Doom-sensei of Kivotos (Story Concept)
Disclaimer:
This can be considered as a crack crossover idea between 'Doom' and 'Blue Archive'. I humbly offer this idea in the hope that, one day, someone will give it a go and write a story of gut-busting comedy, tooth-rotting fluff, awesome moments of "Rip and tear, until it is done!" and emotional moments that will "Make a grown man cry, and that's okay.".
Kindly take note that at least some of the ideas offered in the concept are from helpful comments from fans of Blue Archive on Reddit. Also, I have only played up to 'Volume 2' of 'Blue Archive' and have second-hand knowledge of the 'Doom' series at best so some issues with canon might appear in spite of my best efforts to be consistent with the canon of both games.
Also, for any new players who do not wish to be spoiled, be aware that there are spoilers for both "Doom' and 'Blue Archive'.
The Beginning:
The story begins after the end of 'Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods', when the Doom Slayer is put into his sarcophagus after defeating not only the hordes of Hell but Davoth as well. In spite of finally putting an end to the threat posed by the hordes of Hell, as well as losing his strength due to the death of his own creator, Davoth himself, the Doom Slayer still feels rage that is fuelled by his seemingly unending grief over the loss of his loved ones including his wife and son, his pet rabbit and his many comrades.
However, instead of entering a state of eternal slumber, the Doom Slayer is instead brought to the realm of Kivotos as its "sensei". This marks the beginning of the Doom Slayer's new life as "Doom-sensei" and his adventures in Kivotos.
The Prologue:
Much like the canon of 'Blue Archive', it follows Doom-sensei's quest to reach the 'Sanctum Tower' to obtain the 'Shittim Chest'. The "playable characters" involved are, as in canon, Hayase Yuuka, Hinomiya Chinatsu, Hanekawa Hasumi and Morizuki Suzumi.
Unlike the canon version of Sensei, Doom-sensei is able to take care of himself in a fight even after losing a significant portion of his strength (diminishing him to the level of an immortal superhuman instead of an immortal god-slayer). In fact, he terrifies the delinquents and terrorists with both his brutal efficiency and his veritable arsenal of weapons. While he is unwilling to kill young girls, he has no problem with knocking them out with with his guns and fists after finding out that they are extremely durable thanks to their halos. His crowning act is to literally tear a tank apart with his bare hands which makes a certain Kosaka Wakamo fall in love with him.
After acquiring of the Shittim Chest, as well as meeting Arona who ends up taking VEGA's place as an A.I. companion, Doom-sensei passes his authority over Kivitos to the General Student Council (under a certain Nagami Rin's leadership as in canon) while he becomes the advisor of a new club known as SCHALE. As for why Doom-sensei is willing to pass control over all of Kivitos to the General Student Council, the simple reason is that he considers himself as a soldier, not an administrative leader of a whole continent-wide city. Besides, he hates bureaucracy and paperwork.
Post Prologue Interlude:
As in canon, Doom-sensei gets Hayase Yuuka, Hinomiya Chinatsu, Hanekawa Hasumi and Morizuki Suzumi as his first four members of SCHALE by default. It is also during this time when Doom-sensei visits the various facilities of SCHALE including 'SCHALE Cafe' and the 'Crafting Room'.
Another location that Doom-sensei visits is 'Angel 24'. There, he meets Sora who, quite understandably, is terrified of him. In a moment of heart-warming fluff, he awkwardly yet gently pats her on the head to assure her that he means no harm in spite of his justified reputation as a terrifyingly brutal warrior. This earns him Sora's trust and and affection which can be compared to the love a child has for a beloved father figure.
Sora will hardly be the only one to consider Doom-sensei as a beloved father figure.
In addition, Doom-sensei takes the time to visit three separate schools: Gehena Academy, Trinity General School and Millenium Science School. His reason for doing so is to see if any other member of the three schools, other than the four who have already joined SCHALE by default, will be willing to join as well. He also has an additional reason to visit Millenium Science School.
Doom-sensei visits Gehena Academy first and meets the rest of Chinatsu's group, the 'Prefect Team'. It is during the visit that he meets Sorasaki Hina for the first time and realises that she has been suffering from stress due to constantly keeping the rest of Gehena Academy in order with no real thanks from the leaders of the school, the 'Pandemonium Society'. As a result, Doom-sensei offers Hina a ticket to SCHALE Cafe, basic as it is at the time, and informs her, in his own quiet way with just a few words, that he can offer a helping hand if she ever needs a break. This not only earns him Hina's approval but also the trust of the entire Prefect Team. It is also during the meeting with the Prefect Team when he learns about a few troublesome groups such as 'Problem Solver 68'.
