The crowd is pumped once round seven commences. In the gods' side of the arena, Itzpapalotl is cheering for her beloved with the rest of the Azteca pantheon.
"My darling, may my love carry you to victory."
Along with Itzpapalotl is a towering, muscular man who watches the starting match. He has long rainbow-feathered manelike hair, sky-blue wings, scaly, emerald green skin, and orange eyes. He wore a red and green loincloth with a golden belt with the buckle of his snake form and golden and jewelry medallions around his neck.
"Huh, I kinda find this tedious."
Aztec God of the Sky
Quetzalcoatl
"Now, now, brother. Enjoy the festivities, why don't you," says a dark tan man with an athletic build with black jaguar spots, slick dark blue hair, yellow catlike eyes, and wears a similar garb to Quetzalcoatl with a white leopard cloak.
"Huh, a shame that Xipe Totec can't be with us here. Of course, he was never into crowds."
Aztec God of the Night and Sorcery
Tezcatlipoca
Quetzalcoatl grimaces at his brother's lackadaisal nature.
"How can you be so calm? After seeing the deaths of our fellow gods, you would think that you be worrying for our brother."
"Ohoho, my sons, you need to stop bickering. Regardless of which human Huitzilopochtli fights, he will come out victorious," a gruff woman's voice caught the two gods' attention.
Towering over most of the Aztec gods is a towering, statuesque woman with bluish-green skin, lengthy, maroon wavy hair with blonde ends, serpentine ruby eyes, and two green snakes protruding from her back and wrapping around her chest. Her skirt is made of snakes, a headdress of cyan blue feathers with black tips, and a necklace of skeletal hands and dried hearts.
Aztec Goddess of the Earth
Cōātlīcue
"But mother, these humans have shown to stand against and even surpass us," Quetzalcoatl stated, much to Tezcatlipoca and Itzpapalotl's annoyance.
Cōātlīcue, however, laughed as she patted his Quetzalcoatl's shoulder.
"I'm aware of humanity's strength, but that's why Huitzilopochtli will win. Whether it's an army of gods or a revered shinobi, my son will always live to his name! HEAVEN'S STRONGEST WARLORD!" Cōātlīcue yelled with pride as she watched the match begin.
In the castle, Hanzo circles the war god, studying potential weaknesses that Huitzilopochtli would have.
"Say, human? I want you to answer this question," Huitzilopochtli said with a smug grin.
Hanzo narrows his eyes before replying, "Very well. What's your question?"
"What separates a warrior from a fool?" The Aztec chief god asked, glancing at Hanzo.
Huitzilopochtli's question piqued the shinobi's interest.
"Depends. But if I were to answer it, it would be sharp of mind. It's to take advantage of any situation and defeat your enemies by any means necessary."
At that moment, Huitzilopochtli's grin turns into a resentful scowl.
"By any means necessary? Kehehe. Such weakness," Huitzilopochtli's voice dropped to a harsh tone as he lunged at Hanzo.
"Ah! Huitzilopochtli is advancing towards Hattori Hanzo! What will Oni Hanzo do to stop the war god?" Heimdall announces as Huitzilopochtli prepares to decapitate Hanzo's head.
Hanzo swiftly backflips out of the way of the attack. He retreated and quickly threw a series of shurikens. Huitzilopochtli quickly blocks the flurry with his shield. Hanzo blitzes toward the sun god with his kamas in each hand. Huitzilopochtli swings his macuahuitl at the shinobi. But Hanzo proves too slippery as he leaps over Huitzilopochtli to try to land a strike on the sun god. Huitzilopochtli spat as his blocks Hanzo's kama with his shield.
"You humans truly deserve to be slaughtered. Honestly, using those projectiles as a distraction is pitiful! Where is your dignity, shinobi?"
"Dignity?" Hanzo questioned before glaring at Huitzilopochtli with a deathly look.
"There is no dignity in war, sun god."
Then Hanzo used the shield to jump off and land on a platform above. Before Huitzilopochtli could go after him, he heard a sizzling sound from his shield. He gazes at the kamas plunged in his shield with red slips of paper burning.
Huitzilopochtli sighs as a fiery explosion erupts, destroying the shield.
The gods gasped as they witnessed another divine weapon destroyed before their eyes.
"This is inconceivable! Hanzo managed to dupe the chief god of war and used explosives to eradicate Huitzilopochtli's divine shield," Heimdall shouted from the horn as the action continued.
Back in the fight, Huitzilopochtli dissipates the smoke with a single wave from his hand. He checks to see his arm mildly singed from the explosion. Huitzilopochtli bares his teeth and clutches his fist as he glares at Hanzo. Hanzo quickly moves to the next room to distance himself from the god of war. Huitzilopochtli jumped on the platform and chased after Hanzo.
As Huitzilopochtli entered the next room, he found himself in the hallway with panels of woodblock art. As he slowly walks down the hallway, he gazes at the art of the previous fights in Ragnarok. From Erlang Shen slaying Lancelot to Sekhmet succumbing to the poison of Abigail Williams, Huitzilopochtli then saw himself with a spear in his chest with Hanzo standing over him.
"What madness is this?" Huitzilopochtli demanded
Suddenly, a Yari spearhead pierced through the art to strike Huitzilopochtli in the chest. Huitzilopochtli caught the weapon in the nick of time and snapped it with ease. Huitzilopochtli roared as he slashed through the art and saw Hanzo with black colored eggs. Before the Aztec chief god could react, the Iga clan leader crushed the eggs and hurled dust into Huitzilopochtli's face. The war god roared in a mix of pain and fury.
"H-hee blinded him?! Hanzo blinded the actual sun god!" Heimdall stuttered in disbelief.
Huitzilopochtli wipes the salted dust from his eyes but is interrupted by Hanzo landing a leaping muay thai knee to the sun god's jaw. Huitzilopochtli staggers back in a dazed state.
Watching the action, Goll cheers on Hanzo.
"He's amazing! Hanzo's bringing the fight to Lord Huitzilopochtli. We may be back in the lead in no time!"
Hera, however, grimaces as she doesn't share Goll's optimism.
"Valkyrie, this fight isn't as clear cut as you think?"
"Huh? How come?" Goll asked
"I suggest you look for yourself," Hera pointed at the projection in the arena.
As Huitzilopochtli began to fall, Hanzo seized the opportunity to grasp the Yari spearhead, jumped into the air, and tried to plunge it into Huitzilopochtli's heart. But before that could occur, Huitzilopochtli gained his footing, pulled back his fist, and landed a powerful straight to Hanzo's face, smashing the face mask. Hanzo jumped back enough to mitigate the damage and landed on his feet.
"Baiting me into an attack? Quite hypocritical of you, sun god," Hanzo coldly stated, spitting a bit of blood from his mouth.
"Hah! Not's so nice when it happens to you, does it?" Huitzilopochtli retorts, shaking himself out of being dazed.
Hattori Hanzo, a samurai who forsook bushido to master the arts of deception and shadows. Huitzilopochtli, a god that fought against foes who have proven worthy and sacrificed the weak-hearted. Both warriors realize this is more than a fight for survival. This battle is to determine whose philosophy of war is just!
