Helena typed rigoursly on her laptop from within her office room. The current DOATEC president had been working diligently for two weeks to expose the illegal actions of Victor Donovan's shadow organization, M.I.S.T. The very man who was still continuing the horrid cloning experiments that DOATEC originally started. Just so he can sell them to any nation that held military power just so he can he can amass as much profit as he could, even at the expense of many lives.
Her teeth grinded against each other and her fingers pressed slightly harder into the portable computers keys, the fact this madman was in hiding and still continuing his immoral research on the Alpha project was enough to make her blood boil.
Even though Kasumi and her clan had rid the world of Alpha-512 M.I.S.T still possessed enough combat data and genetic material to produce more clones. The thought of any militarilized nation having any of these clones that were on par with that biological monistrosity made the young woman shudder.
The young woman took a deep breath as she calmed her rising anger. She couldn't let Victor or M.I.S.T get the best of her. No, not this time! This time she would do everything within her power to topple Victor and his plans.
A loud knock echoed through out the room.
"Enter." Helena said casually, still keeping her eyes glued to the screen.
A man with a dark skin tone stepped inside dressed in a formal light blue suit. The light in the room reflected brightly off of his neatly hairless bald head. A smile lit itself upon his face as his shade covered eyes spotted the Douglas heiress.
"Hey, hey Helena! Still workin' late at this hour I see."
The young woman couldn't help but smile at her business partner. Zack exuberant antics always managed to find away to brighten up her day.
"Well you know me Zack. I was never ze type to take it easy." She said amusedly still keeping her attention glued to the screen.
"Yeah I know. Which is why it's even more important at this point in time that'cha do."
She looked up from her work and nearly responded with "I can't rest just yet" but the concerned frown on his face prevented Helena from getting it out. He was right of course, being stubborn wasn't going to make this easier.
Helena sighed in exhaustion and set the laptop on the glass top table in front of her. She leaned back against the soft cushions and felt like a boulder sinking in the ocean. God, she really was tired. For the past few weeks she had tried use every ounce of DOATEC resources to find M.I.S.T base of operations and expose their shady endeavors to the mainstream media but so far she was having zero progress.
What made it all the more frustrating was that M.I.S.T had more remaining hidden facilities spread through out the world. And of course they were completely off the grid and since then she had been trying her best to locate them.
And Helena couldn't risk DOATEC's reformed reputation by showing the mass media anything that they would deem as false claims if she found any of the remaining hidden M.I.S.T research labs and confronted Victor directly, if he was hiding in any of them. The fifth Dead Or Alive Tournament had done a good job of maintaining the companies positive public image though this time it was through honest means instead using it as a cover for nefarious acts.
One could argue her corporate image shouldn't be important but it wasn't that simple. She had worked long and hard to rewrite the sins of what DOATEC had commited when it was under Victor Donovan's management. She would instantly lose the trust she'd built with the world.
And what would Kokoro think of her?
Rubbing the drowsiness out of her eyes the Douglas heiress let out a hollow laugh at the absurdity of the position she was in. "Zat vile man 'as zought of everyzing didn't he?"
Helena felt the weight of the sofa shift next to her. She felt a hand on her shoulder as Zack gave it a gentle and reassuring squeeze. The woman turned to lock eyes with the man. Though his were hidden behind his dark shades Helena sensed that they became hardened and steeled that she felt her breath held itself in her throat.
"True. He's thought of nearly everything thats made him almost untouchable." He stated in monotone voice that was uncharacteristic of his usually upbeat and lively one she had come to know.
Helena frowned solemnly at that, feeling like she had already lost not only the battle but the war. She then felt him lightly pat her shoulder making her look back at him. Zack signature cheerful grin returning to his face.
"But thats just it! He's only thought of nearly everything." He told her. Putting the emphasis on 'thought of nearly everything.'
The DOATEC presidents eyes furrowed in confusion at what her business partner was trying to tell her.
