Chapter 6: Pac-Peep-and-Seek

Pac's team were all outside the Round House setting everything up for Easter. "This is gonna be the best Easter party ever." Cyli said. "Yeah. Got my costume on and everything." Spiral said, painted like an Easter egg. "Uh, we weren't supposed to dress up for this party, Spiral." Cyli said. "Yeah, I know. But I just like painting myself for Easter." Spiral said. "Well, I like it, Spiral-san. It's very miryoku-tekina. That's Japanese for fascinating." Elliptika said. "Thanks, Ellie." Spiral said. "Hey, where's Pac? It's not like him to miss the Easter Feasts." Cyli said. "I think he was helping Sir C with something in his lab with the others." Spiral said. "Well, let's hope he gets here soon. Otherwise, he won't get any food." Blinky said as he Inky, Pinky and Clyde set up the buffet table.

Meanwhile, Pac was in Sir C's lab, helping him cleaning up…ghost slime. Buttler got a little over excited about spending his first Easter in Pac-World since he became a ghost. "A thousand apologies, Sir Cumference. It's been so long since I've had the chance to enjoy Easter so happily." Buttler said. "Think nothing of it, Buttler. Everyone has their moments of overdoing their happiness for Easter." Sir C said. "Yeah, dude. One time, I was so excited for Easter, I ended up eating way too much and nearly closed down Pac-It-In-Burgers." Pac said. "Fascinating. And here I thought you would've learned to control your appetite." Buttler said. "Considering that his stomach's basically a black hole, that's scientifically impossible." Sir C said. Pac smiled sheepishly at that. Suddenly, there was a loud boom outside. "What in blazes was that?!" Sir C asked in surprise. Just then, Inky phased into the lab. "Pac! You gotta come outside quickly!" He exclaimed.

As Pac, Sir C and Buttler followed Inky outside, they saw the others helping the Easter Pac-Peep, who was looking badly hurt. "The Easter Pac-Peep! What happened to you?" Pac asked. "Bwak. It was Betrayus. He and his ghostly goons happened. They attacked my island." Pac-Peep said, coughing in pain. Pac was shocked to hear this.

A while later, Pac and his team brought the Pac-Peep inside the Round House where President Spheros' staff doctors were tending to her wounds. "I don't get it, Pac-Peep. How did Betrayus find his way to your island? There was no way he could've found it like we did last time." Cyli said. "Yeah, and last time, you held us prisoner in your little eggs." Blinky said, still miffed from that time. "And I'm really sorry for that. But as it turns out, Betrayus left one of his Slug Cams behind the last time you visited. And using that Slug Cam, he was able to find his way back to my island and attacked with his ghost army! They overwhelmed my own army, my precious chocolate bunnies!" Pac-Peep explained, squawking in tears. "But why would Betrayus do this?" Spiral asked. "Quite obvious that my former master wants payback for your payback. Betrayus was never one to forgive and forget." Buttler said as he dried the Pac-Peep's tears with a hankie. "He's right. All I wanted was to pay that evil specter back for messing with my eggs when he was a kid and now look at me. My island! GONE!" Pac-Peed cried. "Not for long. Betrayus is not gonna get away with this! We're going to Easter Egg Island and we're gonna stop Betrayus!" Pac declared. The team all cheered.

Another while later, the team was on the way to Easter Egg Island. Sir C upgraded the Watermelon Ship to carry the new and improved bigger Pac-Team. "We should be approaching Easter Egg Island any moment now." Spiral said, driving the Watermelon Ship. "Oh, I hope we're in time to save whatever's left. Oh, my poor, dear island. So alone, under that evil ghost's control." Pac-Peep said, ready to cry again. "It's okay, Pac-Peep. Whatever Betrayus has planned, we can stop him." Cyli said. "Yeah. There isn't an evil scheme he cooked up that we can't foil." Pac said. "Uh, I wouldn't be so sure about that." Spiral said, spotting a horrifying sight as the clouds cleared. The team gathered to see what it was and let out a horrified gasp. All of Easter Egg Island was shrouded in darkness, covered in slime, ghosts soaring everywhere, and chocolate bunnies with glowing red eyes patrolling the grounds. "Yeah, I think we don't have anyway to stop Betrayus this time." Pac said with worry.

