Hey guys, welcome to my newest Gumball story. This is the first chapter of Tales of Atanon. This is my first isekai story, so I hope I do well. Anyway, here goes nothing.

"Alright, it's finally done!" Gumball beamed, having finished what he had constructed: a handmade jetpack made of soda cans.

Where did he get enough soda cans to make a jetpack? Today was Take Your Child to Work Day at his mom's job and he had taken all of the sodas from the breakroom. With these cans and some office supplies, he was able to construct his machine. His mom told him to behave and find something constructive to do while she worked and that they could spend time together during her breaks and lunch. Well, this was that constructive thing. His sister wasn't the only one who could build stuff.

"This will kill two birds with one stone. Not only could this be a new mode of transportation, but it'll keep all the employees from getting fat. Seriously, drinking all of that soda can't be healthy," Gumball said to himself, all the while shaking the cans like crazy.

"Alright, begin the countdown!" Gumball shouted, "Ten… Nine… Eight… Seven… Six… Five—AHH!" he screamed as the soda shot from the cans in a powerful stream.

Apparently, Gumball had shaken the cans too much. Thanks to all the soda, he ended up bouncing off the walls like a pinball. As if it couldn't get any worse, Gumball repeatedly banged against the ceiling and floors, destroying the cubicles of several employees. Including his mother's.

Nicole gasped and chased after her flying son. She ended up chasing him down several halls. Eventually, Gumball had managed to stop… by crashing straight through a wall. The room Gumball was in had walls mounted with those giant wall computers you'd see in those 80's spy movies.

"Gumball, what do you think you're—"

Nicole was cut off the electricity surging around the computers. Apparently, Gumball's jetpack had sprayed soda all over the computers. Small explosions of smoke came out soon after. This had caused the power as well as the wi-fi throughout the building to go out.

It was dark, but that didn't matter to Gumball and Nicole. Due to being cats, they were able to see in the dark thanks to their night vision. However, Gumball was wishing he didn't have that ability right now. Nicole's brows were furrowed and her teeth were gritted as she growled. Her body trembled; her fists clenched to the point where her palms might trickle blood if she wasn't careful. To say that she was mad would be an understatement.

The Watterson House…

The car ride home was silent. The nervous, uncomfortable kind of silent that where the wrong words would set the driver off. Gumball and Nicole stepped out of the car upon arriving home.

"Mom, I know you're mad—"

*Smash* Nicole cut Gumball off by slamming the car door and shattering all the windows, the action making the little kitten yelp and jump. Gumball speedwalked to the front door and entered the house, Nicole following behind.

"Mom, I know you're mad—"

*Slam* *smash* Nicole cut Gumball off again by slamming the front door, shattering the windows of the front of the house… even the ones on the second floor.

"Mad?!" Nicole repeated, making the kitten shrink, "You waste several cans of soda, cause damage to the offices, got me suspended from work, and you think I'm mad?! Gumball, I'm furious!" she snapped, emphasizing that last word with a stomp of her foot.

There was a brief pause between the two.

"I brought you to my job over your brother and sister because I thought it'd be a good chance for us to spend time together and bond, but you go and pull this crap!" Nicole yelled, "I should've chosen Anais. I should always choose Anais!" she muttered, massaging her temple, "Why can't you ever behave?! Why do you always have to ruin everything?! Why can't you just be normal for once in your life?!"

Gumball gasped silently, clenching his chest.

"Sometimes, Gumball, you really are a disappointment to me," Nicole said, the feeling of her words stinging the boy's heart like a knife, "Just… go somewhere else. I can't even look at you right now. We'll discuss your punishment later."

Gumball hung his head, tears welling up in his eyes as he walked off.

"Hey, Anais, can I ask you something?" Gumball asked as he stepped into the basement.

"Sure, what's up?" Anais replied, the 4-year-old genius wearing a lab coat as she worked.

"How do I be more mature?" Gumball asked.

"You did something stupid at Mom's job that made her angry, didn't you?" Anais guessed.

"Yeah. How did you know?" Gumball raised an eyebrow.

"Just a hunch. I mean, you can't go a week without causing some kind of trouble. Plus, I heard Mom yelling at you earlier," Anais told him.

Gumball sighed. As much as he hated going to his little sister for advice, she was the one person in the house that could help him with this. Darwin probably would've given him some bullshit lecture, and his dad… honestly, there was no point in asking that guy for advice… about anything. So, Anais was his best shot.

"So, you want to be more mature," Anais repeated.

"Yeah," Gumball nodded, "What should I do?"

