Hope you enjoy this chapter! I like this one better than the previous but that isn't saying much. Slowly I think I'll get the hang of what I want.

Alright, enjoy!

All things considered I think I got patched up better than expected. Instead of a tree branch or old broom lying around we found an older sniper rifle that no longer works. Usually I wouldn't really care what I have to carry around so long as I'm able to support myself, however this felt…..right? The second I saw it I was reminded of my brother. It's only fitting that his preferred weapon would help carry me forward, North...after what I did I don't deserve to use his actual name. Just like always it feels like he's still looking out for me. That's what big brothers do right?

"You're telling me you killed Church? But he's right the-"

"The Metas a freelancer?!" Speak of the devil. Off on the beach Church could be heard shouting. Now that sounds like something worth my time, more than this conversation.

"Caboose! Get Delta over here!" Wash called out to Caboose pretty urgently. Sounds like someone's got an issue they can't resolve on their own.

"Okay! We'll talk later, Purple lady!" Caboose runs over to the two of them down there. Leaving me alone is better than talking to him, yet it's bad since I'm the only one left not knowing what's happening.

Wash seemed to be talking to Delta about

Signals? Bioscans? I can barely hear what they're talking about. I need to get closer, there's no way of knowing what they're talking about.

Carrying my sniper-crutch I begin walking down to them. Cabooses protests but never tries to actually stop me. Not surprising based on the short time I've been with him. Maybe Wash has some Intel he cou-

BAM

Stopping me in my tracks was Wash firing his pistol at my feet. "That's far enough thanks" This is seriously going to get annoying if he continues like this. "Seriously? A cripple is a threat to you?!" I'd understand if I could walk correctly but I can barely fucking hold this crutch correctly.

"Doesn't take much to stab or shoot someone in the back. A cripple like you could manage that." That stung a little, Wash the little brother of the squad being like this was…. unnatural to me. But I guess I have some part in him becoming like this.

"Alright, I get it. Can you just….please tell me what happened? What'd you guys discuss?"

Wash didn't respond immediately; it was like he was analyzing my words. Maybe he's shocked I'm not being aggressive? Who knows.

Slowly he points the gun away from me and holsters his weapon.

"We know the Metas not at full strength and he's nearby. Bad news is I lost signal from command before I got the exact coordinates."

"Luckily for us. Me and Caboose just so happen to know of a base nearby with lots of power." With that Wash gestures for Church to lead the way.

"We gotta move fast. I don't want wanna botch this again." They all quickly move ahead of me leaving me slightly behind, I can barely move faster than an old lady.

"Caboose, carry her! I can't have her slowing us down!." I holster my crutch and slow down waiting for Caboose to reach me. Which wasn't long as he practically rushed over and carries me piggyback style.

"Okay! Looks like we can continue our talk Purple lady!." This is gonna be hell. I can tell already.

Lucky for me Wash asked Caboose to stop talking so much halfway into our journey. Which was a shame as he was finally talking about something interesting. Wyoming being taking down by some sims was hilarious to hear. I mean we're freelancers how hard can a few sims be?

Finally, we made it to the base Church was talking about. Wasn't too impressive besides the batch of dead blues alongside a four-wheeler. "The Meta must be here there's our quad."

"Seriously Wash? They all look the same that's not much of a clue to go off of." I can't believe this was the man this close to killing me. I guess Epsilon left a mar-

THUD

Fuck that hurt! One second I'm on Caboose's back the next I'm in the sand. Wash had made his way over to me and shoved me off Caboose.

"I didn't ask for your input. But seeing as your feeling good enough to give comments." Wash knelt down to my level getting right up in my face.

"We can finally put you to good use." I can't see his face but I can just feel the hatred in his glare. Makes my skin crawl.

"We're going to go around to try and ambush him. You on the other hand will have the pleasure of distracting him head on." Shit, this is much sooner than anticipated.

"C-come on Wash. You can't be serious, what can I do?!" I doubt he'd give me a weapon and I'm not exactly at full strength to be able to brawl correctly.

"Not my problem, either killing you will allow us to get the drop on him OR you'll figure something out." Wash stands at full height and walks towards Church. Goddamn it, I'm gonna have to think fast.

"Alright calm the fuck down we can't let her just die head on. We gotta give her something." Church again coming in to be the savior. I'll have to return the favor one of these days. I wouldn't be here without him.

"We don't have to do anything. She betrayed me first." Nothing to say there. Just something on a list of things I regret.

"We're wasting time. Church, take Caboose and Delta and head on around the right side. I'll take the left side." Wash doesn't wait for confirmation and makes his way up some stairs on the outskirts wall.

"Goddamn it, better think fast South if you don't wanna be mincemeat." Church makes his way to his designated spot. I can faintly hear him asking Delta questions about Wash.

Looks like he's skeptical about Wash. Standing up with my crutch I make my way through the main gate. Technically I could leave but I wouldn't make it far. Being weakened really makes you realize that being alone only takes you so far.

Passing the gate I immediately notice the dead reds. Looks like he doesn't care who he needs to kill. Walking further along, I see a giant windmill in the middle, possibly the thing that generates power here. I would think it's impressive but it's going very slowly but gets the job done I guess.

What could I do to save myself? I could try hitting it with my crutch but that would probably only annoy him. Talking? No, that won't work he never did have much to say.

Passing the windmill is a more impressive looking compound. This must be it, it has some power warning signs on the outside. He must've come here to charge his suit. Guess I better figure something out fast.

Tightening my grip on my crutch I slowly begin making my way inside.

This is gonna suck.

This is really fun to write. I'm gonna try and upload another chapter by this weekend. I wanna get to a certain scene I've been wanting to write.

I'll probably try and write longer chapters, but I also don't want to needlessly write about a tree for 2 paragraphs. Also should I include other POVs? I was gonna stick with only South's perspective but who knows.

Leave a follow and comment, or don't whatever you want.
