Sabine, Zeb and Chopper looked between Kanan and Hera. While Hera was just angry with an air of disappointment, Kanan looked nervous. No wonder, he pissed off Hera.
It all began in a seemingly average mission – stealing some data from the Empire for a contractor Hera is in contact with – when they walked into some Imperial. Not weird, if you ignore her red light saber. Then Kanan pulled out a blue saber, beat her barely and they fled. When they were save, Hera demanded answers.
"Why didn't you tell us you're a Jedi?" she asked, at first angry, then just disappointed. "We're a team, Kanan. We just don't keep secrets from each other." She took a deep breath. "Kanan! Do you realize what an edge you would give us if you would use your abilities?"
"I... you're right." he said. "Looks like I will use my abilities more often."
"Of course you will!"
"Does that mean Kanan could take on an apprentice?" asked Sabine surprisingly interested.
"Why do you ask?" inquired Kanan.
"Simple, if someone joins us, I do not plan to share my cabin." she said, crossing her arms. "I do not want to build the second bunk back in again."
"Relax, I doubt that would happen. Not only do I doubt we were to find a force sensitive kid, I don't think I would be a good teacher." told her Kanan. "I never finished my own training after all."
"Eh, you would be better than none." chimed Zeb in. "Especially if the alternative is to end up like that woman you fought."
"Right..."
Another day, another mission. But something was off if you were to ask Kanan. He senses something. Or someone? The point is, he senses a force signature, a light signature at that. Unbeknownst to him, the signature was watching him.
Ezra remembers well what his grandmother said about Jedi, but his curiosity got the best of him. Even if he knows the hidden danger of the Jedi. In this day and age, if a Jedi is here, an Inquisitor is close by. Ezra does not feel like facing one of those. He started to scan the area for a potential inquisitor.
Kanan is confused. First he felt a light flare up, then that it reached out, now that presence tries to hide.
"Kanan? Is something wrong?" asked Sabine, donning her colorful helmet, obscuring her face. Kanan still knew she was worried. "You looked out of it... did you... you know, sense someone with the force?"
Of course she were to ask that. "Yes. It was weird. First they reached out with their force, now they hide." he told her. "It felt not like an Inquisitor though."
"Good?" Like him, Sabine was not sure this is good or bad. "Hera would probably tell you to look for them."
"But first, let's do this mission." decided Kanan instead.
Ezra's eyes snapped to the Jedi. He senses an Inquisitor close by. Ezra is sure the Inquisitor had noted the Jedi as he isn't covering his signature. Now he is conflicted. Helping them like he wants to, despite not being part of his parent's order and never having to say the vow, but then he would help a Jedi, something his grandmother and uncle would have massive issues with... but neither is here, he hadn't seen them in years, so why should he care what they think?
With a new, rebellious resolve, he jumps off the roof and lands onto a speeder pulling crates. Crates belonging to the Empire but desired by the Jedi and his group. Ezra then sped off. 'I hope this baits the Jedi away from that Inquisitor's vicinity.'
"Hey you!" They follow him. Good. His plans work rarely on first try. He then felt something heavy slowing down his speeder. Then the weight left with a crate.
"Hey you!" Sabine called out to the guy who stole the crates they wanted to steal. She then saw how Zeb jumped onto the guy's speeder and separated a crate from his speeder. The guy did not care. Sabine was sure he noted Zeb's doing.
The thief sped off. Sabine was about to follow him, when Kanan dashed past her. "The crates, Sabine!" She figured, he'll take care of the saboteur.
Kanan followed the thief to a tower. Getting off the speeder and following the kid calmly into the tower – an old, abandoned communication tower to be specific – and to the top instead of just taking the crates the kid abandoned on the ground. Kanan was so confused. More so when he sensed the presence again.
When he reached the top, the kid turned to him and said, "Why aren't you taking the crates? Go! An Inquisitor was following us! A Jedi hunter, you know?"
Kanan was surprised. The kid knows what Jedi are, that he is one, he knows what Inquisitors are and he apparently wants him to take the crates.
