Thea went to her room to shower and change. She was brushing her hair when Brie knocked and walked in.
"He loved that dress on you when he saw it", Brie said.
"I know, its why I wore it", Thea replied with a wink.
Brie giggled.
"So, we are off. Roman showered and dressed before going to go pick up dinner for you two. He should be home soon.", Brie said.
Thea nodded before slipping into a pair of heels.
"Have fun, Thea. You deserve this", Brie added, before hugging her sister.
"You guys have fun too", Thea replied.
She walked downstairs with Brie so she could say bye to Joey. Her daughter's eyes lit up when she saw her mom.
"Mommy you look beautiful", Joey said.
"Thank you baby. Have fun with your aunt and uncle, be good for them", Thea said, before kissing her daughter's forehead.
Brie took Joey's hand before walking outside. Dean looked at his sister in law.
"You look great, T.", Dean said.
"Its not too much?", she asked.
He would always be honest with her, its why she went to him when she really needed it.
"Nope. Perfect. He'll be home soon, left about fifteen minutes ago.", Dean replied.
She nodded and exhaled slowly. She walked Dean out and waved to them as they drove off. Walking back inside, she sat in her living room.
Waiting.
"What do you mean my mom talked you into a big wedding? Babe, we agreed on a small thing.", Roman said.
Thea was serving them dinner as she told him about her lunch with his mom.
"I think it's a great idea", Thea said.
He rolled his eyes.
"Bullshit", he said.
She gasped and looked at him.
"Baby, I know you. You know me.", he added.
She turned back to the food.
"You want a big wedding, I will give you that and I will pay for it. Tell me that's what you really want and its yours", Roman said.
She bit her lip.
"Its not. I want a small wedding. Just our families and friends we've known for years and we consider family", she said, sounding relieved.
He smiled.
"Then you've got it babe", he replied.
He went over to her and hugged her tight.
"I love you. Don't you dare let my family make you feel less than. If they get mad so what, they'll have to learn to deal. This is our life and I won't let anyone interfere in it. We write our story", Roman said.
She nodded.
"I just, I really want them to like me. I want your family to look at me the way they look at Sasha. Just once", she said.
His heart hurt for her. If only his family could see the amazing woman she was.
"But then I would have to share you and I really don't want too", he said, making her laugh.
But he did hope for the day they would appreciate her. She was a God send to him.
"I will talk to my mom tomorrow about this and I will let her know this was my decision", he said.
She nodded, even though she knew his mom was still going to blame her.
It was an hour after Dean said Roman should be back. She was getting worried. Was it happening again? Was he hurt worse this time?
She stood and grabbed her phone to call him when the door opened. He smiled and then looked her up and down.
"Wow", he said.
"Really? That's it?", she asked.
He noticed the look on her face.
"I thought something bad happened to you again. You were suppose to be back an hour ago", she said, panicking.
He set the bag of food and ice cream down before making his way over to her. He cupped her face in his hands.
"Thea, hey, I am fine. See. In one piece. I just, I had to go to three different stores to find the ice cream you like.", he chuckled.
"You got me ice cream?", she asked.
He nodded with a smile.
"There's something I have to tell you.", he said.
"What?", she asked, almost afraid too.
"Over dinner", he said, taking her hand and pulling her towards the dining room.
She was going to stop and help with the bags, but he stopped her.
"No. This is my planned date, and besides, in that dress I don't want you doing anything other than what you're doing now", he said.
"Which is?", she asked.
"Looking beautiful", he replied.
She blushed and smiled before taking a seat at their table.
"So earlier today your sister caught me sitting in my truck. I was a bit embarrassed I got caught, but I'm glad she did. See, I've been trying really hard to remember something, something important", he said.
"Our dinner", she whispered.
He smiled and nodded.
"I don't know how I knew, but once she mentioned it, it was like a light bulb went off in my head. I felt relieved that someone helped me remember that's what it was. Like a weight was lifted", he said.
"I'm sure", she agreed.
"So this is what this is. A make up dinner. Better late than never, right", he said.
She smiled, feeling tears well up in her eyes.
"I will admit your sister helped me pick out what you would get from there. Along with the ice cream of course.", he added.
"Thank you", she replied.
"I just need to heat the food up a bit", he said.
She watched as he moved around the kitchen.
"Wow, decided to remember you have a family and came to visit", his sister said as he walked into his parents house.
He rolled his eyes and then looked around.
"Where's mom?", he asked.
"With dad in the playroom with the kids. You know, with your niece and nephews", she replied.
"Don't. I mean it", he said, before making his way to the back of the house.
When he walked in, he hugged his niece and nephews. His mom smiled and hugged him, kissing his cheek.
"Its so nice to see you son", she said happily.
"You too, ma", he replied.
He sent a nod to his dad, who sent one back.
"Where's your…Thea?", his dad asked.
"My fiancée is at home, planning our wedding with her sisters and before you say it, yes she invited mine. Including you mom, but you all told her you were busy.", he replied.
"Our plans got cancelled.", his mom replied.
He chuckled.
"Then why didn't you go? She was hoping you would show up.", he said.
"Stop pushing us to like her", his dad snapped at him.
"I love her, she is my soulmate. I will not allow you to hurt her anymore. I let you all get away with it for so long.", he said.
"Roman, she's not good for you. We want someone who is going to support you and put you first", his mom said.
"And what makes you think she doesn't? That's all she's ever done. If it was up to me, you all would be out of our lives, but she won't allow it.", he replied.
"And why would you make that decision? Because of her. If you were with someone like Sasha, you wouldn't have said that. Kicking us out of your lives would have never crossed your mind", his dad said.
"It didn't cross my mind when I started dating Thea. It only did when you all started treating her like some kind of disease", Roman replied.
"Because she is", his dad said.
Roman shook his head.
"Then don't come to our wedding. My girl deserves the happiest day of her life, and you would just ruin it.", Roman said.
He looked at his mom.
"And thank you mom for the offer to pay for a bigger wedding, but I don't want it. We are inviting only a select few. If some of our family gets mad about not being invited, tough shit. Thea supports me in this decision, since you think she doesn't.", Roman said.
His mom nodded.
"And as much as you want to think she doesn't want you there, she does. She would be angry with me if I took the invite away, so yes, its there if you would like to go. I hope you do", Roman said, before leaving.
"Did I order the right dish?", he asked, as he sat across from her.
She nodded and picked up her fork.
"You did", she replied.
"So, can I ask questions? You know, about us", he said.
"Of course", she nodded.
"How was our first date?", he asked.
"You were ten minutes late. I didn't let you get away with it of course. This restaurant was actually where you took me. Tried the worst possible lines I'm sure every single girl in the world has heard once or twice.", she said.
He laughed softly.
"Sounds like me", he nodded.
"I think you realized they didn't work on me and your walls fell. I met you, the real, sweet, funny you", she smiled.
"I'm glad.", he replied.
"I almost said no to a second date, but, you apologized and I somehow knew you meant it. You were so lucky I'm a big believer in second chances", she winked at him.
"I was, and I hope I still am", he said.
She smiled.
