Part Three
This was it the portal had finally been built
It had taken what felt like forever a good bit of that time was spent on making the house in the woods habitable installing the lab in the basement but Mr. and Mrs. Fenton had finally finished building the portal
Now it was time to test it using a some plants grown with Willows magic and a small portion of Amitys abomination slime her boyfriends parents were hoping go be able to lock onto the dimensional coordinates of the Demon Realm instead of the Ghost Zone
Luz was hoping it would work
"Ready Mads" Mr. Fenton said typing in something on a computer by the portal
"Ready dear" Mrs. Fenton replied before pushing a button the computer hummed lights around the edge of the portal lit up before just as quickly shutting off not even a spark
"Well that didn't work" Mr. Fenton grumbled "everything looks right on my end we were able to lock onto dimensional coordinates identical to the magic sample "
"The power source is the problem" sample of Willow and Amitys magic is completely destroyed" Mrs. Fenton explained "we'd need something that could generate a great deal more power than just some natural materials from the Demon Realm"
"So we're still stuck here" Hunter said Willow put a hand on his shoulder
"Don't worry Mr. and Mrs. Fenton found our home we just need something with a bit more kick to it"
"Willows right Hunter Maddie and I can whip up something with more of a kick to get you kids back home and kick this no good Collector punk back to wherever he came from"
"Exactly" Mrs. Fenton agreed before turning to her husband "what if we rebuild the ectoskeletons power core and hook it to Gus' magical amplifier converting the power output into magic similar to the demon realm so we can lock on to it"
"Good thinking babe" Mr. Fenton exclaimed putting an arm around his wife giving her a kiss on the cheek "don't you worry kids you'll be back in no time"
The second attempt didn't work
Neither did the third
The fourth fifth or sixth
It was a few days away from halloween and still they hadn't found a suitable power source that could punch their way through to the Demon realm
A lot had happened for Danny his cheesehead arch enemy Vlad Masters set up a team of ghost hunters to try and make Danny look bad not that Danny really paid attention to them
Than because his stupid satellite blew up causing a giant asteroid to come hurtling towards them Danny came up with a way to save the world by turning the whole world intangible
Her awesome boyfriend became famous overnight which annoyed the heck out of him especially because some shallow mean girl named Paulina kept throwing herself at Danny every chance she got
The way he described her made her sound like Odalia obsessed with image only caring about Danny because of his powers and how famous he was
It's why Danny was wearing a disguise
Though Luz used disguise in the loosest sense of the word he was just wearing a pair of glasses with the lenses replaced with ordinary glass while they were out having dinner at her favorite sandwich place where they had their first date
Luz leaned over the table "I can't believe those glasses are working" she told her boyfriend giving him a peck on the cheek before leaning back in her seat
"I know when a friend of mine told me this worked I didn't believe her" Danny replied taking a bite of his sandwich "but at least this way you don't get harassed by the paparazzi or worse Paulina"
Danny and Luz shuddered thinking about the cheerleader and her latest attempt to become Dannys girlfriend was especially annoying having showed up on his backyard in a designer dress covered his backyard in roses and hired a band to serenade him
Even when the cops chased her off she was still calling for her "ghost boy to be hers"
Luz shook her head "the sooner you get a restraining order on her the better" Luz said
"Tuckers working on it but he's trying to fix all the mess that Vlad left behind as mayor" Danny answered "still can't believe that Tucker got elected mayor"
Luz and Danny finished their food and enjoyed a walk back to her house there was a nice autumn breeze Danny placed a arm over her shoulder Luz smiled leaning into her boyfriends touch resting her head against his shoulder
It was almost perfect the only thing missing was knowing if everyone back on the isles was safe especially Eda and King
Making it to the porch Hunter was outside walking over to them a weird look on his face like he'd seen a ghost
One that wasn't her boyfriend
Luz stepped out of Dannys grip and walked over to Hunter "Hunter is everything okay"
"I saw Belos" Hunter said grimly
That shouldn't be possible the Collector obliterated him turning him into a smear on the wall
Hunter lead her and Danny over to the shack "are you sure you saw Belos maybe it was just some green goo from the labs a lot of stuff has blown up" Luz asked Stringbean slithering off her wrist where she'd been disguised as a wrist and into her hand becoming a staff
"It was him" Hunter said his hand was visibly shaking as he held onto his staff "what's wrong with me I'm shaking I was never this nervous as the Golden Guard"
Luz looked down when she felt something brush against her ankle seeing a owl mask grinning she picked it up handing it to Hunter "well how about we get some of that old golden guard confidence back"