The second location is Trinity General School and Doom-sensei meets the rest of Hasumi's group, the 'Justice Task Force', and Suzumi's group, 'Trinity's Vigilante Crew'. It is during the visit that he meets Kenzaki Tsurugi and accepts her challenge of fighting him in a practice duel. Although Tsurugi is no match to Doom-sensei, her ferocity and effectiveness in combat earns his respect towards her. In addition, Tsurugi develops a crush towards him because he is not at all intimidated by her unnerving appearance and mannerism. Understandably, many members of both the Justice Task Force and Trinity's Vigilante Crew respect him for his strength and restraint. In fact, the "Mob-chans" of the Justice Task Force quickly start to idolise him.
The last location is Millenium Science School and Doom-sensei not only meets the rest of Yuuka's group, 'Seminar', but also the 'Engineering Club' and even the 'Game Development Department'. While Doom-sensei has intentionally visited the Engineering Club for the sake of acquiring their services in helping him maintain his combat gear, as well as build new gear, he has not intended to visit the Game Development Department. As a matter of fact, his meeting the Game Development Department is caused by an accident that involves a certain Saiba Momoi throwing her gaming device in a fit of anger and having it hit Doom-sensei on the faceplate of his helmet. Luckily for the girls of the Game Development Department, Doom-sensei appreciates good retro games so he takes no offence to the incident. That said, realising that retro first-person shooter games are not popular on most consoles in Kivotos due to its unique gun-focused culture has caused Doom-sensei to actually sulk for the rest of the day.
Volume 1:
Much like canon, Doom-sensei visits Abydos High School after receiving an urgent message to help the few students of the school, the 'Foreclosure Task Force', to save it from closure. As in canon, the first Abydos student he meets is Sunaookami Shiroko although he did not need her to carry him all the way to school. Instead, he is able to easily keep up with her in spite of the fact that she is riding her bicycle for the whole time to the high school. His ability to keep up with her impresses her.
Not long after Doom-sensei's arrival at the school, the first few rounds of conflict to somehow save the school commences. These conflicts include an attempted kidnapping of Kuromi Serika and an attack led by Problem Solver 68. Given Doom-sensei's infamous reputation as a "tank ripper", the attackers made sure to being "extra fire-power" compared to the canon of 'Blue Archive'.
After Doom-sensei and the Foreclosure Task Force have defeated Problem Solver 68 during one of the fights, he captures them instead of letting them escape. However, rather than turn them in to the Prefect Team, he instead offers them a chance to join SCHALE, thereby offering them a possible source of jobs and income, in return for not only information on the people who have hired them to attack Abydos High School but also their help in saving the said school from closure. The four members of Problem Solver 68, including a certain Igusa Haruka who is awed by his genuine willingness to help them, gratefully accept the terms. Doom-sensei then contacts the Prefect Team to inform them of the situation, thus avoiding a certain "canon conflict". It is also during the conversation with both groups from Gehena Academy that Doom-sensei learns about a certain group called 'Kaiser Corporation'. Doom-sensei later gets more information about Kaiser Corporation from the General Student Council, Trinity General School and Millenium Science School.
In an attempt to obtain proof that Kaiser Corporation is responsible for the attacks on Abydos High School, never mind the debt issue throughout the Abydos region, Doom-sensei, the Foreclosure Task Force and Problem Solver 68 decide to visit the 'Black Market' after disguising themselves. Much like canon, they meet a certain Ajitani Hifumi and, with her help, find their way to a bank that is affiliated with Kaiser Corporation. Similar to canon, the group hit the bank so that Doom-sensei can hack its systems with Arona's help. This not only reveals the various unethical, if technically legal, deals of Kaiser Corporation but also its intention of claiming the entire region of Abydos with only Abydos High School and the area surrounding it as the main final bastion of opposition.
Angered by the revelation and armed with the necessary information to make the resulting attack legal, Doom-sensei wastes no time in getting not only the Foreclosure Task Force and Problem Solver 68 but also the Prefect Team, the Justice Task Force and the Engineering Club involved in an attack that cripples an entire branch of Kaiser PMC. During the same battle, Doom-sensei rips and tears the robots that stand in his way (and are capable of surviving long enough to be fixed after getting torn apart) until the Director of Kaiser PMC is forced to surrender and leave Abydos, never to return. It should be noted that while Doom-sensei lets the director go to avoid the inevitable issues that will come from killing him, he makes sure that the director will never forget the terrifying feeling of impending doom by glaring at him in the eyes while "lightly crushing" the lower half of his face-plate with just one hand. Had the director been capable of biological excrement, he would have voided his bowels several times over due to mind-breaking terror.
On a more light-hearted note, Doom-sensei pats Hina on the head for the first time after the battle is over even after witnessing her combat prowess first-hand. His act of affection and gratitude, never mind Hina's adorable reaction and child-like desire for more "head-pats", makes Doom-sensei a living legend in all of Gehena Academy and beyond.