"Was? I am following you here." said a dark voice. "Dead end, Jedis!" Then a dark gray clad man jumped though a window into the tower.
"Dumb ass! The plural of Jedi is still Jedi!" said the kid. In a way, it was funny he would correct an Inquisitor about grammar. Then he pulled out a light saber. A yellow saber. He then attacks. He slashes his saber at the Inquisitor. While he misses, sparks come from his saber, electrocuting the nasty Imperial. He drops dead to the floor. "Ah, I've overdone it again. Criff..."
Kanan struggled to process what had just happened. There came lightning from that saber. And the kid... he is such a mystery. When Kanan snapped out of his stupor, he noted the kid collecting stuff. "What... are you doing?"
"That Inquisitor is dead. It is a question of time when the Empire tracks his corpse." said the kid. "I shouldn't have baited you to my home. Need to leave, need to leave..."
"Where are you going now?" asked Kanan slightly worried. While the kid ended an Inquisitor, he is still just a kid and probably an orphan if he considers this outdated tower his home.
"Dunno. Probably the retired part of the sewers in the capital?" guessed the kid. "Now get going, I'm sure your group is looking for you. Take the crate, I don't need it. Or the cave system south from here if the Empire hadn't found it yet."
"Or... you could join my crew." offered Kanan. "No need to sleep in sewers or caves."
He stopped collecting his stuff and turned to Kanan skeptically. "Why should I join you?"
"Well, like I said-"
"I know how I could profit from joining your crew.", interrupted him the orphan. "I ask how your group could profit from me joining you." Kanan just sighed and pointed to the dead Inquisitor on the floor. "Eh, besides that. But you don't even know my name! Do you really want that some rando joins you?"
"A rando force user, sure." answered Kanan. "Now what is your name?"
He hesitated. "Ezra Bridger." He then added, "But seriously, you sure?"
"Yes, Ezra. Why are you so stubborn?" asked Kanan. "Come with me. You are on the run after all."
"Yeah, because I saved you."
"Then let me repay you." said Kanan. He then heard Ezra's stomach growl. "When was the last time you have eaten?"
"Oh what? You think I eat rarely because I'm a street kid? I ate a few hours ago." answered Ezra, hiding his embarrassment behind being offended.
"And before that?"
"Mm, two days ago..."
"See? Hey, I repay you with food. You meet my crew, maybe you want to join us, then."
"Mm, fine." agreed Ezra. "Wait, are you your crew's leader?"
"Yes." answered Kanan. "Hey, maybe I could take you as my Padawan, my apprentice."
That made Ezra laugh. "What could you teach me? I saved you from that nasty Imperial."
"I... touche." answered Kanan. "Maybe a few Jedi tricks?"
"I thought your order wasn't allowed to share knowledge with outsiders." said Ezra. "Admittedly I would be interested in some saber forms. My style is a bit, well…" He gestured to the dead Inquisitor on the floor.
"Well, before we decide on that, let's meet the others." Leaving the tower after Ezra pocketed the Inquisitor's saber, Kanan reflected on what Ezra said. What is Ezra if he can use a saber, but clearly is not a Jedi?
Hera was relieved when she saw Kanan reach the Ghost with on the stolen speeder and with the crates. Then she was confused when she saw what Kanan brought as well. "Kanan? Who is that?"
"That's the thief!" told her Zeb. "Huh, he is tinier than I expected."
Ezra fought the urge to correct his grammar. Kanan then said, "Guys! Meet Ezra, the thief!" He told them about what actually had happened, that Ezra helped them.
"Mm, impressive." said Hera. "Now why did you bring him here?"
"Kanan decided to repay me with food." chimed Ezra in.
"Oh? Just that?" asked Sabine.
"That and I try to convince him to join us." explained Kanan.
"How could the pipsqueak help us?" asked Zeb.
"He beat the Inquisitor. Ezra... he can use the force and has a light saber, but he is not a Jedi." explained Kanan.
"Oh. Well, I better make your payment." said Hera, leaving into the ship and its kitchen.