The Pac-Peep cried rivers of tears at seeing her island in such despair. "My beloved island! My chocolate bunnies! My life's work!" She cried. "Not to worry, Pac-Peep. We've dealt with your chocolate bunnies before, remember? All we gotta do is splatter them with your Easter Egg yolks and we'll set them straight." Spiral said. "If it were that easy. I tried that and whatever Betrayus did to them has made them immune to my Easter Egg yolks." Pac-Peep said. "Interesting. I ran a scan on the chocolate bunnies and it appears that they've been coated with a new and improved formula of Dr. Buttocks' Buttanium. And this new formula apparently makes the chocolate bunnies immune to the Pac-Peep's Easter Egg yolks." Sir C explained as he scanned the chocolate bunnies with his far-range scanner. "And if this new Buttanium formula is improved, I don't think an automatic meatloaf maker's laser drill will help this time, Sir C." Cyli said. "Then we gotta think of something that'll help us defeat these chocolate bunnies and stop Betrayus." Pac said.

Meanwhile, down on the island, Betrayus was enjoying his new life on his newly captured island. "Ah, this is more like it. Why take over Pac-World when I could take over Easter Egg Island first? This way, no one will be able to stop me from launching a sneak attack on Pac-World." He said. "Nothing except a watermelon ship filled with Pac-World's finest ghost-fighting team." Buttocks said. "How strangely accurate of you, Buttocks. What makes you say that anyway?" Betrayus asked. "Uh, maybe you should look for yourself." Buttocks said with worry. Betrayus looked up and gasped in horror when he saw the Watermelon Ship. "The Pac-Menace is here?! Why can't I get away from that ghost-gobbling monstrosity?! What is he, a franchise?!" He exclaimed angrily. "Perhaps it would be appropriate to blow that Watermelon Ship out of the sky?" Buttocks asked. "Yes! Blow that ship out of the sky before they get here!" Betrayus ordered. "You heard him! Fire the cannons!" Buttocks ordered.

"So, how do we get down to the island without being seen?" Spiral asked. "Uh, I don't think being seen is an issue anymore." Sir C said with worry. The ghosts had started firing their new cannons at the Watermelon Ship. "Incoming!" Sir C cried as he quickly steered the Watermelon Ship out of the way of the cannon fire. "We gotta find a way down there without getting caught in the line of fire!" Cyli exclaimed. "How do we do that?" Elli asked. "Oh! I have an idea!" Pac exclaimed. Suddenly, as the cannons attacked the Watermelon Ship, it exploded, seemingly completely destroying it. "Yes! We've done it! The Pac-Menace is gone!" Buttocks cheered. "Whoopee! At long last, my reign of evil shall begin!" Betrayus cheered.

Meanwhile, the Watermelon Ship, not having been destroyed, revealed itself as it landed on the far side of the island to keep hidden from Betrayus' forces. "Phew! Good thing the Watermelon Ship still had its Chameleon Berry-powered cloaking device." Sir C said. "Yeah. Otherwise, we would've been made into paste." Inky said. "Okay. Now that Betrayus thinks we're destroyed, how are we gonna find a way to restore Easter Egg Island?" Spiral asked. "Bwak! My throne!" Pac-Peep called, getting an idea. "Your throne?" Cyli asked in confusion. "Yes. My throne has the magical ability to give its power to anyone who sits upon it." Pac-Peep explained. That made the Pac-team confused. "I know, it's confusing, but it's the way things work here." Pac-Peep said in embarrassment. "Okay. So, where's your throne located?" Pac asked. "In my castle. There, inside Eggshell Mountain." Pac-Peep said, pointing towards the giant eggshell. "Then that's where we gotta go." Pac said. "Uh, how exactly are we gonna do that, smart guy?" Blinky asked. "Leave that to me." Spiral said.

