Naruko raised a brow, "And how do we do that?" asked the girl.
"Easy of course, just use up all the chakra you have." spoke the man with a grin while Naruko sighed.
"Yeah easy." she said
.oOo. Konoha Arena .oOo.
The stage for the 3rd part of the chunin exams was set, and a large number of people were present. Some being high dignitaries and nobles or various background looking to see what each village gas to offer. At the very least those that participated. Even the 4th Kazekage made an appearance and was given the seat next to the third.
"Lord Hokage a pleasure to see you." Spoke Raza the Kazekage
"A pleasure to see you as well lord Kazekage." Greeted Hiruzen in kind with an accompanying nod.
Once the man in white sat down the stadium quieted down as the old man next to him raised a hand signalling for the tournament to begin.
Genma Shiranui saw this signal and nodded, he looked to the waiting area and then the crowd. "The 3rd stage of the Chunin exams is about to begin. The ninja hear today will represent their villages in one on one combat and hope to impress all of the dignitaries present here today, and driving attention to their villages and their ninja." spoke the man as he looked to the VIP just under the Kage box. "I hope all of you will show them the appreciation they deserve for making it this far, while many others died on the journey." he continued. "Now let's get on with our first match...Naruko Uzumaki will be taking on Neji Hyuuga. Please come to the arena contestants." he finished.
Then the two made their way to the field. Neji like most Hyuuga's was a pale teen with white/lavender eyes, brown hair tied in a low ponytail. He was dressed in a beige shirt, dark brown shorts, blue sandals and bandages wrapped around his arm and leg.
The boy entered the field with confidence certain that his strategy would work as he witnessed the battle between Lee and the girl and saw her long range attacks,
Then Naruko entered the field, she was dressed in her orange tracksuit. In hand she held a bundle clearly her sword.
They stood on opposite sides, both the picture of calm.
"I must say I was surprised when you won against Lee." spoke Neji hit tone calm.
"Really? I suppose you wanted to face him in the finals right?" asked Naruko a smirk playing at her lips
"Not really, it's no surprise to me that he lost, it's just the fact that you defeated him. After all you're a much bigger failure than he is." spoke the Hyuuga and Naruko's face seemed to morph into a cruel expression.
"Really now, Is that what you believe?" she asked as a cold air washed over them.
"I suppose with that new found ability of yours you might not be such a big failure but once a failure always a failure, that is the cruel unchanging way of this world." spoke Neji and Naruko started shacking, and her shaking turned to snickering, before she let out a hardy laugh, one filled with mockery and ridicule.
Neji frowned at this but kept a serious expression. "Laugh all you want, I can't wait to see the look of despair you face will take on when my words prove true and I win." spoke the boy and Naruko finally calmed down.
"You amuse me Neji, truly you do, but let me tell you this now, I will win, and prove your words wrong, infect I will hand you a crushing defeat just like I did Lee." she said with her grin turning to something ugly.
Neji just smirked and activated his Byakugan while taking on a fighting stance. Naruko just remained standing still.
Genma saw that the beginning remarks where done and so he shouted.
"BEGIN!" while getting to a safe distance.
Naruko leaped back while Neji dashed forward, each one knowing that range was important for this battle. Neji needed to get close while Naruko needed some distance.
With a smile on her face Naruko waved a hand and formed needles of ice and flicked them at the boy.
Neji dodged the attacks and they slowed him down, and Naruko easily gained the distance she needed. This then led the girl to forming more concrete constructs of ice sharp and deadly spikes before they flew for the genin.
Neji's eyes glowed at this before he started darting about dodging the attacks, with some difficulty. This was the flow of the battle for the first few minutes, Neji running like a headless chicken while Naruko sent spikes of death his way.
However this was eventually broken when Neji's darting got him into a somewhat agreeable position and looked at the latest wave of incoming attacks. He gathered his chakra and spun before lashing out with an open palm. "8 trigrams air palm!" he called the technique, and a wave of air shit out from the open palm each shattering a few of the incoming Icicles following this he continued by throwing a few Kunai lined with paper bombs, each one collided with more icicles resulting in an explosion that caused a cloud of smoke and Ice particles
Naruko was impressed by this, so she just remained standing where she was, ready for any follow up attack. She formed a ice blade around her hand and lashed out with a powerful swing creating a gust of air that blew the smoke and dust away.
It was then she heard a small thud coming through the dispersing smoke, and landing near her feet. She looked down to see a smoke bomb along side a flash bomb, two tools exploded, one released an intense blinding light while the other exploded into a cloud of smoke.
"Gyaa!" the light blinded the and disoriented her.
Neji seeing that his plan work quickly made his move. He moved fast making sure that the girl didn't do anything. He remembered the flower that pinned and skewered Lee.
