Reality Viewing: Naruto the Quirky Villain
-Chapter 11-
A cacophony of power tools working and excited giggling rang out through the classroom turned impromptu movie room thanks to Mei as she worked on fixing her broken baby with a fervent glee. True to her word she had given the entire thing an overhaul, from simply fixing up the damaged circuity and wiring to encasing the entire machine with insolated and reinforced Polycarbonate plastic (Complete with padded seating for comfort).
And now she was currently tucked away underneath the chair through a recently made access panel as she tinkered away with something else. The only part of her visible being her legs and occasionally a hand whenever it came out for something she had Momo create for her.
Meanwhile, everyone else was still in their seats patiently waiting for her to finish, even Midnight who had returned a while ago with Recovery Girl in tow.
Speaking of…
"Mwah, there you go deary," The elderly heroine gave Mirko a quick peck on the forehead, causing both of the rabbit heroine's ears to glow briefly as the damage to her eardrums was repaired almost instantly. "Feeling better?"
"Very much so, thanks." Mirko said with a relief sigh, rubbing her ears until the last bits of ringing finally faded away into nothing.
"Of course I'm always happy to help, and be sure to let me know if you have any lingering issues," Recovery Girl said while giving the rabbit woman a few gummy bears, to help counter the mild fatigue using her quirk on her caused. "Now if you'll excuse me I have other matters that I must get back too… so many young ones rushing around today that may hurt themselves."
That last part was muttered to herself but still heard by the rest of the room, making more than a few curious at what she was talking about.
"What is she talking about? Is there something going on today we don't know about?" Shoto asked while looking to Midnight for answers.
"Nezu has some school tour group or something coming in while classes are over," The adult rated heroine said with a shrug. "A whole 'see what your future could be' so more kids will be inspired to strive for more sort of thing."
"Oh…" A look of realization cropped up on the half & half quirked boy's face as his gaze snapped towards Momo, who was in the middle of wolfing down a large sandwich while simultaneously making several coils of wiring that she passed down to Mei. 'That explains that 'extra work' Momo mentioned earlier.'
"Well that's all fine and dandy but I have a better question," Mina started with a dull look as she gestured to Mei and her invention, which now looked like an actual proper piece of equipment and not a makeshift electric chair. "How the hell can she practically rebuild that entire thing but still not get Mirko free of it?"
"I'm not explaining it to you again! You didn't listen the last five times!" Mei called out, making Momo jump slightly at the sudden shout while Mina huffed and crossed her arms.
"I do so listen, I just can't understand all that tech speak you use." The acidic teen grumbled with an eyeroll.
"Then I suggest reading a dictionary sometime!"
"Oi! Quit the pillow talk and focus on what you're doing! I really don't feel like getting electrocuted again because you weren't paying attention." Mirko cut in, putting her foot down on the conversation literally as she smacked her heel against the ground hard enough to make the room shake a bit.
"Relax, I'm almost done, just a few more twists here and…" A soft humming sound rang out as the Viewer lit up and the hologram reappeared in the air, fully buffered and waiting to be played. "Voila~, all better! Listen to my baby sing!"
"Oh thank heavens." Momo sighed as she flopped into a chair and wiped her brow in relief, graciously accepting another sandwich that was offered to her by Mina.
"About damn time pinky, I was starting to think I'd die of boredom," A much less enthused Mirko grumbled as she impatiently rapped her fingers against the armrest with one hand while the other picked out flecks of blood from her ear. "Now hurry that ass up and get back to your seat so I can start this already."
"Yeah, yeah, hold your-huh?" Mei started to say while clambering out, only to stop halfway for some reason with a confused squeak that got everyone's attention. This was swiftly followed by a bunch of muffled grunts and soft swears as the pinkette's legs squirmed around blindly against the floor, knocking over an end table and scattering several of her inventions across the floor. "Ah crap, someone help! I'm stuck!"
