"Thanks for reporting in, and I hope your little party goes well!"

"Thanks Lord Death... well... I'll take care of the thing you want next chance I get." Naruto gave Death a casual salute, and ended the call with the man there. The hologram of Death disappeared from the reflection on the water fountain. When Death disappeared, Naruto glanced behind himself and saw Tsubaki standing there.

She was hidden behind the corner of the building, and when she was spotted she came out of hiding.

"So you were calling Lord Death... I thought you just left to follow me. I was getting worried when you never approached me." Tsubaki smiled and walked towards him. She stopped and placed her hands on the railings that prevented people from stepping in the water. There were a couple of ducks in the water anyway, and she was gentle when she took a small piece of bread from her hand and tossed it to them.

She had expected Naruto to follow her.

"I did have to call Death. He has something he wants me to do soon... now that I'm a Death Scythe... I'm going to become a teacher at the DWMA. He also wants me to look into something with my free time." Naruto watched Tsubaki feed the ducks.

He placed a hand on her waist and pulled her in closer.

She didn't say a word as their shoulders touched.

"... So..."

"Well... yeah..." Naruto stated as he answered her unasked question. She blushed and nodded her head, a small smile appearing across her lips. She leaned her head against his shoulder, an uncommon thing for her to be able to do. "... before then... I want to visit her grave... I want you to visit her grave with me." Naruto continued.

She nodded.

"I would have loved to meet her... I'm sure she wishes she could be here, instead of me." Tsubaki placed one of her hands around him as well. "... I have a remedial lesson with Black Star."

"How are things going with him?" Naruto asked about her partner. Black Star was a member of the clan that killed his family, and he was also Tsubaki's Meister, her combat partner. There was close to a 5 year age gap between them, which caused some maturity issues here and there. Black Star's age was part of the reason Naruto let his insensitive comments slide so much. It was also the reason Naruto didn't connect Black Star with what his clan had done in the past.

If Black Star ever showed signs of awakening to the ways of his clan, then he wouldn't feel anything would be wrong with putting him down, but he didn't hope that would happen. He hoped that the kid would just go and live a righteous life.

With Tsubaki as his weapon partner, she could help steer him the right away.

"He's improving, but his stealth needs some work. He doesn't understand that when he peeks on girls bathing, he needs to be quiet." Tsubaki had stabbed him in the forehead with plenty of weapons in the past for failing to keep his mouth shut. She giggled when she saw Naruto's cheeks turn a little red. "... have you been peeking on me showering lately?" Tsubaki could feel like she caught him.

She did.

"It's... possible."

"Well, no harm if I don't catch you." Tsubaki wasn't the least bit angry. She didn't care about peeking as long as she didn't know about it, and it didn't get recorded and put somewhere. That was the important part. If you were talented enough to peek without getting caught, then it was her fault for not being observant enough and putting a stop to it. "... though... I wish I knew when you were going to peek... that way I could wear something a little... nicer."

"... I might peek tomorrow night, so maybe wear the those..."

"I'll wear the sexy red panties with the see through butt."

"Yes." Naruto did a small fist bump with his free hand. She giggled into her hand in response to his excitement. He scratched his cheek and looked away from her the second she giggled, before he chuckled. "... Pervert, wanting to get peeked at."

"I am not a pervert!"

"Lustful woman."

"Who are you calling a lustful woman." Tsubaku pushed him off of her, and accidentally pushed him over the railing and right into the water. Her feet and legs were splashed, and he was left soaked when he popped back out of the water. "Oh, I'm so sorry, here let me help-AAAH!" Tsubaki was pulled over the railing and into the water just like him.

She was also soaked.

Naruto spat a mouthful of water between her eyes, and she spat a similar amount of water up into the air like a fountain.

"I wonder where Naruto and Tsubaki went-"

Naruto transformed into a sword and sank to the bottom of the fountain, and Tsubaki joined him by transforming into a short sword and following suit. The two of them sank to the bottom of the fountain with their blades touching.

