Hi, so here we are again! Once again I am going back to this wonderful fandom that gave me so much over the course of my writing. I know I have took a bit of a long break from this fandom but I recently watched all the first six series of OUAT and the idea's kept popping into my head left, right and centre starting with this one.
I love Outlaw Queen. I love Regina, I don't why everyone got to be with the person they loved but her. I honestly don't know what the point of that ending for her in Season 7 was but then I don't get the point of Season 7 at all to be honest. So this is my stab at giving her something-eg, a happy ending with Robin with no Marian.
On that note-I have a love/hate relationship with the Charmings, Seasons 1, 3, 5 they are fine, Season 2 ish, 4 okay until we get to the last bit, but Season 6...that bit with Snow, Emma and Belle about Gideon is a scene that makes me so angry I have to stop watching. So yeah...if you are looking for a lovey dovey on the ball happy Charming story this isn't going to be it. To be honest at times Emma gets on my nerves when it comes to Regina so...I will try and keep this as neutral as possible but the Charmings especially Snow are not my favourite characters nor will they ever be.
Disclaimer-Nothing is mine I am just playing with the characters.
I predict this is going to be twenty chapters long. And there will be a few chapters set in the Enchanted Forest.
Please Read and Review and let me know what you think and I will try and update as soon as work and life allows me.
Also I am not great with spelling and grammar. Nor is this story going to be cannon or dialogue compliment. Something to have in mind if that's your thing.
And there will be some swearing in this story so keep that in mind.
As of now I am not taking prompts nor I am answers PMs so please do keep that in mind too. Any questions leave it in a review and I will try and answer it in the notes part of each story.
Storybook Love (Every Version Of You)
Chapter 10-A Day's Work
In which Regina must make a decision and in doing so tells Robin...and then Zelena strikes. Final (ish) chapter set in the Enchanted Forest for a while if not ever.
This was ridiculous, this was utterly ridiculous and she needed to get a grip before this got out of hand and she did something…amateurish and let her emotions control her magic and blew up something. She was Regina Mills, she was Cora's daughter, she was the Evil Queen, she had torn apart worlds and seen them put together again, she had, had a son, nearly lost him, found him again and then lost him again and she had been bowed and bent and never broken. She had been swimming in loss and blood before she was even out the cradle and now what? She was nervous because she was about to tell some man that she was pregnant?
Ridiculous!
Except it wasn't…it really wasn't.
Regina had known what she was going to do and that was the sticking point. Once she made a decision she tended to stick with it come hell or high water. She did not run away from it, she had not ran away from the curse nor what she had, had to do to cast it, she was not running away from this one. She wanted this baby, actually she wanted this baby more than she wanted revenge on her half sister (and she was still not sure if the green skinned bitch was telling the truth there) and that was saying something. She wanted this baby more than she wanted air to breathe sometimes and though she was not a woman overcome by a sentimental moment she found herself sat sometimes in her bed chamber her hand to her belly thinking up baby names.
It was odd really. Henry had been easy. Henry Daniel. Her father and her first love.
This time she was drawing up a blank for both boys and girls. She had a feeling it would come down to writing the names that she liked down on a piece of parchment and then crossing off any that the Charming's thought good.
But she had yet to tell Robin. Actually…scratch that, that was what she was going to do right now. Tell the baby's father.
It didn't matter she told herself sternly as she looked at herself in the mirror. It didn't matter if he thought that she was bad, too bad to have a child. It didn't matter if everything that she had heard up until this point from him had been a lie. What mattered was this baby. Regina was a strong, powerful, confident woman, she was totally unafraid of raising a baby by herself…hell she had done it for ten long years and though she knew that Emma Swan liked to pretend that she had been the one who had made Henry into the strong teenager that he was when she had seen him last Regina knew that deep down it was her. For better or for worse it was her.
And just thinking about Henry, thinking about Henry's reaction to becoming a big brother or sister was enough to make her stomach churn and her heart heave in a way that she knew had nothing to do with either sickness or heartburn. To think about her son while she was pregnant was nothing short of pain upon pain upon pain.
So simply she didn't think about it or think about him unless she had to. There was no magical way out here, no beans or portals or anything that Gold had built his world upon. There was no curse left to cast unless she recast her original one and the two things that she loved the most was Henry and this baby and she would never lift a finger to raise them. So here was raising one child while trapped and separated from the other and she knew there and then that she would do whatever she had do to protect this baby and if that meant not thinking about her son with every waking movement then that was what she would do. This little life inside of her was her priority now and she didn't need a man to tell her that.
But…Regina could not help but admit that she wanted him involved. She wanted him full stop. He was the first man since Daniel that had made her feel something, made her think that she was worth something, had loved her and touched her and kissed her for, her and not for the crown upon her head or the chance however futile to get an heir between her legs. He made her laugh, he had an adorable boy that called her Gina, he came to her and breathed a new life back into her, the broken woman and told her time and time again when she didn't think that she could tell herself anymore that there was hope for a reunion with her son.
