Adam, thanks for the original post :D

PJO not mine!

Bianca didn't know what everybody was going on about.

Disrespectful. Inelegant. Unnecessary.

Seriously, people were so homophobic.

Besides, she'd had her reasons to behave the way she had. And very valid ones at that.

It had all started three days ago.

Chiron sent out a quest, and in an unprecedented whim of maturity, he'd decided to choose older demigods.

It was all good for Bianca, she'd rather a twenty-something year-old group risk their lives than the prepubescent teens Chiron usually sacrificed.

Except that her foolish brother had volunteered to go.

And then had been brutally murdered by their old friend Dr Thorn.

A horrible business, really, specially because Bianca had to arrange his funeral. While she was aware she should've been rather adept to the task, she had never organised a funeral in her life. Nor did she particularly enjoy organising any kind of gathering.

Worst of all, being the only living relative of the deceased, it was up to her to say kind words in his name.

It wasn't that she couldn't come up with a nice eulogy, but did she really have to speak in front of everybody?

Why were there so many people to begin with? Nico had never been quite too popular, what did they want from seeing his corpse tidily dressed inside a coffin?

To be fair, Bianca reckoned she could've picked up a casket, from her angle, her dead brother looked like a sleeping vampire.

Perhaps people wanted to see him this way to make sure he was no longer a threat.

Whichever the case, Bianca had to stand in front of everybody, and deliver some words.

She looked to the side, where Zoë gave her a confident smile.

Bianca was grateful she'd been there the whole time. After eight years of dating, she still leaned on her for support in all of her hardships.

"Thank you all for coming," Bianca began. "It would have meant a lot to Nico to see how many people turned up to see him go. Although, to be fair, he didn't like people much, so perhaps…" She paused. "Anyway, as we all know, Nico was such a kind-hearted boy. His life wasn't easy, but he was as resilient as anybody can be, and always willing to lend a helping hand to those around him."

She paused again to see all these fake friends nod their heads approvingly.

She locked eyes with Will Solace, crying softly on the first bench.

"Will," she said. "You were the light in my brother's life. His soulmate, and partner in everything. Thank you for making these last few years the best in his life. Now, speaking of other halves…"

Bianca turned towards Zoë and extended her hand. Her girlfriend took it and squeezed it. Bianca pulled to bring Zoë closer to her. Then she knelt in front of Zoë.

"Will you marry me?"

There was a loud gasp from the people watching.

"What?" Zoë asked, her eyes wide as moons, and her left eyebrow raised so far it would be joining her hairline at any moment.

"It's a yes or no question, amore ." Bianca remained kneeling in front of her.

"Yes," Zoë said, waving her hand dismissively. "But now? Don't you think…?"

Bianca stood up. "He had it coming."

People had begun whispering by then, and giving them ugly glares.

Bianca got close to her brother's coffin, and quietly, for only him to listen she whispered: "Next time you call me arrogant in front of all my 5th grade classmates, you better remember I never forget anything, you little stronzo . Death won't spare you from your sins."

It's still a million degrees so I can't take shit seriously, sorry people :)
