Honestly I don't like these next couple chapters. It's only because the ones I've written this week are a lot more exciting, comforting and revealing, so please bare with me while we get through these more boring pieces. I shortened this one, but only becasue I plan to post Thanksgiving dinner in the middle of the week instead of Sunday!

Boxessssss-Ummmmm okay let me first start out by saying...YOU LITERALLY MADE ME CRY. I was honestly sobbing at the kindness of this comment! I actually read it to my coworker and together we both freaked out! This was honestly too much and too kind for just this little old fanfic! I do have to apologize for the earlier chapters. I have gone back and read them throughout the last year and noticed all the mistakes, but I can't change them without compromising the reviews, so I just leave them, but they bother me too lol. Honestly as I write this I just don't have the words to thank you enough. Not being good enough is always a fear of mine and putting out this story eats at me with every chapter I post, "is it good enough?" "Is it believable?" "Will anyone like it?" With just a simple paragraph you have left me speechless. I honestly have no words to write. As someone who has received over 100 rejection letters from Query Agents, you have given me peace and I can't thank you enough! I dedicate this chapter to you and hope that you enjoy it, it's short and a bit boring compared to what's coming, but I still couldn't have posted or wrote it without you. Thank you for making my week and thank you for taking the time to do it! Honestly, you made me feel really Special and it was too kind!

QueenSherica14- HELLO! I'm trying my best to keep to a schedule! For some reason I woke up last month and decided that it was time to vastly improve my writing if I hope to have a career in it one day, and honestly you guys deserve more frequent posts! I have to admit I'm really enjoying writing all these comfort chapters, i kinda just figured it's time for Mare to open up and find that she can in fact have love, it's also important for upcoming chapters ;) You've hit the nail on the head with Tandy's thinking and hopefully she'll back off more and things can settle...spoilers she doesn't :0 Anyway, thank you soooo much for taking the time to read and leave a review, it honestly means the absolute world to me and I can't thank you enough for always being so kind!

I'm so glad the last chapter could make you smile, it honestly made me smile :D I really like writing hurt/comfort so that's always kinda my go to, i think I do it without even realizing it these days. I just love cute Carlisle and Esme moments. I have to say I think you know this story better than I do, you are always correctly guessing things that aren't even suppose to come until later chapter and it amazes me! "Wake up." A deep voice demands, but it's only when a large hand lands on my blanket covered knee and shakes me that I open my eyes,
"What?" I reach up rubbing the fuzziness from my eyes. When everything clears it's Edward sitting in front of me. "Why are you in here?"
"You're sleeping a lot lately."
"Okay Carlisle," I roll my eyes sarcastically. "Why are you in here while I'm sleeping?"
"It's almost 8. Esme wants you to eat breakfast so you can watch the parade." I groan, I'm still tired,
"I don't know why I'm so tired." Edward reaches forward to touch my forehead and I sluggishly bat him away,
"I'm not sick," I stress scooting back to press my back against the headboard. I don't feel sick, just tired. I look around, I'm pretty sure I didn't fall asleep in this bed last night.
"You fell asleep on the couch, Carlisle carried you up here." That's right, we were watching The Mummy.
"Did you have fun last night?" Edward, along with Alice and Jasper went hunting with the Denali, they came back in the middle of the movie. Edward smirks,
"It was fine." I reach forward grabbing the soft throw blanket I took with me last night,
"Can I ask you a question?" Edward nods, "Are you and Tanya a thing...have you ever been?" I think back to the book. Twilight is about a human girl, Bella, who falls in love with a vampire Edward. I don't remember the Denali's in Twilight, but then again I only got through the first 100 pages in the first book, theres three more I haven't read, but what if this is a different universe? I don't feel like I can rule that out, I myself am from a different universe. One where Twilight is just a work of fiction.
"Tanya's a special friend, but that's it." I raise an eyebrow,
"Just a friend?" He nods his head,
"Have you ever had anything but friends?" Edward raises an eyebrow,
"What is with the questions."
"Well, if I do remember correctly, Esme told you, you're not allowed in my room unless I invite you and the last time I checked the law, you can't give your consent while unconscious." When he doesn't say anything I keep going, "Then again, watching humans sleep is kinda your MO I think." I swear Matt complained about Edward watching Bella sleep without her knowing once. Edward rolls his eyes,
"Mare, stop," I smirk,
"Have you ever had a girlfriend?" Edward sighs,
"No."
"So are you a virg-"
"Alright, I'm leaving. Esme made pancakes, go down...go down now please." He stammers quickly disappearing behind our connected doors. I smirk and stretch before sliding out of bed and disappearing into the closet.
