Chapter 5: Police Station:
Mirabel's POV:
"Why didn't you report this to the police," asks Det. Winton.
"She's doing that right now," says Scott.
"She was in no condition to come here last night," says Scott's Mother.
"This is more than just murder," says Det. Winton, "the body of Liselotte Kornheim was stolen last night."
"Why would anyone wanna take Liselotte's body," I asked.
"We're in the dark as much as you are, Miss Solarblind," says Det. Winton, "we had a similar case a few weeks back with her late fiancée."
"I read about that," says Scott.
"Yes, he disappeared, and we found no trace of him," says Det. Winton, "we couldn't lay hands on that man you saw last night. You know, that's the strangest description I have ever heard. No human being can look like that."
"Are you sure you didn't imagine all of it?"
"I did see him," I said, "just as I described him to you! He was incredible, but very real!"
"And he couldn't have been the same man who took Miss Kornheim to dinner last night."
"That's impossible," I said, "she told me that he was very good looking."
"And the Land Lady said it was a man with very gray hair."
"It's no use showing you any suspects," says Det. Winton, "we have no one who fits that description. Don't leave town, Miss Solarblind, we'll find you."
"She's staying with me and my Mother," says Scott.
"Make sure of that, she's our only witness. Thank you."
