The Rift had decided to liven up the Team's day by delivering a living gift in the form of an alien. According to Tosh's computers, it was fairly small, not much bigger than an average-sized housecat, but as small creatures often proved elusive and difficult to catch, the whole team had gone out to round it up.

The area where it had been deposited wasn't covered by CCTV, so they were operating solely on the data Tosh's programmes had collected at the moment of arrival. They'd been following the Rift energy trail the creature had left, as they did when tracking anything mobile, so they only had a very vague idea of what it might look like until they turned a corner and there it was, in the middle of the street. Most of the team stopped dead.

"I thought you said it was small!" Owen glared at Tosh.

"That's what my programmes indicated," Tosh protested.

"Maybe it's grown since it arrived." Ianto was frowning at the massive thing ahead of them.

"Relax, kids, it's a Vervog, they use illusion as a defence mechanism." Jack was grinning.

"How can you be sure?" Ianto asked.

"I can see right through it."
