"I was beginning to think that you wouldn't show," Jack said as she looked at Yusei, who came driving in on her Duel Runner.
"Had to do a last-minute checkup," Yusei replied as she had to make sure that her Yu-Go was able to compete with the clearly upgraded Wheel of Fortune.
"Always the engineer," Jack said as she jumped into the Wheel of Fortune. "The track has been rented for this duel of ours, though it seems that has been leaked."
Yeah, that seemed to be the case, as Yusei could see many students filling the seats along the Turbo Duel Track.
It was Saturday, after all, though as she gave a glance through the seats, Yusei sadly didn't see Seig anywhere among the people, which left her a little disappointed, but she didn't know why.
The drove off to the starting track, and the speaker came on.
"This is a sanctioned duel between Yusei Fudo and Jack Atlas, and so I, Professor Vellian Crowler, will be the overseer as both are members of Raviel Blue, as sadly Miss Fontaine could not be available." Doctor Crowler spoke. "Now, before this duel begins last night, all Digital Copies of the Field Spell Speed World have been updated to a new version called Action Speed World come about to the new Real Solid Vision System. Otherwise, standard Turbo Duels as normal."
That shocked both Yusei and Jack and they quickly looked at the screens of the inbuilt computer to confirm that was the case.
And that this new Action Speed World Field Spell generated something called Action Cards that you had to run into as they were one-use Spell Cards, that you could only have one of in your hand at the time.
That could cause some complications on the track.
But Yusei would be able to deal with it and adapt like always.
"Both duelists at the ready?" Crowler asked.

"Then GO!"

At that, the two Duel Runners sped off at maximum speed as they cruised towards the first turn as the one that got it went to go first.
"The first turn… is mine!" Yusei declared as she boosted the engine and crossed the corner faster than Jack could, and she drew her hand, as did her Runner, hit a Duel Monsters card that was hovering on the track, and then a sixth card was added to her hand.
This was an action card, but not a very relevant one.
"Okay, first I activate the Spell Card One for One!" Yusei said. "By discarding a card, I can Special Summon one level 1 monster to the field, Cyberse Synchron(100/100)!" A little floating electronic device appeared with a cute little face on it. "Next, I play Reinforcement of the Army, allowing me to add Junk Synchron(1300/500) to my hand, which I will immediately summon. Junk Synchrons effect will then immediately activate, allowing me to Special Summon a Level 2 or lower monster from the Graveyard, and I choose the Junk Converter(400/200) I just sent."
"Playing with trash as always, Yusei!" Jack taunted her.
"This trash will send you flying, Jack, because I will immediately be tuning my Level 2 Junk Converter with my Level 3 Junk Synchron, now, discard machines of the past accel towards a brighter future at the speed of light! Synchro Summon! Level 5 Junk Speeder(1800/1000)!" Yusei declared, and from the light appeared a sleek silver warrior clad in shining silver.
"…That is a new one."
"I have been working on my deck Jack, and now that Junk Speeder has been successfully Synchro Summoned I get to Special Summon Synchron Tuners from my deck with different levels, along with chaining my Junk Coverter's effect to get the Junk Synchron(1300/500) in my grave back on my Field and, from my deck I summon Jet Synchron(500/0) and Fleur Synchron(400/200)!"
"What an amazing play from Yusei Fudo, the first year showing why she belongs in Raviel Blue with such an amazing play. Her Field is filled, and something tells me she isn't done."
"The Professor is right about that, Jack!" Yusei declared. "I shall show you what true speed is!"
At that her Duel Runner got a little bit faster.
"First, I will tune my Level 5 Junk Speeder with my Level 1 Jet Synchron to Synchro Summon Level 6 Stardust Charge Warrior(2000/1300), who then Synchro Summoned allows me to draw a card, and to I chain Jet Syncron's effect, allowing me to add a Junk Monster to my hand now that it has been used as a Synchro Material," Yusei explained. "I will add another Junk Synchron to my hand."
"Are you done?" Jack asked.
"Not yet! I will then tune Level 6 Stardust Charge Warrior with Level 2 Fleur Synchron, now come together like shooting stars to form an immatieral wish, Synchro Summon! Level 8 Stardust Spark Dragon(2500/2000)!"
With that, a dragon that looked like her precious Stardust Dragon appeared on her Field but glowing with light.
"So you went and got one of the mass-produced copies of your dragon?" Jack asked mockingly.
"She will serve her duty until the original is returned, Jack," Yusei said. "Now Fleur Synchron's effect activated now that it has been used for Synchro Summon, I can special summon a level 2 monster from my hand, and I choose my second Junk Converter, who will be tuned by my Level 3 Junk Synchron to summon my second favorite monster Junk Warrior(2400/1300)!"