"And it looks like you have to also! So instead of tryin' to think of nearly everything, why don't we start by thinkin' of everything as best we can!" He upbeatly exclaimed as he gave her a thumbs up.
Helena couldn't help but blink at the man who suggested the most basic solution to the problem that has been stressing at her for the past few weeks. She also took note of that he said "we". She felt a little lighter knowing that she wasn't alone in this or any other fight anymore.
Closing her eyes the blonde heiress amusedly shook her head and smiled with a snort. She truly was blessed to have such an optimistic employee. No...a friend would be an apt description.
"Thank you Zack. You truly are one of a kind." She said honestly and meaningfully, her expression matching the sincerity of her words.
"Anytime!"
Feeling her mood lightened a bit Helena straightened her posture and crossed her arms, she closed her eyes in thought as she tried to come up with a plan.
'Hmmm...I could try to get in contact with Hayate again. But after everything that transpired with his clan its safe to assume he still doesn't trust me aside from Kasumi.'
While she and the Mugen Tenshin clan leader had a common enemy it didn't mean that they were on good terms. Hayate still held a strong sense of distrust towards not only just DOATEC but her. She can't blame him in all honesty. Him and the rest of his clan were used as nothing but test subjects to further Victor's cloning and super soldier project. And while she had no direct involvement with the experiments, given that she was unaware of the shady practices that were happening they were still conducted within her families inherited conglomerate. So in that sense she felt inadvertently responsible.
She briefly considered Bayman but decided that their was no point. The Russian assassin had fulfilled his temporary alliance with her awhile ago. So all that mattered to him was taking down Donovan on his own terms and wage a one man war upon M.I.S.T.
'Perhaps I should start a little war waging of my own.'
"Zack? Is zere any ozer branch of mercenaries that we can reach out to?"
The man toothily grinned as he brought out his phone. "Way ahead of ya! I got a couple of 'em who would gladly give you their services."
The two looked through the device and searched for any capable paid soldiers who were willing to offer their skills in security detail. While Helena didn't doubt her own personal guards she couldn't take the risk of being undermanned against M.I.S.T own private military.
So far none of them seem to be what she was looking for until she stopped at one organization caught her eye.
"Hmm...Ikari Warriors." Helena hummed in interest.
The DOATEC president thoroughly read over this groups exploits. From what she could gather these mercanaries were their own independent army having no ties to any governed nation.
They have brought down many illegal operations and major criminal organizations over the years. If any thing this made them credible in their talents. And they seem to not only be in it for the money as the missions they partake in are for the betterment of the world.
Finally coming to a decision Helena stood up from her seat. "Zack, arrange a meeting for me wiz zese Ikari Warriors. I would like to know if any of their operatives are available."
"On it!" He immediately dialed the number but before he started the call he gave an exasperated look. "And please try and get some shut eye while your at it. At least to get Marie Rose off my back."
Helena nodded with a laugh, of course her loyal maid would still be awake at this hour worrying about her. She left her office and headed for her bed chambers to get some much needed sleep.
K' deeply sighed as he sat aboared the transport helicopter. The flight to their destination had been so boring that his eyes were practically begging him to close them. Though Kula's constant annoying squealing whenever she spotted a flock of seagulls flying near her window was only thing that was keeping him from doing so.
From what Maxima had told him the job that he accepted for them take sounded simple enough. Which is what he preferred honestly, needlessly complicated ones while they offer better pay still tend to piss him off.
Apparently they were hired to do security work for some rich corporate tycoon. Seirah and her team were originally the ones who were going to take on this assignment but unfortunately they were already prepped a very important mission. So Commander Heidern had requested a favor from them to go in their place. He wasn't interested in taking it but of course Seirah, Maxima, and Kula had persuaded him into going like they alwas did.
Was it too much to ask that he got his way for once?
"We haven't even arrived at our destination and you're already pouty mood." Maxima teased across from him, a smirk of amusement growing on his face. "We don't even know what the mission is yet."
K' scoffed at the cyborg as he slouced in his seat, folding his arms behind his head. "Whatever its gonna be it'll just be a waste of time like the rest of them they send us on." The former NESTS agent grumbled.