"You've got some ghost powered back up too dude" Danny said putting a hand on Hunters shoulder his eyes glowing green before calling out his battle cry
"I'm going ghost" transforming from Danny Fenton into Danny Phantom
Hunter kicked the shacks door open "all right Belos this should be relatively painless if you just do what we say" Hunter cried out into the shack
'Yeah for us' Luz thought if Belos was hiding he must still be weak from the Collector and the draining spell draining whatever it drained from him and Hunter
Wherever he was if he was really here he wasn't getting away this time
Danny Luz and Hunter crept through the house heading towards a cabinet that was rumbling Luz and Hunters aimed their staffs at the cabinet while Danny took aim ready to fire a ghost ray with one hand reaching out slowly towards the door opening it out burst a possum running out of the shack and into the woods
"Oh thank goodness it's just a little angel" Luz said tension leaving her body relieved that it wasn't Belos
"He's gone he's really gone" Hunter said a letting out a massive sigh of relief "I must have been seeing things" Luz shrugged putting an arm around his shoulder
"Hey considering the royal fruitloop you lived with I can't blame you for being jumpy" Danny said patting him on his shoulder
"Yeah if he is still breathing we won't let him get anywhere near you" Luz said smiling at him "you're family Hunter and real family sticks together"
Hunters shoulder began heaving as he started to sob getting closer to her hugging him Luz smiled hugging him back they stayed like that for a moment before stepping apart Hunter taking off his mask "yeah this is starting to get gross" Danny vaporized the mask with a quick ghost ray before the three headed out of the shack
Danny gave Luz a quick peck on the cheek before he flew off
It was halloween and the Hexsquad were going to Old Gravesfield for the Halloween festival Luz didn't know why but her friends had really wanted to she knew that they weren't telling her something but Luz was completely clueless as to what they were talking about
What she liked was that Danny and his friend Sam were coming to meet them there Tucker couldn't make it completely swamped with being the mayor
Luz stepped out of her mamis van her friends following suit Luz looked around not seeing any sign of Danny
Though there were plenty of people dressed like her boyfriend along with Kim Possibles alien forms of Ben Tennyson Supermen Batmen and Captain Americas mixed with all kinds of other witches monsters ghouls and other stuff
Luz continued looking for her boyfriend when she saw him her heart skipped a beat
Danny was dressed in a superman costume turning his head he smiled at her spacing out
Luz only snapped out of it when she was elbowed hard by Willow "you're drooling"
"N-o no I'm not" Luz denied blushing as her boyfriend and his friend Sam walked over to her
"Of course you're dressed as Azura" Danny said with a grin Luz spaced out again this time she was elbowed by both Amity and Willow seriously get it together Noceda stop spacing out because how great the costume made his muscles look or how it brings out the blue of his eye or how his smile always fills her stomach with butterflies
Where was she going with this

"Luz are you okay" Danny asked
"Yes yeah totally one hundred percent you look awesome but uh why Superman I thought you'd wear something that covered your face like an astronaut so no paparazzi found out where you were"
"I thought about it but with how many people dress like Superman every year I blend right in" Danny said with a grin
'No you don't' Luz thought "agree to disagree cause you look great"
"So guys this is my friend Sam Sam you've met Luz these are her friends Willow Gus Amity and Hunter" Danny introduced pointing to each of them "guys this is Sam Manson one of my best friends"
"Hey" the goth girl said with a smile Luz's friends greeted her before they walked around stumbling on the reenactment of a witch trial
"I have seen the Mrs. Smith communing with the dark forces" the guy acting like the inquisitor said to the judge
"Is this true Mrs. Smith" the 'judge' asked 'Mrs. Smith'
"Nay it be ith a lie Inquisitor Jones seeks to painth me as a witch to take my fields"
"Demon lies" Inquisitor Jones said
"Your honor I protest" Gus said entering the scene the little show off stepped in between the inquisitor and the defendant "its really Inquisitor Jones who is in league with demonic forces"
"Kid do you mind you're cutting into my scene" Inquisitor Jones whispered breaking character but Gus ever the showman ignored him a small spell circle later and the inqusitor had goat legs screaming in shock he ran off Gus got a kiss on the cheek from Mrs. Smith while the audience cheered
"Wow they really upped the budget since last year" Luz heard someone comment while Gus took a bow before heading back over to them getting a high five from Sam
"Nice dude" Sam said "I wish you were around when that happened to me"
"You're an actress" Gus asked
"No I was actually going to get burnt at the stake by Dannys witch hunting ancestor" Sam said giving him a joking look Luz was curious how that happened asking Danny
"Portals in the ghost zone can open not just anywhere but anywhen" Danny answered
"Like to traumatize a kid in the 40s" Sam added giving a look to a now sheepish looking Danny
"Yeah not my best moment" he admitted