-Inside the Soul Scape-

"This is a nice place to relax." Naruto looked around at the inside of Tsubaki's soul.

It was a clear lake, a blue sky with white clouds, and flower petals scattered on the water. Naruto and Tsubaki were just sitting on top of the water, the water was both deep and shallow at the same time. The two of them in their soul forms were both as naked as they day they were born.

"So why are we hiding?" She asked.

"... I panicked, didn't want the kids thinking we are dating."

"... Why not... we are dating." Tsubaki didn't know why Naruto was so against Maka, Soul, Black Star, and Sasuke from figuring out they were in a relationship. They had been in a relationship for 5 months now. The first time they met, they just clicked together on an emotional level. There was a spark between them, where they just understood they needed to be together.

"Maka's Dad cheated on her Mom a few months ago, and they got divorced. I don't want to rub our relationship in her face. Black Star wouldn't be able to keep his mouth shut... I guess Soul wouldn't be too bad, he seems like a cool kid." Naruto didn't have much of an issue with Soul learning the truth, but he didn't want to rub a happy relationship in Maka's face while she was still sorting out her family issues internally. If Black Star knew, then it would be a matter of minutes before everyone in Death City heard him scream it out of shock.

"... and Sasuke?"

"Sasuke needs me like how Black Star needs you." Naruto smiled at her sadly.

Sasuke was not Naruto's first choice in partner, though they were childhood friends, best friends even, Naruto didn't want to make Sasuke his partner. Sasuke couldn't form bonds with others though, so he was the only one that could even partner with him.

Sasuke refused to bond his soul with anyone but him, his soul just rejected all other souls.

Black Star was so self-centered on the other hand that only those who could change their souls to match his soul could be used him him, which meant that in the entire academy... Black Star could only wield Naruto and Tsubaki as weapons. Naruto because he could be wielded by anyone, and Tsubaki because she changed her soul to match with Black Star's soul.

"I know... but... why hide this from him?"

"Sasuke is... still figuring himself out. He wants to kill his brother, but he doesn't want to abandon me either. He wants to get stronger, but he's reached a level he doesn't know how to surpass... I'm afraid if Sasuke learns we're together... he will think I'm abandoning him... and it will cause him to spiral." Naruto didn't want to hurt his best friend. He placed his hand on Tsubaki's hand and leaned in. "... I'm sorry."

"It's okay."

"No, it isn't okay... I'm sorry I'm being selfish. I know you want to go out on dates, and do other couple things."

"It's okay though, it really is. Yes, I want to go on dates, and hold hands in public... I want to be able to brag that my boyfriend is a Death Scythe. There are a lot of things I want to do... but I want to do those things... but your friend needs you... I can keep us a secret for a little while longer." Tsubaki didn't like it, but she also loved it. She wouldn't have fallen for him if he wasn't this type of man who helped others.

It hurt her sometimes, but it wasn't so painful that she couldn't put up with it. Naruto still took her on dates, it was just that they went on dates in the dead of night. They kept their relationship a secret from their friends, but he did it because he believed it was good for them to not know.

They were silent.

They could hear their friends looking for them still.

"You aren't the only one who is being selfish... we both wanted to partner with each other, but we both sides to go with different partners on that day. I saw a little boy that nobody else wanted to partner with... and I approached him, even though we already met by then." Tsubaki had picked Black Star over Naruto as a partner as well, because she saw a boy who needed her. She saw a boy that nobody else would ever pick as a partner, and she couldn't leave the boy alone. She had already met Naruto earlier that morning, and they just clicked.

"Black Star is a good kid, I'm not angry about it. He's going to become a strong man one day... like I said, he needs a good partner to keep his ego in check." Naruto, with a good natured grin, nudged her.

She giggled.

"How are we going to get out of this without getting caught."

...

"We are going to be here for awhile."
