Anyway this is a sequel to my other story Simple Yet Paradoxical. You don't have to read the other one but it will mention characters from the previous story. This will also be short chapters because it's all I can manage for now.

After Emma had calmed down Maya explained everything to Hank. His expression reminded neutral except for his eyes, it had a calculating look. One that Maya was familiar with and knew he was in deep thought and trying to think of a logical explanation or plan.

"It's rather late dear, why don't you head to bed, I'll take Emma to my lab and run some tests"

"But-"

"Don't worry, we'll be back within half hour, I'm only going to take a blood sample"

"We don't have to do that dad, it's okay, waiting a few more days won't change anything" Emma smiled weakly.

She had wanted to go but it was late and she didn't want to burden them. Her mother looked tired and her father did too. Yes, she wanted answers but her parent's health came first.

"Are you sure Emma?" Maya asked worried.

"It's fine mom, I feel better after our talk"

Half lie. Half True.

"Emma, everything will be fine, I promise" A blue curled finger tilted her head up and her father's kind eyes assured her that they would get to the bottom of this. Despite wanting to believe his words her gut told her differently and her instincts were never wrong.

"Get some rest sweetheart" her mother kissed her forehead and went inside the house.

"Hey dad?" Her father was following close behind her mother, pausing at the doorway at her calling "Can I borrow the car? I'm going to grab some fast food"

Half true.

"Sure, keys are in the bowl by the door, don't stay out too long"

"I know beside I have to get up early to help princess with breakfast" Emma grinned.

"Drive safe cub" Hank leaned down and kiss the top of her head.
