Chapter Thirty-Six

Come and Gone...

"P-Princeton?" Connar called out to the missing Obelisk studen as the door slowly creaked open. Her heeled boots echoed on the dust covered floor and glanced around the place. The place had an entirely different feeling to it during the day...

The door still slammed shut behind her, yet some how, she didn't feel unwanted. On contrary...she felt drawn to this place. She was wanted here...

"So...you've come back again." a familiar voice echoed around Connar, "I knew you would."

"It's you-" Connar pointed out, looking up at the familiar blue haired boy from their last encounter. Only now...he seemed much less threatening. sitting on the railing at the top of the stairs with his legs hanging over the ledge.

"Kira!" that was Kaibaman's voice this time, growling out a name that the familiar blue haired boy seemed to respond to.

"Kira?" Connar blinked, "Is that his name...?"

Kaibaman's face softened and he sighed giving her a nod.

"It is..." The boy said softly, his lashes tickling his cheeks as he closed his eyes, " He knows me...And I think you and I? Got off on the wrong foot before..." he said to her, "Please, I don't want to hurt you Connar...Let's just talk, okay?"

Connar's eyes narrowed. bringing a hand to her chest and gripping trembling fingers into the cloth of her school top. Last time they met...was incredibly painful...Her heart tightened, yet somehow, she felt like that still, the two were connected somehow...

"...Fine." she finally said softly,"But you should really be careful." she said to him, "It's dangerous to sit up there..."

The boy's eyes softened and he loosens a snort.

"Please..." he said softly as he started swinging on the rails, "Nothing to worry about, see?" And just like that he swung himself right off. Connar let loose a startled cry...but he was gone...and suddenly floating right beside her.

"Relax princess~" he teased, "I'm already dead...

I knew it...

She thought to herself, blue eyes narrowing to the boy beside her, taking a gentle stand on his feet.

"So...you really are a Ghost-"

The boy twitched and gave a crooked smile.
"Well...I prefer the term spirit...but yeah. You're not wrong." he said softly, "And you knew that all along, didn't you?"

She took a moment to take it in. The feeling this boy brought to the air around her, was familiar...something she found a comfort in even in her childhood...

The boy called Kira watched her a while in silence before giving a soft chuckle.

"Don't worry about unpacking that right now..." he said softly, "Something is bothering you, right?" he asks.

"How did you know that?" she asked curiously.

"To be fair, Ms. Connar...you aren't very good at hiding it." said Kaibaman.

"He's right you know~" Dark Magician girl giggled. She floated above Connar and folded her arms over the pinkette's head to rest her chin there, "It's all over your face-"

"That's another thing..." She blinked and and shifted her gaze between the spirit Kira, and Kaibaman, "How do you know each other?"

The Duel Spirit sat silent for a while, a concerned gaze set on the girl. He opened his mouth as though to speak but Kira did instead-

"It's not just him I know..." he said softly, "It's you too..."

Connar tilted her head giving him a pecuiliar gaze.

"You really don't remember..." he sighed.

Remember what?

She still didn't understand what he meant...

The spirit boy sighed and shook his head. But honestly? He looked hurt, which only raised Connar's curiosity more.

Why was he so different from before...?

"Give it time." he said softly, "It will all come together...trust me...it's important that it does...but for now...I invited you to talk right? So let's start...with just that."

Connar was a bit uneasy at first...There were so many questions...

Who Kira was...

Why was he here...

How he knew Kaibaman...

and more so-

What was going on with her and the situation in its entierety...

Because whoever Kira is...or was- he seemed to know something about it...and about her too...

xxxxx

"I see..." Kira said softly, "So, you're out here looking for your friend, huh?"

"Wh-Friend-I Don't know if I would call us that..."

What would she call them exactly? Their relationship was...confusing and complicated. But she still worried about him anyway...

"Well whatever you would consider yourselves...I'm afraid I have some bad news for you." he said softly, "Your friend isn't here...he left early this morning."

"Wait...Princeton... left?"

"Yeah he was boarding a yacht or something early this morning-"

"Wait...this morning?" Connar blinked, "So...Princeton isn't even on the island anymore..."

"Afraid not...I'm sorry that isn't very helpful."

"It's all right..." Connar sighed, "Actually that was more helpful than it should have been..." though it still stung her to hear that Chazz was actually gone... "Well...thank you. I guess I should go tell Jaden...he'll probably be disappointed to hear his big rival is gone." She chuckled awkardly.

"But...something else is bothering you?" the boy hums.

"Yeah...I guess there is...aside from Princeton." the girl blinked before slowly shifting her gaze back to the spirit boy, almost without a thought, she asks him, "...Last time we met...you said...you were me..." she paused,"...What did you mean by that?"

"Oh..." he said softly, looking almost uncomfortable by the question.

"Well..." He turned to her softly and placed a palm over her chest, feeling her heart beat between her chest and his cold hand. As he opened his mouth to- preparing to continue his words- he could hear the distant calling of Jaden's voice echoing near by.

"...You should go." he chuckled softly, "They're looking for you..."

"But what about-"

"Don't worry Connar, this won't be the last time we talk." the boy smiled, "We'll see each other again...sooner than you think. Maybe then- you'll remember..."