Although the debt cannot be removed completely due to being legal, Abydos High School is no longer in danger of closure and, just as importantly if not more so, a certain Takanashi Hoshino no longer needs to "sell her soul" to a certain "adult" named Black Suit to protect the school. What is more, the four girls from Problem Solver 68 officially join SCHALE and become the "representatives" of Gehena Academy at Abydos. The fact that Problem Solver 68 is willing to help the Foreclosure Task Force deal with not only the debt but also various delinquents and terrorists is an added bonus.
Post Volume 1 Interlude:
Doom-sensei meets Black Suit for the first time in secret after receiving an invitation from him. During the meeting, Doom-sensei makes it clear that he refuses to join forces with Black Suit and the other adults of 'Gematria' for the simple reason that their desire to understand the secrets of Kevotos, including the mysteries of 'Mystics' and 'Terror', is similar to the dangerous research of 'Argent Energy' by the 'Union Aerospace Corporation' in Doom-sensei's home universe. What is more, their dismissive attitude towards the feelings of the students is similar to the uncaring nature of the 'Maykrs' towards the suffering of mortals as long as their suffering fuels the production of Argent Energy.
Although displeased by the refusal, Black Suit is reluctant to take action against Doom-sensei due to a justified fear of provoking his wrath. Instead, Black Suit backs off and warns Doom-sensei that the other members of Gematria will not be so willing to leave him in peace.
In theory, Doom-sensei could have tried killing Black Suit to end a potential threat. However Doom-sensei knows that doing so will inevitably lead to an escalation of conflict and, honestly speaking, he wishes to avoid dragging all of Kivotos into a brutal war like the wars caused by demons in his home universe. Besides, killing Black Suit will not end the threat posed by Gematria as a whole and there is no telling what they will do in retaliation.
On the day after the meeting, Doom-sensei decides to visit three schools to find potential members of SCHALE which include: Shanhaijing Senior Secondary School, Valkyria Police Academy and SRT Special Academy.
At Shanhaijing Senior Academy, Doom-sensei ends up getting distracted by small kindergarten children who, while scared, are also curious about him and awed by his very presence. His genuinely kind interactions with them earn the attention of two members of 'Plum Blossom Garden', Sunohara Shun and Sunohara Kokona. Both of them readily agree to join SCHALE as they deem him as trustworthy. In fact, Sunohara Shun ends up developing a crush towards Doom-sensei and his "paternal manliness".
His next visit is at Valkyrie Police Academy, and he meets two members of the 'Community Safety Bureau', Nakatsukasa Kirino and Nemugaki Fubuki. The captain of the 'Public Peace Bureau', Ogata Kanna, readily offers Kirino and Fubuki to Doom-sensei as his "officers" at SCHALE. While Kirino is determined to prove her worth to Doom-sensei in spite of her horrible marksmanship, Fubuki is dismayed by the fact that she can no longer afford to be lazy while working at SCHALE because she does not dare to "piss off the angry dude who can tear tanks and robots apart with his bare hands".
Yes, Kanna's decision to have Kirino and Fubuki work with Doom-sensei is very much intentional in the hopes of making them more competent.
The last school Doom-sensei visits is SRT Special Academy which used to be an elite school but has become unmanageable after the disappearance of the General Student Council President. Due to passing his authority over Kivitos to the General Student Council, Doom-sensei can only advise against shutting down the school but his experience as a soldier allows him to make surprisingly convincing points of arguments in spite of saying only a few words. Although the students of SRT Special Academy, especially a certain 'FOX Platoon' are grateful for his support, many still do not trust him. During the visit, Doom-sensei meets a certain member of 'RABBIT Platoon', Kasumizawa Miya, and bonds with her. This positive interaction makes Miya decide to join SCHALE.
After visiting the three schools, Doom-sensei returns to SCHALE to renovate SCHALE Cafe with new furniture and decorations so that it will become a more comfortable place for students, such as Hina, to have meals and relax. It is during the visit that he meets Waraku Chise, who is from Hyakkiyako Alliance Academy, and Akiizumi Momiji, who is from Red Winter Federal Academy. He interacts with them and ends up getting two more new members for SCHALE.
Volume 2:
Doom-sensei visits Millennium Science School to check on the Engineering Club's progress on the technology that he has shared with them. He also wants to discuss with Seminar about the possibility of creating an advanced training field that he and the students can train. After meeting the two groups, he pays a visit to the Gaming Development Department and finds out that they have a problem.
Due to a lack of members and creations, the Gaming Development Department is on the verge of shutting down. As a fellow "gamer" who is also curious about the 'Ruins' and, an object that the girls believe will help them develop a game that everyone else will late, the ' ', Doom-sensei agrees to help them out.
