There was something fishy happening at the Squidbeak's headquarters.
That, of course, were the thousands upon thousands of Cod that were flopping all over the floors of the headquarters.
Captain had been the first to wake up from the overpowering sound of drowning fish. She screamed at the top of her lungs, loud enough to wake up the remaining members. The fish were in every room, several feet deep, mimicking a large snowfall. But with Cod.
Three had attempted to get up from her bed, but her first step resulted in her slipping on the grimy fish and landing face first in a pile of Cod. She scurried back to her bed after that.
"WHAT'S WITH ALL THE FISH?" Marie yelled from her room.
"I DON'T KNOW, BUT I'M GOING TO KILL FOUR!" Captain yelled in response.
"WHAT DOES FOUR HAVE TO DO WITH THIS?" Eight asked loudly, also in her own room.
"OH, I JUST HAVE THIS FEELING…"
The fish continued to flop around for several more minutes before the Squidbeak realized that these fish were not going to die. They would not stop flopping in desperation of water, with some even hopping on the girls' beds before promptly being thrown off in fright.
"I swear to Cod-" Three said before looking at the fish on the floor. 'Did I just make a pun? Oh, lord.' She thought.
"I swear to Cod, if Four had anything to do with this-"
As if on clockwork, the albatross from several days ago came flying through the open window to Three's room. It landed on her bed, and with a Squawk, dropped a carefully folded piece of paper into her lap. The bird then squawked in joy as it began chowing down on the buffet of fish throughout the house.
Three unfolded the letter and scanned it before calling out to everyone else.
"HEY GIRLS! I GOT A LETTER FROM FOUR!" She shouted. "DO YOU WANT ME TO READ IT?"
She heard three loud groans from each of the other girls' rooms, and a loud scream in anger coming from the Captain's quarters.
"I'll take that as yes," Three whispered to herself before yelling the contents of the note to everyone else.
"DEAR SQUIDBEAK,
FUN FACT FOR YA- COD IS ACTUALLY VERY NUTRITIOUS. IT CONTAINS HIGH AMOUNTS OF PROTEIN AND LOW AMOUNTS OF FAT. IT ALSO CONTAINS LOTS OF OTHER HEALTHY THINGS THAT CAN MAKE YOU GROW BIG AND STRONG. HOWEVER, THEY ARE A PAIN IN THE BUTT TO CATCH, ESPECIALLY IN LARGE QUANTITIES.
SINCERELY, FOUR."
Captain's scream continued, with some very colorful language included, some of which was unrecognizable to Three.
In an attempt to escape the fish and Captain's deafening yells, Eight opened her window and climbed out, landing on the soft ground just below. She quickly made her way around the outside of the house to the front door, which she knew was unlocked.
With a deep breath, she flung open the door, creating a flood of fish that began to flow out of the house and down the hill their home stood on. She watched as the cod flopped towards the other houses in the area and hoped that they wouldn't be upset.

As it turned out, people did not enjoy having fish fly through their windows at early hours in the morning. After some questioning by the police department and the Inkopolis Department of Wildlife, Three was arrested. She took the fall for the thousands of fish flying through people's homes, and would have to spend a couple nights in jail. Callie paid for the damages, and the remaining Squidbeak members returned to their home.
"I'm going to kill Four," Captain said as she took a large sip of her scalding hot black coffee.
Marie winced as she took a small sip of her tea. "That's a bit harsh, don't you think?"
"Not when he's costing us tens of thousands of coins and sending one of our best members to jail. I oughta have him kicked out for that alone."
"I think you're overreacting a bit," Eight said. "Callie and Marie are rich, those repairs aren't even a drop of ink in the tank for them."
"Besides, jail will be good for Three," Marie added, taking another small sip of her tea. "She needs to toughen up a bit."
Everyone except the Captain chuckled at the idol's statement. She took another burning sip of coffee and scowled at Marie. Her tongue and throat were in pain, but she couldn't let the rest of the Squidbeak see her weakness.
"Captain, isn't that coffee scalding hot?" Callie asked.
Captain gripped the entire mug with her bare hands, and took a large sip from the mug. Her hands felt like they were on fire, and they turned a bright shade of red. She forced a slight grin on her face as she faced the accusing comment.
"No, it's- not hot at all."
"Captain's smiling. That means she's lying." Marie said with a smirk.
"She's also appearing very overconfident, which is not something she usually does." Eight lazily added while stirring some sugar into her tea.
"That coffee just came off the stove as well. There's no way it isn't hot." Callie added.
Captain's right eye started to twitch as she glared at the three girls sitting across the table from her. She shakily lifted up her mug and took another large sip of coffee. With that sip, she finished the coffee and slammed the mug on the table.
The ceramic cup shattered into pieces as Captain got up and glared at the remaining Squidbeak members, who were frozen in shock.
"IT'S. NOT. HOT." She growled through gritted teeth before storming out of the house.
The three girls could only stare at the door as the footsteps grew quieter. There was a brief moment of silence before they all broke out laughing.
Marie calmed down and took a sip of her tea before she spoke again. "Are there any more fish in the house anywhere? Maybe we could cook some for dinner. To make it up to Captain, of course."
"We can worry about dinner later," Callie said smoothly. "For now, we should probably clean up the shards of ceramic that are all over the place."
Eight glanced over at the shattered ceramic before looking back at the idols. "Was the Captain wearing her shoes when she left?" She asked.
"No, she just stormed right out of he-" The purple idol began saying before stopping herself. "Wait a minute, Eight!"
Eight chuckled as Callie glared at her. The idol began a spiel that lasted several minutes about how Eight couldn't disrespect the Captain like that, and that the Squidbeak needed the Captain to be here and a lot of other stuff that Eight didn't bother listening to.
Her ranting was interrupted by Marie, who was searching the cupboards for something to eat. "Dinner's on me, guys. There's fish under here."
Callie groaned audibly.
