Chapter 5: Ore Sanjou!... Wait Wrong Rider
Needless to say Mesogog was not pleased by the insult I threw at and his response was to pick me up by the throat and slam me into the wall.
"Ahhh, you must be the Doctor's newest pupil, I did not think he would pick someone so… stupid". Goddamn, his voice sounded like he had the world's nastiest cold.
"I'm not stupid, I'm honest" which is what I said before he started squeezing my throat. Then suddenly I fell to the ground with Mesogog nowhere to be found. As soon as I looked up I found two people standing in his place. One was an armored man while the other was a woman wearing a lot of black makeup. I'm pretty sure their names are Zeltrax and Elsa and they also look kinda pissed off so I better not say anything dumb like…
"What is this? The Goth Convention?" Like that… Goddamn it.
"Oh, I'm going to enjoy destroying you" was Elsa's response to my jab while Zeltrax just pulled out his sword from his sheath.
Elsa then raised her sword to strike me but I rolled away and bolted to the door, turning left and just began sprinting down the hallway narrowly avoiding some Tyrannodrones as I did. Eventually I found the green portal the Tyrannodrones used to nab me and when I looked over my shoulder and saw a whole lotta nuh uh, I yelped and hopped into the portal.
"Well it's not like he's gonna fall out the sky right in front of us!"
"Fuck!" was came out of my mouth when I made abrupt contact with the hood of Tommy's car. I looked up to see the shocked faces of Tommy, Connor, Ethan and Kira. My fellow teens hopped out the car to check up on me.
"Dude! How did you do that?" was Ethan's first question, to which my response was…
"I dunno, There was a robot with a croissant for a face and a bunch of those lizard things involved tho".
Kira then walked up to me and punched me in the shoulder which kinda hurt.
"That was for throwing me… but if you hadn't, I probably would've been taken so thank you"
"Eh no problem, anyway what are you guys doing here?" I mean I already know why they're here, at least I hope they're here for the reason I think they were here for.
"We were trying to find you" and thank you Ethan for disproving my worst fears.
"My heroes" was my very deadpan response which caused Kira to chuckle lightly, so that was a win in my book.
Then suddenly a wave of Tyrannodrones, with Zeltrax leading them which was odd since both him and Elsa had been after my ass. Tommy stood in front of us and taunted him.
"Did Mesogog find another goon to do his dirty work?"
"You are not even fit to speak my master's name Oliver, if you do not come with me peacefully you will suffer the consequences"
The next thing I knew we were being rushed by the Tyrannodrones and since there are less of these bastards compared to last time, I can actually stand a chance without transforming.
Which is how I found myself running from 5 of them (At least I beat four of them), however before I could transform, a red blur swooped in, knocking them all down. Some of the Tyrannodrones were giving Kira a hard time so I landed a flying kick to the head of one of the Tyrannodrones before sweeping the leg of another one and hitting another one with a one-inch punch to the solar plexus. Eventually I found myself fighting a group of them, which is very hard since they're about as strong as me untransformed, but Ethan helped me out by knocking two of them away while I front kicked one away and karate chopped the other one in the neck.
After managing to beat all of the Tyrannodrones, all that was left was Zeltrax who apparently decided that fighting an old man and four teenagers was too much and left with the Tyrannodrones but not before Tommy said something along the lines of "Tell Mesgog i'm back".
"Look it's getting late and I don't want your parents to worry" was what Tommy addressed the team which caused Conner to make the frustrated reply of…
"I bet you don't, that way you might have to explain something about all of this". Which I got why he was like, since if I were in their shoes I'd want some answers too but did he have to be so rude about this?
Sighing, the doctor said, "Look, I'll explain all of this after school tomorrow, I promise".
Tommy then offered Conner a ride back to his house in order to pick up his own car, which makes me kinda jealous since I don't have a ride to call my own but I have this strange feeling that'll change soon.
After we went to the house to get Conner's car, he offered a ride to Ethan which he accepted and the two rode off leaving me with Kira and Tommy. On the way to drop Kira at her house, she began to… badger me for lack of a better term.
"Arjun, you need to go to a hospital, should I remind you that you fell from the sky and got beat up?"
"I'll be fine, I just need to rest-" was what I began to say before a glare from Kira made me cave.