Similar to canon, the girls and Doom-sensei encounter robots at the ruins and eventually enter a seemingly abandoned factory. At the factory, they meet a mysterious girl who will later be named Alice by Momoi. What is more, Momoi believes that Alice can join the Gaming Development Department as its newest member.
While Momoi and the rest of the Gaming Development Department help Alice to learn how to speak like a person, via video games, Doom-sensei secretly informs Seminar about the situation with Alice. Although Doom-sensei believes that Alice is not a threat, at least not as her current self, he knows all too well that she is no ordinary girl either and may attract unwanted attention such as Gematria or Kaiser Corporation. While most of Seminar are willing to give Alice a chance to prove herself as a person, a certain Tsukatsuki Rio considers trusting Alice to be "illogical" but is willing to wait and observe the situation.
To test Alice's abilities, as well as the conviction of the Gaming Development Department in not only saving their club but also helping the girl, Seminar sets up a plot that leads to a series of events similar to the canon events of obtaining during a second run at the Ruins and a raid to obtain a hacking device known as the 'Mirror'. Doom-sensei approves of the plot and even takes part in as a supporter of the Gaming Development Department. It is during the raid that the Cleaning & Clearing club make their appearance to not only challenge the Gaming Development Department but also test their limits against Doom-sensei.
Much like canon, the Gaming Development Department is able to obtain the Mirror but only received a basic message from the . In spite of the disappointing outcome, the girls of the Gaming Development Studio decide to press on and make a game that people can enjoy. With Doom-sensei's willing help, they succeed and are able to save their club.
A few days later, during which time the advanced training field is completed and a certain Otohana Sumire joins SCHALE out of gratitude towards Doom-sensei's suggestion for building the said field, strange robots appear around Millennium Science School. Sensing trouble, Doom-sensei orders everyone to be on high alert and to have the robots brought to an open area which can be quickly turned into a "kill zone".
Doom-sensei's decision turns out to be a wise one as, when Alice approaches one of the robots, she gets taken over by a malevolent artificial intelligence known as Key. Key then states that Alice, originally known as AL-1S, is a creation of the Nameless Priests, who serve an entity known as the Nameless God, to bring about the destruction of Kivotos. However, in spite of Key taking precautions due to being aware of Doom-sensei's fighting prowess, it did not anticipate not only Doom-sensei's willingness to help Alice break free of its control but also reveal a part of his own past that he originally did not wish to reveal to the people of Kivotos.
Yes, Doom-sensei reveals enough of his past for every person in Kivotos to realise that he was once a god-slaying warrior known as the Doom Slayer who not only fought against the literal forces of Hell itself but was also was a creation of the Dark Lord of Hell, Davoth, that ultimately defied and killed his own creator.
Shaken by the revelation, as well as the very possible implication that Doom-sensei may just be able to destroy the 'Nameless God' that it serves, Key tried to kill Doom-sensei with Alice's body but Alice, inspired by Doom-sensei's faith in her ability to choose her own destiny, defies its control with the help of Veritas, a Millenium Science School club that specialises in hacking, and Akebosi Himari, a sickly student who is a genuis and is also very skilled in hacking. What is more, Arona gets involved and proves her own prowess in the digital battlefield by helping Alice and defeat Key.
With Key soundly defeated, Doom-sensei is able to prevent an apocalyptic scenario from happening. Though Rio still considers Alice as a potential threat, she also comes to realise that the idea of Alice willingly joining forces with the Nameless God is simply illogical.
As the the forces of the Nameless God still pose a threat to all of Kivotos, Doom-sensei commissions the SRT Special School to cooperate with Millennium Science school to investigate the issue. This not only saves the school from imminent closure but also earns him the loyalty of the students, especially a certain RABBIT Platoon that readily joins SCHALE out of gratitude.
It should be noted that, in spite of the unnerving details from the revealed portions of his past, Doom-sensei is still respected and even loved by many. In fact, he has been invited to participate in a certain 'Eden Treaty' between both Trinity General School and Gehena Academy. Also, various students from Millenium Science School are aware that Doom-sensei has a powerful "A.I. Companion" in his suit although only Alice knows the full truth and has promised to keep Arona's true identity as the A.I. of the Shittim Chest a secret.
Though there will be many more dangers in the future, Doom-sensei is determined to do the best he can even if he must rip and tear every evil that he will face until his duty as the sensei of Kivotos is done.
Author's Notes:
I plan to cover the other volumes of Blue Archive eventually (at least until the end of the Final Volume) but, for now, this is the end of the story idea post. I should mention that Doom-sensei still has the dreaded 'Crucible' which I imagine is not only a weapon that can easily destroy halos but is also powered by Terror which is an alternative to the 'Hell Essense' of the canon 'Doom' games.