…
"…Pffft! Ahhahaha!" Just like that Mirko's mood did a one-eighty as she doubled over laughing her ass off, pounding her fist against the armrest.
"Hey! Stop hitting my baby! And stop laughing, this isn't funny!"
"Are you kidding, it's fucking hilarious!"
"Is not!"
"How did you even get stuck Mei?" Mina asked as she knelt beside her fellow pinkette curiously. However, as soon as she got a closer look, the acid quirked girl couldn't help but start snickering loudly for some reason. "N-n-nevermind, I think I see w-what the p-problem is."
"What? What so… oh, ribbit." Joining her friend, Tsuyu took one look and immediately facepalmed at the sight she was greeted by.
It seemed that in her excitement to repair and improve her beloved invention, Mei forgot to take one very important thing into account when putting everything together… or more precisely two things.
"Could you stop laughing and help me already!?" Mei shouted as she tried and failed spectacularly to get her breasts to fit through the hatch.
"Don't worry, I got you covered, just hold still for a second," Once she managed to get her laughter back under control Mina filled her hands with a bunch of slime before smearing it all around the stuck mechanic's waist and what she could reach of her chest. Once she got it all over as thoroughly as she could, the pink pinkette grabbed one leg while Tsuyu got the other. "Alright, on three we pull. Ready… THREE!"
With a grunt both girls pulled as hard as they could, their faces quickly turning red from exertion and sweat building up on their brows. Meanwhile Mei squealed in pain from her chest getting smushed against the inside of the Viewer.
"Ow! Ow! OW! Stop! This is-" *Pop*
"Oof!" "Ribbit!" Mina and Tsuyu fell flat on their asses as Mei finally popped free, leaving all three of them laying on the floor panting.
"Well… that was certainly an interesting experience…" The mechanical genius groaned out while slowly getting up to reveal her grease and goggle covered face. Flipping said goggles back onto the top of her head, she smiled brightly while stretching a bit, sighing as her back cracked audibly. "But so totally worth it, just look at how my baby turned out. Doesn't it look amazing?"
…
"Uh hello? Is nobody gonna say anything?" Mei asked when she was met with complete silence as everyone just stared at her with wide eyes, the sole exception being Shoto who was instead looking straight up at the ceiling with a light blush. "Why's everyone looking at me like that?"
"Uh… Mei," Momo finally spoke up, getting the pinkette's attention. "You… you may want to… I mean…"
"You're shirt came off, ribbit." Tsuyu stated bluntly while holding up Mei's shirt, causing said girl to blink in surprise before glancing down to find that she was indeed topless. And to make matters worse, she had not worn a bra today meaning her girls were out for the world to see.
"Huh, I was wondering why it felt so drafty out here." And yet Mei didn't seem to mind this one bit as she took her shirt back and used it to wipe off the slime still sticking to her chest rather than putting it back on. Once she was done she tossed the soiled clothing into a box full of various broken devices in the corner before going over to her seat and pulling out an identical shirt.
Just as she was slipping it in on though, the door suddenly flung open as Tenya hurried into the room, his normally immaculate appearance all ruffled up.
"Guys! You have to hear this! You never… believe…" He started to say frantically only to almost immediately trail off once his eyes settled on the half-naked pinkette standing in the middle of the room. Total silence filled the room as time itself to freeze as the bespectacled teen could do nothing but stare in shock, his eyes widening so much they threatened to fall out of his head while his face practically melted from how red it was turning.
"Ah, hello again whatever your name was, did you need something?" Mei asked curiously while putting the shirt on the rest of the way.
The question managed to snap Tenya out of his shock and he immediately pointed at the pinkette. "W-why were you… highly i-inappropriate… must r-report…"
Before anyone could say another word, the engines in the young man's legs roared to life and he rocketed away… straight into the wall at high speed.
"Ooooh… he is gonna feel that in the morning." Mina said with a sympathetic wince as Tenya bounced off the wall and stumbled backwards dazedly.