A while later, Spiral painted everyone in Easter Egg designs. Now listen up, gang, this is a good style of stealth. I used it the last time we were here during our egg hunt." He explained. "Huh. I guess all that time being your parents' practice dummy paid off." Pac said, jokingly. "Funny, dude. But just remember, if you come across a ghost or a chocolate bunny, stay still and blend in with the other eggs." Spiral explained.

Meanwhile, Betrayus went right back to relaxing on the throne. "Ah, at long last. With the Pac-Pest gone, nobody can stop my plans for conquering Pac-World from my new secret base here on Easter Egg Island." He said. "Hmm. I'm not so sure about that." Buttocks said. "Oh, would you stop spoiling my fun, Buttocks?! The Pac-Man is finally gone! We've won!" Betrayus exclaimed in annoyance. "But, sir, need I remind you that the Pac-Man has always managed to sneak his way out of tighter messes before? There' always the off chance he could've survived." Buttocks said. "I SAID STOP SPOILING MY FUN! THE PAC-MENACE IS DEAD AND THAT! IS! THAT! UNDERSTAND?!" Betrayus exclaimed angrily. Buttocks could only gulp in nervousness, nodding in agreement. "Good." Betrayus said, going back to sitting down on the throne. "Still…" Buttocks whispered, heading off.

Meanwhile, Pac and his team adapted to their Easter camouflage to their advantage, blending in with their surroundings to avoid being seen by the ghosts and the chocolate bunnies. "Alright, guys, we're almost there." Spiral whispered. "And once we get there, it's ghost-chomping time." Pac whispered. But as they were about to continue, Spiral was blasted and knocked off his feet. Suddenly, Buttocks cackled as he and his ghost army appeared. "I figured you survived, Pac-Man. Lord Betrayus continues to underestimate you." He said. "So do you, Buttocks." Pac said, reaching for his berry dispenser. But he didn't feel it, surprising him. "Looking for something?" Buttocks asked. Pac looked up to see one of the Creepies hand his berry dispenser to Buttocks. "Hey, my berries!" He exclaimed. But the chocolate bunnies surrounded him and his team. "Not anymore. Now let's go." Buttocks threatened. The chocolate bunnies ushered the team as they followed Buttocks.

Later, as Betrayus took a sip from his drink, he saw Buttocks enter the throne room with the Pac Team. He spat out his drink in shock. "They're alive?! You were right for once?!" He asked in shock. "Yes, I was. I'm just not sure how you continue to underestimate your enemies whenever you assure yourself that victory is within your grasp, Lord Betrayus." Buttocks said. "Yes, yes, yes. I'll handle the lectures, thank you. But for now, let's see what matter of death I shall bestow upon our unwelcome visitors." Betrayus said as he floated around the Pac Team. "You're the unwelcome visitor, Betrayus. You took my island." Pac-Peep said. "Nah-ah-ah. It was your island. Now, it is mine." Betrayus said. "Say what you want now, Uncle Betrayus. But we will take this island back for the Pac-Peep." Ellie said. "Yeah. So, you might as well give it up while you're ahead." Blinky said. Betrayus just laughed at these empty threats. "You lot might talk tough, but now that I have the Pac-Pain's Power Berries, with the power of Easter Egg Island at my command, I have more than enough power to take over all of Pac-World once and for all." He said.

Suddenly, Buttocks screamed. "BUTTOCKS! WHY ARE YOU SCREAMING LIKE A LITTLE GIRL?!" Betrayus asked angrily. "This dispenser is filled with nothing but painted rocks!" Buttocks exclaimed, revealing that the dispenser was filled with rocks painted to look like Power Berries. "WHAT?! Then where are the real Power Berries?!" Betrayus exclaimed. "Looking for these?" Pac asked. Betrayus turned around to see him holding up an extra canister of Power Berries. He was so shocked, his eyes popped out of his sockets. Pac took out a berry that was designed like an Easter Egg. "I've been dying to test out this new Easter Berry. And since we're here, now's a good time." He said. He ate the berry and felt it powering him up. And then, he transformed into a legit Easter-themed Pac-Man with bunny ears, buckteeth, rabbit feet and a cottontail. "Easter Pac is ready to hop!" He exclaimed. "NO! STOP HIM!" Betrayus ordered. But Easter Pac bounced up like a bunny and started gobbling the ghosts. "Mmm-mmm-mmm! Now those are some tasty Easter ghosts." He said before belching out the eyeballs. "Pacster! Look out!" Spiral exclaimed. Pac turned around to see a horde of chocolate bunnies charging towards him. Just then, he fired Easter Eggs from his mouth. As the eggs hit the chocolate bunnies and broke open, the yolks freed them from Betrayus' control. "WHAT?!" Betrayus exclaimed in shock. "Whoa! Pac's yolks freed those chocolate bunnies from Betrayus' control!" Cyli said in surprise. "But how did his eggs work when the Pac-Peep's had no effect?" Inky asked in confusion. "It's the heart that Pac puts into his attacks. While I just lay Easter Eggs, Pac's variations are created through the heart of protecting those he cares about." Pac-Peep explained. "And it's that heart that's gonna save the day once again." Sir C said.