"Well, first off, think before you do or say something. A lot of the trouble you get into is because you don't think things through," Anais told him, "Second, you could at least try to be more responsible. Take responsibility for your actions and don't procrastinate important stuff, like school," she added.

"Pfft! Oh, please, I'm plenty responsible," Gumball scoffed, waving her off… only to remember something, "Wait, did I turn the stove off?" he asked himself.

"AHH! FIRE!" both siblings heard their dad shout from upstairs, followed by the sound of a fire extinguisher, "No! The hot dogs are ruined!" they heard him whine.

Gumball chuckled nervously as Anais gave him a deadpanned look. The young girl rolled her eyes and returned to working on her project.

"What are you working on anyway?" Gumball asked as he watched his sister.

Against the back wall of the basement was a ramp that led to large ring.

"It's supposed to be an interdimensional portal," Anais said, closing the control panel, "If I'm right, it'll allow me travel to other dimensions throughout the multiverse."

It was a rather impressive machine. It had taken her months to find the parts for it and months longer to put it together. Luckily Bobert had come over a few occasions to do the heavy lifting. Literally.

"Huh, interesting," Gumball said. That's when a thought came to him, "Say, why don't I help you test out your portal thing?" he offered.

"No way!" Anais quickly shot back, "If you come near this thing, it'll probably end up exploding or something. The last thing I need is for all my hard work to be ruined."

"But you said to take responsibility, didn't you? Well, it's my responsibility as your big brother to make sure you don't get yourself hurt or killed by your own invention," Gumball countered.

"Uh… but I… you… you're…" Anais stammered.

"That is what you said, isn't it?" Gumball asked, raising an eyebrow rather smugly.

"Ugh. Yes…" Anais groaned with a roll of her eyes.

"So, might as well let me help," Gumball said.

"Well, he is the more likely of the two of us to do something stupid and dangerous. Plus, he'd probably just mess with this thing when I'm not around anyway…" Anais thought to herself. The bunny girl sighed, "Fine, walk up to the portal gate," she told him.

Gumball stepped forward, walking up the ramp then stood in front of the large ring.

"Now, stand there while I put in the coordinates for another dimension," Anais told him as she did various things on the control panel.

After a few seconds, the portal gate lit up, a circle of white light with a rainbow aura appearing behind Gumball.

"Whoa…" Gumball muttered in amazement.

"Now, put this on your arm so we can—What's that in your hand?" Anais asked, noticing the can her brother was holding.

"Just a soda. It was the only one that didn't explode," Gumball said, placing a finger on the tab.

"No, Gumball, don't—" Anias shouted to try to stop her brother, only for it to be too late as Gumball cracked the can open.

The blue cat was shot in the face by a stream of soda. The can flew out of his hand, and bounced off the walls of the basement. It came to an end when the can landed on the control panel… where soda had been spilled.

"Oh no…" Anais muttered just before electricity surged like crazy around the control panel, and then the portal. The little bunny girl quickly held onto something.

Suddenly, like a vacuum, the portal began to pull stuff towards itself. Being the closest thing to it, Gumball tried moving away from the portal. However, the portal's pull was too strong and caused Gumball to fall flat on his face. The blue kitten unsheathed his claws to get a better grip on the ramp. His claws left scratches, Gumball grunting as he was still pulled toward it, his legs lifting of the ground.

Gumball couldn't hold on any longer as he soon lost his grip. The young cat screamed as he was flung through the portal.

"GUMBALL!" Anais shouted after her now gone brother.

As the portal grew brighter, the control panel began overloading before…

*BOOM* *BOOM* The portal, along with the control panel exploded. Anais coughed as she stood, waving the smoke away. When it was cleared, she saw the state that both the portal and control panel. Both had been completely destroyed, damaged beyond recognition. All that was left were severed wires and hunks of scrap metal.

"Anais?" Nicole questioned as she and the rest of the family came downstairs, "Are you ok? What happened?"

"…Gumball…" Anais muttered her brother's name with concern.

Another Dimension…

Gumball's eyes slowly opened, the blue kitten groaning as he picked himself up. After dusting himself off, Gumball lifted his head and found himself in a lush grassy field by a dirt road. In the distance was a forest, a town, and what appeared to be a huge castle.

"Whoa…" Gumball said under his breath, "You wanted me to go somewhere you didn't have to look at me, Mom. Hope another dimension is far enough."

Alright, that's the end of the first chapter. I had a little help with this from my good friend I Write Big. Not much else to say, so… see you all next chapter.
