The Last Ones Standing

AN:

The Duel featured in this chapter is a combination of a simulation duel I played on a game and the anime duel. So not all moves made here will be the same Considering this is a Tag Duel ergo is not fully canon to the canon one featured in the anime.

This is also my first time writing a Tag Duel so I thank you for your patience!

The crowd sat ready and waiting, tensing up about what fate had in store for their school when left in the hands of two corporate delinquents-

"It's go time!" Chazz initiated the first word,"Now then, since we're all gentlemen here~ I think it would be rude not to let my lady go first~" Chazz smirked as he nudged his head for the girl to make the first move.

"Why thank you good sir~" she snikered,"So then I'll start by laying down a couple of face downs!" she said,"I think I'll leave it at that for right now."

"That's it?" Jagger scoffed.

"For a little girl who talks big you got nothing to show for it~!" said Slade.

"Hmph." Connar scoffed,"The conditions clearly stated no monsters with more than 500 attack!" she said to him,"They said nothing about how many traps I can lay for you!"

"OooH~" Chazz taunted,"Hear that~? Better watch your step!" he smirked.

"Whatever!" Jagger huffed as he took his draw.

"While you're doing that, so will I!" she stated.

"What!?"

"By activating Jar of Greed!" she said, "Which allows me to draw one card as well!"

"Fine!" Jagger huffed.

"Not that it will do her any good anyway." said Slade, "What could she possible be hoping to get from a weakened deck of monsters with less than 500 attack points!?"

Connar smirked.

"You'll find out, soon enough..." she said with a fierce determination. A slight chill took to Jagger, but not enough to steer him away from this match.

"I summon Sangan!" he stated in attack mode." he declared.

Sangan: ***

ATK: 1000

DEF:600

If she can find tricks to gain cards in her hand, then so can I.

He thought to himself, "Next I'll set a card face down."

"That makes it my turn!" said Chazz once Jagger ended his, "I'll play Soul Tiger, in defense mode!"

Soul Tiger: ****

ATK: 0

DEF: 2100

The crew sat in the stands nervously watching this duel take place.

"With that attack point handicap that they have to follow, I'll bet we'll hear that a lot." Alexis muttered.

"Hey, with defense points like that, it might be a good thing!" said Jaden.

"You're up...bro." said Chazz.

"Why thank you~" Slade smirked as Jagger snickered, "I'll activate polymerization and fuse Lord of Dragons with Devine Dragin Ragnerok!"

Connar twitched.

She was wall too familiar with the Lord of Dragons card...

"This isn't good!" said Syrus and Zane whinced.

"With those he can summon-"

"King Dragun!" Slade grinned.

King Dragun: *******

ATK: 2400

DEF:1100

"And check out his special ability!" said Slade, "For every turn he's on the field, I get to summon a Dragon type monster from my hand!" he grinned as he threw another card up, "Like Luster Dragon #2!"

Luster Dragon #2: ******

ATK: 2400

DEF: 1400

The crowd gasped.

"That's two monsters with 2400 attack points!" said Jaden.

"Big Whoop." Chazz scoffed.

"I think you mean Big Whooping!" said Slade, "King Dragoon, attack Soul Tiger!" Chazz and Connar held up their arms as their defender burned away, "Next, Luster Dragon will attack you!"

"Ahhhh!" They screamed together as rainbow fire burned away 2400 of their 8000 life points.

Connar&Chazz: 8000-5600

Slade&Jagger: 8000

That was a big drop...

Connar thought to herself.

But for my strategy to work, I need cards in the spell and trap card zone...

So I can't risk activating anything yet unless it's absolutely needed...

She shifted her blue eyes over to Chazz with an apologetic look.

I'm sorry, Princeton...

The ash haired male nodded in understanding.

"They got nailed..." Jaden blinked.

"...So much for all those defense points..." said Bastion.

"Your move, Brat~!" Slade said with a leer that pulled a scoff from Connar Rose.

"Oh please, my uncle has a more terrifying glare when he's pretending to be mad!" she huffed, "And don't even get me started on my dad!"

That is...if I can still call him that after this...

She thought to herself as she drew her card. She blinked a while as she shifted her eyes through her hand.

"I place two more cards, face down!" she stated, "That's it."