…
"Would you like seconds?" Esme asks grabbing the pancake batter she's left on the counter. I take another sip of milk before shaking my head,
"I'm good," She smiles, placing a silicone cap on the pancake glass and turns to put it into the fridge. The kitchen smells wonderful, like rosemary and thyme, apparently, Esme's been cooking since 5 this morning. It's times like this when I'm thankful she doesn't sleep, if she needed to I would feel worse than I already do, having her cook food she can't eat.
They can afford this
They want to do it
It's okay to feel the way I do
Learning to accept these things takes time
I repeat these words in my head, maybe someday I'll believe them.
"Did you sleep well?" Tanya comes up behind me. Where did she come from?
"Really good actually." It's true, my sleep last night was amazing...as odd as it sounds, I don't feel like I've ever slept better, the house was warm, my bed was comfortable, and the atmosphere was safe.
"Sometimes I forget what sleep feels like?" Kate sighs coming to rest her elbows on the table, these are the first words she's said to me since her hello, two-days ago.
"I remember sleep." Emmett slides into the kitchen jumping at the last second to land on the counter, "I hated it, you have to stop what you're doing just so you can sleep so you don't die. Waste of time if you ask me." Emmett would think this.
"I don't remember it that way," Irina argues. Emmett frowns at her,
"Let me guess you remember it beautifully, servants tucking you into bed and everything," Irina grabs my napkin and quickly crumples it up before throwing it at Emmett's head,
"I never had servants." Emmett dodges it easily, "I was a peasant."
"I had servants," Tanya says matter of factly,
"I was a servant," Kate adds and my confusion grows.
"Aren't you sisters?" I ask looking between the three of them, Irina doesn't meet my eyes, but Kate and Tanya do.
"We are," Kate smiles, it's the first real smile she's given me, "Just not by blood." I look between the three of them, their features are similar...they look like they share DNA. Tanya smiles,
"I was changed first, then Kate, and lastly Irina." I know I probably shouldn't ask but I do,
"How did you die?" Tanya almost laughs,
"My changing wasn't a last resort," she smiles. She opens her mouth to go on when Alice and Jasper enter the kitchen,
"Morning." Alice smiles floating in, leaving Jasper behind. Esme turns looking at all the extra bodies and sighs,
"Move it to the living room, I have prep to do, " Emmett wrinkles his nose and hops off the counter,
"Don't have to tell me twice, I don't know how you eat this Mare, it stinks."
"You drink blood." I frown, "That's disgusting."
"Wrong." He crosses the kitchen, grabbing the bar stool I'm sitting on to turn me to face him, "It's delicious, thick and warm pouring down your throat." I gag pushing him away to get to my feet,
"Emmett!" Esme scolds, she turns to me, eyes softening "Have Emmett turn on the parade." I smile and quickly exit out of the kitchen, Kate behind me,
"Edward says you play chess." I stop and turn towards her. I don't want to be rude, but I also can't figure out why she's taking an interest in me now.
"Not well," I admit, but she smiles at this anyway,
"I'm not good either," She brushes past me to the living room. "Play a game with me." It's not even a question and slowly I find myself following her to the chessboard. She sits down turning the board around, the white pieces facing me. I hate playing white, they always go first and everyone knows it. That's why the board is the way it is. Carefully I sit, studying the board before moving a pawn, Kate takes her turn immediately.
"You can ask your question." Kate's lips turn into a sly smile. I look up at her before turning back down to the chessboard.
"Sorry?"
"I can tell you have questions, go ahead. Ask." I swallow, moving another pawn.
"Careful," Rose warns Kate entering the living room and sitting down, Emmett right next to her, grabbing the remote and turning it on just in time for the Garfield balloon to float down main street.
"You were a servant?"
"I wasn't so much a servant as I was more of what is referred to today as a bodyguard." She makes another quick move this time with her knight,
"A bodyguard?"
"A damn good one too," Tanya says entering the living room. "Almost killed me." She smiles down at Kate before plopping down next to Rose on the couch.
"My job was to protect one of the highborn ladies of our tribe, when Tanya and Mother attacked, I did what I was trained to do and fought with my life, and that paid off."
"Mother?" I look between the two of them,
"Our maker." I turn to Edward just as he walks into the living room,
"How come you don't call Carlisle father?" Edward makes a face,
"Emmett called Carlisle daddy once!" Alice chips in jumping out from behind Edward. She practically twirls and sits down next to Tanya, "I think we should order a sectional" She adds. I turn to Emmett who refuses to meet my eyes. They're too focused on the Sesame Street float...is that Rick Astley singing on it?
"Did that not go well for you." Emmett shakes his head,
"Not at all." I hold back the chuckle turning to Kate,
"So you were turned by Tanya and your mother...what about?"
"Me?" Irina asks crossing her arms and leaning her shoulder against the door frame. I swallow, why is she so intimidating?!
"I still wonder why we turned Irina?" Kate quips, a smile on her face. Irina turns her face, trying to hide her smile behind her short blonde hair.