"You two have good timing, it is nearly lunch time." said Zeb. He then pulled Ezra into the ship. Zeb guided, well, pulled Ezra to their community room.
While waiting for Hera to cook – Sabine and Zeb got banned from cooking – Kanan wondered how to fish for information. Ezra is clearly not a Jedi, but he can use the force and has a yellow saber. What is he then?
Soon Hera came back and they started eating. Sabine was happy Hera used a few more spices – something Kanan will complain about – she noted Ezra was eating pretty slow.
"Ah, Hera! Why is this so spicy?" complained Kanan like Sabine expected.
"Yeah." agreed Zeb.
Ezra was the only one not complaining. "Mm, what is the issue?"
"They have a low spice tolerance." said Sabine.
"Looks like Sabine isn't the only one with a high tolerance now." said Zeb.
"You say that as if I'm going to join you." said Ezra, more focused on his food.
"Apropos, in addition to join us, are you sure you won't want to be my Padawan?" asked Kanan. "You said yourself you are interested in Jedi Light saber forms."
"I said that, didn't I? Believe me, you do not want me as your Padawan. In addition, I do not need a teacher. Especially you, considering I beat the Inquisitor. Not you." told him Ezra.
"Apropos light sabers. Kid, if you aren't some sort of Jedi, what are you then?" asked Zeb.
"I have no reason to tell you." answered Ezra.
Before that could cause an argument, Hera asked, "Considering you lived in that tower according to Kanan, are you an orphan?"
"Actually no. That is just temporary." revealed Ezra. "I have family out there, we're just separated for a bit."
"What is that supposed to mean?" asked Hera.
Ezra sighed, "My grandmother, my uncle and a few family friends, we also are a rebel cell, a group like you." explained Ezra. "They took on a mission more dangerous than normally, so my grandmother decided I should wait that one out on Lothal."
The Ghost crew looked to each other. "Ezra, how long have you been waiting?" asked Sabine.
"A year..."
"Were you supposed to wait this long?" asked Zeb.
"No, only a month at most." admitted Ezra, "And if I wait any longer, I should assume the worst and not look for them... You know what?" He stood up. "I'm leaving. Thanks for the food, and bye!"
He wanted to leave the ship, but Hera blocked his way, so he couldn't even leave the community room. "No, no, no, Ezra. You stay with us. Come on, would it be so bad if you join us?"
Ezra looked to Kanan, but didn't say anything. Zeb then chimed in, "Ezra, answer my question: Are you some sort of Jedi?"
"I at first assumed he was a Sentinel." said Kanan.
"I'm not a Jedi nor the Padawan of one." stated Ezra.
Hera rolled her eyes. "Kanan, Zeb, drop the topic. Ezra, you can join us without becoming Kanan's Padawan. What about that?" She then added, "Who knows, maybe you change your mind."
"Doubt that." he muttered. "Mm, what if they are out there and search for me?"
"Then they would have come to Lothal by now." guessed Zeb.
"Eh, not really. I know how to pilot and I tend to ignore rules, so..." admitted Ezra. "They probably would check back home first."
"Oh? Still, do you really think they are alive after so long?" asked Sabine.
"I can feel them in the force, I know they are alive." said Ezra matter of factually.
Hera was thinking. "I have a proposal. We help you search for them if you help us with our missions."
"Mm, okay." agreed Ezra.
"In that case, you're Specter Six now." said Hera happily. "Now, who would share a cabin with Ezra."
"As long as it isn't the Jedi, I don't care." he muttered. In the end, Zeb volunteered, he also helped to sort Ezra's few possessions into the room.
"Eh, you have a lot of trash in your backpack. Are that multiple sabers?" asked Zeb, taking a peak into Ezra's backpack.
"The 'trash' are parts. I always work on my saber, it is always changing. I also build a few 'shell' sabers as well." explained Ezra. "And I like to steal Inquisitor's sabers."
"Ah, taking from the Empire, good." He then added, "But seriously, what are you?"
Ezra rolled his eyes. "The Jedi are not the only force users. Heck, in the Unknown Regions, they never existed, so other orders took their job."