"Mhm. It seems they dropped out of the weapons development business two years ago." He answered. "Old reports say that one of their main headquarters in America was destroyed in an explosion. She was even their when it happened."
"Did they say what the cause was?" K' asked, the story behind this incident slowly becoming more interesting by the minute.
He gave his partner a satisfactory grunt. At least having that option made this trip somewhat bearable.
"Speaking of which you got any info on our employer?"
"Her name is Helena Douglas, the sole heir of a global weapons manufacturing company called DOATEC." Maxima replied, crossing arms over his massive metallic frame. "He didn't say the type of weapons they made specifically, but I'm going to assume its the military kind. Or at least they used to develop those type of weapons."
K''s furrowed his brow in curiosity behind his shades. "Use to?"
"Mhm. It seems they dropped out of the weapons development business two years ago." He answered. "Old reports say that one of their main headquarters in America was destroyed in an explosion. She was even their when it happened."
"Did they say what the cause was? K' asked, this story was getting a little more interesting by the minute.
"I couldn't find any intel on that." Maxima shook his head, crossing his arms over his massive metallic frame. "It was probably a faulty missle test. Maybe the experience made her have a change of heart considering now they just focus on charity events and sponsoring fighting competitions."
The white haired young man slowly digested everything his partner told him. His gut was telling him that there was more to all this. Something just seemed fishy about this DOATEC company and he couldn't tell what it is. Organizations that dealt in weapons were ones he usually didn't trust. Prior experience being molded into one by NESTS had always made K' wary of them.
Ultimately he just shrugged uncaringly, figured that it was just paranoia. At the end of the day it didn't matter. They were here to do a job and get paid, simple as that. Worrying about "what might be" and "what could be" was not worth stressing over at the moment. Especially over some corporate empire he knew little about.
All that truly mattered was getting this thing over and done with.
"We're now closing in at our destination!" The pilot loudly announced.
The three perked up and looked out the helicopters window. Outside in the middle of the wide open ocean was a large white and blue luxurious cruise ship.
"Whoa...that's one snazzy looking boat." Kula admired the vessel in child like awe.
"You can say that again." The rugged cyborg nodded in agreement. "Well we better get ready! Our jobs are about to begin!"
The transport helicopter landed on the cruise ships helipad. The three former NESTS agents exited, K' hefted his luggage over shoulder while Maxima carried both his and Kula's. Seeing how the only female of the group struggled on that front, he had no problem with carrying her load.
Once they stepped onto the main deck, they spotted a woman who was waiting for them.
She was a pig tailed blonde donned in an off shoulders black and white maid dress. Completing her outfit was shin high buckle laced black and red boots. What caught their attention was her short height. It looked like she could only reach up to Kula's chin.
A greeting smile graced her face as she bowed to the arrivals. "Welcome to the Freedom Survivor! I am Helena Douglas's trusted servant Marie Rose."
"Please to meet you." Maxima returned it with a smile of his own.
Kula waved exuberantly at the diminutive woman, making her feel a little comfortable around the two. The last one in the red tinted shades was another story. His slight scowl and disinterested demeanor gave off the air of a crude ruffian. Not to mention his refusal to greet himself was already confirming that impression.
'How rude! Hopefully he won't become too much trouble for Miss Helena.'
She cleared her throat and gestured for the three to follow her. "Right, this way please! Miss Helena is expecting you." They trailed behind her and headed inside the cruiseship.
The interior itself was very lavishing. Every area looked fit for someone who was clearly very well off. This Helena Douglas must at least be a millionaire or a billionaire. They had seen some fairly good cruise liners before, but nothing this fairly well kept.
'This sure as hell is one large clean ship. If our client is this loaded to have a boat like this then the amount of pay we're gonna get from this gig will be huge.' K' mused to himself, passing what looked like to be a large auditorium.
It was a relatively short walk to where they needed to go. Before them were two double brown doors, Marie Rose knocked lightly on it.
