When he reached the little girl he kneeled.

"Hey." He approached her calmly.

She opened her eyes to see who was talking. Now that he got a closer look at her, he could see all the scars and dried blood. She definitely wasn't on the street when he first got here.

"Where are your parents?"

The little girl pointed behind her. Two destroyed buildings had piled on top of each other. Jason assessed the situation. Maybe there was room enough for her to get though, but not the adults? Maybe if I move the debris, they can get out? But that might destabilize the structure. I'll have to be careful.

He looked back at the little girl.

"Listen, I'm going to try and get your parents out. Stay here where it's safe, ok?"

The little girl nodded, tears streaming down her face. Jason really didn't want to leave her by herself, but there was nothing he could do.

He approached the destabilized foundation and began yelling. "IS ANYONE IN THERE? I'M HERE TO HELP!"

No sound came out of the crumbled building. Was the girl the only one who survived? He tried another section of the rubble. Still nothing. Then…

"WE'RE IN HERE!" Yelled a voice to his left. He jogged to where the voice came from and found himself at the largest part of the rubble. Probably where the two buildings met when they crashed.

"How many are you?!" Jason asked.

"Just three of us! Is my daughter safe?"

"Did she have a teddy bear?"

"Yes!"

"Then she's safe! But we need to focus on you guys right now!"

Jason investigated the debris. He saw the hole where the little girl must have escaped from. Too small for them to come out of. The debris was being held up in a triangular shape. If he lifted the left pillar out of the way of the right, the debris in front of them would make way, but only for a short while.

"Is anyone in there injured?" Jason yelled more then asked.

"No! The building just caved in on us!"

"Ok then, this is what's going to happen. When I count to three, all of you run towards my voice. Some light debris might hit you, but you should be alright!"

"Are you sure…"

Jason began pushing the pillar.

"One…" he grunted.

"Two…" The pillar creaked under all the pressure.

"THREE!" He used the last of his strength to push the pillar out of the way. The right pillar that was holding all the debris up fell. As it fell, all three victims hopped out of the hole they were in. The building collapsed behind them.

As they increased the distance between them and the destroyed building, a chain reaction began. It traveled all the way to the top of the destroyed edifice, and let one of the longer pillars fall to their right.

Jason looked where the pillar would hit the ground, and found the little girl standing in its path. Before he could react, the girl was whisked away by someone in ODM gear. The soldier didn't use his gear, surprisingly, rolling in to save her just in time. Right as the pillar fell, the soldier rolled back into a standing position, with the girl in his arms. He jogged towards Jason and the others with the girl.

As the little girl and her family reunited, Jason saw who saved him from the mistake of leaving the girl on her own. He was a little taller than Jason, had a bowl haircut, and an oval face. His uniform had a unicorn patch instead of a winged one.

"What are you doing? Your unauthorized rescue might have put all of these civilians in danger!" He chastised Jason. He then pulled on Jason's coat, looking at the symbol on the back. "Of course you're a part of the scouts." He let go of his hoodie, then properly gave his entire appearance a look. "Wait, where is your ODM gear? Your uniform?"

Before Jason could answer, the civilian he just saved asked a question of his own. "Are you a part of the military police? Could you explain what's happening? Me and my family were in our home, when all of sudden the buildings around us crashed."

Bowl cut looked back at the family, just as worried and confused as they were.

Pressurized air wizzed from the direction that the bowl cut came from. Another soldier approached the group. This member of the corps had short, curly, light brown hair. She had a round face, and like bowl cut, had unicorn imagery all over her uniform.

"MARLO! You can't go off on your own like that! Commander Nile ordered us to stay together." She looked at the situation. The family of four was huddled together. The father holding his daughter, and the mother helping her limping son. Someone was injured.

This is no time to be standing around!

Jason turned to bowl cut. "You get this family to safety, I'm going to try and find more people to help." Then he proceeded to run in the direction of the carnage.

"Hey! Wait!" Marlo yelled at him, but Jason didn't stop.

Jason heard the conversation as he ran. "Hitch! Get these people to safety! I'll follow the scout and send more people your way. Get reinforcements!" The girl yelled at Marlo to wait but he didn't listen either.

Quickly catching up to Jason, the two proceeded down the destroyed road.

"Are you sure you can trust me?" Jason asked.

"That doesn't matter. Saving these people takes priority." Marlo replied.

Jason liked his answer.