*Click*
Once again everyone in the room froze as an ominous clicking rang out as Tenya inadvertently stepped on a device on the floor that looked eerily similar to a grenade. And for good reason as a split second later it went off and engulfed the teen almost entirely with a thick pink foam, leaving only the top half of his face from the nose up exposed.
"Alright, looks like baby three hundred and forty-two works perfectly," Mei said proudly while everyone else just stared at the entrapped boy as he wiggled his head back and forth uselessly. "Don't bother struggling, that stuff can handle six tons of pressure without tearing and very resilient to most types of corrosives." Mina snapped her fingers while dumping a handful of acid she had been making into the trash, reducing the rest of the contents inside to goop. "You'll just have to wait until it dries and breaks down on its own."
"And how long will that take exactly?" Midnight asked as the inventive girl picked up the other gadgets that had been scattered onto the floor.
"About two hours, three if its particularly humid."
"Mph!?" Tenya's eyes went wide at Mei's casual statement before he struggled even more against his gooey pink prison.
"…You do realize that could have suffocated him if it covered his nose and mouth, right?" Momo pointed out, making the pinkette pause briefly.
"Huh, I didn't think of that… need to find a way to prevent that in the future, maybe some kind of-."
"Oi! Keep it down nerdette, I'm starting this thing." Mirko cut Mei off as she smacked the play button.
U.A. High School.
"I'm not becoming a hero."
"I know you don't want to be a hero, and I'm not going to make you." Nemuri sat across the table from Naruto, she had managed to catch him as he came home from school before he vanished for the afternoon.
A snicker escaped Mirko's lips, still finding it hilarious how Midnight was unknowingly trying to convince the currently most wanted and notorious criminal into going to the number one hero school of Japan.
He had been staying at the apartment the last few days, without leaving like he usually did, so she wanted to show him something that she had been working on for him. "... I said I was going to support you if you wanted to make a new orphanage... I am sorry that you lost your birth right, I didn't know-"
"I don't want-"
"Please, let me finish." Nemuri was very patient, but she didn't like being interrupted by anyone.
'Don't we know it.' Mina, Momo, Shoto, and Tsuyu unknowingly thought at the same time, each of them recalling how scary their teacher could be whenever she caught someone slacking off or made the mistake of interrupting her.
Not even Mineta was willing to try anything during her classes after the first time he got caught.
She could understand, Naruto was going to hold a grudge against her, and she accepted that. That didn't change the fact that she had decided to adopt him, and by adopting him, she became his family, his mother. She had made a promise to herself that she was going to do her hardest to give him a better life and love him. She blinked when she saw Naruto frown, and she waited for him to say something biting.
"... then finish. I don't want your excuses though." Naruto crossed his arms and got comfortable, staring her down with his full attention.
She blinked in surprise.
"…That was way too easy." Midnight muttered to herself with her eyes narrowing slightly. She'd seen enough of how Naruto acted so far to know that there was no way he'd just give in like that, not without at least a bit more stubbornly dismissive.
Also, was it her, or did he seem really tired, and kind of pale?
"He does look a bit under the weather, doesn't he?" Leaning in closer to the projection, Mina looked over the image of Naruto closely. "I think… yep, he definitely has a cold."
"I wouldn't be surprised, ribbit," Tsuyu stated. "With how often he's been jumping into cold water as Kurama it was only a matter of time."
"Oh my, I hope he's gonna be okay." Momo said in concern, making Mirko cross her arms with an eyeroll.
"Don't be such a pansy about it, all he needs is some chicken soup and orange juice and he'll be right as rain again."
"Me being sorry won't change things... I'm going to fix my mistake. I want to help you start anew, but you have to graduate from a high school... you're test scores from your current school... aren't good." Nemuri wasn't going to hide this fact. Naruto attended school just barely enough to allow him to graduate from middle school, and his test scores reflected that very well as well. "... but I can get you into U.A. with a letter of recommendation. I promise to help you be able to give orphan children the gift of having a family, and I will tutor you myself... but U.A. is the only school that I can submit my recommendation to as a teacher." Nemuri explained to him, and she waited for him to interrupt her or say something biting.