"Does that mean you're from the Unknown Regions?"
"Yes."
It was night. Ezra couldn't sleep. "I hope joining them isn't a mistake..."
The next day, Ezra had breakfast the first time on months. Getting used to regular food will be weird. He struggled after the rations his family left with him had run out.
"Ezra! When you're done eating, I challenge you to a friendly saber battle!" said Kanan. "I want to see your style in action."
"Mm, okay." said Ezra. "But don't complain when I beat you." He then retreated to the cabin and returned with two sabers, but not his yellow one. "We can start now."
Hera, Sabine and Zeb were watching. Kanan activated his one blue blade, and Ezra activated two. One was also blue, but very pale and the other was simply white. The battle started when Ezra dashed to Kanan, attacking with his sabers. Kanan barely managed to block Ezra, who then used Kanan to push himself into the air. Then he slashed the air between them with his white saber. A strong wind pushed Kanan away, making him fall to the ground. Ezra then landed on the floor and touched the ground with the pale blue saber. Ice burst from it, spikes moving to Kanan, who train to gain distance.
"What the heck is this?!" he yelled.
Ezra deactivated his sabers. "The reason why I am not a Jedi. Simple as that." he answered.
Kanan stood up and deactivated his saber as well. "I admit, you're powerful, but your style is too much for most situations, especially when we need to be discreet."
"I... can't argue that." admitted Ezra.
"I... would be willing to teach you the Jedi forms I know." offered Kanan.
"Okay. Only those, no Jedi values." demanded Ezra, walking to Kanan. "I thought Jedi weren't allowed to share their knowledge with outsiders."
"Well, yes. But the order is done for and Master Yoda would want that we preserve any knowledge in some way." answered Kanan. "How do you know that, even? Did your family met surviving Jedi?"
"Well, in a way..." Ezra didn't say much, but Kanan noted he was uncomfortable about the topic.
"Ah, good you two get along." said Hera. Then something started to peep. "Oh, Fulcrum's calling!" And she left into the Ghost.
"Fulcrum?" wondered Ezra.
"Our informant. Only Hera really talks to them." explained Kanan.
"What is it, Fulcrum?" asked Hera.
"I just wanted to check on your crew." they replied. "Did anything happen the last few days?"
"Good! In fact, we have a new crew member. Kanan shows him the basics of saber fighting right now." told them Hera.
"He got a Padawan?" asked Fulcrum surprised.
"Not really." Hera explained the Enigma that is Ezra. "I hope Ezra would become Kanan's Padawan, though. Albeit... Ezra doesn't seem to like the Jedi? Kanan asked if his family met Jedi. He said yes, but looked so uncomfortable, as if the question activated a painful memory."
"Mm..." Fulcrum was silent for a bit. "He could be a Ky'Mori, a force user order from the Unknown regions." they guessed, "I have met a few on my trips there. They weren't fans of Jedi... especially the fire users. I am surprised he joined you despite Kanan."
"Why that?"
"Hera, I've met Ky'Mori who killed Jedi. There are reasons why I tell Jedi not to go into the Unknown Regions. The Empire may not be present there, but the Ky'Mori are. After Order Sixty Six, many Jedi fled there, only to walk into Ky'Mori. Well, not all kill, but some do..." revealed Fulcrum. "Keep an eye on the kid."
"I doubt Ezra would harm Kanan. He was more interested in just being away from Kanan than to harm him." argued Hera.
"So, standard Ky'Mori behavior. Good." They then were silent again. "You said his family may be out there, right? You... have you considered he may want to leave if you find them?"
"Yes... but I doubt we do. They have been gone for a year!" said Hera. "Ezra may feel them in the force, but Kanan told me when one dies, they become part of the force, that may confuse Ezra's sensing."
"I see. Take care, Hera and keep an eye on the kid." said Fulcrum before ending the call.
Just after a few training sessions, Kanan realized Ezra is a fast learner. Then again, Ezra was trained in fighting forms already. He has experience to learn this type of thing. Not to mention, standard Jedi forms seem to be easier than the stuff Ezra can do. "Your breath is weird." he pointed out. Doesn't mean Ezra is perfect.