"I'll ask Dr. O to take me later" was what I opted to say instead, but this only confused Kira with her asking…
"Why not ask your parents to take you?" Which is a bit hard to answer but since I'm not really ready to tell her the truth, but before I could answer, Tommy covered for me saying…
"For now, it's best if I take him, while I call his guardian to let them know". Which inspired another follow-up question.
"Guardian?" which is where I used the excuse/elaborate lie that Tommy, Hayley and I came up with.
"My parents died", which isn't incorrect since they're not really dead just really really far from me now and I have no guarantee that I'll ever return home to them.
"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't know…" was her empathetic response, which made me feel even guiltier about lying to her face.
"It's fine, no one really knows since it's not something you'd announce to the world" was my eventual response.
"Well if you need someone to talk to… I'm always here", touching my shoulder in a comforting way.
"Thanks", is what I said, giving her a wistful smile.
After we dropped off Kira, who invited me to her next family dinner which was nice of her but it did get me a lot of teasing from Tommy so yeah. Speaking of Tommy, he did try to take me to a Hospital but I reminded him that I'm a cyborg so I could take a beating and still be completely fine. He then said I should at least get Hayley to get a look over, to which I agreed since I didn't really want to talk anymore.
After Hayley examined me whilst lecturing me on being more careful, she found that I only had minor bruising which would clear up in a day or two. I also did not tell them about my transformation in the forest because the events of today made me forget and by the time that I remembered Hayley had already left and Tommy went to bed, I also had no idea what I looked like when I transformed so I decided to rectify that.
I went into the bathroom and summoned the belt with great difficulty, you see at first I thought about just summoning the belt but when that didn't work I thought back to when I first summoned the belt and tried to replicate the feelings I was experiencing back then and after a while I finally managed to materialize the belt around my waist and transformed. And just like in the forest I became a Rider however unlike the forest I was in control of my actions and was able to examine myself, I was wearing a dark green helmet with large white eyes reminiscent of an insect and a pair of silver antennae. The suit was black excluding the armor which was the same shade of green as the "mouth" of the helmet and had separations where my ribs were. The gloves were dark green and had armor plating on the knuckles and joints while the boots were the same shade of green as the gloves but lacked armor instead having slightly raised heels. As I removed the helmet, I saw that I had large red gashes across my face with an equally red gem in the middle of my forehead, I quickly put the helmet on again and hit the button that de-transformed me but unlike last time the suit didn't go away, instead the suit remained while the mouth of the helmet retracted revealing my now normal face. Deciding that this was enough excitement for one day I went into my room, managed to take off the suit and went to bed.
The next morning at school, I was very tired since I went to bed at 2 am and had to wake up at 6 for school so I really didn't appreciate having a camera and a tape recorder stuck in my face.
"Arjun Singh, Cassidy Cornell with Reefside News Network, what do you know about the strange things happening at Reefside? First the sudden friendship between Conner Mcknight, Ethan James and Kira Ford then the strange creatures who attacked you in broad daylight".
But before I could answer any of the questions she threw at me, Kira walked up to us saying.
"What are you talking about, he wasn't attacked, he looks just fine but you look kinda… pasty"
"Pasty? Are you serious?I hate fluorescent lighting" while she checked to see if she looked pasty or not, Kira and I took our seats.
"Thanks for the save, it is way too early for this nonsense" I whispered to her.
"Anytime" she whispered back with a smile.
"Cassidy, unless you plan on giving the lecture on the Mesozoic period, I suggest you sit down" was what Tommy said when he walked through the door.
"Okay, so who can tell me when it all began?", and then the ground started shaking which caused the power to go out. The sky then began to grow dark along with a storm forming above.
Okay so if I remember correctly this is when the Zords started rampaging downtown, and judging by the conversation that Cassidy and the other dude were having I was right.
Tommy tried to stop them from leaving but an announcement from the principal stating that we were dismissed for the day stopped his attempt. Kira and the others went up to Tommy with Kira asking Tommy.
"Doctor.O I think now's a good time for that little chat."
Tommy, looking at the others, shook his head "There's not enough time, If Mesogog revived the Bio-Zords we have to act fast, come with me".
"What's the worst that could happen?" Ethan shrugged his shoulders which caused me,Kira and Conner to groan but we followed Tommy to his car and made our way to the Dino Lab.
"So these mechanical dinosaurs, they're your friends?" Kira asked Tommy, trying to get a grasp on the situation.