Naruto growled in frustration, her eyes were stinging in however this didn't hinder her from picking up the enemy. His hostility was a beacon for her to track.
With a wave of the hand the ground blossomed into spikes of ice, Neji expected this and leaped to the air spun over and around the girl and landed behind her using the chance to sweep her off her feet.
Naruko stumbled off her feet not managing to keep up with Neji even with her sixth sense.
An image flowed through her mind, one where a dark blade sliced open her back. Time slowed for her. Then followed by intense and terrible fear filled her heart, the fear of death gripped her and she hated it.
Neji was about to attack the girl while she was airborne to end the match but a sudden wave of bloodlust and chilling aura erupted outward from the girl.
Skirting to a stop his hands slightly frosted over Neji blinked in shock and looked to see Naruko, still airborne. Slowly he noticed the ice shards that appeared around her wrists and ankles. Righting herself in the air she looked different.
Before she held a mocking, and cocky expression on her face, Determined to show him that his views were wrong.
Now however she was looking down on him, both literally and figuratively. That looked turned to a solid mask of distain as if he was far below her. Neji didn't know how to feel about this, normally he was someone who looked down on people, views them as talentless fools, failures and mildly interesting but nothing worth note.
Now he was being given that look of distain, that look of him being lower than her. Naruko remained in the air, she wanted to kill Neji immediately, the very moment he made those horrid memories resurface.
She floated into the air and looked down on him, one thing was clear. "Time to end this." She said and raised a hand.
Neji frowned anger filled him, he wasn't sure why but it was as if the roles were reversed. "As if a failure like you can defeat me, you're a failure now and will always be a failure." These words were more to affirm his own standing but still he felt like he was the inferior one throughout this entire fight.
"You feel it don't you?" asked Naruko her tone calm and chilling.
"Feel what?" asked Neji.
"Your defeat , you can feel it coming, that drop in your stomach, the pounding of your heart and dryness of your throat. Those are your signs of your incoming failure. You'll experience how it feels to be a failure for once." Said Naruko, then her face twisted and a mocking smirk appeared on her face.
"I am no failure, I'll never loose to a talentless moron like you!" he shouted.
"Of course you won't loose to a moron, in fact you should feel honoured, you'll loose to a genius like myself." Said Naruko arrogantly.
"You a genius! Ha! Don't make me laugh!" shouted Neji.
"Then let this white moon enlighten you and chill you to the bone." Said Naruko and the ground lit up, the entire arena glowed white. White moon! .
The light shrank and Neji tried to leap away from the attack but it was too late, light turned into a pillar , before everything within it was encased in ice.
Half of Neji's body was covered in ice, only portions of his right arm and leg along with his face were not covered in ice. Narukoy landed in front of Neji who seemed shocked by this turn of events. He struggled and tried to move but nothing worked he was already trapped.
Naruko pulled her rapier from her back and placed it on his neck. Neji froze. "You loose." She said with a grin.
Neji's shock was immense so was everyone else's watching. "How? Why?" was Neji's only question. How did he loose, why did he loose, why was he someone labelled the genius of the Hyuuga cursed. Yet a failure like Hinata a member of the main branch. Why did his father die to solve the problems caused by someone else's weakness.
He had many questions, but a knock on his forehead brought him back to reality ending his downward spiral. Naruko was smiling confidently she was the one who knocked on his metal headband. "Wanna know why. Ok then let me tell you. You lost because you a failure and I am a genius. I fact I am a super genius." Spoke Naruko proudly, Neji looked at her, stunned. She smiled knowingly.
"You don't understand. Of course you don't after all you're an idiot." Said Naruko, Neji blinked unsure of what to say.
"Let me explain, after all a it is the obligation of the smart like myself to educate the idiots like you. You are not a genius, what you are is talented, an extremely talented individual any general would be proud to have serve under them. But genius you are not. Having talent like yours just makes you talented, working hard like bushy brow just makes you a hard worker.
Now if someone like you who was born with raw talent is not a genius and someone who works and trains to death like bushy brow isn't a genius. The question is what is a genius? That my foolish friend is simple, that is someone like me! You see being a Genius is knowing the difference between yourself and others. Knowing that what you can do might be easy for some, and impossible for others, acknowledging the fundamental differences and inequality of humans that is the benchmark of genius. I don't expect any one not even the great 1st Hokage to be as great as I am in some fields, he could construct the forest of Konoha and I can turn the entire land of fire into a snowy waste land. He could create life I can turn it all into an icy waste land.
Knowing and understanding that is a mark of genius. Genius Neji is a talent and a result of hard work, no the other way around. Do you understand my foolish friend?" Asked Naruko ending her long speech.
"I…think…so" spoke the teen unsure.
"Good. You are talented Neji, you'll be a genius soon that I can see." Spoke Naruko before shattering the ice surrounding Neji after being declared the winner.