"Ah, that! Yeah… my forms are based on breathing patterns, hence called breath styles, I don't know how to tact my breathing to these normal forms." admitted Ezra.
"I see." answered Kanan. "Than means you manually breathe, at least in fighting." These breathing styles just got more complicated. "Try not to think about it. Just let your body do like when you run."
"Eh… we also learned a breathing method to run faster… so that one is also manually." explained Ezra sheepishly. "But I think I know what you mean."
"Well, you probably figure it out fast." said Kanan. "You're a pretty fast learner, I am impressed."
"Kanan, you sound like my grandma! She used that as an excuse for me to learn as many breathing styles as possible." Ezra shuddered. "Even that stupidly named love form one of the grand masters just created. That one was torture..."
"She sounds like someone with high expectations." He tried not to laugh at the name of the form.
"That, strict and a hypocrite." counted Ezra. "And don't laugh! Master Adina's Love form is extremely powerful. If done right."
Then Sabine and Zeb started laughing. Ezra looked at them. "She named it Love?" Sabine lost it had to lean against Zeb. "Would you mind showcasing that one on Kanan?"
"Sure! But Adina's form requires a specific type of sabers." answered Ezra, dropping his annoyance. He vanished into the Ghost, fetching his saber.
Why does Kanan have the feeling Ezra just wants to humiliate him again?
"You're quite disrespectful to this Adina." scolded Kanan the two. "Creating a saber form is a great feat."
"Oh please, Kanan!" said Zeb. "You laughed, too!"
"I'm back! Get ready, Kanan!" said Ezra. The saber he had in his hand didn't look like much. It was very bare, but it looked very light. Maybe a light weight is the goal to properly utilize the Love form? Kanan got ready and activated his blue saber, waiting for Ezra to start. The kid then activated his saber.
Kanan noted instantly it's color. It was red. A very pink red, nearly magenta. He could hear Zeb crack up already. Then Kanan realized the second oddity of the saber. It was a whip saber. The blade wasn't stiff. "A whip saber? You sure you can use this safely?"
"You tell me!" Ezra then ran at him, before swinging the whip at him. The ribbon like blade wrapped around Kanan's blue. Kanan felt a pull and he lost grip on his saber and Ezra caught it. "That was too easy." He threw the saber back to Kanan. "Let's try again, but you attack this time."
"Fine." So Kanan did. Ezra dodged his attack doing a wheel to the left. He then wrapped his whip around Kanan's saber again. But this time Kanan was prepared and janked the saber, pulling Ezra off his feet. Then the magenta thread vanished and Ezra essentially flew to Kanan.
He reactivated the saber and whipped at Kanan, who barely managed to dodge. Ezra landed with a roll and whipped at Kanan again. "I have enough. So, this form could give you an edge on mobility and to gain height. And I admit, you can use the whip saber safely."
"Why is this called the Love Form?" wondered Zeb,
"Dunno! Only Adina knows that!" said Ezra. "Then again, she originally intended to call this the Emotion Breathing Style."
"Either way… Ezra, would you teach me one of the breathing styles you know?" asked Kanan. "Not necessarily this one, though."
"No for three reasons. First of all, these require special kyber crystals. I do not think those exist outside the Unknown Regions. Secondly, you're a Jedi. With the exception of chosen few Sentinels, we do not share anything with Jedi." explained Ezra, deactivating the whip. "And lastly, these require a slight tap into the dark side."
"Ah, I see…" answered Kanan. "Wait, that means you're part of an order already!"
"Took you long enough to notice!" said Ezra, rolling his eyes. "And news flash, Sith and Jedi aren't the only force users. Let alone the only organized ones."
"Well then, I will stop bothering you about becoming my Padawan."
After a while, they met Fulcrum. Ahsoka Tano. Ezra asked Kanan, "Is she a Jedi?"
"Eh… she left the order."
"So, no?"
"I don't consider me a Jedi anymore. If I would, probably a Sentinel." she said, "I assume you're a Ky'mori?"