"Makes sense, he'd need to get government approval in order to start up a new orphanage and there is no way that's gonna happen if he stays a middle school dropout," Momo muttered as she rubbed her chin thoughtfully. "At the same time though, almost no school would even want to take him with such poor grades and attendance record meaning he's really got not many other options to go with."
"Mph! Mmmmph!?"
"Quiet in the back." Mina said as she playfully tossed a bundled up chip back at Tenya when he tried to say something through the glue.
"Ah man, so now he's gonna be stuck in school," Mirko grumbled with her arms crossed in annoyance, tapping her foot against the ground rapidly in annoyance. "How the hell am I supposed to kick his ass if he's stuck sitting on it all day?"
"Perhaps you could volunteer as a teacher, ribbit." Tsuyu suggested jokingly before deadpanning when she saw the look of serious consideration on the rabbit woman's face.
He didn't.
He frowned more deeply, and tightened his arms up in front of his chest, but she smiled a little when she saw he was considering her words a little.
"... Go on." Naruto told her when he saw her waiting.
"You're listening to me?"
"I don't have a choice, do I?"
"Sheesh, maybe someone should see if he wants some fries with all that salt." Mina said with a slight grimace as she could practically taste the bitterness from Naruto's voice.
"... U.A. isn't just a hero school, it has an excellent Support Class, Business Class, and General Studies... I spoke with the Principal, and he said the General Studies would be happy to have you on my recommendation." Nemuri, smiling a little, reached out to touch the side of Naruto's face to enact a little skinship with him, was saddened when he moved his head back to refuse her that.
He was willing to listen to her talk now, but she could see he still hadn't forgiven her of the fact that she stole his family legacy from him. She had uprooted his life and his dreams for the future, so it was no surprise that it would take some time before she was forgiven, and more time before he really came to see her as his mother. Still, he didn't jerk away from her as violently as she expected he would have.
A tiny smile appeared on Midnight's lips, happy to see that her counterpart was making some progress with the boy, even if it was just a tiny amount. 'Baby steps Nemuri… baby steps…'
"... I don't want to run an orphanage... I wanted my parents orphanage... I wanted to continue their legacy." Naruto's eyes narrowed in anger at her, because he had put some thought into it.
His parents had died before they could truly be parents, and they turned him into an orphan, but they had left him with such a large legacy. He had been proud that he would have eventually been able to own their business, he had looked forward to it when he learned that his Toad Quirk being lame, and him being a teenage boy meant he wasn't likely to be adopted. Now that he was adopted, and lost out on the orphanage... he was more lost now than ever.
Without a word, Momo lifted the sleeve of her uniform as a handkerchief formed in a sparkling aurora. The reason for this was quickly made apparent as Mina swiped it and started blowing her nose.
"Sorry but all this emotional stuff is really starting to get to me." The acidic girl said between sniffles, her eyes sparkling with unshed tears until she wiped them away with another tissue.
"At least you're doing better than when we watched that old children's movie about deer last month and the mama deer died, ribbit." Tsuyu said, making several as the pink pinkette crossed her arms with a pout.
"That is not a kids movie, no kids movie should ever have a scene that sad."
"What abou-"
"Shush you." A pink hand pinched Tsuyu's lips shut before she could finish.
"... Well... what do you want?" Nemuri was willing to help him achieve his dreams, whatever they be now.
Naruto didn't answer, he just took the enrollment forms for U.A. and looked down at them, before he squeezed them tight enough he almost ripped them. Nemuri patiently waited with her hands on her leg, right crossed over left, and just sat silently as he looked over everything. She saw rage and sadness boiling over in his eyes as they trembled with emotion.