Pac continued to eat the ghosts and spit eggs at the chocolate bunnies. "NO! I will not lose another battle to that lemon menace! RELEASE THE GIGA BUNNIES!" Betrayus ordered. Suddenly, the giant chocolate bunnies started stomping their way towards Eggshell Mountain. "Uh-oh. I think this would be a good time for Paczilla or Pac-Kong right now!" Spiral said with worry. "But Pac didn't bring a Mega Berry or an Elder Berry." Cyli said. "Well then, how's Pac gonna beat them?" Clyde asked. "I don't." Pac said, winking at the Pac-Peep. Just then, he flew off. "No! Don't let him get away!" Betrayus exclaimed, leaving the throne and flying after him. Pac-Peep grinned, seeing her chance. Suddenly, the giant bunnies surrounded Pac. "Sorry, Pac-Man, but it looks like it's finally the end for you." Betrayus said. "You sure about that?" Pac asked. Suddenly, the giant bunnies snapped out of their evil trance and turned towards Betrayus. "Hey! What're you doing?! You're supposed to attack the Pac-Brat! He's right there!" Betrayus exclaimed. "They don't take orders from you anymore, Betrayus." Pac-Peep said. Betrayus turned around to see that she had retaken the throne. "That's right, Betrayus. I've taken back my throne. And that means you no longer control Easter Egg Island." Pac-Peep said. "NO! I fell for the oldest trick in the book!" Betrayus cried. "And now you will pay for this treachery!" Pac-Peep exclaimed. One of the giant chocolate bunnies grabbed him. "No! Let me go! I am your supreme ruler!" Betrayus exclaimed. "Not anymore." Pac said. The giant bunny threw Betrayus off the island, screaming into the distance. "Retreat!" Buttocks cried as he and the remaining ghosts flew after their leader.

Afterwards, the Pac-Team gathered in the Pac-Peep's throne room. "Pac-Man, and his loyal friends, I cannot thank you enough for what you have done for me. You've not only helped me remember how happy I make the children on Easter, but now you've also helped me take back my island from that slimy airhead of a ghost." Pac-Peep said. "It was our pleasure, Pac-Peep." Cyli said. "Yeah. We're always happy to help out our friends whenever Betrayus is threatening the world or something." Spiral said. "Uh, if I may? Perhaps it is time we return to Pac-World and start our big Easter party?" Buttler asked. "Buttler's right. We better head back." Sir C said. "Of course. I think I've kept you long enough. But still if there's anything you need from me, just give me a yell." Pac-Peep said. "Well, there is one thing." Pac said.

Later, as they returned to Pac-World, they started the Easter party at the Round House. The Pac-Peep was helping President Spheros host the whole thing. Everyone there was dancing away at the music playing. Pac was stuffing his mouth with food at the buffet table. But then Ellie pulled him away to dance. And soon enough, while they danced, Pinky pulled him away from her to dance with Pac. And then, after pulling Pac away from each other, they both started arguing. But then, they saw that Pac had gone back to the buffet table. The 2 decided to shrug it off and continue dancing with each other. Buttler, being the new life of the party, danced to his heart's content with excitement. "Ah. Now this is the best Easter party ever." Pac said as he ate a whole cake.
