know that she reads… literature that shall never be talked about publicly, it's her guilty pleasure, and one that she is completely fine on not sharing with others.
Something disturbed the faunus in the midst of her reading, an odd second echoed near her. "Hm?" Blake quietly muttered, something was off near her quiet corner of the library. It felt like someone was watching her.
SNOOOOOOOOREEEEEEEEEE
Well. That was something even worse than a person optically canvassing her, some idiot decided to take a nap in the library. It was one of those exchange students from Vacuo, they hid themselves in a nearby table near Blake's with a pile of books. The student also just happened to drool all over the book he fell asleep on. Well at least he'll probably get in trouble for damaging one of the books. Seriously, doesn't he have a dorm room or something to take a nap in?
Blake grunted, she picked up her belongings and decided to move to another corner in the library where hopefully no one else was taking a nap loudly nearby.
The raven haired girl sat down, opened her book and read peacefully. Or so what she hoped, someone was walking towards her out of the corner of her eye. As they were getting closer, the figure was getting louder. Blake was trying to ignore them, she just wants to read in peace where no one would bother her.
"Yo Blake! What's good?" The person said cheerfully. Blake dejectedly looked up from her book. It was a certain blonde faunus, Sun Wukong. She didn't particularly dislike Sun, in fact she liked him as a friend, it's not everyday someone was willing to fight the White Fang. Not to mention she and Sun didn't even know each other for more than a day when he fought with her.
Blake stared up at her fellow faunus, "Hey Sun." The monkey faunus grinned at her, it was his trademark when it comes to just talking to people in general.
"Whatcha doin?" Sun beamed at her, his grin not leaving his face.
"Reading this really good book. In the library, where we read." Blake plainly stated as she returned to read her book, she was just getting to a really good part of her book too.
"Ah got it, got it." Sun replied, his monkey tail was wagging excitedly. He then plopped into a seat, across from Blake at the table, he grabbed a book from a nearby shelf without even acknowledging the cover.
Blake glanced at Sun, she was curious on what his goal was here. If he even retained one.
"Mind if I join you? With this whole reading in the library thing?" Sun said happily, it honestly sounded like he never read in a public library before.
"I don't mind." Blake once again returned to reading her book, she was fine with sitting with Sun. As long as it didn't disturb her and her reading.
A few moments later when the two faunus students were reading quietly in the library, Sun was tapping his foot on the floor. It didn't disturb Blake that much, she read with much louder distractions before.
Sun then started to hum. Then that humming started to turn into whistling, this made Blake shift ever so slightly in annoyance with these unnecessary noises while reading.
Blake then glanced at Sun, raising an eyebrow at him. "Sun, you do know that reading is supposed to be in silence? Especially when being in a library?"
"Ah, my bad! I just uh, got to a boring point in the book I was reading." Sun replied.
Blake then glanced at what the monkey faunus was reading, she eyed the cover.
Reading for Dummies.
Huh, Blake thought. What an… interesting book to say on the matter. Books essentially have no limits on what is written in them, so it didn't surprise Blake for that matter.
"Sun, you know you don't have to force yourself to read you know? It's not for everyone." Blake claimed.
"Puh lease Blake, I love reading! It's just uh, not something I do in my free time y'know?" Sun replied, with a slight smile forming on his face.
"I'm uh, gonna go somewhere. I think Neptune is calling me or whatever. C-Catch ya later Blake!" Sun said as he sloppily placed a book on a nearby shelf. The book didn't belong there.
So much for loving to read Blake thought. As soon as he said his goodbye, he hurried to the exit of the library leaving Blake alone with her book.
Finally some peace and quiet. Blake thought, maybe this time she'll finally get through her book this time around!
"Sup Blakey!" Another familiar voice called out to her. Blake couldn't be anymore wrong when it comes for things finally turning around for her.
"Hi Yang." Blake quickly replied with a hint of annoyance in her voice. Yang is one of her closest friends, but right now she was getting annoyed by how many times she was interrupted during her reading time.
Yang was casting Blake one of her signature smirks before speaking. "I see you're reading! Care to join me and Rubes for Remnant the Game?"
"No thank you, I'm kind of busy with reading here." That was an understatement, she wanted nothing more but to read.
"Fair enough, say, you don't mind if me and Rubes play on this table right?" Yang asked.
"Sure." Blake brushed her off, she got a feeling she would regret this decision.
Yang and Ruby were playing Remnant the Game, it's only been about fifteen minutes since the siblings have started playing their favorite tabletop game.
Without glancing up from her book, it sounded to Blake that Yang was winning. The sisters always teased each other especially when it came to playing against one another in games.
"It was nice knowin' you sis. It all ends here though!" Yang exclaimed, she was showing off the last card about to be played to Ruby, it didn't matter since Yang apparently has a overwhelming victory against her younger sister.
Ruby shifted in her seat nervously, she knew Yang was about to tease her for at least a day. They didn't bet most of the time, but gloating against each other was the silent stake when it comes to playing against each other.
"Don't do it Yang!" Ruby defended, it was pointless.
Yang then placed down the final card, dramatically, then the blonde fist pumped in the air.
"I won this time, Rubes!" Yang celebrated.
Blake twitched in annoyance silently, the siblings were getting a little rowdy. A wise man once said, the library is meant for reading.
Blake lifted her face from her book to say something to the both of them, just as she did though, a card flew directly on her forehead. It didn't hurt due to aura, but it definitely pushed Blake's patience all out the window.
Both Ruby and Yang stared at Blake, both wide eyed. Yang mostly since she was the one who accidentally flew a card directly at her. She felt bad.
"Blakey that was–" Yang was cut off due to how red Blake was, if anything was more red than Ruby's cape, it was Blake.
Blake didn't care who did it. She was furious, she just wanted to read, time and time again she was stopped, even if it was just coincidences for her.
"YANG! RUBY!" Blake practically shouted, she never did shout but this time she was at her wits end. Yang and Ruby were both shaking her heads in fear, Blake didn't know why. It was probably due to her yelling.
Before Blake continued, Professor Goodwitch was already right beside the faunus. Blake didn't even notice the strict professor.
"Ms. Belladonna! In case you haven't known, the library is meant to be quiet. So I suggest you tone it down before I kick you out of the library!" Goodwitch berated, she also whipped her riding crop in the air to make her point. No one noticed, but everyone in the library winced at the sound.
As Goodwitch left, Blake was quiet both Ruby and Yang said their goodbyes and apologies towards her. Blake was still unmoving despite finally having her own peace and quiet.
She slammed her head on to the table. Very hard, the universe seemed like it was against her.
Blake Belladonna decided to not read for a while.
Poor Blake, all she wanted to do was read in peace.
