Youko's Thoughts: ^ "Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please", stated by Mark Twain. ^
Kurama speaking to Youko in his head/his own thoughts: *Once, a German poet said; "A hero is one who knows how to hang on one minute longer." *
Inner thoughts of other characters: 'Quoting a quote.'
PLEASE REVIEW, IT HELPS! No flames needed, but you're welcomed to try, just give me a moment to get the marshmallows! ^-^
A Few Inventions from the Spirit Lab! (Really my creations…-cue evil laugh-)
Articulation gum: The user gains the ability to speak any language temporally if it is carved into the gum itself and spelled properly. This gum requires a bit of spirit energy. Over time it is possible to gain the ability semi-permanently. The downside is a horrible lingering bitter taste and must be swallowed at exactly the right time otherwise one will speak the language backward. (The same thing will happen if it is spelled incorrectly)
Sprit Box Tracer: A special device that can locate any soul so long as a fragment of the soul itself is available, DNA also counts as a fragment. Able to produce images of a soul's shell. (current or final appearance, unless in limbo)
Healing Seeds: An exclusive Kurama invention and can only be powered by him! Light tan, tiny bean size seeds that heal minor demon injuries while for human injuries it heals drastically. However, overuse can render them useless. Kurama must apply a bit of his healing power for them to work. Side effects may include the taste of dirt, dizziness, confusion, and tiredness.
Demon Healing Seeds: Another exclusive Kurama powered invention item! Coffee bean-like in appearance and color these seeds pack a punch for healing. Made consistently of demon hybrid plants and requires larger amounts of Kurama's healing power to function properly. Side effects may include stinging in areas of healing, and apparently in humans weakens their sense over their emotions (Similar to the effects of drinking alcohol).
Healing Paste: Another one of Kurama's inventions, has the same consistency of Aloe Vera, slime, or green hair gel, but is a duller shade of lime green. This product uses a combination of human and demon world plants and minimal spirit energy. Depending on one's pain tolerance, endurance, and species stinging may range from mild to severe (Typically for humans the pain will be excruciating). This product can be used by anyone who has spirit energy.
To keep in mind (Non-spirit lab-related):
The Anrokku-Isei of pain [ An-roku-Is-hi] (Unlock the power of pain): An evil, rare, powerful, tiny red seed. Used by the demon enemy Aiden against Aisha. The seed forces any dormant abilities to awaken but also awakens the ugliest of irrational emotions. Pain, fear, hate, and anger only allow its host's mental destruction to grow at a faster rate. Side effects vary species to species however include weakness, dizziness, headaches, confusion, vomiting, internal bleeding, burns, consistent bleeding, permanent psychological damage, and death.
Chapter 13: Pain, Explain and Rain Part II
(DAY ONE)
Third Person POV:
After he finishes up showering and wound patching, he enters the living room to call Botan and update her on his progress.
"Hello Kurama! It's so good to hear from you. I have seen such beautiful structures in this human world! What about you? How is your mission going so far?" Botan's cheerful face lights up the screen.
"I'm glad to see you too, Botan. I have yet to discover new breathtaking locations myself. Instead, many things have occurred since you last saw me this morning."
Kurama goes on to fill in Botan on how he met Aisha by chance again, Koenma's document mix-up, and defeating the shape-shifting demon.
"The good news is that I located Miss Aisha but -unfortunately, she was attacked and has sustained some serious injuries. I was able to tend to her wounds with my healing seeds, and she is sleeping now. Is there any chance you can come to clean her up and change her? The poor thing is covered in blood and I only managed to wipe her down a little bit." Kurama questions the blue-haired reaper.
"I'm very happy to hear that you saved her. That is very considerate of you to ask me and as much as I would love to help you Kurama, I'm on the other side of the world in Egypt. Portals have been popping up here and causing massive sandstorms-" A low rumbling drowns Botan's voice and she yells; "I'll have to call you back Kurama, another portal is opening up!"
Quickly, the redhead shouts;"Be careful Botan!"
The grim reaper smiles, "I got this! And as soon as I'm done, I'll be joining you guys!"and her screen goes black instantly.
Youko suddenly states; ^She has her hands awfully full. Who knows when she'll be able to assist you? ^
*Yes, I know…* Shuichi quietly mumbles in his head. *But Botan is most capable of getting what needs to be done, completed. I, on the other hand, have been struggling...* Feelings of guilt arise in the redheaded male.
^If we didn't show up when we did, she would have perished. ^
* I don't wish to be reminded of our near failure, Youko. Though I am a bit surprised you care this much. *
^ What can I say, these human tendencies have rubbed off on me...^
*Mother has made you kinder, Youko. * Shuichi smiles slightly, recalling how Youko first began to realize not all humans are as weak as they seem. Though with Miss Aisha he still cannot understand what exactly he sees in her.
^ I suppose you are right about that little Shuichi. ^
Kurama stands up from the couch and stares at Aisha's cellphone. It lights up again, and his face stares back, smiling. The redhead cringes, feeling out of sorts about the photo. He picks up the device and walks back into the bedroom, seating himself to face the sleeping Aisha. He fumbles with the device for a few moments and easily cracks the password code.