"Enter."
Opening the door the pigtailed maid bowed courteously to her mistress. "Your guests have arrived miss Helena."
"Thank you Marie Rose. I can take eet from 'ere."
She nodded and took her place at the other far end of the room.
The former NESTS agents were now finally standing face to face with the DOATEC president in person. She was of medium above averageheight and was blonde like the maid, but her hair was in a singular ponytail. The womans face was heart shaped combined with sharp features and bluish green eyes to complete it. She wore a silk blue coat with golden accent designs on it. A teal vest and shorts along with black high thighed laced sandal boots. She stood with such practiced poise and sophisticated elegance that you could see how well she held her position of power.
"Ah, you three finally made eet!" Helena said, her alluring French accent sounding just as gracious as her posture. "You must be K', Maxima, and Kula Diamond. Zough I didn't expect your arrival so soon."
"Well the Ikari Warriors transport crafts are state of the art. Not to mention we wanted to make a good impression on coming ealier above schedule than we usually would have." Maxima responded with a hearty laugh. A certain someone behind him mumbled out a low irritated "speak for yourself" that he ignored.
She lightly snorted at the larger mans humor, extending her hand to his in proper greeting which appropriatly returned.
"Speaking of zat, zhe commander informed me zat he wasn't able to spare any of his operatives."
He nodded. "Unfortunately no. Most of their best ones weren't available so you'll have to settle for us."
"I was never zhe one to look a geeft 'orse een zhe mouth. After all I'm sure you will be up to zhe are capable and up for zhe task." Helena clasped her hands together gazing at all three of them. "But enough of zat. You all must be exhausted from zhe trip and would some rest. We shall discuss zhe nature of your mission and payment arrangements tomorrow."
The DOATEC president then looked to her loyal maids general direction. "Marie please escort our guests to zere rooms."
"Yes Miss Helena!" She bowed to her mistress and did so again to their arrivals. "Please follow me."
The four left the office room leaving the heiress alone. Leaning back against her desk Helena closed her eyes and rubbed her temples in an attempt to soothe another stressful migraine that had been growing from all this. Hopefully those three would be solution to all her problems in regards to M.I.S.T.
An exhausted groan came out as her head dropped past her shoulder. Tomorrow Helena knew that she had to explain the details as to the reason why she hired them. The woman didn't give the Ikari Warrior commander the full reason as to why she needed their help, only the basic information and twisting a little. Helena wasn't proud of it but given the secretive nature of her enemies she had no choice. If the CIA didn't know of M.I.S.T existence then she knew for certain that even they didn't know either.
Helena shook her head to clear of the weighing thoughts and dilemmas she'll deal with the next day and in the near future. She slowly walked over to her mini bar to grab a small glass of champagne. With the past days she'd been having a drink sounded delightful right now.
"Yeah we made it. Its a pain in the ass that we're getting stuck your teams leg-work though." The pyrokinetic grumbled over the phone, leaning over the wide spread window of his shared accommodated room that gave him a nice view of the clear blue ocean. The moonlit sky reflected of of the waters surface giving it beautiful and ethereal look.
"Stop complaining! If its going to be nothing more than simple bodyguard work as you said then it shouldn't be as trouble as your making it sound." Seirah chastised her brother for his usual fussing when work was involved. He could practically feel her rolling her eyes through his mobile.
K' clicked his tongue at the roof of his mouth. "Hopefully it still won't be by the time we're done with it."
"Why do you say that?"
"I dunno..." A pensive frown formed on his face as he tried to search for the words that had been gnawing at his brain ever since his ride over to the Freedom Survivor. "I just got this feeling that me and the others are going to get wrapped up in something we won't talk ourselves out of."
Silence between the two followed as Seirah tried to process what her little brother just told her.
"Whatever it is you guys watch yourselves. If there are any new developments keep me posted ok?"
"Sure thing."
He heard some people in the background calling her and K' knew that they needed to wrap up their call. "I have to go, message me if anything questionable happens. And tell Kula I said hi."