At that one of Yusei's most trusted monsters appeared on the Field.
"Again, an amazing play from Yusei Fudo, who has probably Synchro summon more on one turn than any other individual in the school, except maybe our best second year who she is dueling, Jack Atlas!" Crowler commented.
"I end my turn!"
"Finally!" Jack said as she slightly growled; she had not gotten a good hand she had missed getting none of those Action Cards. "Since I control no monsters, I Special Summon Crimson Resonator(800/300) in defense, then I Normal Summon Red Resonator(600/200), which allows me to Special Summon Soul Resonator(500/200) in defense, and then it is summoned I can add a Level 4 or lower fiend monster from my deck to my hand. That will be Wandering King Wildwind(1700/1300), who will immediately be special Summoned by his own effect as I control a Fiend Tuner with with 1500 or less attack!" Jack said as the jackal-like Fiend was summoned beside all the resonators.
"Now, my students, we are about to see Jack's own Synchro line combo!"
"That you are, you are about to see how the King duels!" Jack announced, and Yusei felt like she was in for a world of hurt. "I will tune my Level 4 Wandering King Wildwind with my Level 2 Red Resonator to Synchro Summon Level 6 Red Rising Dragon, who will like some of your monsters Yusei allow me to special a Tuner that was just used, that being my Red Resonator!"
The grinning Fiend appeared as it struck its tuning fork, the sound hitting her Stardust Spark Dragon, and some of the light dimmed as Jack's Life points increased.
Jack Atlas: 10500
"That was Red Resonator's effect, allowing me to target a monster on the field, increasing my life points by its attack," Jack said. "Now, my newly summoned Red Resonator will be tuning my Red Rising Dragon. Heat from the depths of hell emerges with the ferocity of a dragon, Synchro Summon! Come forth, Level 8 Hot Red Dragon Arcfiend(3000/2000)!"
At that, the mass-produced copy of Red Dragon Archfiend appeared on Jack's Field.
"You got one of your own?" Yusei asked in shock.
"Because it is strong, and I need power!" Jack declared. "And now its power will destroy your dragon, Yusei; I activate Hot Red Dragon Archfiend's effect, destroying all Attack Position monsters on the field!"
"I chain Stardust Spark Dragon's effect to protect my Junk Warrior from being destroyed by card effect!" Yusei said as Junk Warrior was protected from the hellfire that was unleashed on her Field.
"Hmm, no matter, Battle Phase!" Jack declared. "Hot Red Dragon Archiend, Attack his Junk Warrior!"
"No, you won't. Action Card: Illusion Dance activates in my hand, all attack Position monsters are changed to the defense until the end of this turn!" Yusei said as the card was sent to the Graveyard.
And she immediately saw another card on the track but was cut off by Jack, who snatched it.
"So that is the power of the cards that finally substituted Speed Counters," Jack said thoughtfully. "Main Phase 2, I set three cards and end my turn."
And then all the monsters were forced into attack position thanks to the effect of Illusion Dance.
"What turnabout, my beloved students! Yusei managed to save her Junk Warrior, but how will she overcome Jack's Hot Red Dragon Arcfiend!"
"I draw!" Yusei said as it became her turn. "Sorry, Jack, but this, I think this will be my win."
"What!"
"I Normal Summon Junk Synchron to get my Junk Converter Back on the field," Yusei said.
"I will then flip my Continuous Trap, Red Zone face-up," Jack chained, though currently it didn't do anything.
"Fine, and now that a monster was summoned from my Graveyard, I can Special Summon Doppelwarrior(800/800) from my hand!" Yusei said. "First, I will be tuning my Junk Converter and Doppel Warrior with my Cyberse Synchron to Synchro summon the Level 5 Synchro Tuner Accel Synchron!"
"Syncro?"
"Tuner?" Crowler and the rest of the audience asked.
"This is the power that I learned over the year Jack," Yusei said as she took a deep breath as she remembered Bruno's lesson. The mysterious duelist who had appared in front of her six months ago and offered to teach her a new way of Synchro Summoning. "Clear Mind! I will be tuning my Level 5 Junk Warrior with my Level 5 Accel Synchron!"
Red energy gathered around Yusei and her Duel Runner as her speed increased. "The wills of the people converging on a singular hope towards the future, I shall speed towards it with all my might, Accel Syncro!"
Boom!
"She vanished!" Jack said in shock.
Woom!
In a flash of green, Yusei suddenly sped past Jack from behind her. "Wha!"