*I know it's an improper invasion of privacy but...* Kurama opens the Gallery app anyway and there are photographs of not only his human form but of Youko Kurama, Yusuke, Hiei, Kuwabara, Botan and even Koenma. In fact, Aisha also has files of their personal group pictures.
^How did she obtain these things if we are all from a different realm? ^
*I have a feeling her explanation will be very abnormal …*
^If she chooses to sham ignorance, perversion will dispel-^
*Shh, she's waking up. * Shuichi states as he lifts his head up from the small screen-rustling sounds indicate movement in the bed in front of him.
Aisha's POV:
Slowly, my mind flutters awake, unsure if I'm alive or not. My vision is a bit blurry, but from what I can make out, I'm in a white bedroom, lying in a soft bed. I am seriously praying I'm not tied up, only to be waiting for more torment. Glancing to my right I notice a blur of someone's face and red hair. I start to panic and sit up quickly, scrambling to get my vision to clear up.
"I'm losing my mind..." I say as I realize it's Kurama; I even go as far to poke the guy in the arm, to make sure he's real and not trying to torture me (I don't feel any binds, so I think I'm good).
'Wow he has some major muscle…'
I then wince as pain shoots through from my right shoulder. Clenching my eyelids shut- I grind my teeth and bite down on my lip barely able to hold in a whimper.
"You still need more healing, but I also don't think your body can tolerate any more of my healing seeds…"
"So, I'm not dreaming right now…?" I say in a quiet tone of voice, fearful of his answer.
"I'm afraid not, I don't suppose you've forgotten what has happened?"
For a split second his eyes reflect a sense of sadness within them.
'Why is he sad? He saved me…twice. From that car and that evil demon...then again, he also threatened my life. Maybe it's a trick...? Damn it...this has to be some messed up dream then...'
"Then that guy...he's really dead..." I say not wanting to believe myself.
"Who… are you talking about, Miss Aisha?"
"That house- the bathroom- there was a body...a guy from my school, he- was ripped to shreds..." I choke out and tears start to stream down my face as I realize the hell he went through, and if Kurama didn't step in when he did; I would have been found just like that boy, tormented to death.
"Miss Aisha? Are you alright?"
"Aisha..?"
For a moment, I try to make sense of everything, only to have poisonous anger spill forth.
"Of course, I'm not alright! So, are you waiting to kill me too? Okay then what the fuck are you waiting for?!" As if someone just tried to toss a bucket of hot oil at me, I jump off the bed and back away from him- feebly covering my face, trying to shield myself from him.
My body screeches at me in accursed pain, and the memory of the terror I went through plays on repeat. My head's spinning, my body's agonizing, and my heart's crying out for someone to save me, but I know I'm alone and no one will do that because this isn't a dream, it's reality. My trembling jelly legs give out from under me and I crumble to the ground. The next thing I know, through my pathetic teary eyes, a red hair blur is kneeling next to me and hugs me tightly. I gasp in astonishment, unsure how to react, and just kneel there like a deer frozen by the headlights of a car.
"Miss Aisha, I never meant for you to get hurt…and if I had wanted to heed you harm, I would have never gone through the effort of saving you in the first place. I am sorry I did not arrive sooner, had I been quicker you wouldn't be suffering so..."
The odd tingling sensation buzzes throughout my body but gently, he lets go of me and stares into my eyes. For a split second, he looks surprised and I notice that his orbs aren't the lifeless, malevolent eyes I had gotten used to; they are the authentic thing, bright, reassuring, and holding hidden wisdom beyond human years.
"The reason I threatened you earlier was that I thought you were an enemy demon. If I had known the truth beforehand all of this would have been prevented. I am truly sorry for what I have caused." Kurama says in a soft, calm tone of voice...
"I-it's okay! Mistakes happen all the time, so don't worry about it!" I pretend to smile and gaze down at the white carpet (he's too much to look at, way too handsome for his own good).
'That was one huge mistake- almost cost my life, though he did save me...and he appears remorseful…There's also the fact that he didn't have to rescue my sorry ass…'
"Miss Aisha, it isn't alright, please allow me to make it up to you..." He trails off, and I notice his eyes wander downwards. Quickly, it clicks in my head that my clothes are utterly failin' at doing their job-my bra and cleavage are exposed, my red leggings and bubble skirt are torn to bits, exposing my normally hidden legs. I'm the type to cover my entire body (mostly because I'm insecure with how I look).
"KAHHHHHH!" I shriek in a stupid girly manner and seize the soft lime-blue blanket off the floor- I attempt to shield myself and crawl back into the wall.
Right now, I feel faint, embarrassed, and exposed. My shoulder is SO not supporting my emotional state either. Daring myself to gaze up through my embarrassment, Kurama is standing in front of me his head turned away from me. A sapphire-blue towel, an avocado-green t-shirt, and a pair of charcoal-black sweatpants folded neatly are being held out to me.