"Yes. You know about us?" Ezra's mind was blown, he never expected to meet one outside of the Unknown Regions who knew what the Ky'mori are, considering they aren't even well known in the unknown regions.
"Yes. Now… would you teach me a Breathing Style? I always wanted to learn one since I met a Ky'mori a few years ago." asked Ahsoka.
Kanan expected that Ezra would reject her too, but instead he said, "The styles need a specific kyber, but I have a second air style kyber you could use if air is okay."
"Seriously? You're willing to teach her but not me?"said Kanan offended.
"You know what I said when you asked."
In the end, Ahsoka learned the air style, Ezra would teach Kanan if he was to find a matching kyber – Kanan was set on water style – and they were approaching Malachore. Kanan would have been worried that its dark ambient overwhelms Ezra, but Ezra was rather unbothered. Ezra just said, acting as if his order was better than the Jedi, "Unlike your order, we use the dark side, partly. Unlike the Sith, we stay in control and balance the side."
"But you prioritize the light side." countered Ahsoka as they were walking on the planet's surface.
"Yeah, then again we started as a Jedi off shoot."
"Oh really?" Kanan was surprised. "And you still talk down on me."
"I don't-" He broke though the surface.
"Ezra!" yelled Ahsoka.
But Kanan wasn't bothered. "Relax. He'll manage. He always does." It clicked for Ahsoka that Kanan really isn't Ezra's teacher.
Ezra fell into literal darkness. Luckily he had his fire and air sabers with him. Activating both, he used an Air style to soften his landing, and the fire for light. Ezra looked around, "Criff. Well, could be worse…"
"Who are you?" asked a voice. Ezra looked around and saw a Zabrak. Some of those managed to find their way into the Unknown Regions, so Ezra is somewhat familiar with them. He didn't miss that the Zabrak was glaring at his red saber. His dark signature told him why.
'Great. A Sith. Criff.' He answered, "Aithr'Ezra'Bridger."
The Sith took a closer look to Ezra. "I see, I assume you're part Chiss?"
"Yeah…" confirmed Ezra.
"Mm, hybrids are so rare in this part of the galaxy. Now, Ezra – if you don't mind me using your given name – seeing your saber, are you aware of the Sith?"
"I know they exist – Darth Vader and his master, Sidious. I work on destroying them." answered Ezra. "Now I have a question, who are you?"
But the Sith ignored his question. "Oh really? Well, in that case, why don't we work together as we have the same goal."
"I doubt our goal is the same." he answered, crossing his arms. "Similar at most. Not to mention, why should I work with someone whose name I don't know?"
"In that case, you can call me Maul." he answered. He gestured to a place afar. "There is a Sith temple on here, one holding secrets to destroy the Sith. We could go for it?"
"Fine. Maybe I can find a way out of here, too."
Like Kanan was surprised by how fast Ezra can learn, Maul was surprised by how much in tune he was in the dark side when they made their way into the temple. "Ezra, do you have a master?"
"Nope." he said nonchalantly. In the temple, he asked, "Do you feel this presence?"
Maul felt them, too, but he also saw three black clad figures sneaking in the darkness of their surroundings. A female voice said, "Oh, the Padawan and… Maul?"
"I'm not a Padawan nor a Jedi!" complained Ezra. "Stupid Inquisitors."
"Oh, those are Inquisitors?" Maul activated his saber, Ezra followed suit. "Ezra, I assume you can handle yourself in a fight?"
"Sure, but can you?" With that, Ezra attacked the female Inquisitor with a wave of fire. She dodged it with a wheel to the left.
"What is that fire?" the biggest of the trio asked. Ezra redirected his attention to him. The fire this time was boosted by air, to make it move faster and to fan the flames. Unlike his female colleague, he didn't manage to dodge – not that he tried – and got burned to a crisp.
"I suppose you can." said Maul quite shocked. 'Definitively not a Jedi Padawan. Good?' He then killed the smaller male Inquisitor. "These are so weak."
