Yokohama, a city like no other. Shinichi remembered visiting the bustling city as a child alongside her parents. They heard a lot about the city and the seemingly mystical abilities that were drawn to Yokohama.
Considering Shinichi exhibited similar attributes that can be considered a part of an ability. From a young age, she was able to see things that other people couldn't see. Shinichi was able to interact and talk with ghosts.
Sometimes the ghosts would be able to have full-blown conversations with Shinichi. These ghosts have been dead for quite a while and are still holding onto something in the living world. They are usually quite talkative and uncooperative.
Other ghosts, the freshly deceased, would still be in shock and gaping at what had just happened. They would often be scared and horrified by what happened. These ghosts wouldn't be able to speak; they would only be able to look at what was happening in front of them. If you were able to solve their death, many of these ghosts would pass over to the other side.
Shinichi experienced this for as long as she could remember. Always in her sights were ghosts encased in silver light and slightly transparent.
In Yokohama, there were supposedly people who could have helped her control and recognize her ability. They were supposed to help her explore the full potential of her ability but the Dragon's Head Conflict broke out, causing her family to flee for safety.
They haven't been back since. That was about six years ago when Shinichi was only twelve. And a lot has happened since then.
That year, when she was twelve, her parents left for the United States. Sure, they offered for her to go with them but Shinichi denied them, wanting a more stable lifestyle. So they left.
Shinichi was alone.
Nearly three years later after staying in Japan instead of traveling to America, she ended up at Tropical Island where she followed two men in black which ended up with her getting poisoned and reverting to a stupid seven-year-old. To be honest, it wasn't her brightest time considering the poison had a nearly one hundred percent death rate.
With her newfound young age, she undertook the identity of Conan Edogawa, a boy. She did this to protect those around her and so she could move more easily without notifying the men in black that she was alive. If they were to try to find her, they would surely be looking for a girl and not a boy.
So, she cut her hair short, put on thick-rimmed glasses, and wore more masculine clothing. A completely new identity.
Now, three years later, being eighteen with a ten-year-old's appearance, she is finally returning to Yokohama.
It has been a long time since reverting into a child's body, and a wild one at that. At this point, she was just tired and wanted to move forward with her life. Going after the Black Organization has really destroyed her life and future potential.
But, she knew she couldn't stop until she completely annihilated that organization. But, quite often, she does go out of her way to solve other mysteries, other murders.
That's what led her to Yokohama, a seemingly hub for people with abilities. Another mystery popped up.
From her time here when she was younger, she vividly remembers how destroyed the streets became during the Dragon's Head conflict. But now, looking out to the city from her seat on the bus, she could see that they were able to completely rebuild what was destroyed and even erected some new skyscrapers.
It looked even better than the last time she was here. She smiled slightly. She was excited to actually explore the city this time around.
"Hey, Conan-kun!" Ayumi excitedly called out. "Have you ever been to Yokohama? It looks so pretty!"
Conan nodded her head, "Yeah when I was a bit younger."
"Wah, really?" Ayumi almost seemed to bounce in her seat.
"Does that mean you know if there are any good restaurants?" Genta commented as he seemed to be lost in thought.
"Ehh," Conan started. "Not really. I was only in town for about a day and we didn't do anything special."
"Then why did you come to Yokohama?" Mitsuhiko questioned.
"Ahh… I was going to see a specialist doctor," It was best to keep it as close to the truth as possible. "I had a special condition that needed additional testing. I'm all fine now."
Ayumi's eyes seemed to mist over as she began to cling to Conan's arm. "Why didn't you tell us?" She cried.
"Ah, it was in the past and doesn't affect me now so there was no real reason to-"
"But Conan! What if something really happened to you?" Ayumi cried out.
"Ahh…"
Conan then noticed that they were coming up to their stop, "Ah, we have to get off here. Don't want to miss our stop and end up somewhere completely different."
Rushing through her words, Conan stood up as their bus came to a stop, grabbing her bags that once rested by her feet.
She rather they didn't keep to this topic. It could possibly lead to them discovering abilities and she quite frankly didn't want to go down that rabbit hole.
Stepping off the bus with the Junior Detective League and Agasa, they were finally in Yokohama. Looking around, Conan was shocked by how much had actually changed since she was last in town. Everything looked so new.
"Conan-kun, pay attention to your friends," A voice said close by.
Glancing to the side, she saw the apparition that had been following her around for a while. His name is Hiromitsu Morofushi.
He started following Conan when she was still Shinichi back in the United States. The mystery man noticed that she could see him as soon as she made eye contact with him when confronting the serial killer. Even when she turned into Conan, he still stuck by, giving his two cents at every chance. It was kind of aggravating since she couldn't reply without being seen as a crazy person.
Honestly, Shinichi was first creeped out by the man following her around like a lost puppy, trying to talk to her, but then he explained his situation.
A Public Security Bureau Officer who went undercover in the Black Organization and went by the codename Scotch. It was quite laughable the luck Shinichi had in meeting people; either they were an evil murderer or some officer of an agency. So she was a bit glad he was on her side.
Anyways, she turned her head towards her group, heeding his words. Her friends were walking towards the nearby hotel. Following along, she made sure to watch them in case they decided to scamper off to do an unprompted investigation.
Entering the hotel, it was agreed that everyone would spend the rest of the day at the hotel considering it was almost night. Though, Conan had a feeling that it would be an eventful night.
Considering Yokohama was a center for ability users, attracting them like moths to a flame, it was only a matter of time before someone started a ruckus. Sighing, Conan glanced at the ghost following her, Hiromitsu was being especially attentive to their surroundings. She guessed he read a report or two about the events that had happened in Yokohama.
In this case, she was glad there was someone watching her back. Yokohama was dangerous not only because it was a hub for ability users but because it also housed the three powers who are a part of the Tripartite Framework. Considering they were currently not on the friendliest of terms, it was only a matter of time before someone tipped the balance.
Sighing, she turned her attention back to the group, noticing that Genta was trying to convince everyone to go to the hotel's restaurant. Agasa was also agreeing while Haibara was glaring up at him.
Rolling her eyes, Conan and the group went to check in when someone caught her eye, a man dressed in a green yukata. She remembered him from her time in Yokohama before; he was going to help her understand the full scope of her ability. His name seemed to escape her though.
Maybe she could meet him later and get his help. Maybe there was more to her ability.
Author's Note
Hello Everyone,
For this story, I will be modifying the base stories of both Bungou Stray Dogs and Detective Conan to fit my own version and story of events. So, everything will not be one-for-one for each character. Also, I did make Shinichi female for the story I want to tell. This will play a part in later romances.
Continuing, for the update schedule, there is nothing concrete. I am currently in school and anything I write is just a hobby. So there will be no set schedule. Also, I may feel like writing stories for different fandoms so I may create a different story and not update this one. But don't worry, this story will eventually be finished. It will just be completed at my own pace.
Lastly, I am making the first chapter short to gather feedback and to see if anyone is interested in this story. Is there any length of chapter that you prefer? Would you rather have a short chapter at 1k words, a medium length at 5k, or a long chapter at 10k? Is there any preference since this can also affect when I update this story?
Thank you