"Here, the restroom is down the hall to the left." His voice doesn't sound a bit nervous, but his cheeks and ears are slightly pink, but it is SO faint I have to blink a couple of times to be sure. Realizing my eyes aren't playing mind games, my face only grows hotter.
'Man, even his mask of emotionlessness has a crack or two…'
"T-thank you." I utter clutching the towel and clothes to my chest as I exit the simple bedroom.
After excruciatingly scrubbing my grimy wounded body, I'm as clean as a whistle and smelling of soap. Oddly enough the bathroom faintly carries the aroma of roses and guy cologne, not sure if I'm really surprised by that though. Either way, I freaking love the smell! I even have a bar of Asian rose soap at home!
I raid his mouth wash since I puked a few times. I also taste blood in my dry mouth.
'Is it safe to drink mouth-wash?'
Touching my cut lip, I recall that monster kissing me. My eyes fill up with tears, but I move my thoughts to dressing myself.
Exhausted and struggling I manage to throw on the sweatpants and gradually wrap the moist towel around myself. My bra is useless considering its drenched in my blood, and the strap broke from being stabbed. Glaring at it, I toss it into the trash. I glance into the foggy mirror and spotting my torn shoulder, I vaguely wonder if I was in a horror movie a couple of hours ago; if it didn't hurt so insanely, I would've passed it off as film make-up.
Peeking from the bathroom door, I call the fox boy from down the hall. Before I had entered the shower, he stated that I would need another healing session.
"Are you ready, Miss Aisha?" He questions in a gentle tone as if to not startle me, and I don't blame him…my brown orbs still appear demented when I looked in the mirror a minute ago.
"For the most part, yeah...can we get this over with?"
"Alright, I apologize for my intrusion. I'll be coming in then." Entering the restroom, the redhead pulls out a stool for me to sit on.
"What is that?" I say and point to a jar of green goop. "Is that Aloe Vera, slime, or green hair gel?"
He chuckles and then replies; "It's a healing paste I created using a combination of human and demon world plants. Its remedial properties work fairly well, but the only problem is that it will sting a bit."
"Let's just get this over with." I say, suddenly aware of how raw my throat feels from screaming. The second the goop glides onto my shoulder, I grit my teeth. He applies it a bit deeper and tears are once again pooling in my eyes. If he thinks this stings a little, jeez he's wrong! As his fingertips graze my shoulder, once again the strange tingling washes over my entire being.
'Why does this happen every time he touches me…?'
Purposely removing my body from the burning sensation in my shoulder, self-consciousness bubbles up within me. Here I am with my favorite anime character crush, in his bathroom, half exposed in a towel and his clothing, getting my messed-up shoulder mended with healing paste and spirit energy. What a crazy thing to write down in my journal tonight, but nothing compared to my entire day.
*•̩̩͙•̩̩͙**·̩̩̥͙˚*•̩̩͙•̩̩͙**·̩̩̥͙
Brushing aside the strange feeling, and focusing on my shoulder, the agony dims down to a dull roar.
"It's amazing how much less it hurts, how did you come up with this gel?" I question him.
"It was an experimental product that went through its process of trials and errors, but its end result was well worth attempting."
'Huh, the scientific theory at its best.'
"That just proves you're not any regular teenager."
"I suppose you have a point."
"Of course, I do, I mean the way you talk and there's also your mannerism ...it's not very 'teen-like'."
He doesn't respond to my comment (maybe I struck a nerve?) and after he completely applies the goop and wraps up my shoulder, he rinses his hands clean.
"That should do it, for now, just take it easy and try not to move around too much or it will agitate the wound, okay?" He states smoothly. I nod, and he swiftly exits the bathroom, shutting the door behind him. For a split second, I swear he is blushing again through that 'poker-face' he has.
If it weren't for the throbbing, I would be beyond nervous, and unable to look at his handiwork from the mirror. After cautiously putting the t-shirt on I stride down the hall (thank god my ankles are healed) and into the bare living room. Kurama is sitting on the black couch, his legs a little apart, reading a book.
'I wonder if he's just pretending to read…'
The TV is blinking and blabbing on about politics (figures it would be). In front of the screen is a glass coffee table littered with a couple of newspapers, educational magazines, and a textbook, everything appears slightly disorganized.
"How are you feeling now?" He inquiries, seemingly concern.
"Alright now, thanks to you." I state with a smile and take a seat next to him, staring blankly at the TV's black dude in a gray suit.
'It's now or never to ask.'
"I know you explained earlier you had thought I was a demon, but why…and how?" I push myself to question.
"I will explain, once you tell me, how you know of my friends, their backgrounds, my demon name; and why these are in this device." He hands me my cell phone, his demeanor completely flipped, from caring Cary to stern Stan.
'Shit...He doesn't appear all that happy...'
"Oh that…." I mumble, stunned.
'Wow this is creepy….'
Y-you sure you aren't a cosplayer?" I respond weakly, and he doesn't look too tickled.
"Miss Aisha, I don't find your joke in the least amusing. Now explain yourself."
To be continued...
My notes:
This chapter was 20 pages long but has been cut down to 10. Personally, I think I did okay, so let me know what you think!
Rock out and Peace on!
