As it turns out extremely hard
like frozen concrete hard
he fed him burped him changed him and sang to him but it did nothing
"I have underestimated how much a baby can cry." Lincoln said to himself trying put the crying allister to sleep "please go to sleep."
"Gengar!" A voice said behind him causing Lincoln to jump
"Arceus almighty!" Lincoln said before turning to the ghost type "don't do that i'm holding a baby here."
"Gen!" The gengar said
"I take it you're the gengar who brought him here." Lincoln said
gengar nodded
"you knew his parents?" Lincoln asked
gengar nodded again
"can you help me put him to asleep?" Lincoln said "without hypnosis."
gengar made some funny faces which caused allister to laugh
"well it's something." Lincoln said "does he like ghost types perhaps?"
He sent out runerigus to test his theory
the reaction was immediate allister laughed upon seeing the ghost type
"who knew that the love of ghost types was genetic." Lincoln said "anyway let's get you to bed."
Later
Lincoln finally got allister to bed and when he came back to the living room he found a Pokémon egg on the couch
"REALLY?!? ON MY FUCKING COUCH?!?" Lincoln said to gengar and runerigus who looked away in shame
Lincoln sighed "who's the mom?"
Gengar pointed at runerigus
"you're a girl?" Lincoln asked "how did I not know this?"
Runerigus shrugged
"well then I'm going to bed." Lincoln said as he put the egg in a incubator he used to hatch Pokemon to battle trainers early in their gym run "just don't do it again."
the next day
Lincoln woke up to the sound of his phone ringing
it was vox
"hey vox." Lincoln said before yawning "what's up?"
"well I needed to know if you're wearing that cowboy outfit to the interview because I need some cowboy jokes if so." Vox said
"that interview." Lincoln said before yawning again "it isn't locked in is it?"
"no." vox said "why? you need to reschedule?"
"you could say that." Lincoln said before yawning
"you alright?" Vox asked "because you are yawning a lot."
"it's nothing." Lincoln said before yawning again
"it's something." Vox said
Lincoln went and grabbed allister
"it's nothing." Lincoln said yawning afterward
"that's it I'm coming over." Vox said before turning into electricity and going through the phone
"WAIT WAIT!" Lincoln said before Vox appeared
Vox looked at allister then to Lincoln
"explain." Vox said
"well you see this kid was left at my door step by a gengar in order to prevent a group of people who hunt down ghost type specialists from killing him." Lincoln said
"wow that is crazy." Vox said "did you get anything else because I can spread the word."
"nothing yet." Lincoln said
then the phone began to ring
"hello?" Lincoln said picking up the phone
"Lincoln it's officer Jenny." Officer Jenny said on the other side
"any updates?" Lincoln asked
"yes that orphanage allister was at was actually a front for the group and we finally got a name for them." Officer Jenny said
"what is it?" Lincoln asked
"they're called "the pure" and basically they consider ghost types a sin to nature." Officer Jenny said "and they kill ghost type specialists because of it."
"that's dumb arecus is said to have a plate of every type why target ghost types?" Lincoln asked
"well I actually figured that out based on an blueprint in the orphanage." Officer Jenny said "they are actually trying to rule the world using a hypnotic device but ghost types keep interfering."
"weird why would they do that?" Lincoln asked "I mean i know psychic is weak to ghost but that shouldn't mean anything."
"based on the blueprints the waves they make irritate ghost type pokemon and make them attack the machine." Officer Jenny explained "and they figured the ghost types make their trainers immune to it."
"ok well what can I do?" Lincoln asked
"try and get the word out you're a gym leader you might be able to convince people." Officer Jenny said
"I think I got the just they guy." Lincoln said
a few days later
Lincoln's plan worked to perfection
Vox's announcement actually got more people to be cautious and "the pure" to be more risky causing more arrests
everything was going dandy
until...
