CHAPTER 210
Kyra buried her heels into the dirt and pulled Seth with all her strength. The dilophosaurus had its fore talons gripped around his sneakers and its teeth dug into his right thigh. As Kyra put up quite a fight the dilophosaurus let go with its mouth and shrieked. With a raspy howl its frill sprang open again, and the scalloped edges rattled. Kyra let go of Seth and ducked over, balling her face in her arms as she hit the ground. With a guttural heave the dilophosaurus hacked another venomous blob at Kyra, though it shot over her back and missed her entirely.
When she looked up the dilophosaurus was dragging Seth's limp body away toward the machinery. Jumping to her feet she ran after him and grabbed his trailing arms. Once again Kyra was locked in a tug-of-war with the dilophosaurus. The crested dinosaur growled and shrieked at her. Its frill, though not deployed, was a drape of rattling fury around its neck, and its tail whipped back and forth. Each time it took a step back the dilophosaurus anchored its hind talons in the soil, dragging Seth little by little, further into the graveyard of heavy equipment.
From the fence there was a roar, and both Kyra and the dilophosaurus ceased there competition and looked to see what was approaching. With a cacophony of shifting metal and twisting wires the allosaurus wedged its way through the hole it had made in the perimeter fence. With a growl it narrowed its eyes at the dilophosaurus and barked. Though the allosaurus was a bit far off the dilophosaurus felt that this new contender was a far more dangerous opponent not worth the effort of battling. With a feeble shriek the venomous dinosaur let go of Seth and ran away.