"I don't know what I want anymore." Naruto whispered to himself, not Nemuri, he didn't even mean to whisper it out loud. His thoughts just sort of escaped his mouth, and she could see not just the rage now, or the sorrow, but she could see he was confused as well.
"Damn, this really is hitting him hard." Mirko muttered, her grip on the Viewer's armrests tightening as she saw the pure emotional turmoil flickering across the blonde's face.
"Of course, all he ever wanted was to continue his parents legacy which is now impossible," Surprisingly it was Mei who chipped in while she pulled apart one of her devices, cannibalizing the parts for another one that was half built. "I'd be the exact same way if someone stopped me from making my babies ever again."
Snapping out of her own somber thoughts, Midnight couldn't help but give the young inventor a dry look that several of the other occupants in the room (Especially Iida and Mirko) shared. "Based on personal experience and how many incident reports Power Loader files about you each day that is an ever growing and very distinct possibility."
"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time."
"You cannot rebuff every criticism about your reckless tinkering with Thomas Eddison quotes."
"The only real valuable thing is intuition."
"That doesn't mean switch to Einstein instead."
She had turned his life upside down... and this was why she was so patient with him.
He was angry, sad, confused, and he didn't know what to do anymore. She understood his teenage emotions very well, she had experienced all of them herself when she was his age or at some point in her life. She already fucked up in forcing the adoption on him, even though she hadn't meant to hurt him. He didn't hate her, and deep down, she was sure that he understood her feelings were genuine... but he was driven by emotion, not logic or reasoning.
"I still say that lady at the orphanage was up to something, the question is what exactly." Mina said as she rubbed her chin thoughtfully after blowing her nose again, her face scrunching up a bit as she tried to figure out exactly what the Head Caretaker's motivations were. Sadly though, she just didn't have enough, or more like any, information to work with aside from the fact she knew of the will and lied about Naruto's willingness for adoption.
"You don't have to join U.A., if you don't get into a high school, I'll tutor you and help you pass the entrance exams of any school you pick. U.A. is the best high school, and I knew I could get you in before the year starts." Nemuri didn't want him to think that this was the only choice he had at this point.
Naruto glanced at her, his grip on the papers softening, though he was still angry.
'Good call, the last thing he needed was to feel trapped again.' Midnight silently praised her other self's carefully wording and reassurance to ensure Naruto understood he could still decide what he wanted.
"... Fine, you win... I'll go to U.A..." Naruto got up and started to head towards the bathroom, leaving her sitting alone.
"And thus the most wanted villain of Japan was let into the best rated hero school, irony at its sweetest." Mina said with a soft giggle, relaxing a bit now that the drama seemed to be over… for now at least.
Nemuri sighed in relief and relaxed.
"Still... that was stressful... I didn't know if he was going to fly into a rage... I wish he would yell at me, and get some of this off of his chest." Nemuri sighed to herself and ran a hand through her ponytail.
"Bah, screw that talking crap, just let me have a few rounds at him and all that stress will be a thing of the past." Mirko cracked her knuckles with a smirk as she spoke, grinning excitedly at the thought of throwing down with the elusive criminal. Unfortunately, so caught up in such thoughts, she never saw the look Tsuyu gave her as the frog girl raised a brow.
"Ribbit, I think you should let Midnight-sensei have some more time adjusting to motherhood first before you try making her a grandmother as well."
…
…
The rabbit heroine's face turned completely red as everyone else in the room aside from an equally red Tenya erupted into fits of laughter.
"T-that's not what I m-meant! I was t-talking about fighting! Fighting damn it!" Mirko stuttered out angrily while glowering at Tsuyu with all her might, although the affect was greatly diminished by the still vibrant blush on her cheeks.
"Oh sure… let me guess… you were gonna suggest wrestling?!" Mina barely managed to get out between fits of laughter-
"Yes actually!"
Only to double over in hysterics when Mirko actually confirmed that.