Luz and her friends walked around exploring various stands played games Hunter winning a teddy bear wearing a pumpkin that he gave to Willow who blushed 'yes my huntlow ship is setting sail' Luz thought thinking of ways to get it through Hunters thick clueless skull that Willow totally had a thing for him
They avoided the haunted hayride Vee had learned from her camp friend Masha that it was just going to be a telling of the disappearance of the Wittebane brothers and no one wanted to see that besides she and the rest of her friends knew where they ended up
Luz saw Hunter in her peripheral vision before he grabbed her arm gently pulling her behind the wagon for the hayride
"I saw Belos again it was him this time" Hunter said his voice sounding panicky Luz was skeptical how could Belos survive the Collectors attack the kid was pretty ticked at Belos for not letting him out
No Hunter was seeing things his PTSD was messing with him big time and Luz needed to get him to calm down before he had a full on panic attack and ran off chasing something that wasn't there
Besides why would Belos come here to Old Gravesfield after all this time
"Okay Hunter let's think why would Belos come here" she asked trying to get him to calm down at first it seemed to work but than Hunter had a look of horrified realization on his face "titans blood" he said quietly
"What"
"In the shack Amity found a rebus that Caleb and his wife scattered around Gravesfield they lead to stashes of Titans blood" Hunter told him Flapjack nodded "he must be looking for it"
Okay
Yeah
That'd be a good reason why Belos would be here it also would explain why Vee was talking in her sleep last night about giraffes being horrifying
"Why didn't you guys say anything" Luz asked
"You your mom and the Fentons have done so much for us we wanted to pay you back" Hunter answered
"Aw Hunter that's sweet but you didn't need to do something to pay us back" Luz said with a smile "so what's the plan"
Hunter pulled out the rebus "I took it from Amity when she wasn't looking and I'm going to get the titans blood for the portal" he explained getting up "Belos isn't going back to the demon realm I swear it on the astral oath" Hunter said before he ran off
That was a weird way to put it Luz didn't know a lot about Cosmic Frontier sci-fi wasn't really her thing but that wasn't what the astral oath was a giant fanboy like Hunter would know that unless
Luz felt a shiver of fear go down her spine
Unless it wasn't Hunter
Luz got to her feet following after Hunter he had a headstart and thanks to his Golden guard training he was pretty fast on his feet even without the blurring teleport spell
"Hunter" Luz shouted looking around "Hunter"
Stringbean slithered out of her sleeve changing to her staff form "where is he" Luz asked
Luz reached into her pack pulling out a light glyph she knew her magic didn't work on Earth but it didn't feel right not to keep some glyphs on Luz ran her fingers over the glyph and astonishingly it worked folding into a small ball of light
"Your spell worked how" Stringbean asked
Luz wasn't sure at first not until she remembered Edas first lesson "magic comes from the isles from the Titan itself" Luz answered pulling out a stack of light cards "which means the closer we get to the blood the closer we get to Hunter"
Luz ran through the woods letting of light glpyh after light glyph until she reached a flooded old graveyard pulling out an ice glyph Luz created a bridge to cross the water
Man she missed her magic so much
She found 'Hunter' "Hunter are you okay" Luz asked "did you see Belos"
"Oh no it was just my imagination again" 'Hunter' answered but his tone was wrong condescending the jacket of his captain O'Bailey costume that he'd spent hours sewing was tossed haphazardly on headstone near the water 'it's really him' she thought "you should look for the titans blood while I look for my palisman"
"That's a relief we should find the blood while we're here" Luz said Stringbeans eyes glowed as she looked for the titans blood another clue Hunter being possessed he wasn't even pretending to be worried for Flapjack flying off while 'Belos' was here
"Have you found the blood"
"I'm looking I'm looking" Luz answered seeing Flapjack cowering behind a gravestone with a vial of blue titans blood with an owl stopper "it's okay" she whispered
"Luz" Belos not Hunter Belos said from behind her tapping her staff against the ground thinking of an glyph a massive iceberg shot out lifting Belos high into the air holding him in place
"I was really hoping you didn't survive" Luz said standing up Flapjack perching on her shoulder
"And yet I did" Belos said breaking free of the ice dropping down landing in a kneel "you tricked me again Luz"
Luz smiled
"Hand over the Titans blood" Belos demanded his eyes glowing blue "it's not too late for you to stand on the right side of history help me destroy the witches"
"Not going to happen" Luz said
"Can't reason with crazy" Belos said toxic green sludge grew out of the pores of Hunters hands turning into claws
"Funny I was going say the same thing about you" Luz said holding her staff out horizontally
And this is where the chapter ends Luz VS. Belos
Danny wearing glasses so he can go out with Luz without being bothered by the press and the Superman costume are giant references to the Warner Bros show my adventures with Superman where Lois is a carbon copy of Luz in looks and personality
