Near the Sea Stacks…

Hiccup and Toothless were exploring with what free time they had without worrying about wild dragons or the outcasts.

They needed the time to relax and enjoy life a little before needing to prepare everyone once again for the upcoming battles to come. It was kind of ironic when you think about him… once a runt, menace, and useless thing of the village was now the trusted heir to the village with the most loyal dragons and dragon riders to help defend their home. Sometimes he felt like the entire world was on his shoulders instead of against him and he needed some time away from duties to recenter and think. A nice long flight was just what both he and his beloved Toothless needed.

But it was when Hiccup and Toothless were flying that the rider realized something that would lead to an invention that future generations would thank him for. For Hiccup landed, he noticed how tired and hungry his best friend was as he was bringing him some fish from the patches of his saddle, noticing how his dragon was panting.

"What's wrong, Bud? You're out of breath already?" Hiccup wondered as his poor dragon looked tired and hungry.

Toothless warbled as he wanted nothing but to eat fish. The young Viking chuckled as he unhooked a basket of haddock for his beloved dragon just for him to eat. Since it was a long trip and fishing and hunting may be too dangerous, Hiccup packed lunch for him and for Toothless, and getting the basket of fish unloaded for his dragons was proving to be challenging, especially one with a big appetite. But it could be extra strenuous on a dragon. Especially carrying someone on their back.

"Geez, Bud, let's get this harness off ya, so you can stretch." Hiccup grinned as he unhooked the basket harness for Toothless to no longer chafe and eat fish, "You know, sometimes I wonder if we could harry less when we go out."

Toothless then gave him a look 'never' to him.

Hiccup chuckled as he tossed a fish to gobble.

"Humans usually don't chow down on that many fish at once. We usually like to cook them and prep them for a meal." The young Viking hummed as Toothless gave him a look to call him a barbarian, which was kind of true in a sense.

As Toothless gobbled his food, Hiccup was helping himself to some snacks…

Wait…

That's it.

"Toothless, prepare for the tastiest, energy-giving, healthiest dragon snacks that the world will ever know."

Toothless gave the boy a strange look for his decree.

At the Haddock Home…

Hiccup was looking up fishes, meat, herbs, and other things dragons like as he was getting his cauldron ready, while Toothless was happy to be the taste tester.

You see, Hiccup wanted to make a portable snack so dragons could be tied over while flying and don't need to lug hauls of fish to eat.

So, everything was written down depending on Toothless's reaction.

Test batch # 1: Complete failure as Toothless spat them out and dragged his tongue on the ground.

Test batch # 2: No flavor as Toothless didn't seem to taste anything.

Test batch # 3: Too spicy, guzzled milk from a poor yak.

Test batch # 4: Too much dragon nip, made him hungrier.

Test batch # 5: Needs more herbs.

After a hundred tests, he did it, the perfect snack, and Toothless was truly happy.

"Great to see you loving these treats, Bud. These will make a lot of dragons happy and make trips easier. No more empty stomachs."

Hiccup then put the latest batter of his creation to simmer in the cauldron while he and Toothless went flying, to work off the extra munchies of his dragons.

But Hiccup should have stayed to keep an eye on his creation for while he and Toothless were out, the twins and Snotlout, by the allure of the smell of food entered the house.

"Woah, Hiccup's got something cooking in the cauldron. Smells good…" Ruffnut sniffed as the three riders and the dragons entered the empty house.

"Yeah, it even smells better than chicken or boar." Tuffnut swooned as they were drawn by what was cooking in the pot.

"Or chicken-boar!" The twins said at the same time while Barf and Belch were drooling.

"Don't care what's in there. Whatever it is… it's for Snotlout." Snotlout declared before Hookfang snorted at him, "And Hookfang."

The three troublemakers made their way to the cauldron and opened the lid to a wonder of delightful smells. Spoons were diving into the batter as they began to eat.

"Whatever this is, is the best thing I ever had." Tuffnut adored as Snotlout had an idea.

"I bet everyone in the village would pay a pretty penny for this…" Snotlout smirked as they all got mischievous looks.

At the cove…

Toothless managed to work off all those snacks while the two pals were relaxing in their favorite spot.

Hiccup felt proud of himself for creating a treat just for dragons.

"Bud, I think these will not only help you out but every dragon too. No more hunger while flying out and no more carrying heavy bags of fish." Hiccup sighed while Toothless was not so sure about sharing these tasty treats.

He wants them all to himself.

"Yep, I think every dragon rider would want these." Hiccup smiled at his creation.

Oh, how true it was.

He was surprised to see Astrid flying towards him in such a rush.

"Hiccup, we have a problem!" Astrid informed with worry on her face, "Half the people of Berk are sick."

Back at Berk…

Hiccup should have locked up that cauldron.

Snotlout and the Twins distributed his dragon snacks… to people and now everyone was sick.

"Sweet Thor's Bucket… What was in that food you were making…" Gobber groaned as his stomach grumbled.

"Gobber, people weren't supposed to ingest that batter. It wasn't for Vikings but dragons!" Hiccup informed, "They were dragon snacks."

Half the villagers wanted to barf while half wanted to wring Snotlout and the Twin's necks for this.

Gothi soon requested aid in figuring out what ingredients were used in the batter to counteract it.

"And you three will be helping them and help my son make a new batch of treats for the dragons!" Stoick ordered with anger, though noticing Thornado loving the treats.

"Yeah, I'll make sure everyone in the village knows that my Snappy Snacks are not for Vikings but dragons." Hiccup sighed as he couldn't believe half the village ate his batter.

"Snappy Snacks?" Astrid chuckled at the weird name.

"Well because they snap when dragons bite into them and I couldn't think of another name for them." Hiccup admitted.

"Ugh, do you think you could make some for Meatlug? They're her favorite." Fishleg requested, though sick himself from the treats.

"Sure Fishlegs, as long as you remember not to eat them yourself."

Yep, it seemed that everyone in the village would remember that.