"Then again, they're just tools. Equally trash as their sabers!" added Ezra, pushing the last off a cliff with the force. "I am nearly insulted that one of those tried to recruit me."
"Now that those are handled, let's get into the temple proper." proposed Maul.
"Fine. But I doubt those three are here alone." said Ezra, looking around. "A Sith holocron seems to be the type of mission the Empire would want to succeed at at all costs, so they probably send someone high up. Not these three weaklings."
"Like?"
"A grand Inquisitor, maybe?" guessed Ezra. "Well, if there is one, we better get to the holocron before them."
The holocron itself was just floating over some podium thing. "Mm, not much security." mused Ezra.
"Unless it is a trap and this place self destructs when the holocron is taken." said Maul.
"That… sounds like something a Sith would do." muttered Ezra. "Well, here I go…" He took the holocron and nothing happened. "Huh. What now?"
"Ezra, I could teach you this holocron's contents." offered Maul. "I think you would do greatly as my apprentice; we could overthrow the Emperor with ease with your elemental forms."
Ezra turned to him abruptly, looking annoyed. "I tell you the same thing I told these two Jedi; I don't need a master!"
Maul stepped away, startled and surprised, sensing a dark wave of the force radiating from Ezra. "You really aren't a Jedi, then. I can sense that much. But what are you then? You are some type of saber-user, that's for sure."
"A Ky'Mori. Or Kyber Knight." answered Ezra. "I don't expect that you herd of us."
"I never heard of the Ky'Mori. A surprise considering your flashy way of fighting." answered Maul. "But I suppose you Ky'Mori don't avoid the Dark side of the force. Proper training should help you with your goals."
"What do you know about my goals?" questioned Ezra. He then shook his head, getting rid of the thought. "Not to mention, I know enough of that side as I need!" He then leaped to Maul, attacking the sith.
Maul barely managed to block Ezra's white saber. "You're quite bold to just attack a Sith like that." commented Maul. "You would make a wonderful apprentice."
"He won't!" yelled Kanan as he jumped into action. He pushed Maul away from Ezra with a force push, before engaging him in a fight himself.
"Ah, you must be one of the Jedi Ezra mentioned." said Maul.
"Ezra! Snap out of it and flee!" demanded Kanan, "I hold him back!"
But that annoyed Ezra even more. "Stop acting as if you're my master!" He then rushed into battle, sliding besides Kanan, before killing Maul with one smooth cut of his white saber. Ezra deactivated the saber and tapped Kanan's chest with it while saying, "I am not a Jedi, so I see no point in abiding to the Jedi codex. By Galax, I don't even need to abide the Ky'Mori codex." The ground started to rumble. "Ah, we should go."
"Right."
Both froze when they heard the noise of an old respirator. "I am impressed you ended Maul, boy. You really would do well with the dark side."
They then saw Vader rather away.
"Ezra, we need to leave."
"No. I have an idea to beat him." said Ezra. "You can run if you want, though." With that, he activated a blue saber, making Kanan very confused. He could swear that one was the air saber… unless one saber can feature multiple kybers. Which sounds like something Ezra would do.
Vader switched instinctively into defensive form, not anticipating to be splashed with water. Which slightly screwed with his speakers. "Wh-Whaht?" Then he felt thousand volts rush though his suit and body. Kanan then spotted the reason, a second saber with a yellow blade. Electricity. Which was the fire saber?
Vader just stopped moving and felt to the ground when Malachore started to rumble again. Parts of the temple started to break even. "Ah, time to go!" decided Ezra.
As they ran, they weren't aware that the black suit started moving again…
They left Malachore's orbit as they spotted the rebellion, according to Hera. On one of the flag ships, they met part of the leadership of the rebellion. Mon Mothma and one Commander Sato. The later was quite excited to learn that three of the newly joined Ghost crew were force users.
"I can't believe it! Three Jedi! What a lucky day for the rebellion!"
"Actually, I am not a Jedi." corrected him Ezra.]
"Are you a Sith?" asked Mon Mothma carefully.
"No, Ky'Mori."
"Never heard." replied Mon Mothma, having no idea what to do with that word.
"Good."