"Bio-Zords, fusion-powered replicants that use dino DNA for their neurological functions" which was just a bunch of words strung together to form a barely understood sentence.
Ethan frowned for a moment. "And let me guess, you helped make them?".
"I'm afraid so, but for now we… I mean you have to tame them" the retirement home ranger said to the other teenagers in the room.
"Okay, if it's all the same to you, I'll B.B.L" was what Ethan said, looking at Tommy like he belonged in an insane asylum.
"What's that mean?" which was Tommy's way of saying "I'm decrepit and I can't keep up with you youngsters" even though I didn't know what it meant only because almost all of the slang here is 20 years out of date for me.
"Be back later" was what Ethan said before turning around to try and leave.
"Ethan wait, You can do this and you won't have to do it alone" Tommy explained before walking over to a metal case. "When I found the Dino Gems I had these made in case I ever needed to harness their powers."
"Into what?", which was Kira asking the big question.
Tommy then opened the case revealing their shiny new toys. "Dino Morphers, with these you'll be able to become Power Rangers" and boy did they look shocked, I mean who wouldn't be at the prospect of becoming a superhero.
"I gotta sit down." Ethan looked like he was about to fall over but Conner caught him before he could
"Breathe, dude".
"We can't be Power Rangers" was Kira's reaction to which Tommy raised an eyebrow at. " I mean don't you need superhuman strength or something like that?"
"Uh… You do" was my response to that which caused Kira to blush in embarrassment
"Oh yeah, I forgot.".
"The Gems are from the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. I recognised their power and hid them so that they wouldn't fall in the wrong hands." Tommy explained.
"How are you sure that these are the right ones?" Conner expressed his doubt.
"You didn't choose the Gems, the gems chose you" was Tommy's response, which begged the question, How did they choose people?
Kira was frowning and asked Tommy, "Can't they un-choose us?"
"The Gems are already bonded to your DNA, that's how you got your powers" was his response.
Ethan looked thoughtful for a moment before asking, "If they're bonded with our DNA, how come Mesogog and his creeps are still after 'em?".
"The only way the powers can be taken away is if you're destroyed." which if you're trying to convince them not to become Power Rangers is a great selling point.
"Okay, for future reference, that's not a great selling point" Ethan said what I was thinking prior.
"Look, all I know is that I didn't ask to become a superhero." Connor said, expressing his distaste for the current situation.
"The Dino Gems wouldn't have bonded to you if you didn't already have something inside of you that could handle the power, please" was what Tommy said while he pushed the case with the Morphers towards them.
Reaching out slowly, each of them took their respective morphers and examined them, trying to figure out what to do with them.
"So now what?" Ethan said while turning his Morpher over, " Is there a secret code or password?"
Tommy nodded "All you have to do is say 'Dino Thunder, Power Up' and you'll transform, after that you know what you have to do."
Conner didn't seem too impressed with that, saying "Dino Thunder? What? did you come up with that?" looking over at Ethan.
"I kinda like it," admitted the resident computer nerd with a small grin.
"You would, wouldn't you?" Conner rolled his eyes.
"Look, I know you three are from different worlds, I get it but you're gonna have to work together, or else this will never happen. This won't be easy, nobody knows that better than I do." Tommy said while looking at the three of them… which is when I realized that Tommy is the kinda person that you would bet it all on and come on top. "But you're gonna have to believe in yourselves, because I believe in you.".
Nodding, I said "You guys got this".
"Really?" Conner asked, looking back and forth between me and Tommy.
"Really." Tommy confirmed.
I then spoke up "I'll stay here" when they all looked at me, I clarified
"I'm more useless than a screen door on a submarine when it comes to fighting these things and knowing myself, I'm going to try and fight".
When the others tried to object, Tommy nodded, saying "I understand".
When the others left the Dino Lab in order to tame the feral Bio-Zords, I looked back and saw something that wasn't there before. It was covered in a large white cloth that when I pulled off revealed a very familiar motorcycle. It was the civilian form of the Cyclone from the Shin Kamen Rider movie. It had a note on the handlebars which read "Use it well, -MM".
Sighing, I put the note near one of the computers and went upstairs to put on my suit.
I had put on the full suit and two extras, one was a black long coat I had found buried in Tommy's closet and the other one was a red synthetic scarf that I tied around my neck. I put on the now normal looking helmet, got on the Cyclone and took off.