Grunting in response K' killed the call and pocked his phone. Pushing off the wall the white haired pyrokinetic dropped himself on the bed that was thankfully large enough to hold three people even someone like Maxima. He had to hold back a relax sigh as he sunk further into the matress. He couldn't remember the last time he felt this comfortable. This ship must have some top class attendants to keep everything this spick-and-span.
Removing his red tinted shades and setting them on the stand next to him, K' felt that since no one was here at the moment he could get some sleep before both Kula and Maxima came back. Feeling his eyelids becoming heavy, the young man drited off to sleep.
A loud bang and shrilly voice unfortunately stopped him from doing so as his eyes instantly snapped open. "Hey K! We got you some food!"
K' smacked his red gloved hand against his face and groaned. Could he for once get some amount of shut eye tonight?!
"They even had your favorite! Sirloin steak with onion and lettuce." Maxima presented, hefting up a bag of his hands.
He was about to curtly reject it until his nose caught the strong scent of well cooked meat entering his nose. His mouth started to water and his stomach began growling audibly. He hadn't eaten anything since he gotten here and some dinner did sound good right now. Sighing in annoyance, K' sluggishly sat up and urged the cyborg to hand over the food. Kula hopped onto the bed next to him and started eating her ice cream sundae that she had been waiting for all night.
The pyrokinetic chewed on the small piece of meat in his mouth and moaned lowly at the taste. Looks like the chefs are in the same class as the attendance.
"So, how was your little stroll around the place? Anything we need to worry about while we're here?" K' asked, looking to both the cryokinetic and cyborg who had opted to explore the vessel.
Maxima crossed his and reported his and Kula's discoveries. "Aside from this ship being enormous, they've got a good amount of security stationed around well from what I can see. Though I don't think I can say the same for DOATEC's mainframe servers, they really need to improve on those."
"Don't forget the pool room! That's my favorite place on this boat!" The orange haired girl happily added in. "Hmmm...what about our host? What do you guys make of her?"
"Well I didn't expect her to give us a room out of thoughtfulness." Maxima said whilst rubbing his chin. "Surprisingly she doesn't seem as stuck up as I thought she'd be."
"Yeah, usually most rich people aren't nice, but she sure was." Kula innocently stated, eating another spoonful of her ice cream.
K' breathed out a deep huff. "I don't give a damn if she is or isn't. What matters to me is that we don't know why we're protecting her other than getting our pockets filled."
Both Kula and Maxima couldn't but understand his frustration on the matter. After all, they were being kept in the dark about who they were trying to protect a powerful woman like Helena from. Seeing as how that she had her own security, what did she need them for?
"K has a point, Maxima." The cryokinetic chimed in, doubt marring her features and usually peppy voice. "We don't really know what we're getting into when it comes to these guys." The older man nodded in understanding, his adopting a serious look as he addressed what their option could be if they didn't agree to the terms that Helena had set for them tomorrow. "If it turns out that Helena
isn't being completely honest with us, then we can pull out of this job. Is that fine with you two?"
Both nodded in agreement at that. All they can do now is see what DOATEC had in store for them .
Hey everyone, here is another story I'm working on! I have been recently getting more into the Dead Or Alive series lately, though I have played them sparingly in the past.
Now If I'm being honest DOA lore isn't the best when comes to fighting game standards, especially with five and six. The only characters that have any story depth and growth from what I've seen are Kasumi and Helena. Which makes sense because both are the protagonist of the franchise but even characters like Ryu Hayabusa doesn't contribute much to the plot. He's just there for spectacle and nothing else.
My reason for choosing K' is because his story is centered around shadow organizations and bio engineered cloning he would fit for a Dead Or Alive crossover.
Now with that being said I am aware of the reality that both King Of Fighters and Dead Or Alive aren't the most popular game in their genre so I don't know if this story will get read. So if I don't get any views for this story I'll drop it but I will continue it if anyone enjoys it.
Thank you for your time! And rember that positive and negative feedback is always welcome.