Lincoln was sitting on the couch but when he looked down and there was a knife to his throat
"ok rude." Lincoln said
"you just had to interfere." A woman said
"I'll take it you're the one who's the leader of "the pure"" Lincoln said
"correct and this isn't the first time you interfered with us." The woman said
"pretend I'm stupid." Lincoln said
"your father's family hired the pure to steal your father's team." The woman explained "in exchange we would get all of the technology in the vault once it was opened but you ruined that and set back our plan by years and then you do it again."
"well lucky me." Lincoln said
"gengar!" Gengar said before sending the woman flying
"nice save." Lincoln said before grabbing allister from his crib
"you won't leave this place alive!" The woman said
"nah you're not leaving this place unharmed." Lincoln said before shooting her in the leg with a BB gun
"what the?!" The woman said
"you see pokemon battles are fun and all but I don't give them to people who try and murder children." Lincoln said
Lincoln kicked her in the head knocking her out cold
"and that's that." Lincoln said
later
after a little bit the police showed up and took the woman away
with their leader arrested "the pure" was beginning to fall apart
Lincoln decided to adopt allister fully and raise him as his own
Lincoln was relaxing when he got a knock on the door
he got up and answered it
it was lectron
"hey bud how are you- what is that?" Lectron asked upon seeing allister
"my son?" Lincoln said before remembering he never told lectron
lectron fell over and fainted
"well shit." Lincoln said
3 years later
Lincoln took a breath as he and allister walked through the route just outside of stow 'n' side
despite only being 3 allister was very shut in and preferred to not talk he even wore a mask that covered most of his face
but Lincoln still tried to get him out every once in a while
"hey papa." Allister said "look."
allister was pointing to some human foot prints
however judging by the shape they were bare foot
"who walks In a place like this without shoes?" Lincoln asked himself
they went up ahead and saw a young girl with grey hair punching a boulder along side a machamp
the girl was wearing damaged clothes presumably from training and her arms and legs were wrapped in bandages
"uh hey?" Lincoln said gaining the girl's attention "where are your parents?"
"don't have any." The girl responded not turning to face them
"then uh shouldn't you be somewhere?" Lincoln asked
"don't want to." The girl responded "they want me to be "proper" and i can't stand it."
"you got a name?" Lincoln asked
"bea." The girl responded
"well then bea I'm Lincoln." Lincoln said "let's try and get you back to where you belong they're probably worried about you."
"I doubt it." Bea said
(man she's stubborn) Lincoln thought to himself before getting an idea "how about a battle then?"
that got her attention
"alright." Bea said "machamp."
machamp looked ready to fight
"perfect." Lincoln said "go sandaconda!"
Lincoln sent out sandaconda
"dynamic punch!" Bea said
machamp tried to get for a flurry of punches but sandaconda dodged
"so it has guts as it's ability." Lincoln said to himself "use earthquake!"
the ground began to shake dealing tons of damage to machamp due to sandaconda's sheer strength
"use close combat!" Bea said
"use stone edge!" Lincoln said
sandaconda got the stone edge off before machamp had a chance to move
"oh I lost." Bea said
"you got guts kid that's for sure." Lincoln said "now let's get you back."
later
soon they arrived at orphanage bea was from
"thank you sir." One of the workers said "bea is always such a rebellious one."
"actually I would like to adopt her." Lincoln said
"wait what?" Bea said
"of course sir I just need to do a background check." The worker said "name?"
"Lincoln rogen." Lincoln said
"oh you're the stow 'n' side gym leader that's a pretty good track record." The woman said "I'll get the forms."
"what?" Bea said clearly caught off guard by Lincoln's position as gym leader
"bea go grab your things." One of the other workers said
bea came back with her stuff as Lincoln got the forms
"so bea is my sister?" Allister asked
"yup!" Lincoln said
"woah.." allister said
"why did you adopt me?" Bea asked
"well you didn't seem too happy here and well you're pretty strong." Lincoln said
bea was silent for a moment before muttering a "thank you."
"no problem now let's get something to eat." Lincoln said
ain't that just a happy moment
so currently bea is 9 and allister is 3 with Lincoln now being 21
