Welcome To Duel Academy

"Welcome to Duel Academy." The Chancellor spoke through the mic as all the gathered students huddled together for the welcome Assembly before leaving to collect their uniforms,"I am Chancellor Sheppard, the head master of the school, and you, are the best and brightest young duelists in the world!" he spoke with a smile. He seemed to have a comforting personality, like that of a father, in a way. "You overcame many obstacles to make it this far." he said with a grin,"So you can consider yourselves the dueling elite!" he belted,"I want you to have fun dueling and studying together...well...I think I;ve bored you enough." he laughed,"Go gather your uniforms and I will let you Headmasters take care of the rest~" he grinned,"I expect great things from you and I know you'll fulfill them, until then~!"

"Maaaaaaaan~ Speeches make me sleepy." yawned Jaden, stretching his arms in his red blazer."So...where's this dorm we're supposed to be going to anyway?"

"Looks like I'm in the Slifer Red Dorm." said Syrus.

"Hey, me too!" Jaden grinned,"What about you Connie?"

The boys blinked curiously to their female friend, who, unlike them, had yet to receive a uniform.
"You...are going to school with us... right Connie?" And there went the bluenette's anxiety again...bubbling up.

"Huh?" she blinked. It seemed she was still a bit dazed from early events.

" Oh uh...my uniform had to be specially fitted...so I have to go pick it up from the Chancellor in a little bit," she said awkwardly.

"Oh...all right then...See you around the dorms I guess."

"Sure thing Jaden." She smiled and waved her friends off before heading into the Chancellor's office.

"Enter." the gruff but welcoming voice sounded from the other side of the automatic door, sliding open to invite her inside.

"Thank you, sir." She greeted the Chancellor politely bowing her head in respect.

"Ah, Ms.K...! So happy you could make it." he smiled,"Welcome to Duel Academy, it's truly an honor to have you with us."

"It's truly and honor to be here, sir." she smiled sweetly.

"Here at Duel Academy, we aim to create the next generation of duelists, It's so exciting to have our very own protege playing among us!"

She blushed shyly. It's not that she wasn't good in her own right, but she also knew that a lot of this praise came from who her father was.

"We have your uniform here with us of course, fitted and ready to go but...are you sure?" he asked her with puzzling concern in his eyes," I mean, You received exceptionally high marks, in your tests, your duels, you are easily fitted into Obelisk Blue!" he said,"So...if I may ask, why on earth would you specially request to start in Red...?"

"With all due respect, sir..." she began,"I'm well aware that a lot is expected of me, due to my pedigree alone." she said," As it is now, very few people are aware of my identity and who my father is..." she paused,"On top of this, thanks to him I have received a premium education...it would be easy for me to wear blue due to family ties and connections alone." she blinked and slowly shook her head from side to side,"...But I don't want recognition this way." she said," If I am going to be a student here, I am going to start at the bottom like everyone else. I don't want special treatment." she looked up with a determined expression shining in her bright blue eyes,"If I am to be in Blue one day, I wish to earn it. I will start from the bottom and work my way up in the ranks." she said,"That way...I will be an Obelisk student because I deserve to be, not because of pedigree."

Chancellor Sheppard was taken back by this statement, and his face curved slowly into a warm smile that was complimented by his chuckle.

"So I see." he chuckled lightly,"How very honorable...I would say you truly are his daughter indeed." He hums, "In that case, , I wish you the best of luck!"

Feeling proud of herself she met his smile with her own and bowed her head respectfully.

"Thank you, sir."

"Very well." he chuckled,"Then here is your uniform, hurry and change now." he grinned," Your teacher, Vellian awaits your arrival."

"Ah...! Understood!" she beamed excepting the package and quickly running out to change.

"Well, I'll be." he said lightly, as he watched her with a spring in her step,"I have never seen anyone so happy to wear red." he chuckled,"This should make for an interesting year indeed."

"HeHeHeHeHe~" Vellian Crowler remained creepy as ever as she made her way into the classroom."I can't believe we have the illustrious corporate daughter, Ms. Connar Rose in our class~" he beamed," She received exceptionally high marks, such is to be expected of Kaiba of course~" he grinned,"This might be my chance to finally get rid of that slacker-"

"Excuse me?" Connar spoke up to try and get his attention, catching him completely off guard.

"O-Oh my, Welcome-" He turned ready to welcome her with open arms until he froze in place, distracted by the red uniform she wore.

"M-Ms...Connar?" he blinked.

"Y-Yes that's right." she smiled sweetly and bowed politely,"Thank you for taking me under your wing, I look forward to learning with you!"

"O-Oh Yes! Of Course!" he said with a forced smile.

But what on earth is she doing in red!?

He thought to himself.

I thought she was a corporate heiress!? Shouldn't she be in blue!? I can't see this helping my reputation...