Regina had been watching him with dark eyes in the weeks since her decision had been met and she saw him with Roland and her heart ached with want for that with her own child. She wanted him to be with her baby the way she was with Roland and more to the point she wanted him to be with her the way he had been before, to hold her as if she was something precious and not an instrument of dark magic playing at being good until the charade was up.
But at the same time…as much as she longed for him with every bone and breath in her body she knew that she could do this alone and that in the upcoming hours when he slipped away from his men and would no doubt find his way though all the secret passageways to her bed, was what made the all the difference in the world.
She chewed her bottom lip pressing the teeth down into plump flesh as he slipped in and squared her shoulders. There was no Queenship here, no finery, no jewels, nothing. Just her and the man she loved who she hoped would love her enough to stand by her and maybe even just a little bit longer after that.
"Hello" he said bending down to kiss her and she gripped him kissing him back and wrapping her arms around him so tight that she thought she might pop his back…she had missed him…she had missed him more than words could say but she had, had to make sure before she saw him that her nausea was under control because nothing was more sexy than vomit was it?
"Hi" Regina replied as he kissed her and she melted against him like some twit romance heroine in the books that Graham had pretended that he didn't read (even though they were stacked by his bed), sagging against the tall handsome man come to rescue her from the dark and evil witch.
She grinned into the kiss basking in the adoration and attention relaxing somewhat into his embrace even though she knew she had news to give him that was anything other than relaxing.
As soon as she thought on that the mood disappeared. She pushed backwards and he let her go letting her slip out of the embrace and she sat on the bed suddenly wishing that she was more articulate. Everything that she had been planning to say had disappeared out of her mind.
"Robin…I have to talk to you"
"Alright"
"Something has happened?"
"The witch?" he asked and even though he had thrown his bow and arrow to the corner of the room she saw him turn his head ever so slightly as if to grab it. She shook her head and took his hand in her own and prayed for the first time in her life that fate was not about to fuck it all up for her again.
"No" she said cautiously. "Not the witch…eh…more like…me and you"
There was a pause as he stood there and then.
"Oh"
His voice now sounded worried, there was an edge of something there too, something that sounded like he was stealing himself for something and Regina nodded, told herself very sternly that she needed to get this done and to know one way or the other and then she would be able to move on.
So she told herself anyway.
"I'm pregnant Robin"
There. She'd said it.
For a second he stared at her and then he took a step backwards and looked her up and down eyes and mouth moving simultaneously. Here she noticed that his eyes were very green and like some lovesick idiot she thought wouldn't it be nice if her baby had those exact same shade of eyes.
Robin Hood gazed at her for a second and then.
"Okay" he said nodding he cast his gaze around the room and then nodded.
"Okay" he said again and Regina stared at him.
"Okay" she repeated and he turned to look at her and then he grinned. It shone through his face as though he had been holding back from her, all the joy and all the magic that he had been holding back on her. For a second she stared at him wondering if she was misreading the signs but then he was grinning and kissing her as if this news was the best thing that he had heard in a long time and she had admit…it was throwing her a bit.
Regina was not used to people looking at her like that.
"Were having a baby?" he said and she nodded. He grinned and she thought that he looked eons younger than he was and then before she could stay anything else he picked her up and spun her around as if this was the happiest thing that he had ever heard off.
"Oh"
He dropped her immediately and stared at her eyes dimming a little.
"Your not happy"
"No I am" she said smiling "I just…I wasn't sure that you would be happy. I mean there's the baby and all but…well…there's me and…" she trailed off but he kissed her long and hard and slow his hand cupping the back of her neck threading into her hair and she melted into his touch.
"I love you" he said quietly. She jerked backwards in surprise and he smiled as if he understood that and more. "I know" he said carefully. "That you don't trust that yet, I know that you are not ready to say that yet. But know that I love you and I love this baby and that I am quite prepared to keep saying it until you believe me"
She stared at him and then she nodded slightly stunned, even if Regina had been an optimistic woman—she was not—she would not have imagined it going this way.
Robin was grinning though and it was Robin and not some enchanted monkey, it was Robin Hood telling her, Regina Mills that he loved her no matter what, that he was here for her and their baby and that they were going to be okay.
It took a lot to shock her but he had done it, he'd manged to find a way under all the defences that she had slammed up and make her happy, make her feel young and trusting again. She wanted to trust him. Actually if he fell short of this trust then she was sure that he was going to destroy her.
(And who knows? Maybe one day in the not too distant future with her baby in her arms and her son by her side again she would learn to say it back?)
(She thought so…she hoped so…)
But maybe that was love? Total trust in your partner. And she did trust him and as he swept her away on this strange vision of them being a family she found that she was actually starting to believe it, found that she was actually wanting it and that the cracks that had battered her heart for so many years were finally starting to heal, wrapped up in the promise of a family and a happy ending that could not be taken away.
And yay! Over half way done with this story. I will at some point do one more chapter in the Enchanted Forest maybe two more to cover creating the curse but I think right now we are in Storybrooke for a while.
Next Chapter-Regina does not know what to think when she learns that Neal is back, and that's before you get to Gold being alive and a prisoner, but then he's dead, there's Robin Hood at her side during an emotional moment and Emma...who she knows is planning something that is going to cause her pain.