Meanwhile, the whitette herself froze once her brain caught up with her mouth then promptly facepalmed with a groan. Resigning to her fate, she pressed the pause button on the Viewer and waited till everyone calmed back down.
"Hehehe… oh man… I needed that…" Midnight wheezed out once she finally couldn't laugh anymore while idly wiping a tear from her eye and settling back into her seat.
"Yeah… thanks for that Tsu." Momo said breathlessly, making the stoic faced teen croak softly in appreciation.
"Happy to help, ribbit."
"Yeah, yeah, sure, everyone laugh at the bunny. Stupid jackasses…" Mirko grumbled several choice swears under her breath as she restarted the projection.
She had started to read several books on motherhood, tips about how to grow closer with your son. She also read books about what to expect with adopted children, and how to grow closer to them.
Skinship was mentioned as the number 1 way to form a closer bond, and she remembered taking baths with her mother and father until she was in middle school, and she was extremely close to her father still. She knew friends of her that still went to hot springs and public baths with their parents, but she was also pretty sure Naruto would not have a great reaction to her if she tried to form a bond with him right now, skinship or not.
"Maybe not her, but I know someone who-" *Thwack* Faster than anyone could blink, Mirko's foot shot up and smacked Mina right in the face, knocking her out of her seat. "…Owww… got it, no more jokes…"
-With Naruto-
'I'm so damn dizzy... my head hasn't been right since I escaped from Mirko the other day... my head is pounding.' Naruto rubbed the side of his head, not thinking super clearly with his headache. Nemuri's actions and words were getting to him too, so walking towards the tub, Naruto turned the heat on so that by the time he showered, the tub would be heated up.
"Ribbit, I thought so, the cold water must've… wait… oh no, ribbit," All the color suddenly drained from Tsuyu's face as her eyes widened in realization. "Someone needs to stop him."
"Uh, what's wrong Tsu? It's just a shower." Mina said once she back into her seat, nursing the growing bruise on her forehead.
"A shower that most likely uses chlorinated water still and chlorine is extremely poisonous to people with amphibian quirks when we're sick," Tsuyu explained quickly. "With how sick he sounds even a little could put him into shock or worse he could…"
She couldn't bring herself to finish the sentence but she didn't have to as everyone else got the message loud and clear.
Naruto shook his head to clear the webs from his brain.
-Later that Night-
"Naruto... you've had the water running for awhile now... I think you've showered long enough." Nemuri knocked on the door, waiting for an answer back. She could still hear the shower running, and it had been running for a long time now, almost 2 hours. She had gotten so preoccupied making dinner and reading a book, that she hadn't even noticed that Naruto was still in the shower.
No answer.
"Oh no…" Midnight covered her mouth in horror as her counterpart was met with silence. 'Please be okay. Please be okay!'
'Come on you slippery bastard, say something!' Mirko thought worriedly, clenching her fists so tightly her knuckles turned almost as white as her hair.
Nemuri frowned and cracked open the door, just in case he didn't hear her when she was speaking, but she made sure to respect his privacy by not looking.
"Naruto, your shower is done now, other people need to..." Nemuri opened the door completely when she noticed Naruto's leg flat on the ground, and seeing him fully, she saw that he had collapsed at some point, the water just running across the back of his head as he laid prone.
Total silence filled the room, nobody daring to say a word as they just watched the events unfold.
She rushed to his side and the water started to rain down on her, wetting her clothes, as she flipped him over and saw his face was boiling red. She put the back of her head against his forehead, and saw that he was burning up. She put her hand on his chest, and could feel his heartbeat moving weakly.
Nemuri picked Naruto up and rushed out of the bathroom, rushing into her own room and laying him down on her bed as she got him out of the hot water. She didn't waste a moment to grab her phone as she started to dial up somebody that could help her.
-The Next Day: At the Hospital-
"He's not dying, he's just really sick.