"That's it!?" Jagger huffed, "You think you're tough huh?" he scoffed, "This will be easier than I thought." he grinned, "I summon Axe Dragonute!" he declared.

Axe Dragonute: ****

ATK: 2000

DEF: 1200

"With four monsters now gunning you down, there's no way you can win this round!" he laughed, "This duel is already ours!"

"Is it?" Chazz smirked.

"What do you mean!?" Jagger huffed.

"Nothing...if you're so sure~ then attack already!" said Chazz, "Stop talking about how tough you are and prove it."

"Watch it, little brother..." Jagger growled.

"Don't pay him any mind!" said Slade, "He's just trying to psyche us out! Let's with this already."

"Sounds good to me." said Jagger, "ATTACK!"

"...Connie, you can spare a card this time, right?" asked Chazz.

"Absolutely! That's why I put it there!"

"You rock." Chazz grinned, "I activate, Waboku!" he said as he unveiled one of the hidden face downs.

"One of my favorites~" said Connar, "All Battle damage is dealt to us as zero!" she declared, " So I wouldn't bother wasting your time...or ours for that matter."

"HA!" Chazz laughed.

"Dammit!" Jagger huffed as his monster was repelled back.

"What's that?" Chazz blinked, "My turn again!?"

"Shut up and make your move!" Huffed Slade.

"About time..." Chazz scoffed, "I'll place a monster in defense mode." he blinked, "That's it." he said cheekily while flashing a smug little grin to go with it-

"That's IT!?" Slade huffed, "Jeeze this really will be easier than I thought." he laughed.

"Say that AFTER you get passed our defenses." said Connar with folded arms, "You may have taken a little damage on us so far...but incase you haven't noticed, we're still standing and there's a monster and two face downs in your way."

"Connar's playing smart." said Zane, "She excels at using weaker monsters to their fullest potential...which means playing defensively is second nature to her." he stated.

"Good." Bastion blinked, "Because she's going to need those defensive skills to help them win."

"I get it!" said Jaden.

"Get what?" asked Syrus.

"Their strategy!" Jaden beamed, "Like Zane said...Connar plays defensively by nature. So a rule like weak attack points isn't as effective for her as it is for someone like Chazz." he stated, "Haven't you noticed!?"

"Notcied what?" Syrus blinked, he only seemed to be getting more confused.

"Connar hasn't played a single monster yet!" said Jaden, "But she's still been playing defensively-She's playing Chazz's shield!"

"By George, you're right!" Bastion blinked, "Facinating! I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Connar built her entire make shift deck around protecting them!" he stated, "She may not have any monsters at all-"

"Technically that wouldn't be breaking the rules." said Alexis.

"No." said Jaden, "She definitely has a monster." he smiled.

Because All I need to win, is faith in Kaibaman!

"...She's got Kaibaman in her deck." said Jaden, "And I'll bet she plans on using him to win."

"But doesn't he only have 200 attack points?" asked Syrus, "How can she use it to win?"

"...I have a thought." Zane said with a smile, "She's been keeping their spell and trap card zone occupied for a reason...now let's just hope they can hold out long enough for her strategy to take effect."

The rest of the crew blinked in confusion before exchange odd glances with each other and returning to the game at hand.

"By Dragun's effect, I Summon Hyozanryu!"

Chazz twitched.

"That makes 5 monsters..." said Chazz.

"Congratulations little brother, you can add!" Slade scoffed, "But tell me...how's your subtraction!" as he sent his monster forward to attack a bunch of little creatures screeched and fell on Slades field, freezing his monsters in place.

"What was that!?" he asked.

"The effect of one of my favorite spell casters~" Connar giggled though it was technically Chazz's, it was still a spell caster type monster that she liked.

"When Unhappy Maiden is destroyed, a bunch of her little friends rain down and end your turn automatically." said Chazz.

"So you last a bit longer!" said Slade, It doesn't matter!"

"Wanna bet on that?" said Chazz.

"My turn!" said Connar as she took her draw, and another smile curled at her lips, "I'll place another face down to replace the one my partner borrowed." she grinned, "That will be it for me."

"Again!?" Jagger huffed.

It seems Connar's almost ready...

Chazz thought to himself.

Now let's hope I can last long enough and use as little traps as needed so that her strategy works!
