CHAPTER 185
Gary turned his body and felt pain. He opened his eyes and looked. The first thing he saw was the Jeep's glove box. Gary was crumpled partially on the lower portion of the passenger seat, but most of him was on the floor of the CJ7. Raising a hand he grabbed for the first thing he could prop himself up on. He did it without looking.
His palm rested on something bumpy. He paused and then ran his fingers through the crevices. Gary's heart jumped as his brain made the connection. They were scales. Pulling his hand away he snapped his head around to look.
The young rexe's body was slumped over the front seats, and its head was resting over the hood where the windshield used to be. At the sight of the tyrannosaur Gary tumbled out of the side of the Jeep and wobbled to his feet.
"Damn." He held his cranium with both hands like he was trying to keep his head from spinning. Further examining the young rex he saw that Laser's eyes were closed and she was still breathing. She was unconscious now, but he didn't want to be around when she woke up. He had to find Bill and get out of there.
Before he could locate him Gary heard a noise to his right. When he looked he saw Jigsaw. The juvenile rex was about thirty feet away and stumbling in a circle like she was drunk. Her crooked mouth was hanging slack, and she kept shaking her head.
"Shit." Gary figured it might not be long before Jigsaw regained her bearings. He had to find Bill.
Tripping around the Jeep Gary located him laying face down in the pool next to the spring that was trickling off the cliff face. "Oh shit!" Gary ran over and sloshed into the pool. Grabbing Bill by the shirt he pulled him up. Bill immediately gurgled and coughed water straight into Gary's face.
Gary was so startled by it that he dropped Bill back into the water.
"What the hell!" Bill gaged as he sprang back to the surface. He sat up and slumped against the side of a boulder, only he realized very quickly that it wasn't a boulder. It was Flashe's thigh.
"Jesus Christ." Bill jumped up.
Now that Gary had wiped the spit water out of his eyes he was pulling Bill out of the pool. "Come on, man. We've gotta go."
"What the hell else is new?"