"Level 10 Satelite Warrior!" Yusei declared as a massive warrior clad in armor that looked like well a satellite followed behind Yusei. "This is the spirit of the home that you abandoned, Jack. Satellite Warrior's effect will now activate; for every Synchro Monster in my Graveyard, I can destroy a card that you control!"
"What!" Jack shouted in shock.
Shock, all but one of her cards were blown up by the cosmic winds this Synchro Monster was generating.
"And in addition to that, Satelite Warrior gains a 1000 Attack!"
Satellite Warrior: 7500ATK/2000DEF
"That is not enough, Yusei!"
"I know, but I am not done!" Yusei said. "I activate Foolish Burial! Sending a monster to the grave, which will be my Stardust Synchron, whose special effect allows me to tribute a monster to special summon it, and I choose my Junk Synchron!"
"Stardust Synchron(1500/1000), when special summoned, allows me to add a Stardust Spell or Trap to my hand. I get Stardust Illuminate."
Jack growled.
"I then tune my two Doppel Tokens that were added by Doppelwarrior's effect-"
Jack looked at that was true; she had missed that, caught off guard by the Synchro Tuner.
"With my Stardust Synchron to Synchro Summon Level 6 Stardust Assault Warrior(2100/1200)!" Yusei said. "Then I will activate Jet Synchron's effect in my Graveyard and Special Summoning to my field by Discarding a card."
"Not enough to kill me this turn still, Yusei."
"I know, but this will hurt Battle Phase!" Yusei said. "Go Satelite Warrior, Satelite Barrage!"
At that, cosmic winds were fired on Jack, and she was almost thrown off her bike by the attacks.
Jack Atlas LP: 400
"Jack is in critical life point range now, and what an amazing play from Yusei, pushing our Jack Atlas like this!"
"I end my turn!" Yusei declared while Jack breathed heavily.
To think Yusei has gotten this strong in such a short amount of time. Jack thought, a sense of pride filling her body. Yusei was an entirely different person now, and even if Jack managed to recover and win, she would still give Stardust Dragon back to her.
"I draw," Jack said, and she got what was perhaps worst possible draw to get. But there was possibly still a way. "I will banish Wandering King Wild Wind to add a Fiend with 1500 or less ATK to my hand. And I get another Soul Resonator!" She said she saw Yusei get another Action Card. "My Soul Resonator will now add Bone Archfiend(1800/0) to my hand, who will then be special summoned by discarding a card from my hand."
The all-bones Fiend appeared on the Field.
"Though this locks me into Dark Dragon Synchro Monsters, but it is a good thing my Extra Deck is full of those!" Jack said. "I will activate Bone Arcfiend's effect by sending a Fiend Tuner from deck to my grave. I can regulate the level of one of my monsters by 1."
"That means!" Yusei said.
"Yes, Yusei. I send Vision Resonator to decrease Soul Resonator's Level by 1!" Jack said. "Vision, this allows me to add a Red Spell or Trap card to my hand, then it is sent to the graveyard; I will Absolute Powerforce to my hand."
"With a Level 4 non-tuner and a Level 2 Tuner, you know what comes next, folks!"
"That is right!" Jack said. "Synchro Summon Level 6 Red Rising Dragon!" And what followed was a combo that got her Crimson Resonator from the Graveyard onto the Field, and then its effect allowed Jack to Special Summon two Resonators from her deck, one of which was Red Resonator, which meant…
Jack Atlas LP: 7900
"Next, I will be tuning my Level 6 Red Rising Dragon with my Level 2 Red Resonator to summon a road of evolution for my Red Dragon Archfiend; I am not the only one who has gotten stronger, Yusei. Duel Academy has made me into an even better duelist, from the depths of hell bearing the scars of the Abyss, the dragon of fiends. Synchro Summon! Level 8 Scarlight Red Dragon Arcfiend(3000/2500)!"
And so appeared a battle-scarred dragon with power to rival the mighty Blue-Eyes White Dragon and the dragon wielded by Sieg d'Arc.
"I activate my Continuous Trap Red Zone, then I will activate Scarlight Red Dragon Arcfiend's effect destroying all special Summon monsters with an attack equal to less than its own, then I chain soul Resonator to avoid the destruction of my own monsters."
At that Scarlight breathed a breath of flames and destroyed two of Yusei's monsters.
"And you take 500 points of damage for each monster destroyed," Jack added as she was burnt for a thousand damage.
Yusei Fudo LP: 7000
"You didn't get my Satelite Warrior Jack."