When I was racing through the city I hit the switch on the handlebars and pulled them back which caused the Cyclone to transform into its fully armored form and opened up a vent that shot air directly into the Typhoon, powering me up and turning my helmet back into its normal form. Firing up the Cyclone's boosters I raced towards my destination.
When I arrived, Conner, Ethan and Kira were already were already transformed and fighting the Tyrannodrones so I literally leapt into the action and started to fight off the Tyrannodrones giving Kira trouble, with her asking
"Who are you?" But before I could answer her a swarm of Tyrannodrones rushed at us, with me smashing the head in of the first Tyrannodrone with one punch, Hitting another one in the chest which sent blood everywhere and grabbing two of them and smashing their heads into the ground. Which wasn't what I was trying to do at all, what I wanted to do was send them packing with a few hits, not kill them. While I was wondering what the hell went wrong, the Rangers had finished up with their Tyrannodrones and had begun to battle Zeltrax but before I could step in, Tommy's voice called out,
"Rangers! Combine your weapons."
Getting on their feet after being knocked down they nodded and responded with a loud "Right!"
Together they formed their ultimate weapon
"Z-Rex Blaster! Ready, Fire!" and a red energy blast in the form of a T-Rex chomped down on Zeltrax which caused a massive explosion.
This is when I hopped back onto the Cyclone and headed straight for home since I would be unless from here on out.
When I arrived back at the lab, I didn't even bother taking off my suit, I just stared at my blood soaked hands wondering what I should do now. Suddenly I got this massive headache which felt like someone was driving a railroad spike through my head and when it was over, all of the events of the last two days rushed back into my head with one key difference, I wasn't involved in any of them. Which means at some point I rewatched the series but forgot? But how come I haven't noticed anything wrong with my memory? And what else did I forget?. I went upstairs into my room, I hit the switch which made the suit disappear like the first time and headed back down to the Dino Lab, questions for another time.
I didn't have to wait long for them to get back and when they did Tommy took the Morphers and did something to them that turned them into bracelets with their gems in the center. "Keep these bracelets with you at all times, they'll access your Morphers when you need them and allow you to communicate with me and each other".
"Doctor. O I know you're real smart and science teacher but this is… Well, I mean how did you-" was what Kira began to say before another thought occurred to her, with her turning to me.
"What's Arjun's role in this?"
"Yeah, is he a Power Ranger?" was Conner's question.
"I mean, I don't think so? There were only three Dino-Gems and we took 'em" Ethan explained to Conner, before turning to me. "So what is your role in all of this?"
Deciding to bite the bullet and just tell them, I said "I'm just your average teenage Canadian cyborg and I guess I'll help out during non-giant robot fights, kinda like today".
After a long silence with stares of disbelief, Ethan broke it with "You're a cyborg?! Since when? And what do you mean today?".
"Yes, I'm a cyborg, If I knew when I would tell you and I was the dude in the suit who turned those lizards into paste".
Which queued another long silence which was broken by Kira, "Why didn't tell us?".
I took a moment to think of a response that wasn't "I don't know" but eventually I did come up with one, "Because I wanted to be normal for a little longer and when I put on the suit… It's like I become a different person. But if someone gets hurt because I wanted to sit on my ass, I would never forgive myself.".
They all nodded at that and Ethan changed the subject (thank god) and turned to Tommy.
"Do you think Mesogog's gonna stick around?".
"Unfortunately, they always do," Tommy said with a long-suffering sigh.
Conner turned his head toward the overeducated science teacher, "They?".
"This is a lot to take in," Tommy continued.
"Tell me about it," Ethan said sarcastically.
"Your lives have changed in ways you couldn't have imagined, but if you remember that you're a team and work together… no one can beat you." Tommy pulling an inspirational speech out his ass "No one".
After that mess of a situation, everyone left excluding me since Tommy had some choice words on the whole 'karate bug man' thing but I told him that yesterday's events made me forget to tell him which reminded me to tell him about the memory thing which promptly gave way to more questions, which I answered the best I could.

As I watched the footage of the battle that occurred in Reefside, I noticed something- rather someone had resurfaced.
"What, have you got yourself into now Arjun?" I muttered under my breath and boarded the bus headed to Reefside.
