CHAPTER 174
Dr. Conner's was boxed in. He would've pulled ahead, but there was another corythosaurus directly in front of him, and another two were closing the rear. When he looked up again two more velociraptors had joined the first and were clinging to the corythosaurus just to the left of him. Bryce had the one pistol that Marcus had given him tucked into the back of his belt. As the first velociraptor leapt from the shoulders of the parasaurolophus over to the ribs of the corythosaurus he drew the weapon. He scarcely had time to aim before hitting a rut that caused the gun to fumble out of his grip.
"Damn!"
The velociraptor snarled and was ready to pounce, but the corythosaurus began to buck and broke away from Dr. Conners.
While all three of the velociraptors were holding onto the corythosaurus like it was a mechanical bull Bryce took the opportunity and slipped out of the box and ahead of the corythosaurus. The next time he looked back the velociraptors were already on the ground and pursuing him again.
"Christ!"
Bryce cut further to the right and zipped among the cover of three parasaurolophus to try and loose them, but the effort was futile. Cutting further over he got to the other side of the herbivores and suddenly had a huge pair of jaws shrieking at him. It was Falcon.
Dr. Conners cut back the other way, but the trio of velociraptors was already there. Hitting the throttle he tried to speed ahead, but his bike suddenly stopped, and he kept going. Unbeknown to him his front tire had become lodged in a pile of dinosaur dung, and he was launched from his seat.
Bryce hurled through space and pitched into the grass. Then everything became dark.