"Oh thank god." Midnight sighed in relief as soon as she heard those words, grabbing her chest as her heart pounded so rapidly it felt ready to burst from her chest. Meanwhile, Mirko slowly let out the breath she hadn't even noticed she'd been holding as her shoulders slumped.
His immune system was depleted, seems he took a dip in cold water and weakened himself. His blood work showed traces of chlorine, people with Toad or Frog Quirks can absorb liquids and oxygen through their skin. Normally, this isn't a problem with a human immune system being strong." The doctor spoke as he looked at the charts. Nemuri had rushed Naruto to a hospital, since she didn't know what was wrong with him or what to do.
"... and?"
"He's sick, and his body absorbed chlorine from overchlorinated water, sometimes water companies put too much in the water they purify. He'll recover soon enough, he needs to use organic shampoo and body wash without chemicals until he fully recovers though." The doctor started to write down the proper stuff that he should be using with his skin being the way it was. "We see this a lot with those with amphibian-like Quirks, when they get sick, their bodies lose their resistance to chemicals that they can usually withstand with ease." The doctor eased Nemuri's worries.
"Sometimes I really hate being right." Tsuyu mumbled softly, her head drooping with a sad sounding croak slipping past her lips.
"Hey, don't be, it's a good thing to be knowledgeable about these sorts of things," Momo patted the frog girl's back supportively as she spoke. "If you didn't then that could have happened to you too."
"…True… thanks Momo."
"Anytime."
Her hand went to her heart.
"Thank you, this is a relief... I'll go pick up what I need. You have no idea how worried I was-"
"You came rushing into the hospital in a soaked sweater, riding an ambulance with a naked teenager, demanding medical attention. It says you adopted him, I suggest reading up about Toad facts."
...
"I'll do that." Nemuri didn't argue against him, or even say that she was already doing that. She wasn't researching toads, she had just looked up some stuff about people with Toad/Frog Quirks and how they reacted to certain things. Naruto's Mutation Quirk didn't affect his physical appearance, so it was very easy to forget the fact that he was still very much a mutant-type, and thus, he was prone to following the rules of the species he was mutated after.
"To be fair he is like the most unmutant looking mutation quirked person I've ever seen," Mina said before pointing to herself. "I mean I'm way more mutant looking and my quirk is an emission type. And honestly if I didn't know what it was already I'd probably think he had some kind of cat quirk or something at first glance from those weird whisker-marks on his face."
"Perhaps, but it was still reckless of my other to take him in without fully understanding how his quirk affected him and his needs." A frown marred Midnight's lips as she mentally berated herself for being so careless about such things. As his caretaker she needed to know all about his quirk and how it affected his day-to-day life to prevent situations just like this from happening.
Nemuri reached down to pat Naruto's head.
..
She stopped herself though, uncomfortable.
Naruto hadn't accepted her yet, so she would hold herself back.
"Aw man… that one really got me at the end," Mirko muttered under her breath before running a hand through her hair with a low chuckle. "Actually genuinely forgot that wasn't real for a moment."
"No kidding, if that had gotten any more intense I probably would have melted my seat from sweating so much." As she spoke Mina used a fresh handkerchief, curtesy of Momo, to wipe her brow. "Hey Mei, maybe you should consider selling this thing to the movie industry. They'd probably pay out the ass for something like this."
"Ooooh, that's a brilliant idea! Then I'll access to free unlimited advertising for the rest of my babies!" The pinkette inventor exclaimed, putting down her current project in order to jot that idea down in her notes.
"Well I for one could do without all the constant plot twists, all these shocks are gonna make me break out in warts ribbit." Tsuyu said jokingly, earning a few giggles while Mina gave her a double thumbs-up.
The only ones not to say anything were Tenya, not that he didn't try more so nobody could understand his muffled gibberish, Momo, who seemed very uneasy for some reason, and Midnight. The adult rated heroine seemed content on keeping her thoughts to herself as she patiently waited for the machine to finish loading once more.
-End Chapter-
