Diagon Alley
Harry woke early the next morning to loud tapping sounds. Hagrid had crashed on the couch, but when he realized that Harry had slept on the floor before he arrived, he had made sure that he would get a good night's sleep. He forced the Dursleys to give him space on the bed, and he and Dudley slept on the bed, while Vernon and Petunia slept on a mattress they found under the bed.
Last night, Vernon stupidly decided to say that he wouldn't pay for Harry's education, "I will not pay for some crackpot old fool to teach him magic tricks!" to which Hagrid had scoffed, "Yeh think 'arry needs your money? Yeh think his parents didn' leave 'im anything?" "Of course they didn't leave him money! They were crackpots! Just like your little 'headmaster'." Vernon declared.
"Never insult Albus Dumbledore in front o' me!" Hagrid roared, swinging his pink umbrella over his head. He stopped spinning it and pointed it at Dudley. Dudley squeaked and grabbed his huge bottom. He started jumping up and down all over the room, shouting, "Mum! Mum! Help Me!" "Oh, my Dudders! What happened?!" Petunia sounded frantic. He squeaked again and removed his hands from his bottom to show his parents.
"Oh no! What did you do?!" Now Petunia was horrified. "Tried ter make 'im a pig. Guess all he needed was a tail." Hagrid murmured to Harry. He started sniggering, although he didn't care if the Dursleys saw him or not. "What?! Remove his tail at once!" Vernon ordered. Harry started sniggering even more when he noticed that Dudley's father was sporting a matching tail to boot. "Guess we have 2 pigs in this household." Harry muttered to Hagrid. Hagrid chuckled. "Get ter sleep, kid. We 'ave a long day in front o' us." Harry nodded and went to sleep.
The next morning, he woke and head down the stairs. The tapping sounds became increasingly annoying. He walked over to the window and opened it, allowing the owl that had been waiting there to enter the hut. It swooped over to the still sleeping Hagrid and poked him multiple times. "Alright, alright! I'm awake." Hagrid mumbled. "What does it want?" Harry asked.
He was curious. Was this the letter from Albus, asking whether he had met Harry, or someone else entirely? Seeing the neat writing and the normal ink, it wasn't any Hogwarts staff, as they all use red ink for everything, except his head of house, who seemed to favor the color green, even though her house colors were red and gold. Even Dumbledore used purple ink; though he didn't know how ink in that color existed, instead of normal blue ink, like a normal person. Then again, it's not as if Dumbledore was normal, now was it?
Hagrid took the letter from the owl and read it. Harry decided to read over Hagrid's shoulder. He realized that it was from Dumbledore. Apparently, Dumbledore decided to be normal for once and use blue ink. It was what he suspected, however. The letter asked Hagrid whether he had met Harry and given him his letter and took him to get his school supplies.
Hagrid put the letter on the small table in front of the couch and stood up. He started searching his coat frantically, probably for a quill and some parchment to write a reply to Dumbledore. "I know I have it somewhere." He muttered while he searched his massive pockets. He took out an owl from one of his pockets, and Harry didn't even act surprised. He was surprised. How did Hagrid manage to fit a bloody owl in there?! Harry sighed. Another mystery of Hagrid he'll never solve.
He found the parchment he was looking for and set it down on the table. Holding the quill in his hand, he wrote a reply and said that he would be taking Harry to Diagon Alley soon. Since the owl that came with Dumbledore's letter had flown off, he sent the reply with the pocket owl.
"C'mon, we'll have breakfast at the Leaky." Hagrid said. "The Leaky?" Harry asked. "The Leaky Cauldron. 's the entrance ter Diagon alley, which is where we're goin' ter get your supplies." Hagrid said. Harry agreed to their plan, and they head outside the hut to find a boat tied to the rock. "Er, I'd appreciate it if yeh don' tell anyone, but i flew here. I have orders not ter fly with yeh though." Harry nodded. "I won't. I promise." Harry reassured him.
They headed to London through the tube, where Hagrid asked him to help with buying the tickets because he said that he got confused with the muggle money. From the tube station, they headed to the Leaky Cauldron, where Hagrid decided to make a scene and where Harry met Quirrell. Harry noticed that Quirrell wasn't in pain when he shook hands with him. So Voldemort hasn't possessed him yet.
"Hey, Tom. Could we 'ave some breakfast?" Hagrid asked Tom, the barman. Tom nodded and headed off to the kitchens. They went into the dining room and sat down. A few minutes later, a full English breakfast appeared in front of them. Scrambled eggs, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, buttered toast, pudding and beans sat in front of him. He realized how hungry he was and ate the food as fast as he could. He had let go of these instincts after Hogwarts, but after staying with the Dursleys for a month, they had resurfaced. "Hey, hey. Slow down! We 'ave the whole day ahead o' us." Hagrid said. Harry nodded and slowed down to properly chew the food.
After they ate, they headed into Diagon Alley and to Gringotts Bank. A pair of Goblins bowed them through the doors, where they were faced with a silver door. The door had an inscription on it. Well, a warning to be exact. Another pair of Goblins bowed them through the silver door, and they stood in a marble hallway, with dozens of Goblins sitting behind a long counter on high stools.
They walked up to the counter and Hagrid said, "We've come ter take money out o' Mr. Harry Potter's vault." "You have his key?" The goblin asked, peering over his spectacles. "I have it somewhere in 'ere. One sec." Hagrid muttered. He dropped some random items on the goblin's desk, annoying the goblin tremendously. A few seconds later, he held out a small key triumphantly. "I found it! Oops." He grinned sheepishly at the goblin before handing him the key and sweeping all the crumbs of the desk.
The goblin, whose name was Gornuk according to his name tag, inspected the key and deemed it in proper condition. He called another goblin to take them down to the vaults, where Harry gathered some money from his vault and they head down to get the Philosopher's stone. The head back up and went to get Harry's supplies.