"I think mother wanted three daughters," Tanya adds,
"I was her favorite." Irina turns, a smile looks pretty on her. She frowns when she notices me staring.
"She only said that to make you feel better." I look at Tanya remembering the conversation we had only two days ago. She mentioned her mother, and how she lost her and missed her. I wonder what happened, part of me wants to ask, but I keep my mouth shut. She would have told me if she wanted me to know.
"My job was to keep one of our highborn ladies safe during transport. Everything was going smooth and next thing you know we're being attacked by two women with red eyes, I fought with everything in me but..in the end, it was a failing mission, but good things came in the end." She moves her other knight and turns to smile at Tanya. I study both of them before turning to the board,
"You don't mind being a vampire." Kate turns back towards me, but I keep my eyes on the board.
"It's not a lifestyle many would choose for themselves, but I don't mind it." I pick up my rook and move him up the board.
"You'll find that we like this way of life," Tanya says carefully. Her hand finds Rose's and gives it a quick squeeze before letting go.
"It also has its upsides." Kate's lips turn up in a slick smile, as she moves her bishop without even looking at the board,
"Like what?" I reach to move a pawn in front of my Queen,
"Don't even think about it Kate, she's human." Edward says stepping into the living room, arms crossed.
"I would never do that." She defends. He frowns,
"You thought it." She smiles at him,
"Well, that's just not fair."
"Kate," Tanya warns, and Kate drops her smile. I look between everyone, but no one speaks for a second,
"Fine," Emmett sighs and gets to his feet. He stops in front of the chess board and holds his hand out to Kate,
"What are you-" Before I can finish Kate grabs his hand, light passes from hers to his and Emmett drops to his feet, his teeth clenching hard until Kate lets go. I jump to my feet so quickly that the chessboard catches on my knees and crashes to the floor,
"Emmett-"
"I'm okay." He breathes out holding one hand up, the other clutching his chest,
"You know I hate when you do that." Rosalie hisses at Kate. She shrugs,
"He volunteered." She quips and Rose just looks away. I grab Emmett's wrist,
"Are you okay?" He shakes his hand out of my grip and instead grabs my elbow and pulls me closer to him,
"I'm good." He gets to his feet letting go of my arm, his elbow coming around my neck to gently pull me into his side "Can't keep me down long, right?" I throw his arm off and push him away,
"Right,"
"It's called psychic electrokinesis" Kate explains
"It means really, really painful electric shots when she touches you." Emmett groans shaking the pain away in his hand
"You're gifted like Edward or Alice?" She nods, she's looking hard at both Emmett and me. After a second she nods
"Yes"
"Are you the only one?" I ask turning to Irina. I know the least about her and I don't think she likes me, but I still ask the question in her direction, she just crosses her arms again,
"Eleazar gifted." Kate grabs my attention again and I am relieved I haven't seen either Carmen or Eleazar today. I turn to the TV, the Hello Kitty balloon comes down the street.
"What can he do?"
"He finds other people who are gifted" Tanya answers. Is that why he was staring at me last night? I sigh and reach down to pick up the chess board, to my surprise Kate grabs a few pieces and holds them out to me. I smile at her and grab them placing everything carefully back in the wooden box that the game board sits on top.
"You're a very interesting person Marceline. You're not from here, but the family really seems to enjoy having you around, you're human, but you don't smell, you're a child, but you're not unpleasant to speak to. I'm surprised by you." Kate says, studying me up and down as she speaks,
"Umm thank you...your not bad to be around either." Kate rolls her eyes and chuckles at this,
"Irina," She looks behind me, "when you're done sulking come and sit down." I don't turn to look, but I hear footsteps leave and start into the kitchen, Kate turns towards me, "She'll warm up to you." I open my mouth but something she said hits me,
"Can you not smell me either?" She looks at Tanya before shaking her head,
"If I couldn't hear your heartbeat, I would think you were one of us." I sigh and sit back down."Have you told them?" Kate speaks but when I look up, it's not me, she's speaking too, it's Edward.
"Not now." Edward's voice is harsh,
"You'll have to tell them." Alice jumps to her feet,
"Kate I have something to show you upstairs." Kate humors Alice and turns towards her with a smile,
"Lead the way." Alice smiles at me before leading Kate upstairs, Jasper smiles at me too before following the two,
"Tanya, kitchen, Emmett stay here." Rose stands, tone harsh,
"What?" Emmett asks looking away from the parade, but Rose and Tanya are already leaving, with just Edward, Emmett, and I left. I turn to the only one who's not enamored with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade,
"Tell who?" Edward steps towards the couch and holds his hand out,
"Watch the parade with us?" I stare at him a second before sighing,
"Will you ever tell me?" He frowns and nods,
"...Soon."