"So um...would you mind pointing me to my seat, please?" she asked shyly,"Or do we just sit anywhere...?"

Well...at least she is more polite than that slacker...despite being in red. He sighed.

"Indeed sit anywhere you'd like." he said as he cleared his throat and regained his composure,"My name is Crowler, I am by far, the top teacher in this Academy and it is an absolute honor to be teaching you, my dear~" He grinned and it sent chills through Connar, though she was too polite to say anythiong about it...to his face. There was a reaso she referred to him as Dr. Creeper- but she'd just gulp hard and smile and nod.

"Looks like I beat you here, Sy!"

"Awe, c'mon Jay, wait up~!"

two familiar voices sounded from the hall, relieving Connar of her pentup unsettlement. Jaden turned the corner quickly, not paying attention to where he was going, as he faced back toward Syrus while he ran forward.

"Ah-Jaden, look out!"

"Huh?" he turned quickly and was soon met with a sudden smack into the pink haired girl. She squeaked as the two fell together to the ground, catching himself over her in an awkward enough position to send into a frenzy.

"Whoops! Sorry, Connie!" He laughed quickly struggled to his feet trying to pull her up, "Looks like the tables turned this time! So I guess I owe you a coffee, right? Ha Ha!"

"Jaden! I can't believe you!" Syrus panicked, helping him pull his pink haired friend to her feet,"Connar, Are you okay!?"

"Ahh...y-yeah, I think so." She chuckled awkwardly dusting off her skirt, "I'll be taking that coffee with cream and lots of sugar, Jaden!" This only made the two laugh harder together.

"BEGONE!" snapped, quickly interrupting the merry-making, "OR IT'S DETENTION FOR BOTH OF YOU!" he huffed.

"No, not that!" said Jaden.

"You can get detention on the first day!?" Said Syrus.

"Oh, just...go find your seats!" huffed, sending the two of them away as quickly as possible, panting,"Please, ...whatever your color rank, just...don't become a slacker like him!" he huffed pointing at Jaden, who glanced back with a puzzled look before grinning and waving at her. It seemed that was still bitter of Jaden's defeating him in his entry ceromony duel...and now, he had it out for him.

Connar carefully walked around the classroom at all the empty seats, as the students who had gathered seemed to be sprinkled around in little cliques until class started. Jaden and Syrus seemed to be chatting it up with a heavy set fellow, who, oddly reminded her of a koala. A few rows down sat Bastion Misawa, studying already. She recognized him from the entry exams. He's said to be the best student in their grade, having gotten the higest marks, and one row up from him, sat Chazz. When his eyes rose to meet hers, shock formed on his face. He opened his mouth as though to say something, but quickly shut it, as he took into account where they were. Reguardless, the look on his face was not a happy one, and to avoid his glance she quickly passed by him with her eyes to the floor.

"Connar?" Hey!" A bodasious blonde Obelisk smiled in her direction and waved her over.

"Oh, Alexis!" Connar called out and waved back, walking over to greet her properly. Alexis Rhodes wasn't exactly an old friend of Connar's. They weren't enemies, they just knew eachother from Duel Prep School. She wasn't mean or anything. But she seemed kind of unapproachable. She was very pretty, and already popular with a few boys.

"You're in red?" asked Alexis," But I thought you scored perfectly..."

"Indeed, I'm surprised as well." said Zane, who stood next to Alexis,"You're not gonna need a babysitter this year, are you?" he teased.

Connar blushed and puffed her cheeks.

"No!" she huffed,"I'm a big girl now Zane, I don't need you to babysit me anymore!"

"I wonder about that~"

"Hold on, wait!" Alexis giggled,"Zane!? Babysit!? I wanna hear more about that!"

"Another time, maybe." Zane chuckled,"Class is about to start soon Alexis so we should go find out seats." he turned, glancing back at the pink haired girl,"Would you like to sit with us, Connie?"

"Oh no, I better not." Said Connar, waving her hands in a polite decline,"After all, you two are Obelisks, Having a Slifer sit between you might cause some chatter." she chuckled,"Especially you, Zane, You have a reputation to uphold."

Zane Truesdale. Once Connar's Summer time babysitter, now the top ranked duelist at Duel Academy.

"Suit yourself." he said shrugging," Still though, you shouldn't act like you don't belong there." he huffed lightly and stepped up toward his seating with Alexis in tow.

Yet another disappointed customer in Connar's personal choice. The hardest part though, would be breaking it to her father later...

"Hey, Connie!" Jaden called out to her from a few rows over,"Come on, we saved you a seat!" he grinned.

"Hurry up!" Said Syrus"Our roommate Chumley has been keeping it warm for ya~" he giggled.

"Settle down, now, that's enough!" said , stepping down to take his podium,"Be seated, as class is about to begin!"
