Sasha was tired. She and the man from the garrison had been riding for almost two hours to reach Trost and inform everyone of the bad news. She gulped her water nervously. Being surrounded by many people didn't help her state of mind.
She couldn't even comprehend all that had happened before she was sent to Trost. The multiple explosions. The large scary titans. The blond haired boy's actions. Luckily, the garrison member took care of the explaining.
She kept drinking the water, until Jean asked her who the other three titan shifters were. She couldn't answer. Her commander grabbed his shoulder. "Jean. Relax." Erwin then looked to the garrison member. "What happened after their forms were revealed?"
"The scouts engaged the colossal and the armored titans in battle." The messenger clenched his fists and looked down. "But by the time we got there, it was too late."
He announced this next part. "All the titan's from the 104th escaped, kidnapping Eren Jaeger in the process."
A deafening silence enveloped their audience.
Erwin then bellowed. "EVERYONE GET READY TO LEAVE! We'll ride to Hange and the others on the wall. Use the lifts, and be prepared to take those with us as well. Eren is humanity's only chance at survival against the titan threat. MAKE HASTE!"
"YES SIR!" Everyone quickly began to prepare for departure. Even those from the military police got to work.
Jean approached Sasha. "I'm sorry I blew up at you, this is all just so unbelievable."
She shrugged, "It's ok. I couldn't believe it either, not until I saw it with my own eyes."
Sasha looked down at her hands, seeing her scars. She suddenly remembered what message she needed to deliver.
"Jean! I almost forgot! That boy that you know, the Captain's prisoner. He went after Reiner and the others." Both Levi and Erwin turned at the statement.
"What? Jason went after them?!" Jean yelled more then asked.
"Yeah! Even though he had run out of gas in his tank, he jumped off the wall and went after them! He ran really fast too."
Levi grabbed her shoulder. Sasha flinched at the touch.
"Tell us what happened. In detail."
"Well…" Sasha wiggled her body out of the Captain's hold. "Section Commander told him to stay still. I didn't see what he did atop the wall, most of us were on the other side of Wall Rose watching Eren fight the Armored titan. Then this huge explosion happened. I protected Armin, and we were the only ones awake. That boy jumped down and told Armin that he had to go after them."
Sasha looked at her audience nervously.
"Why did the boy go after them?" Erwin asked.
"He said…" Sasha had to remember his exact words. "He said, 'I have to follow Reiner. Gaia is with them.' When he ran… Sparks came out of him and he was faster than a horse."
Erwin's eyes were focused on her. "Are you sure that's what he said? Those exact words?"
Sasha unconsciously leaned back, "Yes. Armin made me memorize it before I left." She dwindled her fingers. Noticing her discomfort at the attention she was getting, Erwin dismissed her.
"You did a good job Sasha. You and Jean get ready to depart."
They both saluted their commander then followed his orders. Sasha was surprised he remembered her name.
Erwin watched the two walk away. Levi narrowed his eyes. "You know something?"
Erwin thought about the question. He began his answer with an explanation, "My father owned three books that were published before humanity fled to the walls. One of them discussed an ancient civilization whose religion consisted of multiple deities. Each deity represented an element or idea of some sort."
Levi sighed. He pointed at Pastor Nick in the cart. "I can barely handle the Order of the Wall. Why are you spouting all this stuff about religion?"
Erwin ignored his comments. "This religion believed that the earth under us was one goddess. According to the text, she was the mother of all things. Creating not only the earth, but her husband and children as well. Despite this, she had cruel and bloodthirsty tendencies."
He gave Levi a serious look. "This goddesses name… was Gaia."