"True, I have probably lost. But I wanna see if this works; first, I tune my Level 8 Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend with my Level 1 Synkron Resonator; now come forth from the burning hellish Abyss, Synchro Summon! Level 9 Hot Red Dragon Arcfiend Abyss(3200/2500)!"
"So is that your plan, Jack, to see if that works?" Yusei asked.
"Correct, I activate Archfiend Abyss' effect to negnate the effect of one of your cards, and I obviously chose your Satelite Warrior!" Jack declared.
As its dark flames covered Satelite Warrior and, its shine vanished.
Satellite Warrior: 2500 ATK
"Checkmate Yusei! Battle Phase!" Jack declared. "Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss! Attack with Abyssal Powerforce!"
"I activate another Illusion Dance from my hand, all attack position monsters go into defense!" Yusei said.
"Damn, I end my turn."
As expected all monsters went into attack position except Satelite Warrior, as the switching to attack was an effect given to the monsters, that was when mandatorily activated, but since Satelite Warrior had all effects negated, it could not.
At least, that was how Crowler's commentary explained it.
"I draw!" Yusei said, and she could only groan. If only she just had one more Synchro monster in the Graveyard then she had summoned Satelite Warrior when she would have won on that turn. "I change Satelite Warrior to attack position." She hit another Action card and got another Illusion Dance. "Battle Phase I attack your Crimson Resonator with my Satelite Warrior."
Jack Atlas LP: 6200
"I end my turn."
"I draw," Jack said. And she got another Wandering King Wildwind. "I activate the effect of the Red Rising Dragon in my Graveyard. Allowing me special summon two Level 1 Resonators in my Graveyard, and I choose my two Level 1 Synkron Resonators."
"Are you going to Synhro summon again?" Yusei asked.
"Yes, I will be using my Level 1 Synkron Resonator to Tune my Level 9 Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss to Synchro Summon my Boss Monsters, Level 10 Hot Red Arcfiend Dragon Bane(3500/3000)!" Jack said. "And then I will use its effect to tribute my other Synkron. To Special Summon Abyss Back to the Field!"
And now there were two.
"Yusei, you better use that Action Card you got, or you lose this turn!"
"I will Illusion Dance!" Yusei shouted, and the previous Battle Phase Jack had repeated.
"I end my turn," Jack said, though to be a dick, she used Abyss's effect to prevent it from going into attack position.
"I draw," Yusei said. And she got Junk Mail, and a plan of formed in her head. "I activate Quickdraw Synchron's effect, discarding a card to special summon it(700/1400), then I will Stardust Illuminate to send Stardust Synchron to the Graveyard to activate its effect."
"You have run out of steam, Yusei, but the fight has been respectable. I use Red Zone to Special Summon Red Rising Dragon back from banishment."
"Not yet," Yusei said. "Battle Phase. Satellite Warrior, attack Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss!"
"What!" Jack asked in shock?
As the monster destroyed itself
Yusei Fudo LP: 6300
"Now Satelite Warrior's effect activates; upon being destroyed, I can special 3 Synchro Monsters from my Graveyard, and I choose Accel Synchron, Junk Warrior, and Stardust Charge Warrior!" Yusei said as she got another Illusion Dance? Was the system bugging out? "Junk Warrior, destroy Red Rising Dragon!"
"Tch," Jack grunted as her monster was destroyed.
Jack Atlas LP: 6000
"Now I will activate Stardust Illumination in the graveyard, banishing it to lower the level of one of my 'Stardust' Monsters," Yusei said. "I tune my Level 5 Junk Warrior with my Level 3 Stardust Synchron!" Yusei held up her hand, and in that second, it glowed with a Crimson Mark, and so did Jack's right arm. "A trail of stardust converges on the hope of the future, return to me. Stardust Dragon!" Yusei shouted, and the entire track was bathed in Shining Crimson Light.
As the roar of a dragon was heard.
And both Yusei and Jack's vision went white as they saw.
And when they returned to the real world, the duel was over.
The system had seemingly been overloaded, and so it had been automatically canceled.
But on her Duel Disk now laid a card that had not been there before.
Stardust Dragon.
"I don't know what that was, or what it meant," Jack said as they pulled out of the track. "But it seems that Stardust Dragon returned of her own will."
"Seems so," Yusei said, still slightly shocked by whatever that vision had been featuring those monsters and that Crimson Dragon.
"Rematch later?" Jack asked.
"Rematch later." Yusei agreed. Smiling as it seemed, that their friendship was now on the course of being repaired.
Though when she went and looked over her deck later Yusei to her surprise found new cards in her deck.
And so did Jack Atlas in her Extra Deck.
