He stood on a precipice, overlooking a canyon with no bottom. His breathing echoed through the empty plane, his body shook with chills as the dead wind whipped through him on its way to a place of despair. He closed his eyes and concentrated, focusing on the pinprick of Light that shone on the other side of the void. The Light got smaller every time he came to the chasm, until it was just a speck. This frightened him, and he lept back from the cliff in a panic.

Hands came and shoved him forwards again, despite his protests and struggling. He cried out, but his throat offered no words, just gurgles and whining. He struggled harder, his fear growing. He could always talk in the empty room that housed the chasm. Always!

The hands were relentless, shoving him closer and closer to the edge. Once there, they stopped, and forced him to look at the ever-shrinking bit of Light on the other side. He was frightened! He opened his mouth again as the hands shoved him off the cliff towards the Light.

Riku! Help me!

As he plummeted to the depths of the chasm, his decent was halted as strong fingers clamped onto his wrist in a viselike grip.

"Congratulations. You lasted a whole ten seconds less than last time."

Relief cloaked his being as the cloaked teen hauled him back onto solid ground. He sighed greatfuly and pondered the other's words. He'd given in. Not only that but he'd done worse than the last time he'd stood at the edge! He pondered why exactly that was.

"I couldn't help it." he said, glad for the ability to actually speak in this realm, "I was scared. My light is fading, Riku!"

"And it'll keep fading, Sora." His brother said matter-of-factly. "You are literally clothed in Darkness. That Light." he gestured to the bean of brightness, "Will eventually go out. Unless you cross the chasm and stoke it."

"I don't have Glide. How am I supposed to cross that?!"

Riku chuckled and gestured with one hand.

It was as if the pit surrendered some of its bottomlessness. Darkness sprang up and twisted, writhing and shaping itself into a crawling, shadowy bridge that stretched across the chasm.

Sora's eyes widened, and he tried to step oin the bridge. Riku grabbed his wrist quickly, stopping his advance. "Easy. You can't cross that way. The Darkness won't hold you."

The silverette confidently walked the bridge, stopping in the middle "Not yet anyway." he commented before turning around and coming back to an astonished, open-mouthed Sora.

"Teach me."
